Status / Notification LED colors - One (M7) General

So we have a Red and a Green LED on this phone.
Not sure if there are 2 separate LEDs or 1 dual color LED on the board.
Is there any reason we cannot make a Yellow light to have 3 colors to choose from?
(thinking a yellow service light or to indicate BT and / or WiFi ON like a BlackBerry would have done with blue and green)
Something like this:
Red - notification type 1
Green - flashing indicating you have service / solid indicating charging
Yellow - BT or WiFi is on
Capacitive lights - notification type 2 (Assuming we can make the capacitive buttons work as additional status LEDs)
(Red + Green = Yellow Light)
Thoughts?

what I don't understand is... taken from https://support.htc.com/en-ie/005-HTC_One/020/030/000
The notification LED shows a:
Solid green light when HTC One is connected to the power adapter or a computer and the battery is fully charged.
Flashing green light when you have a pending notification.
Solid orange light when the battery is being charged.
Flashing orange light when the battery level reaches very low.

RED is not listed as one of the colors... why?
My phone is at 100% charge, plugged in, and I see RED light. Not GREEN like this thing here says. When my phone was at 80% and I plugged it, I saw RED also... no ORANGE at all. Is my phone defective or what?
EDIT: Also noticed that on SETTINGS -> POWER, battery is at 99% and never reaches 100% no matter how long I leave it plugged. Is this normal?

My led shows red (not orange). It's actually flashing red atm since my battery is at 6%.
But your battery only showing 99% might be a problem, could be graphical I suppose? When charged mine goes to 100% fine.

I had this problem on my first HTC One...Called my retailers support line, and was offered a swap straight away. They reckoned it was a dodgy battery!(?)
Not sure if it was though, but the handset would never fully charge even when switched off and left for 2 days on the charger (always stayed on red led) and when turned on, was stuck at 99% just like yours.

By orange they mean the red colour. Used to be the other way around on my desire (showed orange they called it red).

Is there a blue led too. On the desire someone bricked his phone and suddenly had a blue led, after some disbelieve devs did manage to access the blue led too, so we could have any color in the spectrum.

Weirdly no one mentioned blue colour on desire but it was there and easily triggered by the Facebook app (one could not trigger it using options in apps). Though blue worked Ok all colour combination had problems (purple, cyan etc). I hope there is a blue led on the one as well but I am 99% sure there is not.

I left phone charging overnight and it finally reached 100% I will use it for a while and charge again to see if it takes forever to get to 100% again. Thanks guys.

I didn't notice a blue led.. i don't think it supports this colour.

I just wonder is there any app to change the color of notification LEDs on a rooted HTC one m7?

Hope to see if there is ways to add more colours.

You need to calibrate your battery. The phone knows it's battery percentage base on the mah readings it gets from the battery. To find out what is 100% you obviously have to fully charge it. Same with 0, fully discharge. Over time the battery loses health and will only charge to -99%. Get a battery calibration app. It deletes the battery data allowing the phone to collect new data.

Dear all,
I think that the most frustrating thing about the LED notification is the timeout: only 5 mins with the LED on and after that it finishes to blink. I googled aroud to find a solution to this strange calibration made by HTC but seems that every solution is useless. Do you have idea how to enlarge this time?
Maybe just a kernel modification can heal this problem
What do you think?

I've found an app that seems to be working OK.
Its called light flow and its in the play store.
You can have the green LED or the red LED or both of them on together creating an odd color at different angles, it is orange when looking directly at it but some angles you will only see red and others only green. It also allows some control of the capacitive lights as part of the notification as well.
It can be a complex app to use and you might need to have a rooted device to use all the options.

Can the Notification LED Priority be changed?

Can anyone explain to me HTC's logic in this:
"The indicators are listed in order of priority. For example, if your device is connected to a power adapter and is charging the battery, the LED will be solid amber and will not switch to a flashing green light even if there is a pending notification."
I keep my phone on the charger a lot of the time and I have missed several voice mails and text messages as a result of this behavior. Is there a way to change this (I am stock/unrooted) or anything in the marketplace that will fix it?

HTC does this, and it drives me crazy. It was the same way on my TP2 - if charging, it'll be orange. If fully charged, it will be green. It will stay that way, even in the presence of a notification.
I'd love to see green flashing over the orange when charging. Maybe the LED flashing OFF with a notification while fully charged. Probably not going to happen though, it never did for the TP2.
You'll need to root to fix something like this, if we even have access to it.
There's an app called always flash that does exactly that you just need root

RED LED of Death - Guide to get phone back up and running

Hey all,
Surely at some point we have all gone to pick up our x10's and seen nothing on the screen and a blinking red led when you try to turn it on.
Immediatly thoughts of Phone Death and End of the World will undoubtably echo through our minds. Fear not!
Well, this happened to me on the weekend again (a few times now) so i thought i'd try a few different ways of getting it back up again and i think i nailed it first go
1. Yank battery out
2. connect charger and wait for green charging led
3. insert battery and wait for charging icon to appear in screen* (SE logo first, then Charging screen)
4. power phone on with cable still connected. Phone will boot as normal and continue charging.
5. celebrate avoidance of mobile technology isolation with a few cold ones
Hope that helps someone!
* For what its worth, i am running Zdzihu's 2.2 Beta4, but i think this should work on most. Only thing that might be different would be the charging icon does not appear on some ROMS. That i cannot answer but is probably worth a shot anyway
Tim.

Hi,
I am facing the same issue as mentioned above but unable to resolve it.
I tried the steps mentioned:
1. Yanked battery out
2. connected charger and waited for green charging led
But for me the green charging led does not come up!!
What could be the issue?
I don't quite understand. Are you saying that X10's are just suddenly and mysteriously dying? I've never heard of this or had it happen to me on stock firmware. The way you described it sounds like you always leave your screen on. Maybe that's the problem, or it's because 2.2 custom ROMs are completely stable yet? :Confused?
sumtimes strange things happens
i charged the battery completly 100% den wipeout the battery
rubb it in my palmm ...insert it back
turn on the phone it says 3 % charged RED led starts blinking
ahahahahahahaha..
wipe out battery rub again placing it back it says 100%

Or it could be that your USB port is broken.
same issue...
i don't think usb is broken...coz the phone went dead when i was playing a game...there was no issue with the usb port then...
when i charge the RED light blinks...
if i remove the battery and place it back and swith it on RED light blinks again but for 3 times....and no display....
i've been searchin solution for this issue on sonyericsson support forums and xda support forums but no solution that i came across works...
does this mean that xperia x10 dies just by playing games? phone freezes and dies....weird!!
this was some time ago for me, and has not happened since, but i was thinking about it recently and i was actually thinking it was heat related. i was charging (at the time it died last time) via usb-pc connection, and that always gets really hot. maybe its a thermal heat saving thing?

You should avoid charging via usb on PC...it never charges battery properly and is recommended when you only want to charge your phone to do it via charger, not PC usb.

Where is the data on this?
I just discovered as of yesterday, that my Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad T400 only has one good USB port as far as my X10a is concerned. The other 2 ports appear to connect, but the charge still falls down.
My best port is on the left side, further back of the two.
I am using rendeiro2005's [MOD/ROM)scamble_v01[CM6.1.3][30MAR]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015765
I am attempting a portion of the cycle of power as noted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010070
# Unplug Charger and do not plug back in until your phone dies
# Reboot into recovery once it is dead by connecting charger
# Wipe battery stats
# Charge to 100% and repeat the discharging, wiping, and charging process about 3-5 times
In attempt to make sure my battery was drained, I kept turning my phone on.
This led to my flashing red LED of death.
I attempted this workaround, but it didn't work exactly, but close enough.
I had to pop the battery out and in and disconnect usb a few times and back in until it started charging.....

yep, i generally do, but i was away on a trip and only had access to a pc/usb for charging (forgot my AC charger!)
Red flash of death:
For me it was because the connector on my phone(!), was broken.
So I send it back for repair.
A friend of mine had exact the same.
Vodafone is currently repairing mine, and made a photo of what was broken. ;p

when i got my x10 which was sent to me thru dhl, i saw it was working before it was placed inside the box then when i get it just this morning i tried to power it on but it didn't so i charged it but nothing happened. Even the led indicator is not blinking so i tried to buy a new one. there, the indicator blinks when i power it up but still didn't work. i tried to charge my original battery thru usb for more thn 2 hours and charge it thru clipped charger for almost half day now but nothing happened. issue is still persisting. can somebody help me with these?
haha.. this had happen to me be4 when i flash to custom ROM. and tht time my phone battery was 34%. After flash. it show only 10% ._. how funny it is..

i kno the usb port works b/c ONE time out of probably about a 100 that i've tried, it actually worked and brought me to the charging battery screen then immediately died again...
i can't seem to get the phone to go to xRecovery OR boot into flash mode...

I've always wondering about the various power button light colors as I cannot find any consistency, and the manual doesn't give any explanation about the different modes. When not on the charger, I only seem to get a blinking white light when there is some sort of notification. On the charger, I think I've see a blinking orange, blinking white, and solid orange states. No clue to any of the reasons for the different states.
Tbh, it should stay orange when it's charging. So it sounds like there's a problem with charging, either because your charger is busted or your battery is.

This is correct.
When its off no light the device is on
When its white the tab is sleeping
Blinking white its sleeping but a app is awake using network(white blinking network use)
Orange blinking is charging.
If its flashing red green and blue. RUN ITS A BOMB.Teasing
This is in the PDF you can d/load from acer website.

I will have to look. Its in the repair manual.I think I got it from a thread here actually come think about it.if I can find the file ill post it
here is what mine does,
when it stays red or orange it charges
when it blinks orange it doesnt charge becuase i leave it there for like an hour and the percentage is still the same
and when not plugged in it does the white light and is all good
so i have no idea what to do
Mine does orange when charging, white when done charging, occasionally white when asleep and off when using.
Just done some testing with different adapters.
Orange not blinking when charging correctly = adapter OK (enough tension and amps)
If adapter is too small (less than 12v or can't output 1.5amps), then it blinks orange.

Blinking orange and green led?

My notification light is alternating between green and orange and I have no clue why..
My battery is low but it should just blink orange for that.
I've done some research and they sat the battery is overheating, the battery is not hot at all so I'm doubting that is the issue.
I'm running ICS currently.
any ideas of what this is.
Also, I can check to see if it's a notification as the LCD is busted until I get it fixed, it's just driving me nuts.
Most probably you have a notification so the LED alternates between red for low battery and green for the notification. It's what it does on mine and I'm on ICS also (I2IEAILiiTY's hybrid)

The LED (I believe) should keep working as normal, whether on charge or not (as long as the tab is on). I don't believe the LED should stay solid on charge (unless you get 3rd-party software to do so anyway)

THOUGHT about it today, I have never seen my LED on. Did a search and it is a known bug, not known if it is the N10 or Android. But is you install "LED color Tester" from the play store, you can test all the colors and confirm it turns on... so it looks like it may be a software bug. Some people can make it turn on temporarily by rebooting their system while it is charging. I personally never saw my LED before I tried the color tester today. nice pretty colrs <grin> too bad it doesn't work.
Here is a link to one of the Google error reports on it: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40294
I just looked at my tablet while it was sleeping, on charge, and the LED is flashing (got an email). I am on a custom ROM and Kernel though.
Mine never comes on while charging.
