I m using i9500 since a month and not having any issue battery is also good easily I get abt 18 hours with average use like 2 hours tt 30 mins game wifi on full time on etc
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium

I have had no issues using the I9505, I got rid of any lag by minimising the animation time of transitions and stopping s voice from opening up with the home button. Battery life is pretty decent. Had full day of it running with the screen on bright.
The only difference that I think there would be is 4G LTE, and how important that is to you? I've got good coverage so I'm loving the network speed of late.
If you want to speed it up and flash it with some a ROM, CM, AOKP and some other customs are coming out with good results so far

thanks, i also want to know about the speed performance, and the wifi problem which one has it?

I also have GT- 9500, everything Stock, and have NOT had any issues so far (thanks god, it came perfect from stock). I believe every phone is different even though its the same model, cuz other people have list out their issues and I have not had any of their issues.

Thank you... here in my country still theres no 4G LTE, so i am going for I9500
Thanks...

The i9500 will be perfect for you then. Its a smarter too. You only need what you can actually use . That is honestly the only difference between the two phones. Both have different chipsets, exynos and Qualcomm, but they are both fast chips that get the job done. Go with what you need. I9500 is better because is a 3G phone first.

New to the Nexus 4 and I need some advice.

Guys I gave my gf a N4 for christmas and she is so disappointed. She switched from the HTC Amaze!
She says that phone is very slow. internet wise. It takes long time to load a youtube video or a search on the internet and sometimes it says no connection.
We are on a tmobile network which the N4 should support the 42 speed like my s3.
She says that it would be nice to have a end kill all on the tast like my 4.2 rom on my s3.
She is not rooted and im trying to convince her that by rooting it and have a custom rom may help her internet problems.
what can you guys recommend on doing to it? Did you had this issue before rooting it? We've done several hard resets and still do it. I know the first step is rooting it. but what rom and what mod should I flash?
maybe a build.prop data speed tweak etc etc.
This is driving me crazy too. The way she nags about it all the damn time.

My favorite combo is codefireX and Franco kernel. It has tons of graphical and functional customizations you can select, scores 2140+ on geekbench 2 and I get 18 hours of battery with 4-5 hours of screen time!

How is the data speed on it? Does it hang all the time? She is a noob so I dont think she will know how to manage a phone that can do all of these tweaks.
Well if you want simple performance and battery get the minico ROM. Super stable, very lightweight and fast. Has all gapps present in the ROM.
You might want to add custom APN settings or you need to enable lte dial *#*#4636#*#*
CrossfireX has a kill all button enabler, has a "hold back and kill current app" and tons more.
In At&t I get 13mb/s which is NOT on lte.

Been looking at that one and at minico. so far minico seems to be the one she likes as it boots the volume on sounds.
13mg/s for att 4g network its pretty fast. I think this phone was build for their 21mgs right?
I havent played with the n4 that much. but she has showed me how slow it is when it comes to browse the web or youtube videos.
with full bars and H on the side.
She is kinda on my nerves because she used to have an htc and she never had problems with it. And now I gave her this phone! lol
been reading on how to root this phone and blah blah...
also pimp my rom have way to tweak the data speed and the touch screen responsive.
have any one of you tested if pimp my rom works for you?
Well you could always sell the nexus for twice what you paid since they haven't been for sale since November 27th.
Did you get then phone from Google or T-Mobile? What speed test results do you get on H?

Nexus 4: the most lagfree android device?

Hi all, the nexus 4 is the devices that I want to buy, but I wanted to ask you something: is it the most lagfree device avaible in the market? How is it after installing many apps? I've read in many reviews that's the smoothest android device, but I would like some confirmations
PS: I have a galaxy ace and I know that the nexus 4 will definitely be a super-upgrade
I've got about 100 or so installed apps and it works just fine.
Edit: just checked. I have 129 apps.
From a Nexus 4 bathing in Jelly Beans
Its definitely one of the fastest out there if not the fastest. The pure Google experience that you get with the phone is awesome. If you like to flash your phone there's a huge variety of roms that can be personalized to the tiniest details, and with the right combination of a rom and a decent kernel you will forget what lag is.

With a nexus 4 you won't "need" to flash anything, you can do it if you want some extra customizations, but even the stock rom is lag free. Install apex or nova launcher and boost animation/window speed, and you'll get an even snappier experience.

I played with HTC One which is claimed to be the fastest, smoothest, and powerful Android phone. Yes it is! But sometimes you will have the stutter feeling when opening apps, just sometimes though, and it is somewhat unpredictable. its fast but not quite like a Nexus. you have to experience it to know what i mean. plus most apps are developed based on a Nexus, so yeah you'll have the best experience.
I have about 113 apps and still no lag. stock everything until last week i flashed franco kernel. planning to jump onto cyanogenmod tomorrow.
With all the things you say, you make me desire more and more the nexus!
I'm on stock, unlocked and rooted with 700hrs of up-time so far, no crashes other than a couple of 3rd party apps and no lag whatsoever =)

Had my N4 since Xmas and whilst the UI is smooth scrolling in certain apps is a pain, like XDA or tapatalk or facebook.
I have tried loads of roms, currently using Sabermod which has the least lag but there is still judder issues with some apps, ALL android devices that I have used (N1, S2, S3, N4) have suffered this problem. Until all major apps act as lag free as my launcher I cannot say the N4 is lag free

hey man, I came from cooper too and now I have an N4. It's a really good phone, specially when you flash franco's kernel and CM10.1 nightlys (yeah, you don't have anymore to wait updates from Maclaw, OldDroid or biel ). Battery life is good, and with franco kernel it's even better.
All the UI and system apps are really smooth, but when using some apps it's a pain to scrool (apps's fault). Videos and music also play without interruptions. Buy it, you will not regret.
Well I also have a note 10.1 and I'm not sure I'm noticing the lag you're talking about in the facebook app...
I've had every galaxy s series phone available from the vibrant to the sII then the s3 tried the s4....and absolutely nothing comes close to the Nexus experience period.

Compared next to the s4 this phone actually opens and closes apps faster by a split second or so, but the dual core s3 is faster than the s4 in my opinion so....

I don't think what you are describing is lag caused by the Nexus 4...
It's lag caused by your data speed.
With your facebook example, scolling sometimes stuters as it downloads the actual data & information from facebook itself.
The facebook app tries to place new information at the top & then it tens to want to automatically jump to the top.
If you were connected to LTE or even a fast WiFi connection that problem would be less noticable.
But as said earlier... it's just bad coding from facebook.
Come on man, the Nexus is amazing...
It has the same amount of RAM as my work computer, & lags less.
Personally I find the Nexus 4 to be a very fast device, I wont say lag free as I can certainly see some lag but is it the fastest device out? You bet, ive played around with a very new note 2 and an s4, the N4 seems to be much faster than the Note2 and marginally faster than the s4 just pressing the home button on those two devices show about .5 seconds slower than my n4 in action.
Battery life? Hmm struggle with mine if I am honest but I get a day now, it seems I get way less than everyone else and I am not sure why but I feel i got unlucky with my device and I pray to god I have a faulty power button or something so I can RMA within the warranty to hope for a new device haha.
Its the best value phone and has pretty much the same specs as the top phones, whats not to like? And its a Nexus .
Maybe I should add that the device is also faster than the iphones/ipads I have used which shocked me as people always praised their performance... lol, the N4 is simply held back by some poorly coded applications but what can you do? Hope Developers get better

I9500 is a fantastic device. Go for it.
What you mentioned are issues prevalent with some of the devices (depends on your luck) and could happen even If you buy any other brand.
The Overheating issue is there on both S4 and HTC one, which occurs while gaming not while using it for day to day activities.
Buy it from an authorized dealer.

I have used I9500 and using HTC one both are very good u can get any one of it if u want lag free device HTC one is for u
And u want more features u should go with S4
.
I have both phones and HTC one does heat quicker and battery is not as good. But phone and screen looks much better then galaxy s4. HTC one has no SD card and no removable battery which some people don't like. Both are great phones. HTC one is much smoother and not laggy as sgs4 but if you apply custom roms that lag goes away.
Sent from my GT-I9505G using xda premium
first - what phone do you have right now?
for me if the phone doesn't have SDcard slot it's worthless so this is my reject on the HTC one
and you can always root and change the startup apps running on the phone background to reduce lag. keep in mind that if you are conservative user - you can keep your S4 running with free 700mb RAM
I've have both. More features on the S4 and there are settings to get rid of the lag. Both cameras are good I like the screen on the HTC One better though. The SD card and removable battery are nice too.

nexus 4 battery life after 4.3 update ?

so let's get to the bottom of the nexus battery life issue. How long is your nexus 4 battery life after 4.3 updated get or last , whether it set to default setting of the device itself or with a minimum setting such a display brightness level, silent profile, etc ?
and do you know how long you need to get your phone fully charged from empty using original n4 charger ? any trick or possible way to charge the phone itself faster ?
I'm just wondering and should I get nexus 4 or moto x ? but F***, I hate when that beautiful phone has been locked by carrier and has a bloatware since I'm a heavy multitask user and most of the time spend his time with browser and apps and whatsapp messenger .
sorry for my bad word but really hoping your honest review for the n4 battery life after 4.3 .
did you get 8 hours if you keep playing with it and also keep turn on and turn off your phone every 10-15 minutes while you're walking or hang out with your friends ?

Some custom kernels like for instance Franco Kernel support fast charging if you are rooted. If i we`re you and you can i would wait for the Nexus 5 that will come out in a few months. The N4 is very cheap atm and batterylife isn`t bad at all. Also depends on user usage and installed apps/widgets and syncing.

whatttt ? you sold your s4 ? how come? I mean and I thought it's great phone, and the time when you feel lagging is the phone is rooted or factory default ?
thank you for your honest opinion cause I know nexus 4 is not great like high end phone such as like htc one but the reason is I wanna get n4 because it has no bloatware and it's the pure android and I'm so happy the carrier didn't put any their apps into that phone.
anyway, nexus 5 will be using LG again? my friend told me will be similar like LG G2
You might start laughing but I just ordered a Nexus 4 to get a feel. If I like it, it might replace my HTC One and when the 5 comes out, it might replace my Note 2.
I'm a plain vanilla user (plain Android no rooting or nothing) and slowly am getting sick of the Wifi, lag and other problems all other phones have.
I got this idea since I switched to the Nexus 10 and noticed that there's maybe less bells and whistles but the thing works very well.

If you think about it the Nexus 4 has the same CPU settings as the S4 and HTC One the only category that it loses in is screen resolution.
Of course the other two phones have more better technology but when it comes to software wise the Nexus 4 will be right up there with them

I seriously think about it. It's not a Google Edition and I'm fed up with all the little things that just don't work. I have the impression that all these overlays (touchwiz and whatever they're called) only cause malfunctioning. My HTC is my business phone so changing it for the Nexus, I'll quickly know what pure android is worth.

talking about pure android that coming from nexus , do we have to clean cache or apps cache from the setting itself every once a week ? such a browser cache , and any other apps cache that we can found from settings-apps-(click random apps icon)- clean cache , ?
I'm confuse and I'm sorry to bring this up such an iPhone we don't have to worry about this cache thing or cache that coming from apps and there's no feature in iPhone like clean cache apps that we need to worry about . (and once again sorry comparing this with apple stuff )
so back to the problem since I'm only talking about google product should we be worry about apps cache ? maybe that's also the reason why the phone can be lagging because too many cache from the apps itself that we didn't notice or care enough to clean it up every once a week ? or by the system default is there any feature that the system will clean the cache that coming from 3rd party apps, background apps (all apps that running in the background). Cause I got paranoid and confuse what should I do , that's why I also install advanced task killer and always set them to high priority and every 30 minutes kill all apps to make sure this phone will always have a room for RAM.
but please correct me if I'm wrong , thank you
Using PA 3.99 and faux enhanced stock kernel I still have ~80% battery left after over 8 hours of use (using the phone every 10-15 mins or so). I always use automatic brightness set to medium. Not too sure what "battery life issue" you are trying to get to the bottom of.
As for the task killers/ cache cleaners, there's really no point. All you are really doing is making your phone work harder to do nothing at all. You should be thinking of unused RAM as wasted RAM. If your phone needs more RAM to run something it will free some up as needed. The task killers are really just using more RAM and battery.

sorry, but what do you mean by PA 3.99 ? and faux ? is it hard to change the kernel for a beginner or a person didn't know how to rooted or modified any kernel ? and also modified kernel or changing the kernel, is that gonna affected to the device to become unstable ? and I believe changing the kernel is coming from unofficial google, am I right ?

May be Switching from Note 3 to Moto X Pure

So obviously it's about time for me to get a new phone, considering mine is never going to make it past 5.0 lollipop and various other reasons. I just want to know what to expect if I do end up getting the Moto X Pure. Will I be happy/satisfied with my purchase? Will there be a huge learning curve?

I would say go for it if you don't care about the Spen. The Note 3 is a great phone but I enjoy the Pure alot more. There is no bloat to speak of and you can unlock the bootloader and flash whatever you want. Camera wise the Pure is better. I especially like the Moto display where you can wave your hand in front of the lock screen to see your notifications and unlock it instead of pressing buttons. I would suggest to get at least a 32GB or more model. I currently have the 16GB one and find it too small so I have a 64GB on it's way. It makes things easier when flashing ROMs because you don't need to format the external SD to adaptive storage.

Any issues/quirks I should know of? A review I read said it doesn't really have an amazing battery life

I can't totally answer that yet because I just got this one a few days ago and have been flashing things quite a bit. So far I'm happy with it.

Im not sure why those reviews say that.
I constantly get 4 - 5hrs screen on time, occasionally it'll get 6hrs screen on time, that was on stock non rooted.
I've also recently rooted and flashed xposed with gravity box and still continue to get very acceptable battery life.
i have the US version of the Pure. Not sure if my phone just got a good battery.

I came from note 3 as well. On it since it came out. I've seen quite a spread on what people get. I'll low ball and say definitely 3 1/2, 4 1/2 with some management. Better build than 3 (expected). You'll have to get used to the color changes. Samsung saturates, so remember that. Someone posted getting 32 at least. I definitely agree with that statement. Don't bother with 16, even with the availability of SD card. Great radio. Unlocked for carriers. Price can't be beat. Only other option would be Nexus 6P.

I was running stock until a couple hours ago and decided to try AICP. So far it's running great.
Def agree with everyone to get 32gb or above. What took me by surprise is this phone has no LED notification.....unless your rooted and running a rom which supports it (most do). Also when you root you will be able to control doze much more efficiently and get much better standby battery. This has the brightest screen I have ever seen (have it on 5%-10% while indoors), great audio jack/speaker sound/reception/camera and battery charges ridiculously quick. It's safe to say you will love this phone.
plz dont buy, battery life is pathetic and if you use xposed it would be worse, i mean really really worse, it feels like 2000mah sometimes :/ , i need to sell it now, and using old nexus 6 again

@spookykidmm, don't listen to this clown. Xposed doesn't affect battery life. If you're running some janky modules, you could run in to issues, but that's not Xposed. Additionally, normal battery life is not pathetic. Battery life on the Galaxy S6 is pathetic. I usually average between 5-6 hrs SOT depending on usage (with or without Xposed). Typically the people on here that complain are in the minority... that's true for nearly every phone. And a lot of times, they screw things up on their own and blame the phone

Do you think root and xposed is necessary for a good experience?

Since battery depends on many variables like screen brightness, signal strength, apps installed, sync frequency, etc....your setup could be giving you horrible battery life, but explain to me how xposed makes battery that much worse....you must have many modules incorrectly configured.
My girlfriend upgraded from her Note 3 to the Moto X Pure when I upgraded at the same time from my LG G4 to this and we're both EXTREMELY satisfied. Dev support is on the rise so you'll have a few choices in ROMs. I'm currently rockin' TruPureXMM v2.5 with Franken Kernel using his Battery Profile settings, xPosed with GravityBox, Amplify & XGPM and can honestly say I couldn't be much happier with the experience overall.
We have the 64 GB models and neither of us use an sdCard since it's been more than enough for us. Google Photos keeps our photos stored and Google Play Music is our choice of service (Family Plan for $14.99 a month) which lets us stream our over 23,000 song collection and gives us access to any song on Google Play with no ads and since we have T-Mobile the music streaming isn't going against our high speed data, which is very nice. As other are saying, you will enjoy the dual-front speakers, the screen is great, and battery life is within reasonable acceptance. You can squeeze more out of it fairly easily with some tweaking and the quick-charge is INSANE. You can't beat the charger that comes with this phone.
