At the moment I am running CM10 with Franco Kernel. I often take the phone out of my pocket and usually have 1 of 2 issues, either I have no signal at all, I let the phone sit but still it doesn't pick up the network, I go into search and automatically and that immediately kicks the signal up to full strength again.
The other issue is I have signal but no data, Signal might be full but no data, the only way I can get data to come back on is via a reboot which is a bit of a pain in the behind
Has anyone else had these issue?

I have a Vibrant...stock and I haven't received the update yet. Houston, TX area.
For the past 3-4 days, I keep randomly losing my network signal. No 3g, no Edge. Rebooting the phone or putting it in and out of Flight Mode will wake it up. Otherwise I think it would stay dead regardless of what I do or if I move around. I am in normal areas that should have decent 3g signals and have never given me issues before with this phone.
Any ideas? Maybe weird network issues in the area or definitely a problem with the phone itself? Maybe the OTA update will clear it out?

This actually happened to me couple times last night, first when i turned off wifi and 2nd time i was on 3g and suddenly data signal was gone completely
I'm on ji6
Same problem here. I upgraded to froyo and then get back to 2.1. Had a fix drawbacks but it is now working fine until I noticed this problem where the signal is dropped. Sometimes it says that the sim card do not allow to connect to that operator, but when I try a few more times it reconnects. I'm waiting samsung release again froyo to update the phone and try to fix this problem.
So, basically I work in an old (WWII) building. I get no signal in my office and when I've been there for an hour or so and come back outside to get a signal it won't come back unless I reboot the phone.
Does anybody know of anything I can do beside setting airplane mode every time I walk inside? Turning the radio off and on doesn't work.
If this is a repeat thread, I apologize but I'm not having any luck finding this specific issue.
Since using EB01 I've noticed my signal bars going frequently from 2-3 bars down to 1-0 bars, yet checking the signal strength in the About Phone>Status section it is consistently in the -80s, which is relatively good signal.
After a while I started noticing that if my 3G icon was showing up and/or down activity, it would show only 1 or 0 bars, yet when it switched to "D" (meaning dormant), it would shoot back up to 2-3 bars, until data started flowing again then it would go back to 0-1 bars.
As I started troubleshooting this, I was using the Speedtest.net app to check my download speeds. When data was showing that low, it would either time out or would give very low speeds (in the 100k's both up & down). Sometimes it would go up to the 200-300k's.
Now here's what I don't understand: if I turn off my data connection, then turn it back on, my data connection goes back up to 2-3 bars again, and download tests go back to the 600k-1mbps speeds again. So it's like it's losing data reception until a fresh connection is made.
I've tried both some of the Superclean ROMs including the latest 2.8. I've been using the EB01 voodoo kernel. I also recall when I was running the EA28 OTA update before rooting that it was happening as well. Right now I'm back to the stock debloated deodexed ROM with the same voodoo kernel and switched to the DL09 baseband radio and had this happen.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Does anyone recommend a certain ROM/kernel/baseband combination to see if it will help?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You know, I never really paid it too much mind, but I MIGHT have a similar situation. Though, I don't have to reset the connection, it just up and down drastically a lot. I will look into this myself, see if I can find anything to help you.
Yup. I had this problem too. I had a phone that initially came with DH rom. After I flashed EB01 modem and rom, I was missing 3G for 30 seconds after I wake the phone up. Practically the same symptoms: bad battery life, low up/down 3G speeds (I had ~100Kb/s max). I tried to flash different modems DI, DJ, DL, EB, tried different non-voodoo kernels, different roms, nothing helped. Even ODIN back to full stock DI01 did not solve the problem.
Solved with getting a replacement phone. After I got a replacement with EA28, I got double battery life and great up/down speeds. So right now I am wondering: should I risk my phone to flash leaked EB01 again?
Hi,
My phone is losing signal every little bit. It usually drops the signal when is sleeping. I realized that when I try to call somebody it shows me pop up that there is no signal and after few sec signal shows up. Its really annoying. I have Slimcat ROM and I believe that isn't a ROM problem because that issue I had with other ROMs.
Im on a stock rom and signal has always been an issue with me too, im betting its hardware and or just Sprints crappy service.
It could also be an hardware issue, I believe that the phone signal is also on the back cover so the back cover might be a bit loose/makes a noise if you squeeze it a bit, so the contact might be not 100%
Ok, I will check the contacts so I will let you guys know
I need help this is driving me insane!
I've been running Dynamic Kat Rom for about 6 months or so now. Everything was working fine then all of a sudden a week or two ago I noticed my mobile data is not enabling at all.
I can only connect on Wifi and only receive SMS.
I've tried
- Messing will all the data/network settings
- Turning Mobile Data on and off -- no effect
- Toggling Airplane Mode on and off as suggested in some places
- Wiping everything but Data and reflashing latest ROM
- Reseating the SIM card
- several other things I forgot..
I do see the carrier information in the top left (AT&T) and I am getting signal bars.. but not indicator for 4G/LTE/etc
I've been messing with this for a week now and it's driving me insane.. I can't get a connection anywhere unless I'm on Wifi.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not super phone savvy, but willing to try any suggestions anyone may have.
Hmmm.. weird.
So I called AT&T and asked them about it.. figuring it could possibly be a carrier issue.
They told me to try things I had already done 100 times.. turn the phone off and on.. turn wifi off... etc.
I turned Wifi off... (which I had done 50,000 times before) and 4G popped up.
I guess they did something. So.. guess it's resolved.
Problem has returned.. same issue. I will have 4G signal for hours and then all of a sudden it will drop completely and I can't get a data signal no matter what I do.
I see AT&T in the corner and have signal bars, so I AM getting some kind of signal.. but no data connection whatsoever.
It seems completely random and intermittent.. I can have data signal for days with no issues then I will lose it for days.
Restarting the phone 5-20 times sometimes fixes it.. but that's about it. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
Bad signal / carrier issue?
Call them and report a fault in your area?
I have called them multiple times, they will reset the signal.. sometimes it will come back right away, sometimes it wont.
And this happens regardless of where I am. I know for a fact where I am right now has a great signal strength. I get 4-5 bars on average. But this also happens at home as well about 20 miles away, which also has a good signal, or anywhere I go really it can happen. This isn't in the middle of nowhere either, it's smack in the middle of SoCal (LA/OC)
I'm beginning to think it may be a SIM card issue or a hardware issue with the phone. I'm going to try asking them to send me a new SIM card.
Another thing I will notice is when I have a working 4G LTE connection, and I'm on Wifi... it will sometimes CONSTANTLY switch back and forth between wifi and 4G like every 10 seconds, even when I have full signal strength on Wifi and 4G.
Disable Smart Network Switching in WiFi settings
it's nothing but a buggy headache, disabling might fix most of your problems, almost certainly the constant switching back and forth
Yeah forgot to mention I have disabled that. It's disabled now. It solves the constant switching back and forth (when I actually have a data connection), but that's kind of a separate issue as the losing data connection.
