Wireless Power & Charger (Android, Windows Phone, & Raspberry Pi?) - Hardware Hacking General

So, I have been playing with Wireless Power for a bit with my Nokia Lumia 920 but now I am kick-starting a project to make a cheap edition BUT also letting those who do NOT have WP built-in, the ability to hookup a Micro USB plug to have Wireless Power.
Anyone have any suggestions on if they would want a mat or a piece of plastic?

Buying direct from dell what's included ?

I'm thinking of buying a streak direct from dell to use with my 3uk sim
Looking on their website exactly what's included with the basic model as usb cable and chArger show as separate purchases
I never attach my desire to my pc so my question is does it come with a normal charger surely it does ?
Also notice that 2.1 isn't for direct purchases only o2 customers any idea when it will be released presume its delayed cos the 2.1 has screwed up most o2 customers phones - I'm hoping dell are delaying for 2.2 release
Just another question has anyone found a holder which u can clip to ur belt to carry the phone ? And has anyone bought the car kit does it rattle or is it sturdy ?

Anyone ? Someone must have bought direct from dell

It comes in a neat little box; including earphones, USB cable, and a charger!
To update to 2.1 just have a look at the appropriate thread in the forums...
Success!
i bought it directly from DELL UK. IN the box were
Dell Streak
Wall Adapter with USB on 1 end.
USB Cable to Connect the Streak to PC or Wall Charger
Headset
Sleeve to hold the streak in. Nylon i believe
As for the Case question PDAIr has got some cases that you can use or you can search ebay for easycase or something. Look in the accessories forum there are links for it.
^^ everything above but don't forget either a 16GB Micro SD card or pay extra for a 32GB Micro SD card.
I would recommend easecase off ebay where you can get a custom made leather case for £25 (though you'll have to wait about a month for it) but you can choose the orientation, have exposed or hidden magnets or buttons to secure the lap, whether it has a belt clip, pocket or a belt loop, the colour and type of leather on the outside and the colour and fabric on the inside, have your name or whatever embosed on to the front of the case and if need be, to increase the size of the case for a looser fit.
There are plenty of universal phone holders that will hold the phone one way or another (I'm currently using a clingo sticky pad holder thing) but I've read that the official car holder wobbles a lot due to the flexible arm and the weight of the phone. Tho it's worth noting that for a 12v to USB adaptor, the adaptor needs to output 1000mA and have the 2 middle pins shorted in order for the adaptor to charge the Dell. Some will already have the 2 pins shorted but a lot of them don't.
Excellent thanks just how stable is 1.6 cos I know on my hero it was horrible Bluetooth would never work properly ....

I find connecting to audio devices is fine (mine auto connects to my car stereo whenever I get in and start the car) but I have had a couple of issues transfering items via bluetooth to other devices. Android doesn't seem to allow file transfer by default but you can download bluetooth file transfer off the market for free and it works most of the time, but sometimes it just doesn't want to play. Also, transfering items eats up battery big time!

TV Out

Is there any way to turn off the screen whilst using the tv out function? It seems a waste to leave it on, and given how much I watch tv, would significantly limit the phones screen life.
Also curious if its possible to display different things on both the phone and tv? For example using the tv as the display and phone as a controller for gaming.
First of all, where did you get the tv out cable? Is it suppose to come with the phone? Because I didnt get one :-(
you have to buy them separatly (less than 5 dollar) and you need a special adapter aswell (not out yet)
All you need is a Nokia TV out cable, I bought one from e-bay for less than £2, 3$.
The cable plugs into the earphone socket at the phone end, and into the component IP on the TV.
Works well on mine.
Nice question i think...i guess it would be much nicer if our SGS could do separation both display on TV and on screen itself...

check the accessories section, there is a hot topic there about this cable

Kindle Fire no USB cable

I just received my KF today in the mail and the package only came with the KF itself and a wall charger. Is it supposed to include a data USB cable?
Nope. There's just the Kindle, charger and the little piece of cardboard telling you to turn it on iirc.
Wow nice, poor choice on Amazon's part. I understand it depends on the Cloud but not everyone is using it. Now I have to buy an aftermarket cable to put anything on it. I'm a bit disappointed.
My Kindle came with a normal USB cable you can remove from the wall part and put into computer...I don't think it would be any different. Just like all chargers from HTC Samsung etc lately

Yeah, I thought the same thing. For now I use my Evo 3D's USB cable, that works.
I'm looking into getting this cable from Newegg.com.
If your buying the usb cable online go to monoprice. They are cheap and there cables are nice.
I do not work for or own mono price but I have bought all my cables from them hdmi and so on.

It does not come with a usb cable, just the device, power cord (ac adapter with a usb micro connected to the end) and a cardboard brief info card... That is it.
As a wifi device, no usb cable is required, though you can use one to save files from your computer.

No, it doesn't come with a usb cable. I've been using dropbox to get files over. Though I have a dozen micro usb cables lying around.

Inductive Charging for Nexus 7?

Would this be possible? I know you can achieve AC charging on the Galaxy Nexus with the palm pre inductive charger but would it be possible with the nexus 7? Does it simply not give out enough power to charge the tablet.
Just noticed HP touchpad has it as well....should have done more research! Maybe this will become an info thread for people willing to attempt it since the back cover is easily removable.
So the touchpad charger (wired) will charge the N7. Does anyone know how much the touchstone puts out? I would like to have this charging mod on my Gnex and my N7 soon with just one touch stone in my house. Just want to make sure the touch stone can put out enough juice for the nexus 7.
Thank you,

Not sure but don't think it would work. I have it on my gnex and the touchstone puts out 1 amp where the N7 stock charger puts out 2 amps. If it did work it would prolly take twice as long to charge but I could be wrong!

HP Touchpad also uses 2 amps charger (in fact won't work with any other) by default and touchstone can charge it even it it's competelly dead. Full charge takes about 4-5h (i usualy charged it during the night), but i never bothered to check how much amps it gives via touchstone. I think it should should work with Nexus 7 as well.
That's what I saw, and also on the HP site it said same Approx. charge time as wired charger. Has anyone torn down the HP touchstone yet anywhere? I'm very interested in this. Wireless charging at home and possibly as a car mount as well.

Any luck with wireless charging mod yet? Would love this feature!!!
Nokia makes a wireless charging adapter, it plugs into a microusb and lets the phone work with their charging plate. I bet you could take that apart and it would be easier to find then touchstone stuff because you can buy it new. I'll see if I can find a link.

nokia 822 Qi with touchstone

i purchased the nokia 822 and wireless charging back and found a touchstone(for the palm pre) on amazon for 8$ with 2 day shipping. and the 822 works flawlessly with it! it even magnetically stays in place! enjoy this information and pass it on! much cheaper than verizon or nokias hard to find 50 crap.

careful, it has been proven many times that it is in fact not working. The phone acts like it's charging when you place it onto the charger but it is not. I have a Lumia 920 and thought it works with my HP Touchpad wireless charger - nope. Some people actually reported negative effects such has discharge.
details here

many more in other places. just search touchstone nokia lumia
I did notice that if the phone is on it will not charge completely, but holds at about 90%, phone off it seems to charge fully
