Whenever I'm in a call the other person always hear an echo of his own voice. I have no sound problem. It's a I9505.
Anyone know if this is a hardware of a software problem? Anything I could do to fix it?
I bought the phone from an online store, so replacing it could takes weeks .

You are not alone*!
Different callers told me they hear their own voice, too. Are you using tho stock ROM*? Which variant of the phone do you own*?
I own a i9505 with a Google play based ROM.

I have the same problem, at least since december.
I have mine with kitkat since then, but I see you had the same problem earlier on.
Any solution?
Certainly microphone failure.

Does anybody else have problems where the person you call hears them selves talk? There voice is echoing!
Does flashing a custom rom stop this or is it because of the Crystal Talk stuff?
Thanks
It is possible that you're using speakers and the voice is so loud that they actually hear themselves? If you have not flash a custom rom and you're on official rom then no, you should ask the company to look into this if you still have the warranty.

It's not on loud speaker and the volume is at the lowest point. I only got it on Thursday arranged for it to go back.
Does it do it everywhere? I have had problems with all of my tmobile phones on occasion. Not sure why. My last phone used to do it all the time. Very annoying. Only had it happen once with the defy in the last month.

Never had it before with any phone I have owned. It's seems to be worse when i'm outside when the wind is hitting the second mic, also when this happens it sort of makes it sort of sound like i've got my head in a box when I talk. Hope that makes sense? Iv'e tried all the call quality settings but it's still the same. It has to be this Crystal Talk Type or what ever it is..
Thanks for the reply guys.
Our of curiosity, while this is happening, have you tried opening the usb cover to see if that changes the sound. There is at least one report of a "pressurized" effect on the Defy (as it's sealed) causing sound issues, relieved when the ysb cover or battery cover are removed.

hhmmmmm interesting, I did think about the hands free speaker being behind the battery cover when I tried calling someone and they said it was terrible echo.
I'll go and try it and let you know.
Thanks

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me, I have a major speakerphone issue! When I enable speakerphone, the other party cannot hear me. I tried different ROMs but that didn't change anything. However, voice recording and voice commands are working just fine. I'm wondering if there is something I can do? Or does it mean that I have a physical defect?

Have you searched for apps in the market for apps that check the functionality of the parts of your phone? Or you can go to a service center and they can check it. For example, I have ATT, and my first Sony Ericsson phone was messed up and I had to get it checked at their service center. They have ways of checking stuff like that I think.

Thanks for your answer. I couldn't find an app specifically for that. Also, I bought it from someone, so no warranty
Thing is, I refuse to believe its defective, seeing as I'm able to record sound and use voice dialer. That would use the same mic as the speakerphone, no?
Also, I did another test where I created a loud noise near the mic and I was able to hear it on the other phone, but very very low volume. Could it be that something is messed up with the volume?
Is there a way to do a full format of my phone, just to test?
Thanks.
Well, it does seem that my secondary mic is screwed up.
Anyone know if there's a way to force speakerphone to use the primary mic instead?
It would just pick up sound from the speaker and echo

So I guess I'm SOL? Damn it.
Would motorola honour the warranty if I don't have the receipt?

They might. You can also see if the can take a receipt or paper of a bank statement when you bought the phone.

I opened a request online with Motorola, altough I'm not really hopeful.
Wish me luck!
Hi,
I have problem with my Nexus 4 on stock soft, it was present on 4.3, now after update to 4.4 nothing changed. Issue remains.
When I put loudspeaker on during call, person I am talking to says that he barely or even doesn't hear me.
It's a bit ironic, because while googling for the solution I've found that people tend to have issue with normal mode and turning on speaker mode fixes the issue. Out of the 2 I prefer my problem, nevertheless I talk a lot while driving, so this is annoying. Any one encountered this issue? Is there simple fix or I have to service my brand new phone?
Did you ever find a fix, this happens with my nexus 4.

I still have that issue and still no solution for it. Anybody?
Any resolve this issue?
I've noticed this issue on my nexus 4 as well.
When I have the loudspeaker on, its as if the microphone is picking up noise or something constantly. So if I'm on an automated menu (lets say when calling a bank) and you're suppose to say say your account number, the system will immediately say "we did not get that...etc" as if my phone microphone is always picking something up. Also when I talk to people on it, they say they have troubles hearing me.
I have no issues when on regular (non loudspeaker) mode though.
Most of the times.. It is a software issue... Try flashing the stock firmware.. From Google developers website

Has anyone had issues with running Ok Google from all screens? I am not sure if it is a network issue or a Ok Google issue but about 6 times I have had problems with incoming and outgoing calls. When I answer or dial out you can not hear on my end and the person calling/being called can not hear either. It is like the microphone and the speaker are both muted. It may be a coincidence but since I turned off Ok Google from all screens it has not occurred again. ATT said they thought it may have been a network problem.

My phone calls have been fine, but it lead to people being unable to hear me over Hangouts and Skype.

I am hoping it was a network issue, I think that may be what it is.

I've been having this issue. When I enable OK Google from all screens, I could get one call through with no issues. Subsequent calls connected (I could see on the phone that it dialed, rang on the other end, and was answered), but I heard no ringing or voice. The caller on the other end could not hear me either. Disable OK Google Everywhere fixed the issue. It's been reported on Android Central as well.

I know this is an old thread, but I have been having the same problem on my phone. Has anyone found a solution for this?
I am stuck with an annoying problem. The other parties can NOT hear my voice. I have tried recording voice using voice recorder and it works. What it could be a hardware or software issue.
The phone is an official kitkat, not rooted.

I dont know the exact location of the mute/unmute button but there is one in the lg app i believe so its not an hardware issue and probably also not an software one cause you have maybe clicked the button accidently. Can you go through the dialer app to find some settings where that might be located? But i guess you need to call someone first again to enable your mic

No that can't be the cause , the problem goes after rebooting the phone sometimes and sometimes do not even after restart. It is quite random.

Well you can might consider to reflash stock or do factory reset if it just goes like that but i dont think its an hardware issue if you dont have mic during call but recording you have but the g2 has 2 microphones i thought so maybe one of them is failing or what. I could be wrong since i am thinking bout lots of phones atm.
I was thinking same. but factory reset is very bothering, all installed applications and data will be gone. . I am also much confident that it is not an hardware issue
Well the onky thing i can say is to look again in the dialer and incall ui to see the mute button and press unmute, try to logcat, look in the settings app and or google more about the second mic how you can test it cause i dnt know how out of my head.
software problem
