I think there are even more new small features that I didn't put in list. It’s understandable that samsung didn't put those S-Pen features in our S3 however it’s actually still can be done for some of them. But S3 hardware is able to support the other features and Samsung should have put them in official JB ROM to further enhance our experience. Do you think they will ever come to S3 officially?
The new gallery and camera with the slow and fast motions are available, smart rotation and popup browser got ported as well. And paper artist can be installed with no problems.

I'm not asking for ports and that's also why I'm posting under general.
nice thread was planning to make one but was 2 lazy thanks.... soon wil b ported here.. we already hav cam, smart rotation, gallery here

Well the Note 2 was only released a few months after the S3 so you would expect these extra features , there's nothing really "revolutionary" that the Note 2 has that the S3 doesn't,i quite like the gallery in the Note 2 there was a flashable zip doing the rounds but no matter how many times i tried i couldn't get it tio work yet it was working fine when i flashed Dragon ROM (or was it Android Revolution) which had it included already.

ya true ...we already have
1. new gallery
2. new camera
3. smart rotation
all ported..
only thing left is multi view
The note 2 gallery´s that i found all have one bug, when set wallpaper from tw give fc
Anyone have a gallery that works 100%?
As soon as I get my device I'm flashing Siyah, then will probably stick to stock, Flash new Camera and gallery and some other Note II stuff.
Either way Phones4u have both phones on display side by side and the Note II has the advantage with software, I just hope Samsung don't be stuck up and decide to bring most of the features to the S3.
If it is about other Samsung devices, and its capabilities which I'd like to have onboard my S3, I would mention 8GB RAM, 1GB Nvidia graphic, and 750GB HDD which I have on my Samsung laptop. It has simcard slot, so can be used as the phone, either.
Guys, RLY? While I can understand that someone would compare 9305 with 9300 because both are phones, calling for Note 2 seems a bit strange...
ups - almost forget to ask that someone should port 5x50W audio output from my Samsung Home Cinema system

Don't confused between hardware and software. Software is flexible while hardware is not. I said no point having s-pen features in s3 but not the other.

So the note 2 has the same camera assembly as s3? if it is, that is a bummer.
That is what is nice of Android. Everything ported. Devs are awesome!

Underlined are what ported already. Bolded are what not ported yet. I think what most of us really want from Note 2 is Multi Window. We could care less about S Pen stuffs. I know you're talking about Samsung themselves giving it to us (instead of ports from amazing devs), but don't you remember the old days when Samsung refused to give ICS update to Galaxy S I9000? At the end of that device's life span, Samsung pushed an update giving many Galaxy S2 features like Touchwiz 4.0 including a few others. So, my money is on Samsung giving those features to S3 users. But the real question is when.

For the camera, if I'm not wrong only 1/3 of features is ported. Wasn't S3 too early to get value pack treatment? There should be one more android update. I understand what you mean, we might only get them when near eol.

People keep saying Smart Rotation is ported, but I can't find it anywhere. Any links please? That seems to be the only useful feature Samsung implemented since Galaxy S1.

Why not use this thread as a count of how many features have been ported and which are not.
Add things like Gallery, Camera, Popup Browser etc with a strike-through on them.
To show that those have been ported, and which have not been.
Cheers.

"I just found this out yesterday but the Note 2 has a separate controller for gathering sensor data.
In short, unlike previously where the CPU had to wake up to gather data, a dedicated low power processor takes care of this!
It works for the accelerometer, magnetosensor, and orientation sensors for sure. It may also work for the other ones.
Source: Samsung SGS2 Note Development Engineer i talked to yesterday at Samsung's Tech Fair"
http://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/12tsna/did_you_know_the_galaxy_note_2_has_a_low_power/
I thought you guys would like to know from this sharing.
And what will this will benefit us as a user?? Is it mean our N2 will feedback more faster for all d sensor? Any example? Sorry for such stupid question..just want some confirmation..
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I think with the 'low power' part, it's a way to save battery.
Also, with a separate controller for those other functions, the main CPU can keep to other tasks more efficiently.
At least that's my speculation.
Opss..already discussed here..

ARE THESE FEATURE WORTH BUYING OR JUST SAMSUNG GIMMICKS WHICH WE CAN GET SOME TIME LATER ON NOTE 2 ?WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK ABOUT IT ?
Air Gestures: Refers to hand movements made above the phone's display, without coming into contact with the display, that controls the phone. Common gestures include waving your hand over the display to skip a track or waving left and right to switch between open web pages in the browser. These gestures only work with specific Samsung apps.
Air View: Like the stylus on the Galaxy Note 2, you can hover over the display with your finger to view information about certain pieces of content. For example, hovering your finger over an email shows you a longer preview without opening the message; hovering your finger over a date on the calendar shows you a quick view of what to expect on that day.
Drama Shot: Camera feature that shoots 12 photos at once and shows you a time-lapse of all the action in those photos combined into one picture.
Dual Camera: Activates both the rear camera and the front camera, so that the photographer can superimpose himself or herself into the subject of the photo. Samsung gave as an example someone watching football superimposing himself or herself into the game.
Dual Video Call: While video-chatting with someone, you can show them both your face and the view from your rear camera while you chat.
Group Play: Allows multiple Galaxy S4 owners in close proximity to join a private network in which they can, among other things, play a game.
S Health: New app that acts as a fitness tracker and food diary. The Galaxy S4 has a built-in pedometer to count your steps, and you can take photos of your meals each day to keep count of your calories and eating habits. Samsung will also sell a fitness bracelet, a digital scale and fitness belt to measure blood pressure, pulse, glucose levels and weight for those interested.
S Translator: An app in which you can input any of 10 languages and receive a translation, either spoken or in text. Also works to translate text on your email, text messages and a few other Samsung apps.
S Voice Drive: New hands-free function for drivers that allows the driver to operate the phone with his or her voice.
Samsung Adapt Display: The Galaxy S4 "learns" what you are viewing and adjusts the display's brightness accordingly. If the phone senses you are reading an article, for example, it will illuminate from a more muted brightness.
Samsung Adapt Sound: Similar to Adapt Display, your audio can adapt to the content you're listening to (video, music, etc.) and optimize itself to that content.
Samsung Optical Reader: Camera feature that can snap a photo of a business card and import that information into a new contact in your phonebook. Was not working as of demo time, but Samsung reps assured me it would be fixed by the time it shipped to consumers.
Samsung Smart Pause: When watching a video, the front camera can sense when your eyes move away from the screen and pause the video automatically if you aren't looking.
Samsung Smart Scroll: When you are reading an email or article on the web, you can scroll up and down by tilting the device up and down rather than swiping with your finger.
Samsung WatchON: A built-in IR sensor lets you control your television set with your smartphone. Comes with a standard remote and a program guide depending on your cable provider. Can also control certain cable boxes and DVD players.
Share Music: When linked with Group Play, multiple Galaxy S4s can work as surround sound speakers, all playing the same song at once.
Sound & Shot: Allows you to record up to nine seconds of audio at the time of taking each photo.
Story Album: Templates that allow you to create a digital photo journal or scrapbook from a certain event. You can also then order and print out that story album for a fee.
Omg this is exciting I am buying one for sure is there any image of the actual device ??

Agreed, the actual hardware of the s4 isn't that Much better than the Note 2. For my uses the Note 2 is already fast as **** and with plenty 0t battery life. It strikes me that most of the desirable functions of the s4 are software based, and even then I don't think they are exciting enough to make me want to give up the s-pen. It's just too damn handy to be able to use your phone just like a pen & notepad.

But i suspect the Drama feature will no be ported on note 2 as it may require Octa processing speed what says guys ?

Wait, i'm not so expert, but i read about the Octa that works like two separeted Quad. So the point is that S4 is not 2x much powerful, but only for the Ghz of his best Quad... Maybe I'm wrong, but I suppose that will be no problem for the feature that are not requesting the IR sensor or the umidity sensor or something similar.
This air gesture is a pretty old feature which I was using on my old Nokia, it was a 3rd party application that used the front camera to detect the motion of your hands over the screen and swipe photos or pages. Nothing new and certainly not a samsung innovation. Really disappointed as I find it too hyped up.

Btw... Am I the only one who is disappointet by the lack of HDR video?
patience guys......most of the software features on s4 are going to come to the note2..(as confirmed by the top guns at samsung)....but need to wait for the updates..4.2.2
At the first impulse, I wouldn't mind selling my Note 2 and getting an S4, mostly because I think I wouldn't miss the extra screen size (0.5" now) and I would like the decrease in chassis size/weight. Also I'd really like to have an IR emitter to be able to control the TV and other devices.
The other features are mostly software, not a big step up from what I have in the N2.
However, I think I would miss the SPen - I got really used to it and don't consider it a useless gadget anymore. It is great. Extra precision compared to any fingers and a screen that is always clean and shiny.
Plus I finally stopped thinking about battery and plugging in and charging. With the S2 I got an extended huge 2700mAh battery and even that could not compare to the Note2's battery. I now use the device fully from when I get up at 0730 till 1am and when I go to sleep it is usually still around 55% battery. I don't want to go back to a puny battery...
Note 3 will have same spec like S4 with more big screen, battery n S pen..thats for sure if following its history..

Flagship Phones from Galaxy series (S 3, Note 2) to get new software features
In an interview with PC Mag, Samsung VP of Portfolio Planning, Nick DiCarlo revealed that most of software features found on the Galaxy S4 will make their way to the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 2 via firmware updates.
Features like the S Translator, S Health, the new S Voice Drive and basically any new software that you can find in Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and isn’t dependent on the new hardware and sensors should be available to the rest of the company’s high-end devices soon.
Whoa this just blasts iphone 5 away. It looks like apple will have to keep up with their 5s.

The more i look at it i think it's a Note 2 mini on steroids.

I love my note 2 but I'm going to change my wife s3 to s4 which looks better in my opinion. I'll wait for note 3. I hope that size will stay pretty same just screen will be stretched like3 on s4 form 5.5 to max 6!

So some of the new features sound pretty nifty and useful e.g. air gesture and air view if you have dirty hands (can wave your hand over the screen to answer a call or scroll in a webpage etc). Any chance of bringing those features to our nexus 4? Think the s4 firmware is available now...

AFAIK AirView takes advantage of some hardware features that aren't part of the N4, so will probably not happen at all.
Ah ok. I assumed it just used the front facing camera and the software analyses what it 'sees' in which case it could happen
Air view and air gestures make use of additional sensors.. An extra proximity sensor as well as a special screen technology.. You will never be able to use them on N4

I am looking forward to Tuesday launch. I know it will be water resistant, dustproof, better camera and more memory plus memory card. But for me, it must offer at least 25 % more battery life to compensate for non replacable battery. I don't like to lose the ir blaster but will accept that. For me it's the battery life that's the deal maker. What's you requirements to upgrade?

Unless I'm having problems with my N910C, I won't be upgrading anytime soon.
To be completely honest with you, with the advent of pokemon go, rocking the note 4 is like driving a tank, it's simply unstoppable with 2 batteries.
If the 4000mah rumour does turn out to be true, perhaps I will consider it. Otherwise, the note 4 is still serving me well.
If it is only available with an "edge" screen, there is no possible combination of other features that could possibly convince me to buy it. That is the dumbest gimmick in the industry.
First of all here's a post i already posted about my opinion about the note 7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67998579&postcount=7
Secondly, here's the youtube link to the note 7 live reveal:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pub99oq-6fI
I'm fairly disappointed that it's only available with the curved edges. I just can't seem to agree, that feature has any use and creates hassle holding the phone and less fall resistant. I'm gonna pass the Note 7 even though I was waiting for it desperately, at least for now the excitement is over.
Feature I like is water/dust resistant and that's pretty much it. 4GB ram and edge screen are the deal breakers for me.
No, I sticking with the Note 4.
I don't need the extra Note 7 features/improvements (yet).
I only wish the fingerprint scanner on the Note 4 was touch instead of swipe.
I like the idea of it being waterproof...correction, water-resistant!
Having had a play with a Microsoft surface book, the iris scanner should be awesome.
However, I want to see what LG bring to the table with the V20 before I commit to a Note 7.
