About a month ago I installed a clockwork based recovery app from the market. I tried restoring and this failed leaving the phone unbootable.
Since then I have tried flashing MANY other sbf`s using rsd lite but this has made the situation worse. I think that I even flashed one for the defy+
Now all I get is either a blank screen or a M logo when I switch on.
Pressing power & volume down doesn`t work so I can`t access the stock recovery menu
I can access the bootloader using power & volume up so i can flash more sbf`s but I`ve tried most of them but none will boot.
BTW the phone was running cm7.1 before I had all this trouble and the battery has been fully charged (in another defy)
Is there any way I can clear off all the stuff I`ve been installing and start from fresh? or can anyone tell me how to get the phone to boot?
I have searched for a solution in the forums but most of the replies involve clearing the cache which I cant do as I cant get to the recovery menu.
Any helpful comments will be gratefully received
many thanks
Jeff H
Your flashs complete with Finish/Pass, or just "please manually power up this phone"?
If it's the later, read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38187413&postcount=2
Just stick to the most highest Defy+ sbf build, or just use DFP-231 build to be sure.

Thanks for the reply
I flashed the DFP-231 sbf file as you suggested but it wouldn`t boot any further than the M logo.
I did get the "please manually power up this phone" message and followed the procedure from the link you gave
I can`t wipe the as I cannot get to the recovery menu.
Is there any other way to wipe the cache?
JeffH
Nah, no other way than stock recovery for stock rom.
Just make sure your flash finished with Finish/pass, that'll make your stock recovery working again.
Wish you a best luck.
i flashed with this:
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_GR_SIGN_UCADEFYEMARAB1B80AA004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTCEE_P022_A022_Service1FF.sbf
but still no boot
Is this the correct rom?
cheers
JeffH
I wonder if the following might give someone a clue about whats wrong with my defy
If I flash gingerbread rom either defy or defy+ then rsd completes with PASS, and phone will boot as far as the M logo and I can access the menu with power+volume UP
If I flash below gingerbread then rsd doesnt complete but gives `manually reboot` message. If I then power off and plug in again then rsd completes with PASS but when I reboot there is NO M logo and no menu on power and volume up.
I`m keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to revive my phone.
JeffH
With DFP-231 rom, how about power+volume down to boot into stock recovery? I think you're just one step away from reviving defy.

No, Power + volume down doesn`t work, (ie nothing happens). Only power + volume up works.

Thanks, but it didn`t work. Still stuck at M logo. Obviously I couldn`t clear the cache before and between flashing
JeffH
Thank you all for your helpful advice.
I have now sent the phone away for repair.
I spoke to the technician on the phone and she reckons it needs dismantling and a jtag repair (whatever that is).
But beware an app on the market, I think it is called orange backup, as it was after installing this and trying to restore the backup that I screwed up my phone!

Hi all,
after having tried to retore factory rom 4.2.2, during the flash recovery with the toolkit pro, somethign gone wrong... now i can't access the nexus anyway! The toolkit don't see it in adb mode, i don't know what to do!!
please help me...
Push the three buttons on the side of your nexus simultaniously until the bootloader shows up. If that works, then your device is not hard bricked and can be safed with fastboot. Just restore factory images manually next time. There is a perfect guide for doing so stickyd in this forum.
Good luck.

Fastboot starts, but if i try to load recovery,it fails. i can't do anything, i can choose start (it reboots uselessly...), recovery (doesn't start recovery mode), restart bootloader and poweroff...
NOW: i started jromflasher.jar for nexus 7, it seems communicate with the device, now it says "formatting userdata.... it may take a few minutes" but it's in this state for 10 minutes now...
It's all ok... after a certain number of proofs i started sucessfully in the fastboot mode and then the toolkit has communicated again with the device, and restored stock rom... thank you all.

Consider this a lesson - DO NOT RELY ON TOOLKITS... learn how to use FASTBOOT and ADB... and become the Master of your Machine.
You dodged a bullet this time... next time - maybe HARD BRICK!
Read the 'updater-script' in the ROM you're flashing, prior to flashing... familiarise yourself with the PARTITION LAYOUT of your device.
And get into the habit of making NANDROID backups... takes less then 5 minutes, and could be a LIFE SAVER.

thank you I don't know why I just want do a simple reset and come out this **** problem
Hi, I am stuck in the logo, I have used the wipe data/factory rest in fastboot but its still stuck. Any help would be appreciated thank you.
I think you're confusing fastboot with recovery. If you did a factory reset then you need to install a ROM because a factory reset wipes your device.

This is incorrect, a factory reset simply erases the user data part, system stays same.
It basically restores to 'factory' release state.
For the OP, did you leave it on for a little while? sometimes it can take a little bit of time to start after a factory reset.
If still nothing, try https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload
use the 16gb 2.1 shield tv software, its really simple.
Thanks guys, every command I use comes up failed with various errors.
Hey guys, my phone d802 just wont boot, it powers off mid boot, its not even a bootloop, I've tried everything and it just doesn't work, the only thing I want at this point is to recover my files cause I already got a new phone, here's what I've tried and failed:
1) Getting into recovery: I have TWRP installed I just can't get into recovery, I tried all the possible button combinations to get into recovery and no one works. The VolumeDown+Power (wait for LG logo) - release - press both Volume Up and Down -> gets me into the factory reset setting, but from here if I wanna proceed I have to delete all user data, which is exactly what Im trying to recover, so this wont work for me as I dont wanna save the phone just the files, some people say you can press power button 3 times from this screen to get to recovery but doesn't work for me.
2) Download Mode: I can get into download mode but then it says "Firmware Update" "Do not unplug the USB connection until blabla..." but it stays at 0% all the time. My pc recognizes the device but doesn't allow me to access files and ADB doesn't work from here, the LG Tool can upgrade the phone to OG firmware but the phone doesn't have enough storage for the update, so the tool prompts me to delete files, which I don't have access to, so im screwed.
HELP! I just need a way to get into TWRP so I can transfer my files to the PC after which I dont care if the phone explodes, someone help me!

That's not correct. Don't worry. After pushing the factory reset you can confirm it and the phone will boot into TWRP.

I know it will boot into TWRP after confirming it, but it will wipe all my data! and I dont wanna save the phone I wanna save the data! I need a way to get into TWRP WITHOUT ERASING USER DATA!
It just boots TWRP and nothing more. The reset will be skipped. I know the phone says it's going reset itself but it won't. Normally the factory-reset button combination opens the pre-installed recovery which performs the reset. But it's gone since you flashed TWRP. The factory reset can now be done with TWRP.
