[Q] Need Big Help(Overheating,Screen issue) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys
I'm planing to buy SGS4 octa...Before that i read gsmarena user opinion. So that i founded issue about Overheating. Is that true?
Then i came here to find more about that issue. Then i found issue about screen get purple when scrolling.so that i want to know is it a problem with OS ? or hardware?
I know the people in here are professional. I want you professional answer(about overheating problem and screen problem)?
Are they can fix?

its not really overheating but yes the device get hot really fast... seems like firmware issue, on wfie I9500 she received the latest upgrade. overheating seems to be fixed... i am still on old firmware and my I9505 gets really hot but its fine.
i have never noticed the purple when scrolling. neither my wife.

Ghost touch problem becoming apparent and annoying

Hey guys
I appreciate everyone's posts on this forum; I've learned a whole lot just by browsing the Development section.
To the topic at hand: ever since I rooted my Evo, I've getting ghost touches, where my phone uncontrollably "presses" certain parts of the screen and doesn't stop until I turn the screen off.
Do you guys know what is causing this? I would tell you the build of my phone, but I find that kind of useless when it's always happened. It's getting kind of unbearable now, does anyone know the solution?
Currently running stable CM6 with Snap v8.4 900mV base. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance
I have this problem as well doesn't seem to be related to any rom as over experienced it on several. Its damned annoying though.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yeah, super annoying. I'm thinking of returning my Evo and getting a new one if the problem keeps going on. But, I flashed CM6 latest release with v7.5 of the Snap kernel and its running optimally. Awesome frame rate, no ghost touches yet, I would recommend you do the same thing
My screen is a little unpredictable but only when the phone is charging..
Yeah I had that problem and it was worse when I plugged it in..Got a new EVO and haven't even remotely had the issue since.

The only problem i noticed from the ones that you mentioned are overheating while i am playing certain games such as order and chaos online. I simply lower down the brightness from 100% to 50% and problem solved. However i read somewhere that overheating is fixed in the next firmware which is 2.3.4!
I never saw any pink spots or yellow tints in my phone. And if u have any second thoughts about the screen, don t have! It s one of the best screens out there. Period! Like the first poster said, you can t go wrong with this device, it is the best smartphone out there I bought mine when they first were available and i can t find a simple fault in it Just go for it!

thnx a lot bro for ur reliving reply i was really paniking after reading all the faults of this phone .. Also i will check the phone b4 buying
The things on your list are very minor issues. Most of the minor issues you have to be looking for them with a magnifying glass.
1. Yellow Tint: You have to be in dark room/With a solid GREY screeen/Brightness Turned all the way down to really notice the yellow tint. Its not something you see in everyday/normal use.
2. Overheating: This is all dependent on what your doing. It usually overheats with games being played for long periods. Personally my phone never gets past warm. You normally feel this heat from the camera area or top part of screen. Thats where CPU is located.
3. This is something you see on rare occasions. Most users in the banding threads see this on only certain wallpapers, xda load screen(3sec process), angry birds load screen(3second process). Another minor issue you rarely see but it is present.
4. After 500+ pictures/videos from my Jamaca vacation I never notice a pink spot. Ive had phone since UK launch but never seen pink spot. Some users reported after updating camera firmware pinkspot was gone. Very minor issue.
Do a little research in the general section, there should be plenty of post explaining each issue with pictures.

Ignore "JJE" hes just a random oblivious troll, yes the pink spot in the camera and the yellow tint is very possibly on all phones, many websites are struggling to find 1 which doesnt have this problem, the yellow tint is hardly noticeable and only in some shades of gray.
The pink spot unfortunatelly is easy to notice but perhaps with better light conditions you can overcome it.
The overheating problem has nothing to do with playing games to much time, its possibly a OS bug which can be fixed, everytime my phone overheated all i had to do was to getting out of all apps, clear memory ram and start that app again, the overheating happened in 20 minutes, after exiting apps and clearing ram it didnt happen untill battery drained...
Believe me you won't regret buying this beast. I had exact same doubts b4 buying and after using it for almost one week, I am glad that I decided to buy it. Btw, ordered from clove to Japan.

the yellow tint issue cant be noticed easelly you need specific shades of gray with very low brightness to even notice it slightly, overall if you want the best performance and best contrast you wont find anything that comes close to this phone, after i have traded 2 of my phones my third one still is and will remain to be galaxy s2 for a good while because the competition in comparison to this phone is simply outdated.
So if you want a top of the line performance phone this is the best, if you want mostly for gamings then either this or xperia play, but even tough xperia play is very good for gaming its a single core 1.0ghz cpu with a not that good gpu, so u win at something and loose at something else.
No phone right now offers the best in all areas each has its up and down.

Touch screen sensitivity issue still in 38R

I wonder if anyone is also experiencing sensitivity issues with the new 38R OTA.
In my case It is evident when scrolling (homescreen, twitter, whatsapp....) and typing. Also the capacitive buttons seem a bit unresponsive from time to time.
What about you guys?
Edit: here you have the prove (bad scrolling and multitouch problem) i think i am going to RMA
Multitouch and sensitivity issues in 38R: http://youtu.be/KSAl1Uh_Src
Edit:
Suddenly the issue has been gone for a week, no problems at all since 15 October... I am so confused
Edit 2:
The sensibility issue is back on 24/10/2014 without changing anything

Do you think it could be hardware problem? I am not sure, because sometimes it works perfect, but it is the 10% of the whole time

I am really not sure... the last couple days I was on 33R CM11S with AK kernel and did not notice the problem at all. But it is not something that happens often in my case. So it is possible that I just did not wait long enough for it to appear.
I will stay on stock cm11s 38R for a few more days and then probably switch back to AK kernel to see if my previous experience is reproducible.
Did you even try to use a different kernel? Did you still have the issue?

Sorry to hear it did not help.
I have also just noticed this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55195972&postcount=62 which suggests macgyvering an improved grounding for the phone. I have to admit that I don't understand exactly what to do. But it might become clearer if I get frustrated enough to actually open up the phone
Please let me know if you try it and it works.
Touch screen is still going to be an issue. You can check the original bug which was reported here (still says in progress) https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-55

You should just know that OPO's customer service while polite, will give you the run around a while. Took me about a month before they finally granted the RMA.

Will they RMA for a refund or just a new phone? I'm not convinced this will ever be fixed in software, and I'd rather go back to a mainstream manufacturer at this point.

They will, at least, replace your phone. I did and am waiting for my new one to arrive. If multitouch issues remain (and most likely will) i'll ask for a refund. I don't really care if the phone is "cheap for specs", this flaw is unacceptable.
My S3 is much worse hardware wise and feels SO much better while typing or anything else touch related. I did have to open a ticket and later show up a few videos of multitouch malfunctioning to oneplus. They decided it was a malfunctioning unit and i was eligible for a replacement. They never mentioned bacon 55 or a "known issue" common to every phone that would be solved at some point later on.
It's taking forever too. It's been over a month and it's mainly their fault because they take so long to reply to every single email. They did ask my VAT number before hand so they could send an invoice with it to my customs that would facilitate the returning process. Despite that, my phone got stuck on my country's customs precisely because they sent them an invoice without it and was up to me to ask it to oneplus. I waited about a week for what seems an poorly excel made document (compared to my country's invoices this is a joke of a document ). I sent it to the courier who picked up and they forwarded it to customs. Stuff went smooth from that point on. Oh yea, i'm from Portugal and even though my phone was sent to me from the UK the first time, to return a phone, you're going to send it to Hong Kong. All free of charge. I did have to print loads of pre made documents (about 10 pages?), because apparently sending anything with a battery is a big deal safety wise.
Even though they are, like someone said, polite, they do take a good while to reply to anything and aren't very keen to answer to anything that falls a bit out of their "process". For example, I've asked them several times if they would send me a new phone before or after a return mine. They never really cared enough to answer. Their English also seems translated by google sometimes. Several different people may take care of the same case. I've had about 5 or 6 different names reply to me and they all just use their first name like "Wilona". It made me stop to think i was sending my already paid phone to some place across the world because this randomly named guy told me so by email - in any other different scenario this would scream of a scam. But I've placed my RMA through an official ticket on their website, they actually made a new order request from their store on their website, they use very well known couriers with tracking numbers and it's the only way i'm ever getting a chance of having a properly working phone.
I did warn them before sending my "faulty" unit back they can expect me asking for a full refund if this new one isn't working any better.
I have been on liquidsmooth rom since I got the phone, no problems with touchscreen whatsoever, Installed new 38 CMS today and started to experience that problem. Also, cms lags compare to AOSP, this is pretty weird

Flashing ColorOS for me gave a much better touchscreen experience, things worked flawlessly in all apps for me(Amazon is my biggest issue, any scrolling over a description/review would select it and move you to that section to read it, does not happen at all in ColorOS), so im thinking its software
This issue is so exaggerated...

What is the touchscreen issue that people are referring to? Mine seems perfect? The only issue is the slight yellow at the bottom but you only notice it if you actually go looking for it.

Mines slightly yellow at the bottom, appears to be getting a bit better though, unless thats just my eyes playing tricks on me. I haven't noticed touchscreen issues except i can't seem to press the spacebar properly
My touchscreen seems to be very picky as to where I touch. Sometimes it takes a few attempts. Since 38 I have had random reboots. I m stock rooted without anything else flashed.

If you can say that you're a lucky one. It can render your phone completely unusable. Imagine your phone randomly assuming touches when you're not even touching it, non stop (stuff opening, key input, etc). You can't do anything else while it happens and the only way to stop is by rebooting. 5 to 10 times a day, everyday. Also, just about anything multitouch like simply zooming on a webpage has a 50% chance of working or send your phone spazing on a zooming in/out frenzy. So I'd say it isn't exaggerating, you just aren't experiencing the worse of it.

Weird, really weird problem with Note 4

i have note 4 ( exynos variant ).im facing this Weird problem in gaming :
i tried every possible way like : Flash Kitkat or Lollipop rom with Full wipe , but problem still exist.

Going on all the information you've provided it looks like it could be an incompatibility issue with that game. Wait for it to update, file a bug report to the dev?
If you get things like that on all games then it seems you may have a hardware issue.

i'm facing this issue with all kind of games. i guess my GPU or nand is malfunctioning
Sorry to hear about that man. My note 4 n910G works perfectly, as a new one should. Snapdragon i guess is a lil better at gaming than the Exynos one. I too think its a hardware problem ur having, since u say it happens on most games u play. Good luck with it ...

Weird camera effects

Anyone else have had their camera vibrate like crazy with audible sounds and the display for the camera shot showing sorta like a motion blur effect or like water waves?
Any fix for this if its a software issue? or hardware issue and i should get it sent back?
It seemed to be fine a few months back when i just got it and it was on B02, seems to have begun since B05 or B08 if i recall correctly, currently on Nougat 7.0 (2017G Version)
I think it's the OIS going crazy. I have the same issue, I think this is hardware caused. It doesn't bother me much because restarting the camera usually helps for me
Restarting camera is a temp fix, I would like a software patch from ZTE though
Here are my experiences with it:

There are like ten threads about this, and the only solution is an RMA. Or change the module by itself
I'm running in to the same problem with my device recently. It seems like the problem is occurring increasingly more often..

Was / is the same for me! But then again if OIS was completely broken, wouldn't it occure every time? But as I stated before this seems to mostly happen to me, when my phone is used in very hot conditions (hot day and out in direct sunlight for some time). I've tried using it in "cooler" circumstances and did not have this issue there so far.... So I don't know if I'm going to send my phone in right now... honestly I'd rather not. :/
Consider it to be faulty and return it. There isn't any amount of software that can fix it. I talked with ZTE and they said it was hardware related. RMA is the only way. My OIS slowly started to die. It would only happen 1/10 times and by the time I sent it in, it was happening 9.9/10 times.
