Six axis controller app - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought the six axis controller app but I Dominic how to work it with any games but gta. It worked by itself with gta but I don't know how to set it up with other games like nfs mw and sg dead zone. With need for speed the start button works but not the steering. If someone can explain what to do to get it to work with all games that would be great. Thanks
I posted this here because I am using it on a nexus 10 so just in case it matters what device im using

If you have it connected correctly (changed bt address on the controller yet?), all you'll need then is to add profiles for the games. There's a thread in the Themes/Apps section for the N10, but you can make your own if you want to.

Yes I have it added correctly. It works by itself with GTA. Can you link me the thread if you have time in case I don't find it but I'm going to search for it now thanks.

To make your own:
Open Sixaxis
Press the three dots (Menu) up right and choose "Preferences"
Press "Touch Emulation"
Press "Edit Touch Profiles"
Double-tap for menu
Press "Change Background"
Find a screenshot of the game you want to play, but know the controls for the game first
Double-tap for menu again
Press "Add Button"
Choose what button from the dualshock you want
Drag it to wherever you want (preferably over the buttons for the game, because, you know, you want them to correlate.
Some keys may need some different properties. You'll have to just save the profile when you're done and try it out for yourself. Make adjustments as you go. Let's take Blitz Brigade as an example. The camera-movement there does not work with the standard ANALOG_RIGHT button, so after you've put it where you want, double-tap it and hit "Button Properties", choose "Relative Touch", press anywhere outside the dialog box and double tap anywhere, save profile. Done!
Now just hit back until you get to the main screen, choose "YOUR GAMENAME HERE" from the dropdown menu and voila!
PS: You can adjust sensitivity with button properties when editing/making profiles. Also, the profiles for Nexus 7 generally work. I have used some from my Galaxy S3 before as well.

[DISCUSS] Xperia Play - Gamepad Tip

Just upgraded from Nexus One to Xperia Play. Liking the gamepad so far, disliking the terrible Sony Ericsson UI and bloatware! Looking forward to root when available, then hopefully a decent custom ROM. This has the potential to be the ultimate gamers device, with the right support...
I have a little tip for those of you running FPse. In order to best imitate the PSX controller, I have mapped the L2/R2 keys to the volume up/down keys. It works pretty well, and whilst not totally comfortable for games that require a lot of use of the L2/R2 keys, it beats any alternative I have tried.
You won't be able to adjust the Media Volume in game, however if you press the Menu key, you can use the volume keys as normal.
Hope this helps!

yh thats a good tip, but i just like to use the onscreen L2/R2. i turn off all other virtual controls so they are not present on the screen and i move the L2/R2 ones to the bottom of the screen so you can access them easily and quickly.
What version of FPSE are you using.
I cant seem to map the X and O button on mine.
Very irritating.
well i've been using 10.17. i've never had trouble mapping X or O in any emulator. what exactly is happening to you? maybe try posting a video or something? it's hard to provide a solution without seeing it in action im afraid.
Why not just use psx4droid its not on the market, but you can still get it on the devs site!

I am convinced different xperia play models exist.
It is impossible to hit my power button when using the pad. I can try my hardest to knock the power button even when using L1 and fail every time.
Power buton is hidden away nicely on my play.
Strange.
For people having trouble mapping certain keys try selecting them on screen in the menu with your finger then press X to map it.

Got a Xperia Play today and the first thing I did was installing snes9x EX. I had exactly the same problem, mapping the circle key seemed to work ok as the other buttons, but when I tried to play any game all worked fine 'til I used the circle-key (then it acted like I was pressing the "back" button on the phone).
This was VERY annoying but I found a solution. Atleast in Snes9x EX. In the options --> key config I just set the "Exit"-key (which default was mapped as "back") to "None". So now the circle-button is working as it should when playing snes-games. Actually it still is mapped as "back" (and pressing the "back"-button does the same as the circle-key - this is by the way how the two buttons seem to act by default on the phone) but it works
Sorry for my bad english, and hope this helps. I'll try install the psx emu tomorrow.

[Q] Is there an app/widget to toggle fullscreen setting...

... in CM7 tablet tweaks?
Basically the "disable fullscreen" setting is great as it allows the status bar to stick around all the time. The only problem I've encountered is that some games don't display properly when I leave this setting on and need to uncheck it before launching the game. So I guess I'm asking if there's a way to either a) quickly toggle it from a widget/shortcut? Or if b) there's a smart app that can set it pre-game launch (similar to how CF3D Pro handles per app plugin settings.)
I'm okay with "no there's no such thing," just curious if anyone else has run into this before.
Thanks!
P.S. This is CM7 n126 on sdcard (vg method) w/ stock ADW.

The double chevron that should show up with your soft buttons when an app wants fullscreen will do exactly that. In Tablet Tweaks, right under the "Disable Fullscreen", tap "Choose unhide button" and you can pick which key will pop the status bar back up; I use "n" (home, not the default), or you can press-and-hold the power button, then pick the default (whatever that is, I've forgotten, it's not convenient for the NC).

I know about the chevron, and that does work most of the time. But I'm specifically to games that misbehave if you hit the chevron to hide the statusbar after the game's launched. What's happening to me is that the screen to zoom out to take up the extra space given up by the hidden status bar, but on screen touches will still behave as if the screen was it's previous size. So buttons, etc end up pressing in the wrong place. Does that make sense?
Off the top of my head, one game in particular that does this is FieldRunners HD. If you launch the game then hide the status bar with the chevron, the on screen presses will now be mis-aligned. But, if you toggle the check box "Disable Fullscreen" before launching, then the game will properly go full screen and work correctly.

The, Does anyone know how to [insert subject here ] Thread.
Hi folks, since Win 8 is starting to get a bit more popular with the locals and there are already dozens of posts on similar things I figured id start a new one that we can use for general help related questions so we don't bog down the board too much, perhaps it wont work or is a waste of time, Ill try keep on top of all the questions and answers and will stick a link to the person who answers the question first so they can get the credit
This isn't a place to get in to the right or wrongs of Windows 8, there are already a couple of other threads for that.
Nope, this is a place to ask; How do to do something, Where to find something, can we do this that or the other, that kind of thing
Remember if someone helps you out don't forget the thanks button! It costs you nothing an gives them a wee pat on the back for their trouble, To find the original author please visit the links if they are available , they may have more detailed info and screen shots to help you.
If this gets bigger ill try and divide it in to sections or group similar questions together.
Q1, How to change the volume on the music app?
A, You cant currently change the volume independent from the system volume
Here and Here
Q2, Where can I find my start Menu? and Do I need to pin shortcuts everywhere?
A, All your legacy start menu entries can be found by right clicking in a non-tiled area and pressing All Apps, you don't need to pin any of the internally used Start Menu folders to your taskbar or such.
Here
Q3, How do I shut down my Computer?
A, Shutdown is found by pressing either WIN+I or by holding your mouse in the upper or lower right hand corner of the screen, then pressing settings on the Charm Bar. Click power and choose what you want.
Here
Q4, Where can I find the old run / search command box?
A,You can open the run window by pressing WIN+R or by holding your mouse in the lower-left corner of the screen and right clicking, then click Run. Search can be found on the Charm bar on the right side, by simply typing in the relevant screen or by pressing WIN+F for files or WIN+Q for apps, WIN+W for settings
Here
Q5, Where can I find the control panel settings and other power user commands?
5.You can also open Control Panel by right clicking the Start Hot-Corner overlay and clicking Control Panel. (This is the Desktop version of Control Panel, not the PC Settings app accessible in the Settings Menu on the Charms bar.)
Here
Q6, Were are all the settings for my apps, I cant find any way of changing things in my apps?
A, Many of the settings within metro and for metro apps can be found by opening the Charm Bar on the right hand side by moving your mouse to the top or bottom right corner of the screen. Some settings and options can also be found in the options bar at the bottom by right clicking on any blank space within Metro or a Metro app.
Here
So in the interest of kick starting this off heres my Question
Does anyone know if theres a way to change the volume within the music app?, I cant see it in audio mixer either so have I missed something?
Scroll to the right of your screen and open the settings wheel, from there is a system volume slider.
The following isn't a question but a possible answer for a future question:
To run a program as administrator you must search for the program via metro and then right click it and the option will be there.

ah but that changes the overall system volume, so yes it does work, but it effects everything, its also a backwards way of doing it, (action>click>click>adjust) Seems a tad long winded for a simple up down volume command,
thanks for your reply and tip

I think what dazza wants to have is a volume seperatly for the music app and at the moment this is not built in. You have to use the system volume (like Nasdaq said or just in case you have volume +/- on your keyboard with these).
I'm not quiet sure if in any metro app out there today you can change the volume (except some that are playing i.e. youtube videos, cause the youtube player can do that).

If it's on your desktop or if your feeling complicated, you can always right click the program's executable and press Run As Administrator. Or if your scrolling through the Start Menu entries using the tip below, you can right click and the option will be there too
For future references: (I'll be updating this post with more.)
All your legacy start menu entries can be found by right clicking in a non-tiled area and pressing All Apps.
As per previous versions of Windows, all your start menu groups and shortcuts can be found on the previously mentioned All Apps page. (Your start menu is still there, you don't need to pin any of the internally used Start Menu folders to your taskbar or such.)
Shutdown is found by pressing either WIN+I or by holding your mouse in the upper-right hand corner of the screen, then pressing settings on the Charm Bar. Click power and choose what you want.
You can open the run window by pressing WIN+R or by holding your mouse in the lower-left corner of the screen and right clicking, then click Run.
You can also open Control Panel by right clicking the Start Hot-Corner overlay and clicking Control Panel. (This is the Desktop version of Control Panel, not the PC Settings app accessible in the Settings Menu on the Charms bar.)
EDIT: If you want, I can make a screenshot that shows what I mean for others.
BTW, This thread should be stickied once we get enough information. I think it's a good idea. Also I think Metro Apps are exempt from the mixer. So I'm not sure that there is a way to change the volume in any of them unless the App gives it's own soft-volume control.

Also in all Metro apps:
Right click in dead space (empty) and a menu will post at the bottom of the app with options/buttons. Right click again to dismiss if not needed.
Moving mouse to upper right in all metro apps just as on START will bring up the settings and preferences for each. This will contain some common preference options too.
Moving the mouse to the left side will bring up the task bar to close apps and for switching.
All WIN-(key) shortcuts still work as before, as some listed above.
Same with command line as well. (admins and power users =])

When the media app plays music (and consumes around of 300MB RAM btw.) and you are in the desktop view you can press the volume keys on your keyboard to bring up a mini player that shows the current track and allows to play/skip/rewind/etc.. Satechi Media Remote

So I got my Nexus 7, and think its awesome! I got mine so I can install it in the dashboard of my car to use as media player/navigation, all that good stuff.
I thought it would be great to use a bluetooth media remote attached to the steering wheel to control basic functions. I purchased the Satechi Media Remote, and for the most part it works perfect! There is only one main issue and one minor issue.
Main Issue:
The remote has a button on the bottom middle that has a square on it. It works just like pushing the Home button.
While it is in my dashboard, it will be rare that I need to go to the actual home screen, and instead i would like it to take me to the car dock app I use. I have been trying many things to get it to work and I can not get it to function as anything else!
I tried using the app "External Keyboard Helper" and it worked for remapping the other 2 lower buttons on the remote (which is part of question 2), but I can not get it to remap the middle button. When I use the degugger in External keyboard helper, if I push that button it doesnt log the keypress and goes to the home screen like it is supposed to. I tried manually setting the keycode (102) to run an app and it still just goes to the home screen.
The next thing I tried was to edit the actual keylayout files like what is outlined here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695936
Doing it this way I can not seem to get it to change any of the three buttons to anything else. At first I couldnt figure out which .kl file to edit, so I searched and replaced all instances of HOME and MOVE_HOME in all the files, and moved them back to the device, still no change.
Do I need to make a cutom .kl with the vendor name and id in the title?
Where do I get that information from?
I tried editing the file Vendor_05ac_Product_0239.kl since in its comments it says its for a "Apple Wireless Keyboard", which this device is supposed to emulate to work with ipods/ipads, still nothing.
I am at my witts end trying to find the right way to remap this one button on this little remote hahaha
The second issue which is very minor, which might not be solved in here. I want to map one of those other lower buttons to google voice search. When I run the setup for "External Keyboard Helper" it has a section for mapping the running of an app to a key, which worked for car dock and a car music player. The problem is, when I go to the Application shortcuts portion of the app, the only thing I see listed in there is "com.google.android.voicesearch". If I set that as the app to run when I press a key I see this..
"com.google.android.voicesearch is not installed"
Is there a way to launch google voice search without having to click on the microphone in the search bar?
I got the thing working! I had to make a new KL file for the "keyboard"
I found this thread that told me how to get the vendor and product id, that seemed to be what was missing.
http://www.thriveforums.org/forum/toshiba-thrive-development/9626-how-create-customized-keylayout-any-usb-bluetooth-keyboard-rooted.html
The file name needs to match those.. its information is
Vendor ID 05ac
Product ID 023c
so the kl file is named
Vendor_05ac_Product_023c.kl
The scan codes for the three lower buttons are
161 (bottom left with the keyboard logo)
172 (middle bottom with the square)
113 (bottom right with the mute logo)
I changed the one for the bottom middle to SEARCH, and from that point on I could remap the key with the app External Keyboard Helper.
Next thing I need to do is figure out how to run a app from a keypress without using that remapper.. and how to start google search from a keypress

Know this is an old post, but this helped me immensely. Got a Satechi remote and this quick tutorial helped me a ton. Seemed a little pain in the ass-ish at first, but realistically only took 5 minutes to get situated. Now to figure out how to bind a key to a specific app.
You probably don't even have this device anymore, if you change the keycode for whatever button you want to have open Google search to look like
key XXX VOICE_ASSIST
It'll open up Google voice search for you.

Button Settings are not available in General Settings

Maybe there is no this func, but I saw on the demo in youtube that there should be a possibility to customize hardware buttons behavior. Also should be possible to enable swipe on Home button.
If you type in search box in General Settings keyword "camera" it will show you that there should be some settings in Buttons, to set behavior. But if you press on context link - it shows button menu but very limited.
Do you have one?
Thanks

If I'm not wrong swipe on Home is available on ZUI home, not Cyanogen OS.
On Buttons menu you can set home long press action, home doube tap action (doesn't work on latest update).
I personally use "All In One Gestures" app to configure buttons

Thanks a lot. I will try!
The reason is I would like to set a camera on double tap action and cannot find how to do it by default.

In Settings -> About Phone turn on Advanced mode. Then you can configure buttons. I have it set up just as you'd like it, double tap for camera, works perfectly for me with latest update.
