Notorla Defy, released 1969 12-31 ?? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anychance the description of the motorola DEfy can be changed on the front page for these sub forums?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=852
i know its been out for a while, but for a device released in 1969 its doing well, and for that period in time it was definatly ahead of the competition.

LOL, I never noticed it till now.

OTA July 19th?(tonight)

has anyone gotten, heard, or know anything about the supposed OTA that is coming? supposed overall performance improvements, as well as better camera app, also supposed to fix that possible charging bug.

That should help you out, if you haven't seen it already. I may or may not hold off on the OTA because it may help with the Droid X rooting efforts. Chances are I'll get it though :-/
This is my first android phone so I'm just wondering...what's the procedure for an OTA update? Will the Droid X automatically prompt us when it becomes available or is there a manual action required?

automatic, so yes something will prompt you and if you don't click for it yourself in 3 minutes is the time frame i believe, it will automatically just do it. it will restart your phone after it downloads and then install and start up again.
i haven't got the update yet but i have been manually checking all day! i want it bad lol.

Installed no noticeable difference. Now we will let the clock start ticking for froyo. Tick. Tock. And so it begins. May e this was secretly a maintenance update for froyo. Vzw tweeted today that froyo for the dinc would b late july or early august. U don't think the are going to give it to someone other than their flagship phone first do u?

If I could post the link, I would, but please go to droid life dot com and check the top story!
It seems that the 5/26 date is real! And here I was, about to break and root/GB flash myself.

Is that an Atrix with Cm7?

I don't post here much....mostly just read. But is that an Atrix?
... I can't post links so there is a space between http and the : ^.^
"Wow quarx did a great job. Cm7 is awesome on this thing http ://t.co/zq2dfKf" - kmobs, via twitter.
Edit: well it seems I was played a fool Its the Defy...Damn You Moto!!!! for making all your phones look the same....

I'm just really confused...
You're reading a twitter feed...that's remarking on the awesomeness of CM7...and where does the Atrix come in?
And the link takes me basically nowhere relevant (yes I copy+pasted it).
That's a Motorola Defy.

It's easy to understand the confusion. Defy and Atrix look extremely similar.
Someone pm quarx and tell him the Atrix is only $99. Haha
I thought the exact thing earlier today when I saw it on twitter!
I got on my PC to see if it was in fact the Atrix, saw it was in water, then realized it was the Defy.

Tenfar's unlocked cwm is perfectly fine for development.
What key features are missing that will not allow custom rom development?

The 2 are unrelated. tenfars CWM is great. What the other poster is saying is that the stats on the webpage probably don't count what gets installed by tenfars version since it's not the "official" one.

Ahhh ok. Thanks for clarifying. I wonder what other olympus is being modded?
Maybe the devs have added it somehow to the site? Who knows.

I have seen that since the day I got my Atrix, 15 days back and it has been 15 ever since , I check it daily to see if the number increases.
i checked that page about a month ago and the olympus number showed 12. now its at 15. i am pretty sure it is actually someone doing some testing with cyanogen on an atrix.

Current Known Contributers:
Matt Veety (@aliasxerog)
Brandon Viada (@brandon15811)
Samuel Rivera (@zombisam) < samcripp
Wes Garner (@wesgarner)
Where we are at the moment:
-RootzWiki is looking for other developers to give a free Atrix to for CM7
-Matt will receive his Atrix shortly
-Sam has started trying to create a vendor tree http://t.co/x6ADG0i
-The rest is unknown at the moment & we will need to start communicating what each of us is doing.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or how we can better collaborate.

Thanks alot man!
Im all updated, tiamat 4.1, v6 super charger script, vipermod, and unvisible tweaks.
Running great as of last night, Ill have to go look to see what my charge is at, I went to sleep and it was in the early 40's, my phone sits idle quite often and some days might just be txting. If I can last 3 days, with all my txting and about 3-8 hours of talk time each charge(or partial).
All I am waiting for now is CM9 and ill be the happiest boy in the world!

In case you don't know [which you seem to not] that changelog is basically for the new CM9 rom that will be released when its ready. There hasn't been a CM7 release in roughly two months because they started working on ICS.
