Onlive is Avaliable On Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onlive.client
Note: Despite it being optimized for the Xperia Play, curiously appears as unsupported. However, you can easily find the application in parallel markets.

If it doesn't show up as listed, try changing all instances of "R800i" to "R800a" in your build.prop.
When I first flashed NXT, it changed my system to be read as a R800i, and a good chunk of things I install simply did not show up. On R800a, about the only confirmed-optimized game that won't show up right is Sonic 4 (only Episode 1, Episode 2 shows up).

Thank you for this tip! =)

I think Onlive is so underrated in these forums as its really the best thing that ever happened to Xperia Play. It's exactly the root that Nvidia are taking with their Project Shield and Nvidia Grid service but is more portable and has been around for over a year.
I have been an avid fan from day 1 and it's what I play on my Xperia 80% of the time (90% the way through Assissins Creed 2 at the mo). Love the fact I can play when I am out on my phone and then pick it straight up on my PC when home (not to mention I don't have GB's worth of game data stored locally). The only bad side is the lack of L3,R3 and the amount of games released but still enough to be getting on with.
People always whinge about lag with new Android games but if you have good net and use this, you can play new top end PC standard games without the single core of the Xperia Play ticking over barely.
At the end of the day when all development has stopped for Xperia Play, Onlive will be turning out more and more titles (as long as the service is running) that are all (mostly) optimized for are gamepad and will keep this awesome smart phone future proof.

This app works great, some games REQUIRE some sort of controller, but they all run great. Internet is required and it won't work over 3g. All the games are paid but most offer a 30 minute trial. It's free to sign up though. I tried dirt3 and wings of prey, both ran flawless and looked just like pc version. Good app overall.

With the pending release of ION, does that mean no more controller buttons? :-(

I love my Xperia Play because of the actual buttons. Touch screen controls are good, but nothing beats tactile feedback. For simple games, touch screen controls work just fine, but the Xperia Play wasn't a simply gaming phone device, it was able to play all my N64 games, and PSX.
With the release of the Ion Play, does that mean the end of our beloved buttons?
The Ion is the new American flagship for Sony Ericsson. It's not going to replace the Play, it's out because Sony didn't have any carrier-backed flagship in the US (the Arc wasn't available with carrier subsidies). It's not going to phase out the Play or anything.

It is not "Ion Play" its just simply "Ion" its not a 2nd Xperia Play or as such. All Sony devices will be Playstation Certified.
My understanding is that they support the use of Playstation 3 SIXAXIS/DualShock 3 controllers.
I find it very stupid that every new regular Sony phones are getting the "PS Certified" tag without the actual gamepad. Its a promotion skill but at least make some effort like in the original XPlay. For example I love the new Sony Xperia S but how is it a PS certified ?

They want to create a gaming ecosystem for mobile gaming, which is not a bad idea. However, no one else is biting the hook, and it would be nice to have more choices for gaming than Sony's phones. Imagine some PS certified Galaxy S III or a Nexus Tablet made by Sony and PS certified. That'd certainly kickstart the ecosystem's popularity. It would damage Sony's hardware sales too, but since they're making a loss with them, it wouldn't be that big an issue.

Read my post above. It makes perfect sense.
the first part of the video explains what i mean here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OxkVclkM8Y
i just don't like the idea of tagging a device "PS Certified" which has tiny little virtual buttons on screen to play with

Its not all about playing on a tiny screen with tiny buttons all the time. Tablet S already has official sixaxis controller support for ps suite and we think sony mite roll this out over the hole ps certified device range like you see sony demoing with the ion here below, so there is a point to certified device's.
To see this concept in action check out this custom xperia arc we made with full ps suit early here http://www.xperiagamer.com/News/xperiagamers-plarc.html

What games do you think SHOULD be on the Play?

Just as the title says, what do you think would be a great game or games to have on this phone, but try to be realistic, for example, don't say Mass Effect 3 or anything of that sort, that's what OnLive is for. I'll go first.
I think Grandia 2 would be a great game to have on the Play, it was originally for the Dreamcast. It even looks like it could be an Android title in the first place IMO.

I love Grandia 2. I still play it on my dreamcast and I have all the grandia games. Ps1 Francis, Sega Saturn grandia. Grandia 2 for DC and PS2. Grandia xtreme grandia 3. I would not mind seeing Albert Odyssey from the Sega Saturn on the xperia play. Not the best graphics but great story.

Precisely Grandia, like other turn-based RPG or strategy game, is the kind of game that I wouldn't mind seeing in any Android phone, but which wouldn't fully use the virtues of the gamepad. In fact I think those kinds of games which don't require reflexes or speed of mashing buttons are better suited for the touchscreen, provided that you solve the issue of moving the characters. Games like Final Fantasy Tactics would be very nice to see properly ported to an Android phone.
A good fighter (that excludes that abortion called Fight Game Heroes which came about some time ago) is something we're sorely lacking, and which would use it. The Soul Calibur series would be legendary, a dream come true.
I would like to see a version of uncharted like the ps vita one

All I really feel like we're missing is a online fighter.
Fight Game Heroes could be that game if they'd just beef up the fighting/techs and patch it with online play (like they said they would)

Pac man ce DX
Gran Turismo
God of War
Killzone
LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Solid

GTA San Andreas. I saw someone playing it on an Android. I guess you need a java emulator.

We have it. I play it with fpse and it's fantastic. It doesn't need analogs anyway.

I would really like to see:
At least one of the Twisted Metal series
Grand Turismo 1 and 2
Driver
Motorstorm RC (since it would be the most likely to be ported over)
Metal Gear Solid
Crash Team Racing (even though most people already have it)
I decided to look back on this topic.
I would love to have Doom 3 on the Android. That would be sweet. The requirements aren't even high at all (may need an OC'd Play since 1.5GHz is the minimum). The demo was also released for Linux, yet it was most likely closed source so that wouldn't work. Just a cool thought.

[APP] FlipFeeds: Flipboard 'esq reader for all Android Devices. Complete it?

Hi all,
I have been working on an HTML5 based reader similar to Flipboard that would work in Android, iPad, Windows 8, etc. However, with news that Flipboard will be releasing to Android this year, I'm debating on if it's worth my time to finish. A few things of note:
It's powered by google reader
It actually has a better image grabbing engine that FB for image detection
Around 32 page layouts thus far
Scales areas and fonts dynamically to fit any resolution tablet/screen
Grabs the first few pages, then keeps going in the background for quick start

Here's a link to check out the super-pre-alpha: http://youtu.be/g3hNYtNVGJM (so you can see it already grabs articles and sorts areas and images)
What do you think? Should I put the time in to finish it for everyone?
Thanks,
B.
I think if u can manage to create and page transition effect that makes flipping through them as exciting as it is on Flipboard then ur App will sell itself....i don't see that on your video.... it's laying out new nicely though.
try to focus on visuals and gestures.

Yea, it's complete alpha stages right now. I don't even have the code in for viewing an article. I won't be taking the exact FB effect, but was planning on making a swipe effect of some kind, but don't want to spend the million hours finishing this out if everyone says "Why bother, we'll use FlipBoard."
Thanks,
B.
Put in mind that Flipboard announced that the company will release the app only for chosen devices ....so if your app suits older less powered devices and have some cool features that are optimized for smooth browsing and doesn't consume battery ...then i think u should work on it and don't give up .
second of all you should know by now people lke to try out new apps every now and then ...we get bored fast my friend
good luck developing ..but if u loose interest then it's also ok .....maybe u will come up with something even better

Yea, now that the APK is out I'm seeing that Flipboard is working fine on older devices, I think I'll hold off. While I'm happy to continue building this, I don't see much point unless Flipboard doesn't come out tablet optimized. Happy to give people another option, but I only have a limited amount of time, and could never compete with the feature list that FB provides.
Thanks,
B.

I'm doing this comparaison because I'm about to swap my Xperia Play with Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra.
Any reasons to stick with Xperia Play ?
........It's not Alcatel
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
If ya dont need physical buttons and need more powah - indeed better to swap.
I will keep my play, even with lack of power for games, cuz touchscreen is awful controller for games, and i like that many functions(mediaplayer, game console, phone) united in one small enough device.
If ya not fan of hardware control - ya can swap.
I'd stay with the Play until it dies if I'm honest, it's still a really solid phone.

Unless you are not playing PSXperia, EPSXE or FPSE games (for that xPlay will be good enough forever), be free to upgrade your phone to any newest that you can buy...
Comparing hardware of 2013 and 2011 is just... Not comparable... Ofcorse new hardware will better then the old one, the question is, is old hardware good enough for your taste?
I am also planning on buying new phone in next few months (maybe Xperia L or SP), but xPlay will remain my PSX game platform (And it was her main purpose in the last one and the half year). Untill it die...
Keep your play 4 ever

"Any reasons to stick with Xperia Play ?"
You gotta be kidding me. Nothing, Absolutely nothing beats a controller when it comes to gaming. The mere sight of a smart phone that doesn't at least have a keyboard makes me throw up. I absolutely hate touch screen keyboards also, but that's something I realize I have to live with when it comes to modern day phones. My last phone was an N900 which had a keyboard, that was like 4 yrs ago. My current phone is now the xperia play and will be until i see another device with a controller or keyboard built in.
Just goes to show how much i hate touch screen only devices.
Thank you guys for replying and sharing me your opinions.
And to be honest, I lost my interest in gaming on mobiles since I bought an Xbox 360 ( 3 mounths ago ).
The only problem with this alcatel is it does not have a development forum here, so I think I will only miss custom ROMs, other than that I don't think I will regret my decision.

Sounds reasonable.
Im looking at the upgrading this way: what do I gain from 3 extra CPU cores ? Does it enable me many new possibilities ?
Does more GPU power/better graphics matter if I cant enjoy the game ?
IMO, Xplay has too small RAM and internal memory but I dont see any huge benefits in upgrading to new phone.
I bought a tablet that is decently powered but again, I dont see a huge added benefit of the power. Its mostly visible in web browsing.
