I found a killer deal on a evo 4g from google I\O. I paid $300 and they where sealing from $600 to $800 in my area. I have a nexus one and I have to say i am loving the evo 4g. Everything is better. I am sold that is is diffidently a class above any other smartphone I have used. I thought I might like the bigger screen and better touch sensor over the nexus one but the rest would be the same. Its not at all. The quality and design is awesome. I feel in love instantly with this phone. Service is great no 3g dropping issue like my N1. No problem with screen or buttons. I would diffidently recommend this phone! Here is some pics.
Good for you!!
I like the side by side compare with the Nexus. Thx.
I can't wait to get mine on June 4th!

Yes the whites are better on the evo but the color is crisper on the N1. Just by a little bit but the colors look different because i think the n1 colors are off a little. Look how the white looks pinkish gray. Many people have reported pinkish hue on the n1. The nexus's amoled screen also has reports of burn ins and dead pixels.
can u input 720p movies or video to the supersonic SD card and what format does it use to play movies or video?

I have transformer 2 in blue ray that I have converted to 720p and 800 x 480 in both mp4 and avi. They are ready for testing but it will take some time to put them on sd card. I will copy them over tonight and test out Friday.
thanx let us know on the quality please

Handbrake
800x480 = 800 auto aspect = max resolution for are phone
720p = 1280 auto aspect (For testing 720p through hdmi cable. Dont have cable yet)
1500 bitrate
double take
65%
Sweet I already started encoding some of my Blu-rays as well in anticipation for when I get mine.
I just hit the Iphone preset then changed the width to 800 and checked the keep aspect ratio. Avatar was still 3.2GB

Lol mine was 1.7 gb and I think I messed up on it. My zune hd is 320x240 and is 2.4 gb. I will redo it tonight.
Lucky you! I paid $550. It gets here today. Excited.
I tested video playback and it works great. I will test out 720p streaming to 42 inch 1080p tv tonight. It will take all day to get the 8gb 720p video on my evo.
Compared to the Nexus...
- How much better is sunlight readability?
- Do you find yourself needing to use two hands much more often due to the size?
- Is the external speaker louder or softer?
Thanks
ohhh man never mind on inputing 720p videos cuz its gonna take out whole lotta space from the SD card.

Congrats! Hey I'm in Austin too and would love to hear your thoughts on Sprint 3G/4G with the EVO. Please report back.
I've been able to play high bitrate videos (720p) on my Evo just fine. The only problem I've seen is that when the fps is at 30... it doesn't play. 24 and 25 fps works fine. Can anyone else verify or deny?

1 The evo is 30 to 40% better in sunlight.
2 When I pick it up yes (due to fear of dropping it) but feels great in one hand. I hold it the same way I do my n1.
3 I think the sound is way better then my n1.
4 The veiwing angle is better on the n1 but not a real issue.
how is the overall snappiness as compared to the n1? I know they have the same snapdragon, but does the evo seem any faster?
edit:
i see u have froyo on your n1.... does that make it blow the current evo with 2.1 out of the water? noob here... thanks for the insight!

With 2.1 vs 2.2 there is not a big difference in daily use. In linpack (benchmarking) yes 2.2 wins. If I open browser the evo come up first by .5 seconds. Not a big difference but it does feel faster overall.
Can nexus record videos at 60 fps 720p?
its camera seems to support it, can we enable it via software (kernel or apps)?
**BUMP**
Been wondering the same thing.
There are a few apps that do it but they seem to have very bad ratings. I would also love to see this happen. Pretty sure one of the chinese S4 pro phones could do 120 frames with WVGA resolution so hardware is definitely capable.
**BUMP**
Please, anyone with the device, can you check?
Off topic noob question - Can you really see a difference between 30 vs 60 fps?

I can't tell if you're trolling. I thought the human eye can't see above 29.6 fps or something like that.
I would guess the plan would be to slow the video down. My old LG Viewty recorded 60 fps for slow motion purposes etc.

hmm, that made me wonder...
Wikipedia:
The human eye and its brain interface, the human visual system, can process 10 to 12 separate images per second, perceiving them individually, but the threshold of perception is more complex, with different stimuli having different thresholds: the average shortest noticeable dark period, such as the flicker of a cathode ray tube monitor or fluorescent lamp, is 16 milliseconds, while single-millisecond visual stimulus may have a perceived duration between 100ms and 400ms due to persistence of vision in the visual cortex. This may cause images perceived in this duration to appear as one stimulus, such as a 10ms green flash of light immediately followed by a 10ms red flash of light perceived as a single yellow flash of light. Persistence of vision may also create an illusion of continuity, allowing a sequence of still images to give the impression of motion. Early silent films had a frame rate from 14 to 24 FPS which was enough for the sense of motion, but it was perceived as jerky motion. By using projectors with dual- and triple-blade shutters the rate was multiplied two or three times as seen by the audience. Thomas Edison said that 46 frames per second was the minimum: "anything less will strain the eye." In the mid- to late-1920s, the frame rate for silent films increased to between 20 and 26 FPS.
And don't forget most displays are locked on 40Hz-100Hz,..

I was wondering what sort of benchmarks we can get from our GPU on different ROMs. Are Samsung improving it or keeping it the same. Also, we can test the performance of different ROMs.
Guys, go and download Epic Citadel from the Play Store. It uses Unreal Engine 3.
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwyLDEsImNvbS5lcGljZ2FtZXMuRXBpY0NpdGFkZWwiXQ..
ROM: EMA2 (stock)
Average FPS: 41
Resolution: 1280x720, High Quality

ROM: Omega v40 (+ siyah 1.8.9)
FPS: Averagely 43.5
Res: 1280x720

Why Samsung went with an old gpu for this phone though is beyond me.

Well, overclocking hasn't really helped. Is our GPU too old to handle Unreal Engine 3 at 60fps?

probably yes.. the gpu processing power of mali 400 is not a balanced one. It aces any benchmark when it comes to pixel shading. When vertex/triangle processing enters the scenario it stutters due to its fixed processing units vertex shaders (2 units afaik)

Someone now the Hz rate of the display samsung galaxy s7 edge
Most likely 60hz. Otherwise I'm sure we would've heard of it by now. A minimum of 90 would be nice for VR, but otherwise it isn't justifiable on a phone in this day and age. At least not with the "vox populi".

But screen refresh rate isn't useful when input material hasn't even got enough frames And the menus wont be fluent too because almost all animations still stutter

Screen refresh rate effects the entire UI, gaming, etc.
open this site on your browser "www.displayhz.com".It will show the refesh rate.
It's 60hz! but I want a petition for 80hz! trust me even the UI feels much better c: Specially on phones since there's scrolling and etc. I have a 144hz monitor and I can't stand my 60hz one next to it! even when browsing the web c:
But *ehm* *ehm* samsung should first make 60hz work first.... Cause I feel like all animations are 30fps c:

Didn't take long though did it lol. February 2016 you wrote that now we have Razor Phone with 120hz display.
it's 59 hz
Can it switch to 90Hz for VR? Would be nice to trigger this for Standard UI.
Would you say that the Sony Xperia 5 II is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Sony Xperia 5 II exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Just fast. Once you go 120Hz there's no turning back. Butter smooth everywhere!
The phone is very quick and responsive. I agree that once you turn on the 120Hz refresh rate, you'll quickly get used to it. The phone has excellent battery life, so I just leave the 120Hz on. It easily makes it through the whole day, so why not?
I actually do not see a noticeable difference between 60 and 120 Hz, so I just leave it at 60 Hz.
Overall speed is lovely only the cam sucks (too slow).

Impossible, 120Hz is a lot more fluid than 60Hz

I too don't see much difference in scrolling but definitely it drains battery a lot so I also kept the toggle off.
