Settings Background in black - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just got an S4 and I had thought settings background would be white with black text. Turns out its like its same as in S3 I.e., black with white text.
Can someone help me how I can change it.
Thanks

Is there a romantic for the i9505 that has this configuration?

Its a amoled display so its black to save battery,
I read somewhere that it was white on first firmware because sammy did't know which kind of display they would use, either lcd or amoled

It can be done yes, you need to theme the background white and change the primary/sub xml files to white text.

Dont 'spose you have a flashable zip? I much prefer the Note 8.0 menus

Or use another launcher instead of TW to change the background to whatever you want it to be.

A launcher won't help. We're talking about menus and things like the dialer app here.

Guess I cannot ask you to teach me stuff (changing the background), but may be a suggestion to browse some forums, perhaps?

I think he mean this.
I know the first dump file (I9500XXUAMC6), has the light grey settings menu.

Yes. When did Samsung decide to chsnge it. In fact I have similar settings background on my S3 as well. Any way to get this back on S4?

That's no good as it changes the colours of the notification bar, icons, etc too.

Only some S4 markets get the white background. I believe T mobile USA for example. International units are black.

There is a thread in note 1 n7000 on how to change background for contact/messaging/setting/my files.
That's for jb4.1.2. Might not be the same with 4.2.2. It's your phone so you decide.

Banding on google screen is it normal ?

Love the fact that the s3 has no apparent banding on most screens however ive noticed on the google email creation page there is banding ... also where the same blue is used (mainly on email sign up pages) the same banding is there
Has anyone else got this ?
Every other page is crisp and no banding i just wonder more that worry why the google page has it ?
On my note a lot of pages have banding so im not that worried its a 1000% better

I was always under the impression that was actually the design of that background image.
Hello.
Try that...
It will fix your problem.
It will work to any rom you have.
Credits goes to Zabalba for his work.
It is a default ugly background that appears in some settings/apps. It is the wrong choice of background as it makes the amoled black look like lcd black if you don't know it is the background.

Are you sure this only happens on that specific page? For me, it happens on all pages with that background.

GSG 4 white settings menu

Hi guys! I was just wondering if you can help me with this.
In the ads and demo versions of the SGS 4 the settings menu and the in call menu are white. Mine are blueish. Is this normal? I'm on stock XUAME2 and i really like the white one more. Does anybody know how to fix this?
Thank you!
Same here. Also in some videos the menu is white and mine is black. Don't know how to change it (if it's even possible)

U.S. variants are white dialer/white menu.
Dark/blue dialer/menu are the defaults per Samsung. They were altered because we Americans can't leave **** alone. It's possible to change it by flashing one of the US carrier ROMs on an i9505. I'm not familiar with any other method.
Hmmm... they should let people choose this. Black and white themes maybe like an option in display settings. Hope they do because I can't live without it either
Hmm... maybe changing the csc to us will work too... I'm going to try tomorrow

I know the white setting panel looks cool on the white Galaxy S4 like i have, but remember that the color white on an AMOLED screen will kill the battery.
Just sayin.
Anyone with help or mod on this?

Did i say that i had the white framework and setting files?
I don't, because i use the black version of the Settings, because it's saving battery on AMOLED screens.

target the color.xml, styles.xml and also xml files in drawables and colors folder of secsettings & FRAMEWORK-RES and the background should be in drawable-nodpi of either secsettings or framework-res.apk. After that simply drag and overwrite the pngs
you have the opportunity to make a zip file. ? thanks

I liked it matching the assistive light. I guess I'm picky and like it looking symmetrical. Wish they were both 75% transparent tho. That would make it look awesome.

White on white issue? You mean like black on black when using a black theme? Hmm. That means your text it fully transparent. I don't remember there being an option to change text colour in pacman.
Anyway, you're gonna have to find a way to change the text colour. Maybe by using some app. Was this always the case? Like since you flashed the ROM, was it this way? Or did you mess around the settings and found this issue later on? If it wasn't there from the beginning then you could wipe data and reflash.
