Hi,
I have a problem in the stock email app. All the folders (except the inbox) shows a number between brakets that reflects the total number of emails inside the folder, regardless if it's read or unread. The inbox in the other hand, shows only the number of unread messages, and when everything is read it doesn't show any number. I want all folders to behave like the inbox. How do I do that?
Both emails I'm using (work & personal) are set as exchange.
The photo below gives an idea of what I mean. It only shows the problem in the sent folder, but it applys to all other folders if I expand them.

You can't using the stock app. Download a replacement app from the play store, K-9 is pretty good and open source

The problem with most of the alternatives in the play store that non of them will allow you to set up multiple exchange accounts, which I sometimes need!
Only the stock app allows me to do so, and in my S2 I have it set up with the same accounts and I don't face the problem. The only difference between my S2 & S4 is that te S2 has an older android version (4.0.3) with older samsung email app that is free from this problem!

I guess you'll have to live with that small problem then if the stock app is the best choice for you.

To be honest it doesn't bother me that much. The only time it's really annoying is when I have multiple emails recived in differnt folders (filtered), then there is no way to know in which folders these emails are, unless you knew exactly how many emails (count) were in each folder before reciving the new emails!
If there is a solution it we'll make my life easier, and if there's no solution I'll have to live with it
Anyway, thanks for trying to help

Problem solved. The latest offical rom update (4.3) brought changes to the native email app, and this was one of them. Good job Samsung!

In case you haven't heard, Contacts was updated:
http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/updates-to-contacts-and-slightly-new.html
Best feature I've been DYING to have for months: custom labels!!! My god, I always found it absolutely maddening to look at a contact in Gmail with four different numbers and not know which is which for lack of labeling tools. Finally, I can name phone numbers as "Google Voice" or "Skype" rather than have a whole mess of "mobile" "work" "mobile" "work" numbers and not know which one is which.
Funny bug, notice that if you select "Google Voice" as the drop down in Gmail, it actually comes out "grandcentral" in Android Someone forgot to update the name since that company is long since gone...
(And for some reason the fields selected from the default dropdowns in Gmail come out lowercase on Android like "mobile" rather than "Mobile".)

Not in Gmail
That's great to hear! I guess I will see them soon once it works its way into GApps users. I have a gmail account for android market and google reader...but I draw the line at my contacts!
Cool.. This is probably off topic a bit, but I have my outgoing calls automatically private (AT&T does it for me), so I manually put in *82 for some numbers..
Android tends to hide it, so I never know if I'm really sending my number (prefixing *82) or not. Actually I need to try something else, most other phones if I put in *82 AAA NNN-NNNN and that person calls me, it doesn't match the numbers so I have to put one with *82 and one without so CID shows that contact...
Okay this has nothing to do with the original topic... So...
Cool, I'll be glad to have some custom ones, as some folks have "Work cell" vs "Personal cell" or such. Thanks for mentioning it, I'll be tweaking at least a few folks in there.
they need to add the other fields that show up in the phone to the google contacts webapp (ie notes, birthday, etc)... birthday in particular needs to be better integrated to contacts and calendar in general so i can ween myself off facebook.
also would be nice to be able to list all my non organized contacts.. currently i can only list my organized contacts or "all contacts"
is this for the android contacts app or just the gmail web interface?

Just the Gmail Contacts interface, which if you don't see yet, will be rolled out to everybody over the next few days. But all the new data gets formatted and sync'd to phone (as opposed to having to edit hundreds of contacts via phone...)
Hey look, and we still can't add birthdays on from the phone. Good work Google. Keep it up.

The phone didn't magically change.... Therefore, no new features were added on the phone.

Hmm... Strange? Have you tried to reboot the phone? Cause i know there is some S7 service running behind my phone.. :S
AFAIK, My Sgs is rooted and i use an app called "Market Access" which emulates Different Sim card numbers on your phone to access the Android market of different regions. This app also works with Samsung apps and i have been able to get region specific apps through this method
Yeah, CabSG has appeared on my Samsung Apps. Apparently I'm from Asia. Yeah Samsung I think you've got this one wrong.
I also get the taxi app... ?? However when. I try to install the email apk from first post i get an error saying That i do not have enough space on my phone... And That is not true i have lots of space left on my phone.
I get this same error when i try to install the kart racing app. From Samsung apps...
Does anyone have an idea what i could do?
still no luck i keep getting no seven service

I get all notifications in the pull down bar for gmail, text etc. And it plays the sound I chose. BUT for my work email, I use the email app... and nothing. I get new emails, but no notification sound or in the pull down bar. This is my 3rd Samsung Galaxy. I'm familiar with the settings, and have double checked that I have checked off to be notified in the pull down bar. But nothing. No sound. No notification. I just know I have an email because the number changes on the icon. j
Any suggestions please??

No, the pulldown definitely works for email client. I checked on 2 different Samsung devices and it always has for me. What software version are you running?
I guess I will have to wait for an update.
Hey this has happened to me a couple of times and I got it working by turning off sync in Settings/Applications manager and then turning on again and then do this turn on then off in the stock email settings for syncing.

I turned it off in the actual app. But couldn't see it anywhere else in settings.
I like using the stock browser, especially since a bunch of the wave gestures only work with it (I like the sideways wave to go between tabs).
Anyway, I'm coming from a Galaxy Note 1, and I don't remember what I had done there but on that it is set up so my stock browswer bookmarks are synced with my chrome bookmarks...so when I add a new bookmark on my desktop chrome, it would sync to my stock browser bookmarks.
How do I set this up on the GS4?

I would also like to know this I came from a G3 and now have the G4.
I second that! I was trying to figure this out also and I couldn't find anything until this morning...
Under the Google account sync options, the Browser Sync option isn't there anymore. I compared this to my Galaxy S2. Apparently that process/option is somehow non existent in the Galaxy S4. I just found this apk file which I believe will load this option and it will then be able to sync bookmarks.
I'll be trying this myself a little later when I get to work.

There's a tons of tools to uninstall system apps like Titanium backup. Or you can simply remove the apk and related files with a file manager.

Guys go to the link I posted on the first page (2nd post of this thread). That's the source of this app. It belongs to Team BlackOut. If you want to follow the actual development of this app, and not report bugs to some random person just sharing the app who hasn't replied back to this thread once, go there. There's probably newer versions since this OP posted this anyways.
