So I tried to post in a ROM thread and get a message saying I'm not aloud cause I'm under 10 post and no expert but yet I was able to post there the other day twice which was no repost or a noob question. So now I can't post a question that still has not been posted by anyone else or has been posted anywhere. So guess I need to just make random post bout 7 more time so that can make me a expert at knowing what's going on just to post in certain threads ... Cool
What did you want to post? They had an announcement a few days ago about why new members (under ten posts) would no longer be able to post in the development section. Nothing to get upset over.

I have never heard of this happening but I guess if you say so.
I know you can't post links or files being a junior member but that's a new one on me.
Why not just post your question now?

Maybe this will shed some light on it.
Well like I said I was able to post twice just yesterday them now I can't and I brought it up to a buddy and he explained to me bout the new rule but kinda sux fir people like me I just sit back and wait cause most the time someone else always ends up asking questions that I have I mean I'm no expert but at the same time I know what I'm doing just by reading most of what's going on. But the question I had was I'd anyone knew of anything bout CM putting in more themes in the rom itself or there gonna be a new thread where we can dl them from? Also what if I had a problem to report bout a rom but couldn't post in the right thread am I to make a new one or sit back and wait to see if anyone ever post the same problem? Thanx for the help/advice

Generally the themes are in the "Themes and Apps" section. I think they figure that if you've gone through the process of rooting your phone, learning to use adb and flashing ROMs and kernels you've probably exceeded ten posts. They just want to keep the development sections clean so the developers stick around. I happen to think that's a great idea.

All you have to do is post ten times before you can post there, and if you are here enough contributing that shouldn't be so hard...?
It's a great idea. If you are going to root your phone and flash ROMs, hopefully you've taken the time to know everything involved in doing so.
Too many root their phones and have no idea what they are doing. It's not that hard to read and watch video to learn how things work.

Its kinda hard to contribute when u can't post in the rite thread. That's the whole point of this rant but also to just get me up to 10 post so when I do have a question or something that has not been brought to the table I can contribute!

Unfortunately, 90% of the posts by new users are in the wrong thread when they post to the development section. If you are in the 10% that do know what that section is for, then great, make your 10 posts and unlock the door. And thank you for contributing! Once you have been for awhile, you'll start to see for yourself why they made that change.
If it was a question then.. it shouldn't been in development
There's your problem from the start
Imo I think they should make the post count higher to post in development or even better they should hafta get a mod to approve if your allowed to

I'm down for a higher post count, 10 can be too simple, and people can just post a bunch of stupid ish in random forums to get to it. If you have a specific question about a rom, chances are you haven't read through the 30+ pages of that thread. So instead of posting about it again, search JUST the rom thread, not the android dev. forum, with 1-2 keywords of your problem, more likely than not, you will find a fix for your problem, or see that it is still unresolved.

I've been coming to XDA for about 6 months now, but I haven't been posting on the threads because I'm able to solve issues myself. It sucks that they just added this when there are plenty of people who are mature enough to search and solve their problems without complaining about not being able to find a fix. It seems like, once again, the ignorance of few have ruined it. I guess I'll just have to answer some questions until I get up to 10 posts so I can actually give input on bugs and other ROMs I test.

XDA answered your questions and provided ROMs to flash for your enjoyment for 6 months... I think 7 more informative/helpful posts is the least you can do to give back.
I'm also working my way up to 10 so that I can join in the CM7 discussion on this forum.
That is a ridiculous rule. It only does one thing it keeps some spamer or troll from sighing up and do his dirty deeds quick. Nothing else.
I have over hundred post and a title like "senior member", like that's supposed to be anything. I can tell you right now I don’t no my head from my ass. ~ & worse; I think I'm funny.
Vibrant Axura 2.2 Voodoo 5 JL5 via the XDA app
It has nothing whatsoever to do with spamming and trolling. If it was to control spam and trolls, don't you think they would have applied some kind of rule to ALL forums and not just the developer forums?
It's blatantly obvious that it's to keep people who don't know any better from posting off-topic non-development questions in the development forums. By the time somebody makes 10 posts, they've hopefully figured out where to post things.
I honestly can't believe this is even an issue... its 10 freaking posts. Get over it.

I bet 90% (or more) of all "Help me!" type posts can be resolved with those few threads. Maybe another 5% need to be directed to another thread or two, and only the last 5% or so actually require more information than what has already been posted. If people would follow the XDA rules, search, and read what is easily available, most of them wouldn't have problems in the first place...much less need to make posts about them time after time. This forum has evolved nicely and people have taken their time to put together guides, solve problems, and create helpful posts. It is a slap in the face of those people when others don't take the time to read the information they made available. I see it all of the time, people saying, "but this is Q&A, I should be allowed to ask questions yadayadayada...). For some reason, to them, Q&A means I don't need to search, read, or learn, I can just ask a question that has been asked 20 times already (usually still on the first page) and people must flock to me with easy answers on silver platters! Of course, that is assuming they even put the question in the Q&A forum to start with. For some reason, they think they are above the rules or they are so special the rules don't apply to them. Q&A (according to XDA) exists to help AFTER someone has already searched and read on their own...not as a substitute for doing so. And saying, "but I searched", when it is obvious that no searching or very little searching was done only makes them a liar as well.
At most, people should only need to be directed to this information (existing threads). If they choose to ignore this help or if they think they are too important to take the time needed to read and learn...too bad. Fortunately, most accept the help and take advantage of the information, others, well I guess they just need to sit around, all butt-hurt, with their bricks.
And to those that get butt-hurt...No, I'm not a Mod and I'm not affiliated with XDA, I just follow the rules that I agreed to when I signed up...just like everyone else is supposed to. DO you?
...and this isn't necessarily directed at the OP, I just happened to say it in this thread.
This is not unique to XDA. People on all forums ask before trying to find the answer. It doesn't matter how much good info is posted, most users want to be spoon fed instead of trying to learn on their own.
Even with power of Google, we see people post " how do I ....." On forums first, when the same query on google will give instant answers.
I can't explain it, but we are all witness to it.

A lot of members like Axman have invested many hours in writing great "noob" threads. Very well done and easy to understand. What I never get is why folks invest a lot of money in this phone, and others, and don't want to spend time educating themselves on how to root it and flash roms.

I started those guides thinking that everyone would be talking about flashing roms, whats cool, whats not, and so on, made them so anyone new could even understand, I must have forgotten that people just want to get a phone and start rooting and such, without reading because his buddy said it was cool to root and flash roms, even told him, here go to this site and get roms, and flash them. Then the process starts, a continuous posts of I can't , and it won't questions.
What gets me, you know they are not searching, because the post right above theirs has their problem right in the thread title. Saw one of those yesterday somewhere.
Ka dumb a$s, duh!

This! Also I got very intimidated by all the people screaming at me. I did a bunch of research before I asked the question and was still confused hence the question I'm not an xda idiot but the s4 was already very big in modding when I joined whereas the infuse and vivid had just started to get cwm and root when I got them so I grew with the romers I apologize for looking so nooby since reading the first post I now have a auto Loki cwm and root access and am running the Google edition ROM thank you all for the suggestions and links

Don't feel bad sometimes we need to vent--nothing personal
I came here in early May from the One S and close to 3.5 years of flashing HTC devices with the advantage of unlocked bootloaders thru fastboot. But, still felt like a noob here--still do--
Odin/Kies/Loki were all new. Esp loki. I have spent hundreds of hours reading probably a couple thousand posts. Still learning. It does take a lot of effort to figure this out for some of us--like me.
But, a good investment as one needs to not only know how but why--to not lose a pricey phone--
Welcome to the S4--Unbelievable Phone--:good:
EDIT: Problem Resolved
Hello, after reading for hours, I now realize that I was wrong. Not totally new to rooting, etc. but this one caught me off guard. I updated to the latest MF3 OTA from ATT.
My problem is I tried to install TWRP from the goo manager, and now the recovery doesn't work on the phone at all. For the longest time it just kept rebooting the phone endlessly, and I could make it get into download mode.
I managed to get the phone to boot up by flashing the stock rom with odin in the bootloader section (did this by accident trying to recover the phone), and then went into download mode, and clicked cancel. It booted up fine.
If I try to enter recovery at all, it goes back into the endless boot cycle till I do some playing around with odin.
How to do I get the normal recovery working again? I would like to factory reset this and sell it for a GPE phone.
Thank you for your time.
Is there a downloadable mf3 ROM out there I can use to flash it with Odin?

Not to be a stickler but it's the same person.
And not to be disrespectful, but the galaxyroot website says installing a custom recovery is fine but it must be rooted first - if not rooted go here - you go here and it shows the mf3 root method. Never said much else about it. I rarely use XDA to ask for information. The post always turns into a flame war with people who are extremely disrespectful. To me this forum is extremely mixed up with post, and other times the information isn't clear. I agree totally that I made the mistake, but I admit to my failure and now I'm trying to learn from it. I'll never understand why the people on this forum and I mean especially this forum love to bash others.

The reason people are annoyed is because people are constantly coming here with little knowledge, ignoring all the useful guides stickied at the top of the forums to try and help these exact same people, then rushing into an advanced procedure without a proper idea of what they're doing. Then they make a brand new thread to ask a question/beg for help, when it's already been answered 100 times, rather than searching for the answer first.
It's not something to get upset about because it's going to keep happening no matter what...but it is laughably annoying.
Anyways, I don't know what website galaxyroot is, but you need to get your info/guides/procedures/research right here at XDA...not at some random website with crappy information. That was your first mistake.

Absolutely!
And I might add...
Asking questions (regardless of how many times they have already been asked) is NOT learning. Learning IS searching and reading available information, no matter how much time it takes, until a person has complete knowledge about their device and what it is they are going to be doing to it. It is called "being responsible for your own actions":. People that keep asking the same questions over and over again are NOT trying to learn anything. They are just trying to get someone else that usually did take the time necessary to learn about their phone to get them out of a situation that they got themselves into while putting a minimum of their own effort into it. Just so they can go back and screw something up again.
People who ask valid questions AFTER they have searched, read, and learned are generally handled in a very friendly manner because they have displayed a willingness to actually learn about what they are doing. I've already said this in several other posts but it comes down to people that do things correctly versus people that are lazy, have a sense of entitlement, or feel as if their time is more valuable than others...it's just that simple.

I'm not quite understanding you. Instead of "checking another forum out to see if we have any solutions as of yet", why didn't you take the time to read what has been posted about it in this forum (as suggested)? People (here) even gave you a screenshot and instructions on how to find the EXACT links that would have helped. Was that not enough? I think you are being difficult just to be difficult...or do you really think that you shouldn't have to take the time to research and learn about something even when the links are handed to you? Maybe you should take a little of YOUR time to read and learn a little bit instead of expecting people to take THEIR time to answer your questions that have already been answered multiple times elsewhere, especially when people are nice enough to show you the way. What is your definition of "help"?
You don't have to answer any of this if you don't want to, I actually rather you didn't.

I'm not even going to fight with you. I'd suggest sticking on topic. Anyways I did thank those that helped so don't complain at me for not reading something you know about.
Nevertheless my recovery is working again now. Something that XDA doesn't have posted on it (at least for the mf3). Maybe I could be more of a nerd and explain things in more detail like I should have. I have been pretty sick these last few weeks. I'm a disabled veteran and have quite a lot of problems. You don't freaking know me. Don't tell me what I'm trying to be. Just because I'm not as familiar with this forum like you doesn't mean I didn't freaking try.
I am TRUELY sorry for the inconvenience I have put you through. I won't ask anymore questions here again. I'll go where I should have in the first place.
P.S. - read ALL my post before you decide to play God and tell me what I am. A post I referee to earlier was deleted so it kinda makes me look like a you know what.
Please don't try to bash me here anymore as I really never meant to offend anyone here. Its just really depressing to me that just because you found something and I didn't I'm the idiot.

You don't have to listen to the suggestions of people that are trying to help you, It's nothing personal. Good luck and I hope your health improves.

Wow - 1 question and 2 pages of beating this poor guy senseless.
No disrespect but you guys/gals with 1000+ posts, try to remember when you where single digit posts.
Some people dont "haunt" this forum day and night and know "common" issues/symptoms and their fixes.
I see lots of threads with what appear to be valid questions and just about all say "this has been covered - do some research".
I hope I never go to a Doctor and say "I dont feel well, my nose is running and feel itchy" and they respond "this has been covered - do some research".
Again no disrespect but WOW!!!!

If you find a doctor who provides around the clock support for free, let me know!
If that doctor posts the answers to most of your ailments right on the door when you walk in with a big READ THIS FIRST sign...and you walk right past it and ask him a question that's on the door, do you think that might get annoying?
Ok, I'm tired of this analogy!
To the people I see posting here "I bricked my phone" most of you are the ones with at&t latest ota update "MF3" please read and understand that the new mf3 update is completely on lockdown as of now! There is however a rooting method available but thats it! Completely locked bootloader with no I repeat NO CUSTOM RECOVERY!
with that being said.. if you attempt to root your phone on the mf3 update do not attempt to flash any recoveries as you will get into situations you dont want to be in!
ive seen so many post on here that says "I bricked my phone" and all of them are about the same exact thing
PLEASE READ FIRST BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!!
If you don't read, you deserve the brick you get yourself into. This device is too expensive to not read about. It is your own fault for not reading.

Unfortunately, this won't do any good. I understand why you posted it, I posted a similar warning in the root thread itself (the link is at the bottom of my signature), however, people will not read that either. I made my post to direct people to "after the fact" so they can see why they screwed up more than a warning before they screw up. I've made a few posts in threads like that, TheAxman has made a couple of threads instructing people about it, and a few others have done the same. It's even in the XDA rules that these people are supposed to be reading and agreeing to before they even can post.
One of the problems is that people use XDA to run to so they can ask questions about something they screwed up instead of using XDA as a place to come to to search, read, and learn. I can't tell you how many times I've seen, "It's Q & A, so I'm asking a question!". These individuals don't realize or care that the Q & A section isn't a replacement for them reading, searching, and learning, it is a section for people that HAVE read, searched, and learned, and have found something they need help with that hasn't been posted about and addressed 20 times already.
It really just comes down to laziness, ignorance, and people that think they are entitled. People that think their time is more valuable than the time of others and think everything should just be handed to them. If your time is so valuable that you can't take a little of it to read what others spent their time posting already, than you don't need to be doing anything to your phone...and probably shouldn't even have one.
So, yea, I understand why you made this post, and I think posts like this are definitely needed, but I just don't see the people that are causing the problems in the first place reading this or even caring to read it if someone points it out to them. Remember, their time is more valuable than yours.

I'm going to have to bump this again because if people would READ the forum and all the information thats here on the forum they would know that there's no recovery for MF3 at the moment. Also not to upgrade to MF3 if your on MDL. also not to try to flash a ROM on MF3. You can root. Now you got multiple posts in different threads from the same person that if he/she woukd have read then wouldn't be in this situation.

Good luck, this has been done numerous times, the only way for them to learn is have a bricked device, then they will HAVE to read......
Hello, still no method to root the note 4 verizon? I'm in version 5.1.1 Lollipop

how about instead of being a jerk just respond nicer. Maybe ... just MAYBE this person bought this pohone because of whatever reason and was too anxious to KNOW the answer many others already know without reading thousands or even hundreds of posts. I do not get why so many people have to respond like a dope. Have YOU ever asked a question you just wanted answered without doing some research?? WHY CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!!!

Thanks, just that I wanted a response well any more, newly buy it and have always liked the root, so I wanted to know if there is root, I do not make changes rom or anything, just root, thanks for the brother response, very friendly your comment
Unstable temp root via Kingroot app, reboots randomly (usually within 5-10 minutes from my experience, but long enough to uninstall the bloatware from verizon). Thats about it for right now.

This looks like something I may have tried in the past, but I could be wrong. Judging by the date of the post, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work, otherwise there'd be whole lot of people here going bananas and passing out from the shear joy of finally having root. But, like I said, I could be wrong, and hopefully I am. If you decide to take the plunge, let us know and hopefully everyone here in Verizon Note 4 land will have a reason to finally celebrate.
OK I may try it...wish me luck

Didn't work
I noticed your post in another thread, and it reminded me I did try this, or something similar, with no luck. It's something about CF Auto Root our phones don't like to play nice with. I think it's the locked boot loader.
that method only works on DE models.

I sincerely want to know why did you copy/paste ur post on several threads and even created your own? You're just making clutter and need to do a little research before posting. Even I knew soon as I saw CF that it was not for us.

why do you "sincerely" want to know tht for...so i posted in 3 diff places ....whats the big deal. only three place. wow lots of room there. very annoying right, whats funny/annoying to me is ..people like you spend more time criticzing other poeples posts instead of trying to find solutions to our root problems

I think the annoying thing they're referring to is the fact that there's at least two or three threads here talking about root. Each one specifically states that root is not available in any form, except for temp which does not last past reboot. I haven't had my Note 4 as long as some others here have, but I can understand how annoying it can be to see multiple threads on the same subject, only to find a post asking about something that is easy to find an answer to. Just saying.
All 3 are on the same board, so here I am looking at new posts for that board and all I get is the exact same statement each time. I suppose if you posted one here and one in one of the developer boards I could see your point. It would make more sense if it were one here and one over at android forums and then another at some other forum.

As you can see the other members understand very well the annoyances you have brought. We aren't really attacking or being rude but its the fact that it doesn't take too long to do a little research to see what has been tried and what hasn't. Also as it's been said a lot of us are looking for new things and solutions. So posting the same question several times gives us false hope we are all looking for new info man that's all.
