Hey guys
I have my sprint galaxy s4 and everything about it is perfect (aside from the sprint bit)
The only issue I have is when the phone is on vibrate mode, and I receive an email or other non-sms notification, it vibrates for a relatively long time. For sms it had the double pulsed vibe, but it's just one constant vibe for any other notification.
Is there anyway to use just the sms style vibe for all notifications?
Sprint gs4 stock, not rooted (could be if needed) latest firmware.
Thanks

Got my phone Thursday (ordered on launch day).
Basically with each notification from email, voice and maybe others, the phone vibrates twice. Even though I have vibration turned off in the notifcation settings for each app. I know this issue is not unique to Nexus 4, as my Galaxy Nexus began doing this as soon as I updated it to 4.2. It's pretty annoying though, and considering the Android team devs say they test the releases...I find it hard to believe something like this slipped through.
I'm pretty sure a bug report has been submitted to the android team, but wondering how you guys are dealing with this. Is there a workaround?
Loving the phone otherwise.
Thanks
-Mike
does it vibrate if the phone's on silent?
I am trying to use the phone on vibrate mode, but prior to 4.2 the settings in each app had an effect on which notification would vibrate and which wouldn't. In the gmail app I have it set to blink the notification LED and vibration is set to never.
It is widespread.

Hi everybody
Just bought this and I m quite happy with it. Only thing I noticed so far, I don't get any blink notifications (i.e. like when you have a missed call, a newly received SMS etc).
Most android devices I ve come across offer that functionality....
I don't care about whether its red, blue, white or pink - but does this XCover 2 have a built-in LED notification at all? Or is it that mine is defective? Or do I need to enable it via the OS somehow? (I haven't installed any 3rd party apps for hadling LED notifications - nor I m interested in doing so...)
Anybody owning this phone - please share your thoughts...
Cheers
Never mind, actually Samsung got back to me first.
They told me there is no LED notification on 7710 XCover. Pitty. It was cool, and useful feature

A bit annoying alright. It does vibrate really strong though.

yeah, I noticed same thing myself. It really gives you a chills for the very 1st time when it happens
I've been trying for a while to figure out how to have custom vibrate for the stock SMS app on a stock rooted rom with a stock Kernal through light flow. For some reason, the only way I can get it to work is by disabling notifications in the SMS app, but then I don't get a status bar SMS icon.
If I leave SMS notifications on in app, sometimes it does the regular weak double vibrate, sometimes a weak vibrate and a half, or just random weak vibrates.
It works fine on CM, but I'd really like to stay on stock. Any input?

You'd think if you could do all that stuff on stock there wouldn't be much a need for various custom roms
I love this option though.
PS: I noticed that some of the application such as the messaging app, usually has the ability to set a custom vibrate pattern in it's own setting, so it may be a per-app basis (if they don't have the option then I imagine they use the system default).
When I first got my N4, I experimented with light flow. I bought my phone unlocked and been using it as the way it was out of the box. Haven't experimented with different roms and kernels yet but I would do that eventually. Light flow works perfectly on mine, I changed the vibration, light notification and duration of how long it will vibrate and stay on. I didn't have to change the settings or anything on the MMS app.
One thing that I did do though on light flow is, the same settings that I used for the SMS, Is what I used for the MMS. Trying doing that and see is if it works.

I do the same thing, making sure it is the same between SMS and MMS. I've tried checking different options in light flow, toggling vibration in the MMS app, and I just can't a custom vibrate pattern.
In the end, I want sound only in a sound mode and vibrate only in vibrate mode with custom vibrations. And for what it's worth, the light settings work fine.

Its not really custom vibrations per Se, the Developer gives you list of different vibration patterns you can choose from in whatever light flow app setting you choose. You can choose to have the vibrate, vibrate only when phone is silent. Not sure about the sound thing. I don't think you can do it the way you are talking about. Honestly there are so much things you can do with light flow that I didn't bother going through it.

I decided to just stay stock and switch to Go SMS, although I like the stock SMS better. Although Go SMS natively supports custom vibrations, I'm using Lightflow to control everything (mostly since it allows separation of ringer and notification volumes).
Using the stock app with Lightflow, I can't get any of the preset vibrate patterns to work. I spent an hour earlier going through all the different settings modes (direct mode ect) and still nothing.
Something I find strange is that if Lightflow is uninstalled and "vibrate" is unchecked in the SMS app, it will give me a very weak 1.5 vibrates. If it is checked, it gives me two strong vibrates, which would do what I want, but then it also vibrates when in sound mode. With lightlfow installed, it does all kind of crazy random vibrates.
I feel like I'm being a bit picky, but I "crotch" my phone when I drive and I can't even feel this thing vibrate with stock SMS.
I'm having a weird issue with my GF's new LG G2. I can't get it to not blink the LED when Wi-Fi calling is on. I've even tried unchecking every notification light in the stock settings, and making sure lightflow is off, and disabling the persistent notification via the app manager. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like her to be able to just leave Wi-Fi calling on, but the light is so annoying. Thanks guys.

It is absurd!
there is no solution for that simple problem in any forum in the internet. and nobody talk about that problem, even samsung itself doesn't seems to work on a fix, its like samsung doesn't even know that problem.
everyone knows that the galaxy s5 have issue beening in the pocket While geting new Notification, because the screen is turn on and it's unlock the lockscreen by itseft inside the poket and you can suddenly find out that it sent SMS by itself in the pocket or call someone by itself or open google maps by itself in your pocket without even noticing!!!!
This is a huge screw-up of Samsung !!!!!!!!!!!!
in kitkat 4.4.2 it was only the Default SMS app that turn the screen on when new message arrive, but now in Marshmallow 6.0.1 - Every ***king app turning the ***king screen on, and there's no way to turn this thing off!!!!!!!!!!! even if i have root access!!!!!! nothing!!!!!!!
i don't want to turn off completely the lockscreen Notifications
i don't want to turn off the Sound of the Notifications
i don't want to turn off the led light Notifications
i just want that the screen will stay off While getting new Notification !!!!!!
like every normal android phone Out there!!!!!
SAMSUNG, is that too much to ask???????????
is there anybody here that can show me a solution for preventing the screen turn on every time i get new Notification While keep popup Displayed on lockscreen and keep the sound alert and keep the led light flashing????
i have root!!! and i'm not Afraid of Deal with system files and codes - i'll do anything to stop this!!!
just please!!! somebody!!!!

TNX for trying, but I don't even have that option in the display settings. There's no toggle to turn on or off.
Are you sure you taking about galaxy s5 with marshmallow 6.0.1?
Are you on Official firmware or custom rom
