I just updated my phone for the first time. Its now 2.2. Ugh. My main issue is I no longer have a market! When I click on the market icon, it says "Application is not installed on phone." Called verizon, their only fix was to do a factory reset, which I don't want to do. Any way around this? I want the market back!!
Sounds like its time to factoy reset. All your paid apps and contacts will be backup throu ur gmail account

I've searched and searched and nothing has worked. I can't wipe.
I don't know how u mean, but if you'd like to unbind your phone from your account you have to go to Settings->Acc & sync->[Choose your account]->Remove. The other thing is to completely delete your account, to do this go to https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount, click Edit and select Close account and delete all services and info associated with it, comfirm it and you deleted your account

i looked in my google voice account and theres no such options as to the first method that you suggested....
Could you be a little more specific on what you are trying to do? Do you not want to have any google account on your phone? Are you wanting to switch to a different google account? Are you trying to delete your gmail account completely?
i know what you are trying to do. You are trying to remove the google account you associated your phone with right? Well, unfortunately you cannot do that. You would need to reflash the ROM to be able to do so.
Refpashing is a bit brutal. A hard reset should be enough.

Or you goto manage applications and reset defaults for all google apps...

You could also grab Android ID changer and change your ID (Google account associated with your current ROM). Then, you could switch back and forth. *shrugs*...
Factory Reset is the safest way. Changing ID can invalidate all your apps and bugger it up, plus you can't use ID changer if your phone is NANDLOCKED.
I spent a lot of research on this, there is just too much data that needs to be changed to simply switch your primary Google authentication account. Make your backups then Factory Reset, just as the Sync settings suggests.

But its faster just to reset the accounts and not have to redownload all the apps, resync facebook and whatever else is going on...
Uhuh... and how exactly does one get around the message saying you cannot delete the default Google account? Once you sign in to Google on firstboot for market, the phone is locked to that Market account.
As for redownloading all your apps, I take it you've never used Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro. Note that if you buy something on Market, you cannot transfer that purchase to another Gmail account.

You're not deleting the account..you're just clearing data and defaults for the app..I've used TB and did forget to note that in my post..so thanks..as for MyBackup Pro I haven't..if you're rooted can't you still move purchased apks to the sdcard?

You mean going to "Accounts and Sync" in TB > Wipe Data? I did that, but it resulted in FC's whenever trying to go back to add a new account. The Google Account ID assigned to the phone is a lot more tied-in than simple appdata, I even did a full find/replace on com.android.* databases and the best I got was annoying "Authentication failed" errors on startup, and Market, Gtalk, etc. All had FC's.
The .android_secure folder on SD cannot be hotswapped between phones, they need to be re-registered in the package registry... which TB handles mostly perfectly. Some paid apps do fail authentication checks after a TB restore though due to custom fingerprinting it seems, and have to be "revalidated" via Market install. One example that comes to mind is Flow (Facebook client) and Executive Assistant+.

How old is that? I don't have "Gmail" nor "Google Apps" installed. The manual database method mentioned is what I did, resulting in corruption (the account was still there but I got 'Authentication Failed' from Market on startup). Risky. But good luck....

Watch out Gmail 2.3.5 update seems to break widgets and launchers that show unread Gmail. Now I wish I had backed up my GSII Gmail with TB...
Yeah that kind of sucks. Will just have to wait fire the launchers to provide us with an update!

You can do a Google search for Gmail 2.3.4.1 and install that. Fixed my problem.

I had issues rolling back... Even after uninstalling the update, my notifications were still broken, ended up doing a factory reset (and good thing I do a daily backup!)
Was having all kind of other problems with the new gmail app too...auto sync wasn't working anymore so had to refresh manually, emails sometimes wouldn't send and the number of unread emails wouldn't clear. A complete mess really

I can't update GMail, I can't even see it in the Market? Does anybody know why?
It's not among all the Apps I have downloaded.
I can't even find it when searching for it, it just doesn't show up!?

Just search for "gmail" in the market. App is preinstalled so it won't show in the apps downloaded from the market, but if you find it in the market it will just say "update". And yeah, 2.3.5 gmail breaks all notification services that are supposed to retreive unread emails, no longer possbile for now, but i use Samsung Social Hub anyway.
Here is a link to explain it further.
"Basically, previously an app just had to declare that they use the READ_GMAIL permission in it’s Manifest and it would all work. Now though, they’ve added the androidrotectionLevel="signature" which means that only the Gmail app itself can access it’s DB (as that’s the only thing which will have the right signature).
Which means that all the Gmail notifiers, widgets, etc in the Market will not work. Ever. The same can be said for FriendCaster’s Gmail notifications feature.
Thanks Google…."
Yeah!!! Thanks Google!
Edit: Also, Google's competitor (Windoz Phone) shows an unread count on their phones, why can't google have the same native widget that does an unread count. We had to completely rely on 3rd party developers, BUT NOW it wont work!
STUPID GOOGLE!
Someone mod it lol

just don t install de update , or unistall it from market , it breaks , popup , missed reminder , etc.... i won t install untill the other app works with the new gmail
Gmail v2.3.5 seems to break ADWNotifier to. Because that can notify of e-mails from Gmail.
ADW Notifier can no longer do a "count" but can put up the question mark bubble, at least in Chuck Norris mode. Latest update fixed the FC issue it was having.
Google probably though they were helping increase Android security, as I imagine they changed the permissions to prevent potential privacy problems.
I unlocked Gmail 2.3.5. Pure messenger widget can read Gmail 2.3.5 (modded) if you follow 'solution 3' ... http://bit.ly/ph4T0a

Would be nice to try Social Hub, but it will not accept GMail as an account on my phone. Gave up on it.
Tried the uninstall update method. No go.
Google's starting to develop some of the M$ bad habits. Maybe they ARE getting too big.

I've had the phone 4 days. Might have to do my 3rd factory reset! Fun and games. Your solution seems to be the only one that works.

I ended up doing a Stop, Clear Cache, Uninstall, and reboot. I'm back on 2.3.4.1.

But does it work?
Hey guys. Cam someone help me figure out a fix for error 927 in the play store. It won't allow me to update or download any apps. Some times it will work but man its driving me nuts. I Googled it like crazy and none of the "fixes" i find work. I talked to Google support today and that was a huge waste. I created and new Gmail and bam all is good but the biggest problem is of course all my paid apps are attached to my original Gmail. Does anyone know of a real fix or am i just out all the money I've spent in apps since 2009?

Wow that is weird if it is tied to your account specifically. Let's narrow it down to see...
Update apps on different network connection. Try both 4g and over WiFi/secondary WiFi. Does error still occur?
Force stop Play Store, Google Services Framework, and Google Account Sync. Uninstall Play Store Updates, and clear data within each app/service. Reboot the phone. Does error still occur?
Remove your account entirely from your phone and add a different account, reboot phone. Does error still occur?
If you have 2 accounts setup make sure you choose the account tied to those apps in the play store. Sometimes it defaults to the last one you added.
