Hi, the T-Mobile Screen Lock Application is really useful, but I miss 1 feature: Auto Screen Lock after x seconds of inactivity, why? : When push emails or sms or notifications coming in, the device wakes up and screen goes on and if the screen was not locked manually before and if it's in my pocket (a lot of ands, I know...) keys are pressed randomly.
So happend to me yesterday, I called 7 randomly persons and I didn't noticed until the called me back and asked me if I'm crazy...
B.
You can put a password on your device that will lock the device after x sec. Then it will wake up, handle the call & still be locked for other functions. Omega One has got a 'Safe' as well. Gives you a nice clock & your appointments as well while the device is locked.
Cheers, M
oltp: Omega one's app is very nice. Have you tried resource hacking it to match your Today theme etc, or add warnings and stuff? It makes it even better!
V
Hi VJ,
Nope not yet, in fact I ditched all OO aps when I didn't have a BS rom. No I need to reinstall it & find the time to 'alter' One Pass.
Probably spending too much time in solving other people's rom, etc probs. But thanks for the reminder I completely forgot the hacking possibilities. Any tips/links where to find a description to it?
Cheers, m
oltp: Just load it up using any resource hacker and change them bitmaps.
Very easy but slightly hackery. I don't use it either because it screws with buttonmax and similar apps. They're aware of the problem but don't appear to have fixed it when I last tried it... nice app though.
V
Thank you V,
Will try it soon.
Thanx, i needed the same thing and forgot all about the password!
Just set to 0 mins and it will only lock on boot or when coming out of standby
/me is happy now!
Omega One's app is 1-pass?
At Omega One homepage tell that is not WM5 compatible!
Can expalin please?
Thanks
I have a MDA Vario. In SETTINGS --> TODAY --> ITEMS tab, what is "Today timeout", which is set at "4 hr" by default?? Does anyone know pls? I do not see any reference to it in the manual. Thx.
Tones
I think that's the amount of time after which it will return to the today screen if you left it with an app open and didn't touch it.
i tried it last night by leaving a game running, but it was still there when i got up the next day. it does seem to be the function u described, mate. Anyone else have any ideas pls?
A game will certainly work differently as it will request permanent focus and fullscreen. Just try with a standard app like calendar...
well, it was only a simple solitaire card game, but nonetheless I will try standard one like you suggested. But if this "timeout" function really is to return to TODAY screen, what is the real use of it? to timeout in 4 hours? and the longest possible time option is 12 hours.
Doesn't it simply stop refreshing the today screen (ie the clock and other values)?
It still refreshes the clock when you put it into sleep mode. However, after a number of hours it always takes some time for the clock to jump to the correct time.
It is the idle time before the Today screen is shown.
It's near useless, I almost always keep my today screen on anyway, because who wants to wait 4hours to see it
Use my TodayButton app if you want quick access to the Today screen...
V
personally, I always return to the TODAY screen anyway by shutting down applications after i'm done with them. I just thought this "timeout" thing was a sophisticated and useful function, but it turns out to be quite the opposite. But i will never understand why anyone want to design it to timeout in HOURS and not in minutes.
I'm the same, I shut down apps and always leave it on the Today screen!

Doesn't the Red button do that anyway?
Nah, red button minimises apps to leave them running in the background (I think it actually just switches to the today screen). Some don't mind this, but for me, if I want the app open, I'll open it, and when I want it closed, I want it closed.
VJOkButt allows you to use the red button to minimse or close, and also properly close the phone to save around 3mb memory. But it does this sympathetically with the phone, so if you're in the phone, it hangs up, but otherwise it's a minimiser.

lolz
Morale of the story.... no one knows it. I always keep it disabled. So no big deal.
Had PDF softcopy of Reference Manual of my O2AL, and searched with no hint at all. Lets be it.....
I thought...
Guys,
I just stumbled upon this thread and thought it might be a good idea to get educated. I never knew it.
But this is what I thought - I thought it is the time slot to show appointments.
Means, if you chose a slot of 4 hours, and there are continuous meetings scheduled in your calender (and display of them enabled), then it would act like a rolling 4 hours window (read as slot).
Does this make sense? I never had so many appointmens, but always thought this was the use of it.
Comments please.
What does the Today Time OFF do? I tried changing the time off and I can't seem to notice any difference if I set it to 1 hour or 12 hours.
Hello Christian,
You're going to have to be a bit more precise. What Today Time Off?
Perhaps you're talking of this setting, which has mystified many:
Under Start/Settings/Today, the second tab (Items), has a "Today Timeout" option that never seems to do anything.
What this option actually does, is that if your device has been off for the selected amount of time (1hr - 12hr), the operating system will hide (minimise) all the active windows, and bring the Today Screen to the foreground. This is useful for those people that run Today items with information they would like to check (stock tickers, calendar viewers), and not have to be reminded that they had a game running last time they were using the device.
If this is not it, please be more specific.
I'm having a problem with an alarm that I can't cancel.
The alarm sounded at the correct time but the softkey to snooze or dismiss it never appeared. A soft reset failed to get rid of the alarm so I went into 'Clock and Alarms' and unchecked the two alarms that had been set. I then soft reset again and this didn't have any affect either.
I then went into Clock and Alarms again and discovered that the unchecked boxes were checked again. So I changed the times, unchecked them and clicked OK before soft resetting again. This still didn't wotk and the alarms are back to showing the original time with the boxes checked again.
The front indicator light is flashing orange, suggesting that there is a notification waiting, but there is no alarm symbol or softkey shown on the screen. I have discovered that if I receive an SMS then the notification for that appears correctly. When I dismiss this then the light changes to green, until I soft reset again when it vibrates for the alarm again and returns to an orange light again.
I think this may actually have something to do with Vito Button Mapper. I have had it installed and the trial has expired but I hadn't uninstalled it. I had noticed over the past few days that the Messaging and Web buttons on the front panel were no longer working. This morning I uninstalled the program (after the alarm problem started). This seems to have resolved some of the button problems but I was also getting an error message about 'Buttons.exe'. Eg. The Comms Manager button wasn't working until I assigned it to another app, then saved it and changed it back to Comms Manager again.
I've seen another post which recommends using SK Tools to try and resolve the alarm issue. I only have the trial version of SK Tools so I don't think I can do this. However, it did show me that the softkeys were still assigned to the Vito app.
I have tried using MemMaid to do a clean but it crashes at the Duplicate Notifications step.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I don't really want to do a hard reset and I don't want to buy SK Tools if it isn't going to solve the problem.
thanks
I was going to suggest memmaid and Sktools but I see you already tried. I use Sktools - you have the trial but it might be worth a try because I think the trial (from memory) allowed a limited list of 6 items to show up. Hopefully six items would be enough and if you got rid of one or two items when you re run it it might allow another six??
Mike
Thanks Mike I'll give that a try
I had the same problem as you about the alarm...
What I did, was download the check_notifications program from scarybear software (it is free) and even it says it is not for WM5, worked for me displaying all the notifications my TyTN have in.
There were more that 25 notifications!! most of them in the past and duplicated (well actually not "duplicated" but 7 or 8 times each one!)... I manually delete a lot of the notifications and only leave 7 of them (I really do not know if all of them are necesary but they seem to be "important") and after that the alarm went away and the new alarms/notifications star working again.
In my case, the problem was caused (I think) by a game named SPB AirIslands, cause I have more than 15 notifications of this game... after uninstalling the game and deleting the notifications everything is working just fine so far now.
Hope this can help...
regards
Thanks all,
I've tried a combination of SK Tools, Mem Maid and Check Notifications and I have half solved the problem.
I have now got to the point where I can cancel the alarms, clear the notifications, and I no longer have an orange light indicating that there are any outstanding notifications.
However, if I get into the same problem every time I try to set an alarm. The alarm will sound but the softkeys to cancel it do not appear. The softkeys for missed calls and SMS notifications DO appear, so it doesn't actually seem to be a problem with the buttons application itself.
One other thing I've just realised is that since this problem started appointment alarms no longer work at all.
Can anyone suggest anything else I should look for in MemMaid etc. that might help? I'm assuming that I will probably now have to do a hard reset to fix this but I really want to figure out what the cause is so that I can avoid it happening again (I never had to hard reset my M2000 once in 18 months use!).
thanks
Mark
Same here..
Well, I thought I am the only one with that problem: Its a T-Mobile MDA compact II with a german OS.
Any solutions? I realized I could delete the Alarm notification to get rid of the repeating alarm. But it is no help to run Pocket Mechanic (Notifications) every morning to silence my TyTN...
ROFL. I have similar strange behaviors with notifications. I finally decided to try to figure it out. I had 579 notifications in queue! I ran CheckNotification and it eliminated all but 12!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Todd,
got 92 notifications, all of them correct. CALENDAR.EXE for appointments, and some for device wakeup (Backup etc.) - any other idea?
I still haven't got to the root of the problem but here's an update in case this ever helps anyone else:
* I've tried to clear the alarms problem using SK Tools, MemMaid and Check Notifications. I've found it easier to use MemMaid but I'm sure the other apps will achieve the same thing.
* Soft resetting after clearing the offending entries from the notification queue seems to clear the alarm, but only if I select soft reset from within MemMaid (rather than resetting with the stylus).
* The problem still happens again every time I set an alarm.
* Appointment alarms in Pocket Informant are no longer working. The device sometimes seems to wake at the correct time, but the alarm does not sound and no notification appears on screen.
I've tried hard resetting and then restoring with a Sprite Backup. Unfortunately I didn't have a recent backup from before the problem started (carelessness on my part as I allowed a scheduled backup to overwrite it before I tested this approach).
So I think I'm going to go back to a very early back up (which I was trying to avoid so that I didn't have to reinstall too many apps).
However, I assume there is still something screwed in the registry somewhere, so if anybody ever comes across a solution please feel free to add it to this thread
I have a similar problem on my 8525. (posted a new thread before getting pointed here)
Before my 8525 I used to rely on my phone’s alarms to wake me up in the morning when traveling.
Now I have a problem.
1. the Default Alarm program does not work. No idea why, but I read you need a soft reset program to make them work. So I bought SkSchema. Now my phone resets ten mins before my Alarm is supposed to go off. For some reason the soft reset kills the alarms…
2. So Alarms still don’t work, but I want to run a test, so I turn on my alarm for 2 mins after setting it. 2 mins later it turns on, now problem 2. I can’t turn it off. It keeps going off for over twenty mins before I figure out how to trick it into turning off (soft reset alone did not work) I had to set a new alarm then soft reset, somehow it turned it off.
3. I am relentless. So I decide to try using SkSchema’s reminder setting as an alarm. It survives the reset test. Then it goes off. Well I hit cancel on the notification and the alarm is still going off as I write this. Luckily I only had ten repeats setup… but the odd thing is the repeats are 5 mins apart. I am praying it will stop on the tenth repeat. Or I might be doomed to a hard reset.
So now a question…
Is there any reliable way to have an alarm on the 8525? I’ll go buy another program if I must just point me in the right direction.
And, Anyone know why I can’t turn off the alarms when they do work?
Thanks in advance, this is driving me crazy.
Q
Same issue...
I do nout use the built-in alarms anymore. Notification foe Calendar events works fine but alarms cannot be dismissed.
Well, I do use SKschema now.
i use spb Time, had similar issues as above before I used the spb app, no problems now and I can set mp3s as the alarm tone.
SKtools running in auto mode on startup fixed my problem, but it did not fix it until I unlocked the full version. Memmaid did not fix the problem.
I still can not use the built in alarms but skshema (or whatever the SK tolls schedule program is) does work.
Drives me nuts too...!
I'm using the check_notifications too to clear the red double alerts. But I have to do this every time after the alarm goes off... also I don't get any alarm reminders for calendar entries.
Isn't there anyone here who knows where the problem exactly is? there seems to be so much experts in this forum!! love to get rid of this problem - without, again, paying for some third party solution...
Hi,
No solution, just another poor soul with the same problem. It started a couple of days ago, when I could not stop the alarms. And now I do not get appointment reminders either. So I'll be watching this thread carefully and waiting for the expert that will solve it.
Thanks!
That is what is nice about SKtools (not sure if the others do this) But SKtools runs in automation mode, I have mine set to auto run on startup.
I also use SKhema to schedule resets.
So with a reset set to go off in the morning all my alarms work.
You can always tell if this is what is causing problems if your light is flashing orange but you have no notifcations to dismiss.
Although I must admit it is pretty lame that this even happens in the first place, but oh well I still like my phone.
EDIT:
With a little hard work we could probably figure out what is causing this. First we need someone to do a hard reset and run for a bit to see if this problem comes back.
If not we know it is a program.
Then we need to collect data on what programs we are running, to narrow it down.
I have a theory that it might be Pocket Informant. Just a theory.
Don't think so. I do not have Pocket Informant, and it happened to me.
After dowloading CheckNotifications and running it, I now have alarms again (plus the ability to dismiss/snooze them). Haven't checked the notifications yet. I had 200+ notifications, and I pressed Clear in CheckNotifications, which left just 2 items in the list. After reading all the warnings, I hope ActiveSync still works...
Desktop Outlook connection?
Having almost got rid of this problem it seems to have partially re-appeared. The normal alarms seem to work fine but I'm having intermittent problems with the notifications.
I'm beginning to suspect that this may have something to do with snoozing/dismissing alarms in a combination of both desktop Outlook and the PPC.
My MDA is often left plugged into my laptop at work for most of the day. So I will very often use Outlook to snooze and dismiss timed tasks and reminders throughout the day. I'm not really sure what the PPC is supposed to do under these circumstances. ie. when the device is connected is it meant to sound alarms or not?
I'm not sure because it seems inconsistent. Eg. sometimes the notifications appear on the device as well as the desktop, but I'm not convinced that this always happens. Also, because I'm snoozing the alarms on the desktop I'm not sure what effect (if any) this has on the notification queue on the device itself.
(Hopefully that explanation makes some sense!)
Does anybody else who is experienceing the problem regularly leave the device connected in this way?

I have no solution yet, but my 8125 just started doing this to me yesterday morning.
And here is the strange thing... I have changed NOTHING in my phone. Monday morning it worked fine. I didn't do anything with the phone besides make calls and send/recieve texts on monday. Haven't installed anything new or changed any settings. Tuesday morning, it started alarming with no notification window. The alarm sounds with no way to stop it. If I soft reset the alarm starts right up again as soon as the phone comes back up.
I don't understand why it would do this out of the blue for no reason all of the sudden.
If I find an answer I'll post it up for sure.
I'm quite convinced now that the appointment/task notification problem is related to my using the notifications in both Outlook and the PPC.
(The problem originally started shortly after I began to use actively use Outlook at work).
I still haven't really figured out what is going on, but the appointment and task notifications don't seem to work at all on the device itself anymore only in Outlook. Even deleting stuff from the notification queue doesn't seem to resolve it.
Below you will find links to both of the widgets they showed off during the launch event last week. First is a basic date/weather widget, and the second is a FULLY working calendar widget. Behaves exactly like the calendar widget on the Pixel 2. If the appointment is today, it shows time until appointment in hours, if less than an hour, it switches to minutes, and if it is tomorrow or later it displays in days. During the time of the next appointment it displays (Now) and on the minute the appointment starts, it displays (Due Now). See video below for example.

Nice! How did you create it? I personally made both in one widget using Zooper. If an event is closer than 6 hours, show the calendar widget. If the upcoming is more than 6 hours away, show the date + weather. But the code doesn't work flawlessly yet when switching from one widget to another.

If you download the widget, you can check it out. It is basically a LONG ass formula that analyzes the calendar event, looking at start date, and event time, and current time, and determines whether or not the event starts today or in the future. If it is today, but not yet within an hour of the event (again, formula arguments in Zooper) if displays the time in hours until the event start time. If the same day, and the current hour is 1 hour from the start time of the event, it displays in minutes. If the event date is greater than the current date, then it displays Tomorrow if it is one day away, and then 2 days, 3 days, etc. The formula is ridiculously long, and I had to use multiple and statements (&&) to account for every possible scenario. Also, since you can not do text strings and math together in Zooper (it will display the math as a text string (e.g. if you put (24-5) Minutes, it will display (24-5) Minutes instead of 19 Minutes)) I had to do multiple, redundant && arguments to account for the math that needed to be done, and the text that I needed to display alongside the math. It was a pain trying to get it to work, but once I did, I felt very accomplished
I am using it, and is really great. Thanks for your excellent work. I only have one problem. If an appointment is not in exact hours, and for example is at 12:30, it starts countdown to 12 o'clock, and not to 12:30. Maybe I am just encountering this because of my country's different calendar layout. (DD/MM/YYYY). Anyway, it is no big problem, and again, thank you for your work

Oh my God dude, you just found a bug in the conditional formula that I hadn't accounted for..
I fixed it, and updated the link in the OP. I had one missing conditional to recognize and act right for certain appointments that occurred at 30 minutes intervals. I fixed it though, so it should work perfectly now. Please redownload and replace the older version of you're already using the widget.
Really appreciate you pointing that out because I probably would not have noticed it!
Excellent widget i'm using it right now with action launcher and it's amazing, although i wonder if there is a way to push the weather and make it take you to the google current location weather, the one with the frog. I tried messing the configuration of the widget in zooper but it's kind of buggy, i couldn't figure a way to make it take me to that weather page, the closest thing was to make it take me to the google app.

Widget fixed again. Had to correct another bug. Please redownload if you downloaded already.
Can someone do a quick tutorial on how to create this widget ?

Got it working just have ?? For weather.
First, thank you for making this widget! Great job!
I noticed a bug in it when the time till the next meeting is more than an hour but less than 2 hours, it simply says "minutes" without a number in front of it. I've included a screenshot for reference. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Aq7Je57V6a4jLl3x1
Also, if you have a really long event title, what worked for me was adding
before #C0TITLE# and
after #C0TITLE# to limit the character length on the first line. So, that it looks like this
#C0TITLE#
you can do this with tasker. by creating a task in tasker for google weather, this allows you to link the module in the zooper widget to it.
really good
thx, really nice work. the only think that isnt working is the weather part for me.

I actually saw this minutes error this morning. Working on a fixed version now. Thanks for the screenshot. I will also add the title character limiter as well, as I noticed the same thing with the title length yesterday when I had an appointment that was auto-added to my calendar by another app. I will get a fixed version up hopefully tonight.
Awesome! And, fyi, I've actually been testing different character limits and so far 30 seems to be a good limit. Thanks for the updates!
OP updated again. Fixed a few minor bugs in the calendar widget. If you already downloaded the calendar widget, please redownload and replace the old version. Enjoy.

Does this happen to anyone else? The time for the calendar event sometimes says (now) twice: (now)(now)

I haven't experienced this.. I'll look into it. The time formula is getting so convoluted, I'm thinking of simplifying and rewriting the entire thing. I will try to recreate this bug and fix it if I can.

Name of the widget is the same, but it's updated.
Ok, so I'm not sure what's going on with my widget. The "time until next event" works when it's hours and minutes, but the "days until next event" function has stopped working. Which is weird because the code hasn't changed, zooper itself hasn't been updated (obviously), and my calendar app hasn't been updated. This function used to work, so it's weird that it just all of a sudden stopped. I've attached a screenshot to illustrate what I'm talking about. Also, I've tested another zooper skin that's similar to this one, and the same thing is happening with that one, as well. Any idea what's going on?

Double widget
Hi, have been using a mix between your two widgets for a while now, but it doesn't display the calendar events, coz I wanted the date instead... However would there be any chance you could assist me with making a version of the calendar text (just the ___ in __ minutes text box, not any of the others) that displays the date if the event is further than 6 hours away and the calendar event if it's closer? Or even just tell me how I'd manage it. The best I got was the event name then the date, but I couldn't get rid of the name.... Any chance in a bit of advice?
