[Q] CM10 4.1.2 wifi interfering with notebook wifi - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I recently started using Quarx CM10 11-05-2013 and minimal gapps from tejus.k.v
Everything is working well, it's too recent for me to say otherwise. But one thing I noticed is that everytime I connect to the wifi on my Defy, my notebook starts getting reception problems. If I keep pinging the router and everything is smooth while my device's wifi is disabled, but when I enable it, my notebooks starts to miss some packages. I only realized it in my Windows 8 notebook. I work with a MacBook Pro and I didn't notice this issue. I kept the two of them pinging the router and on the mac, everything smooth, on the windows, a lot of packages missing.
My router is a Linksys E2500. The issue appears on a notebook with Windows 8 and NOT on a mac book pro. I also thinks it happens on another Windows 7 notebook.
Does anyone had anything similar to this?
TIA

I have the same issue , its the new wifi drivers fault.
Not sure why Quarx ignore the problem.
I have tested now with four different routers and every laptop or phone conected have issues while i am connected.

Do you think the 22/05 build fixed this problem? Some guys are saying the phone is rebooting when you disable the wifi so maybe he tweaked the wifi drivers a little bit.

[Q] Wifi stalls [Solved]

Pardon me if this is a repeat, but I've searched and found nothing.
I'm on Moto Defy/MB525, rooted, overclocked, CM7.
My issue is this....Wifi on my home network connects just fine, surfs just fine, until I connect andFtp to my Mac. Initially, everything is good...connects fine, ls- fine, allows selection of file on host and destination on client. The problem comes in between 2% & 5% transfer; wifi stalls, socket disconnects(Server kick out?), wifi becomes inactive for anything/everything. I can cycle the wifi and it 's functionality returns. Then I'm back at the start. Thought it was andFtp, but it works fine with my website, as does my Mac.
So I guess my question is....why would/should/could FTP cause the wifi to fail?
Thanks in advance

Not exactly the same as your issue but I see you use CM7 and thats the one ROM that I have had wifi issues with, do the problems occur when the screen goes to sleep ?The issue I have is that regardless of wifi sleep policy when the screen goes to sleep, although I am "connected" streaming radio starts to stutter,or transfer rates will crash,I know its not the same issue as the one you have but here is a link to bug report for CM 7
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4232
The motorola milestone was/is plagued by similar issues when using WPA2 with certain access points. I think it was related to buggy TI wifi drivers.
For milestone, this was recently fixed in kabaldans CM7 port.
Maybe the defy is using the same buggy drivers?

Thank you both for the answers.
Bombardier, sleep seems irrelevant, it does stutter and I am on wpa2, figure I'll try something different now, eh?
Nanzy, ill try the other rom you mentioned.
Thanks again.

This turns out to be the solution. Switching to WPA solved the entire issue. Thanks again for the insight.

Kernel Panic & No Wifi connect

Hi folks,
my device is sometime unexpectedly rebooting, this happens like once every month, so it's not very often. Still it's annoying me. So after it reboots, it wants to send me an email with a bugreport. I looked at it but it doesn't say much to me. Hopefully someone can help me with this?
I also have a bigger issue with my home wifi, I can't connect to it with my Nexus, mobile phone is working fine though. I think the corresponding line here is: "wpa_supplicant: wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-ASSOC-REJECT". This is really a problem because the tablet is kinda useless to me without network connectivity at all. I've worked around by setting up another Acess Point with openWRT, acting as client bridge to the main wifi network. The Device is Nexus 7 8GB with Android 4.2 if it helps. Sorry for my bad english & thanks in advance.
regards Tou
rebooting around once a month?
first how can you notice that,
second its normal... yes... no device is perfect...
with your Wifi, i had the same problem, but with my PC,
i cant connect at all!
its in the WIfi Settings,
Tweak with your router settings, restart the router first before all...
If you're using 4.2 or 4.2.1, the reboot is a known issue on Google's end, and I'd consider myself lucky to only have it once a month.
If rooted, you can delete bugmailer.sh from system/bin to stop the bug reports.

[Q] WiFi Tether Causes a BSOD in Laptop Using Intel WiFi Hardware

On a rooted Nexus 4 using stock 4.2.2, if I enable Wifi tether then connect my laptop (a Lenovo T520 using Centrino Advanced-N 6205 hardware with driver v15.3.1.2) I get a BSOD within seconds. I am using the stock tether app.
I read elsewhere that I am not the only one with this problem, but Intel refuses to acknowledge it. I even waited for an updated Wifi driver to come out, which I installed today, but the problem persists. According to this thread, the workaround is to set the Local IP to 192.168.1.100 instead of 192.168.1.1 and the DHCP starting IP to 192.168.1.101 instead of 192.168.1.10. But since I am using the stock tethering app these settings are not available. Is there a tweak app that would allow me to do this? Or are there other workarounds to this issue?
TIA

That's a bummer! I don't know of any mods that cater for adding options to WiFi Hotspot in the stock settings. I would strongly recommend using a third party app such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
I had 3 Bluescreens in 10 minutes on Windows 7 until realized that the tethering was the problem. BUT i reverted my Intel Driver from 15.4.1.1 (23.01.2013) to 15.1.0.18 (20.02.2012) and it works now.
The laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad E130 with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 Chipset.

I'd rather change the tether app than use an outdated WiFi Driver...
Is it just me, or does this seem to happen only on Lenovo laptops. Maybe the problem is in one of the custom apps?
Also this does not happen on windows 8, only on w7
I have t520...

same here.
According to this post from INTEL commuinty (communities.intel.com/thread/33377)
only tethering between INTEL wireless and QUALCOMM S4 based mobile phones will lead to disconnection or BSOD.
including
intel wireless n1030/6300/n130/6235 ,etc
vs
Xperia Z/Nexus4/Xiaomi2 or even Lumia920 running WP8.
I'm using dell N4110 with intel n1030 , and this happens both on Win8 and Win7.
the post above also mentioned enabling FIPS encryption on windows could help, but it didn't work for me on Win8.
using older inrel driver might also help, haven't tried yet.
it seems intel wireless and qualcomm s4 is incompatible.
The issue was reported to intel half a year ago, but the problem isn't solved.
Well this sucks I am going to change my wireless card then this really is a pin in the but...

Help weird Wi-Fi Problem

Hey guys
I have my Oppo Find 5 X909 and even though I am very happy with it there is one weird problem that I'm facing. When I connected my phone to Wi-Fi it connected to the router via the Wi-Fi repeater and it worked perfectly. But then one day the repeater was turned off and i connected directly to the router and even though it showed me that it connected succesfully I couldn't do anything that required internet. For instance i tried surfing the web with my Chrome app and it showed me a DNS problem which is weird because all the other devices in the house work just fine whether they're connected directly to the router or via the repeater. I tried restarting the router and making the phone forget the settings and readding them with no results.
I checked the official Oppo Find 5 forum and found that noone else was facing with such a problem and I have no idea where to look for the answers. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with the problem.
PS: my phone is running the latest Color ROM international build but I noticed the problem also on the newest official international ROM. Also the phone is unrooted
No such problem for me. I'm on latest Color ROM as well :-/

For some reason updating the router firmware fixed the problem. Thank you for the reply nonetheless

I'm having the same problem. Also only with one AP in my network. When the problem appears, no other device can access the internet through this AP. Sometimes even my wired PCs can't get access to the network.
My workaround is to try to always connect to my other AP.
I'm on CM 10.1 Nightlies. The AP is a Linksys WAP610N

interesting WiFi problem?

Well I have ICS/CM9 freshly installed on my MB525 and TP-Link WR740N at home. When I set the wireless to 11bgn mode I can connect to it but just for a few seconds then it disconnects automatically. When I set it to wireless 11bg mode there are no problems connecting and browsing. Other thing is that only my phone fails to connect when is 11bgn, my brother's Samsung has no problems ... I installed the latest firmware for my router.
P.S. I have WiFi problems only with my router, with others there is no such problem
Try dd wrt
