New version of ADW (ADW LAUNCHER EX) looks pretty sweet

Here's an article on AndroidPolice with a 6 minute video demonstrating the new features.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/1...eleased-transitions-to-a-whole-new-dimension/
This one might finally get me to drop LauncherPro Plus!
Differences between ADW.Launcher and ADWLauncher EX
* 5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
o 3D Nexus One like application drawer
o 2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the "old one" and a new fast and smooth one
o 2 different iPhone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
* Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they’re crazy!!!
* New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
* New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
* Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
* Lots of code improvements
* More, more more to come!!
Played around with it while some features are cool it still lags. Im going to stay with launcher pro.

That's the biggest reason I switched to LPP from adw. It wasn't a problem with the features, its just not as fast and smooth as LPP.
Sent from my cm6.1 Aria using XDA App
I didn't find any lag with this new version... but I'm still sticking with LauncherPro Plus because the widget resize feature works better and because the LPP widgets are so nice.
I didn't mind paying the $3.50 for ADW just to contribute to a developer who has put so much into his work and it's all been free until now. Plus, this way I'll get automatic ADW updates and maybe eventually it will add the features I want.
Has anyone figured out how to hide app labels in the drawer? I hope he doesn't leave out that feature in this version.

What are you guys smokin? There is no posted app in this thread. I posted a link to the article on AndroidPolice... I even said I didn't mind paying for the effort of the developer, why would I then post a copy so everyone else doesn't have to?!
Unless you're talking about a post that has since been deleted... in that case, my bad! =)

Can you explain a little more? What are you looking for it to have?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Well at the bottom of the homescreen there is like a taskbar that has four apps . Gtalk, dialer, browser ,and email. I want to personalize the apps to stuff that I use more. Like market, sms, etc.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
To change the bottom dock you can download a different launcher from the market. I'd recommended Launcher Pro, or ADW. I personally recommend Launcher Pro. You can customize the homescreens and the dock itself.
Hey thanks, launcher pro did the trick! I wanted the 3d app drawer so that worked out very well!!

iphone-like grouping

hi everyone,i'm looking for a way to have an iphone like grouping for apps
hope you ' ll help me
Use golauncher, this has that functionality and is super smooth
or use tw4
Use App Organizer
Any screenshots? I.m interested in grouping apps but app organiser never was particularly nice lookingand was a separate app, not a launcher.

Why screenshots? Just download from market. Just as quick.

+1 for golauncher. Its a very nice launcher replacement and it has a back up function so rebuilding after flashing is easier.
G
Use aplications folder!!
use GO Launcher Ex. It is a good launcher app. By the way you can manager your list as like as u want.
For people recommending apps organizer, there's a different app from the same developer called Folder Organizer. I've switched over from Apps Organizer (it has an import feature that's compatible with the export one from AO).
It has more features, it's nicer, detects when a new application is installed so you can assign labels right away, among other really nifty things.
IMO, blows the ridiculous iOS folders out of the water.
Simifolder is godlike. Just my opinion

[Q] What is this and where can I get it???

Wow.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QHhFR-puEo
Why is my HD2 not this cool???
definitely interested in knowing!
...looks really amazing. Would like to try this new UI too. But didn't find any information over it, what launcher this could be.
Hope someone can enlighten us very soon
I'm guessing it's a combination of stuff, and not actually made into a rom.
For example, https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture&feature=search_result and https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nanoha.MyLockScreen_free
This 3d efffect he uses in his video you can get if you use "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper" as already posted in combination with e.g launcher pro.
in multipicture live wallpaper you have to use:
- transition type: 3D Rotation
in lauchner pro:
- preferences->homescreen settings->transition effect: Flip2
also ensure, that you have:
- preferences->Appearance settings->Disable wallpaper scrolling: unchecked
For users that want to use their device in landscape only this is a very nice combination..in portrait it looks very awful in my opinion
WOW

Haha that's 100% correct, you xda guys sure are on the ball!! ..except I used AWD EX launcher the task bar at the bottom/ swipe hiding was built into CM7, btw do you guys know how to get an "app organizer" that organizes in categories IN the actual app scrolling menu? That's the last bit of my 100% customization missing

I think the closest you'll get to actual app drawer organizing would be to sort the apps in groups on ADW launcher. It has the option to create and edit groups in the app drawer, and choose which one to view. I've never seen anything that allows you to put your apps into folders within the app drawer, which has never made sense to me since it would be so much more convenient. Thats the one thing that WM still has over Android imo.
wow, very nice that
What music player is that? It looks pretty cool.

It is a free app, could s.o. download it and share it here?

Just looks like a launcher plus some cool third party widgets and stuff. He says in the comments that its not a ROM, and that he'll post a tutorial soon. Until then, check out Regina 3D launcher... its in the android market. I'd post the link if I wasn't a noob...

Or AntTek App Manager, free.
You can natively freeze them with ICS, in your app drawer (stock TW Launcher) drag the app icon to app info, and click disable
I removed them. No need to freeze if your plan on not using them. Free up internal space.

From your app drawer, click and hold on the program you want, and it should take you to your home screen....at the top you should see "App Info". Drag the app icon onto that and it'll display the info you need.

hrmm...maybe it's because I haven't had my morning tequila shot yet but I don't see any such app info icon when I do what you're saying. I go to the app drawer, click and hold an app, it takes me to the home screen, but there's nothing anywhere that says app info.
Could this be something that's not on the ATT version of the phone?
::edit:: ok...I'm an idiot. I found it....but it's at the bottom of the screen, not at the top.
I just disabled them except for samsung account which I use for Samsung Dive.

I had to uninstall updates and then disable became an option.
Using the app info method works great if you are not rooted.
In the event you are rooted, using TB is easier. both work without any issues for all listed apps in the op.

No sir. You can do this with most of the pre-installed carrier software. I believe the option is "disable". When you see it you'll know what I mean. In fact it was the one thing that made me think that I wouldn't have to root my phone. Then I quickly got annoyed by the T-Mobile startup and shut down sounds. Can someone please tell T-Mobile to leave the standard start up and shut down sequence alone. I mean expect that from Verizon; Have you heard any of their phones start up? They're crazy obnoxious.
Great feature! You can also go to settings-applications-all and do or that way. Just uninstall updates and then you will have the disable button. Thanks for the top all.
