Maybe I'm not using the right search terms, but I can't seem to find anybody talking about this.
When you turn bluetooth back on after pairing a device (in my case, my car stereo) a popup appears asking you basically if you want to reconnect with the existing device. This is annoying. I want my phone to connect to my stereo automatically and I don't want a popup telling me about it.
I discovered an app in the market called "Bluetooth Auto Connect" which seems to have solved the first problem (reconnecting automatically), but the pop-up still appears every time.
Is this a Jelly Bean thing or a Samsung thing? Can somebody point me in the right direction for disabling the pop-up?
I have the same problem. And don't know how to disable this.
bump, this thing is annoying
Are you sure it's not connecting? Mine does the same thing but does auto connect eventually. I do however hate the pop-up with a fiery passion & can't find a setting to disable it. I want it to just connect to paired devices automatically w/o the annoying effing pop-up each time.
I had this issue as well, really irritating when connecting to my car.
The easiest solution I found is an app in the playstore called "Bluetooth Auto Connect"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect&hl=en
Thing is amazing, just run it the one time and never again. Never have to deal with that popup window and selecting what you want to reconnect to.
This "feature" is VERY annoying, I thought I was the only person who hated it. It is only helpful if you have multiple Bluetooth devices. The only workaround I have found is to enable Bluetooth on the S4 and then cut your Bluetooth device on WHILE the S4 screen is off.
The added step is annoying as well but no pop up....
Also I've noticed that if you already have Bluetooth enabled and connect your device during a live call it does not pop up.
This has resulted in me leaving Bluetooth enabled on the S4 and answering all my calls by cutting on my Bluetooth device.

It's called an idiom.... You obviously knew what it meant or you wouldn't be "splitting hairs". There's another idiom for you.

Irony: Someone butchering the English language welcoming me to it.
I'm quite well versed in the English language, thank you very much. It's people like you who bastardize it that make me concerned for our nation's future. I only wish not seeming like an idiot when you speak wasn't the 'in thing' in society. When did being intelligent and well spoken go out of fashion anyway?

Hey Ostrich Sak, how about we just agree to disagree that the use of the idioms "cut on" or "cut off" are butchering the English language and/or dooming the nation. Let's not hijack the thread or insult each other over something so insignificant to the point of the original post.
I'm sure we can both agree that civility goes a lot further than douchery towards preserving and creating harmony. And THAT is the intelligent thing to do any way you cut it.
I would also like to know if it's possible to disable popup, without root that is, I'm very happy with my i9505 usung build mg4...
On another note, it would be nice if you folk voluntaraly edit your OT posts and keep it nice and clean, (the insults and nastiness is not needed or nessassary) without needing intervention from the moderators, thank you

Far as I'm concerned he and I hashed it out like adults and reached a resolution. Nobody was insulted and nobody was nasty. Man, this new generation is WAY too sensitive and dependent on authority figures to solve perceived issues. People wonder what's wrong with society...

When my signal fades, I get a beep and then an annoying message saying the signal faded and the call was lost. Not once did I not know that the call was lost. The beep doesn't bother me, and I saw how to get rid of the sound. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of the message. I hate dismissing messages that I don't want in the first place.
Anybody know how to do this?
ive never heard of this. maybe its time to get on a network that doesnt drop calls haha
the only thing i could think of would be to check your notifications settings and see if there is one in there
when you find out let me know because it is annoying

I work in the largest brick building in the district of columbia metropolitan area (so I've been told). 15 stories, and pretty wide. I don't think any network gets through all the concrete. So of course I can't resist calling my wife as I walk from one part of the building to the other. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly which areas are safe to walk and talk, hence the lost signal.

Yes, the notification settings. I wish I thought of that. Oh, wait a minute. I did think of that. I also thought about the phone settings. And searching for it. I thought I would try that too before starting the thread.
Today I thought about searching through the registry for "phone", and came across an interesting setting: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\PhoneExt\ ShowSignalFade = dword:00000001
I thought I would switch it to zero. I just walked around my building and lost a call. I got the beeping, but no notification. I think this may be the answer.

Suggesting that I change networks is not helpful. As far as the sarcasm, I apologize for any ill feelings. I was kinda put off with network comment. In any case, I think my previous post indidcates a fix, at least in my case.
After many many frustrating days, I have narrowed down a VERY ANNOYING issue with the otherwise BEAUTIFUL S2U2.
If the device is locked for more than 5 minutes, the connection to my bluetooth headset is lost...not just lost, but my phone doesnt even bother to look for it. I have to go through discovery again. Then the process starts all over again...after 5 min...its toast.
I have tried all versions of SU2U all the way up to 1.22. On an HTC PPC6800 (Alltel) running WM 6.0 (6.1 has been delayed by Alltel's cell group)
As soon as I take the SU2U off the phone..it works like a charm.
Any thoughts (or sob stories) would be helpfull
what bluetooth headset are you using?
Hi,
You are going to get a kicking for this. It would have ben best if you had posted in the original thread and/or kept an eye on what the general consensus on posting threads is.
Forum members are trying to reduce the number of new threads posted in order to improve the search facility and to stop clutter.
As for the answer to your question, not a clue. Sorry.

In the OP's defense, have you seen how big that thread is? It is damn near impossible to get a question answered in there unless a lot of people have the same issues.

So ask in the "Questions" thread.........
Is a user supposed to post a new thread for every question because the original is a bit too large?
Either way, all S2U2 does is prevent screen taps and turns the display off, it does not interfere with the bluetooth connections.

First: What is SU2U?
Second: Do you know which program manages your bluetooth headset and which is using it? Making that difference makes your question easier. Think in terms like what program do i use to connect my bluetooth headset.
Third: Search, search and search. If that is not enough, search more. There are many threads where bluetooth and headseats are discussed. Come back with information from those threads so we do not have to give the same information over and over again. Besides that, doing your own research narrows your problem
I'm not sure if you have tried this...
in the S2U2 settings, in the Advanced: section (bottom part)
set "Dont Suspend Power" to ON.

Hi there,
I've recently had someone ask me how to resolve the following issues on the Touch HD.
End key, when set to lock the handset, isn't.
Ringtone ending too quickly, so the ringtone stops ringing, but the caller still hears ringing and the call can be answered (this is also happening on my HTC Hermes).
The other thing is, where the handset is shutting off overnight, meaning the person who owns the phone misses the alarms which were set, due to it being off.
Is there anything I can say to this person to sort these problems?
Thank you,
I think more people are inclined to answer you if you put a topic of note on your post.
"Some" doesn't really cut it does it.
As for your issues...perhaps the ring tone is set to only play once in the settings which is why it's stopping.
As for the lock...did you have S2U2 on at some point?
Remember the topic thing for next time please!!! I hate those sort of topics
Firstly, the topic is a minor issue, since I had already typed it, and it hasn't fully shown.
I'll edit it to reflect what it should've been, I'm not the typical n00b user of forums, and I do try to be fairly to the point.
Secondly, which part of "I've recently had someone ask me" do you not comprehend?
This is NOT my phone, therefore I do not know what has been done, and what hasn't been done.
The original user is someone who contacted me recently, and I'm trying to find the best way to resolve these issues.
As for the ringtone, I know on my phone its set to be continuous. Only by pure luck somehow I managed to answer my phone after its first beep this morning, half asleep, but it had beeped once from my ringtone and stopped ringing on my end.
If you can explain S2U2, that would be handy.
Thank you,
Upon reflection, do you agree it might be prudent in future to ascertain what steps have already been taken to rectify said "problem" before posting?
As for S2U2 - it's an application (there are others like it) that locks the screen of the phone - I have seen applications like this disable the default locking mechanism upon uninstallation. That was the reason for me asking - perhaps you could get your friend to check that?

S2U2 is a locking app available here: http://s2u2.ac-s2.com/
I've used it myself for a while and never had any issues. But I guess Wiggz is hinting at problems that might arise after uninstalling S2U2 (I hard-reset my device instead of uninstalling - so I have no idea) since S2U2 sorta does the same job as the standard locking using the end-key.
A hard-reset would probably fix all three issues - but I guess that isn't really an option if your friend asked you for help... :/
I'll have a look into the S2U2, and get this person to try it.
Since the handset has only recently been delivered from replacement, I can't see how a Hard Reset will work, but always worth a try.
What would you recommend with the custom ringtone issue? It happens on my hermes also, so not sure what would be causing this.

Are you sure the ringtone is of sufficient length to match the ring/pickup pattern - i.e. 30 second ringtone for 30 seconds before voicemail?
I had this problem with my alarm when I first used it.
Let me preface this post by saying that I looked around on the Nexus 4 forums for a bit and didn't find much relating to this issue, so my apologies if this has already been addressed.
A friend of mine is having an issue with his Nexus 4 "beeping" each time before he makes a phone call. I'm a S3 owner, so I don't have much advice for him regarding the problem, and I figured the experts here at XDA would be the best place to ask to see what could be causing this. Any help is sincerely appreciated. Thanks very much.
Here's his description:
"Every time I hit send to make a call, there is a hesitation and then a beep (like a call waiting beep) and then the call goes through."
Is there anything he could do/try to eliminate the pause & beep? Thanks again.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. Here's his response:
"Internet calling is set to "only use for internet calls", which is off as I understand it.
I have all sip accounts deleted.
No root, no custom ROM."
Thanks again. Much appreciated.
In that case I'm a bit lost. I wouldn't be able to claim it as a defect though because I've only run stock for like 20mins so I'm not even sure of what kind of "hidden" features it has.
Bump for any other ideas. Thanks again for the above responses.

Ha!
Does he happen to use Tasker? I've heard something about beeping before a call when using certain functions in tasker, specifically with using the "say" command.
Rooted phone running stock ROM, screen wakes up when answering calls via Bluetooth while phone is in my pocket. Either my call will get cut short because the END button gets pressed inadvertently, or it will start dialing randomly after the call has ended because the screen is still awake. I've tried to no avail to figure out how to keep the screen OFF when using the Bluetooth to answer, or when it's in my pocket.
Any ideas? This is the single biggest issue that makes me hate this phone with a passion...

I respect your expertise on this (and other) devices, but this was TOTALLY unnecessary, and uncalled for. I HAVE Googled. I HAVE Bing'd. I HAVE Dogpiled. All my searches have proved fruitless, hence the reason I posted the question. Even when I began creating this post, this site suggested similar threads, none of which provided me with an answer.
Thanks for the suggestion, all the same.

You gave no explanation of what you've tried and it seemed as though you zeroed out this device when I found easily that's not the case.
