When my signal fades, I get a beep and then an annoying message saying the signal faded and the call was lost. Not once did I not know that the call was lost. The beep doesn't bother me, and I saw how to get rid of the sound. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of the message. I hate dismissing messages that I don't want in the first place.
Anybody know how to do this?
ive never heard of this. maybe its time to get on a network that doesnt drop calls haha
the only thing i could think of would be to check your notifications settings and see if there is one in there
when you find out let me know because it is annoying

I work in the largest brick building in the district of columbia metropolitan area (so I've been told). 15 stories, and pretty wide. I don't think any network gets through all the concrete. So of course I can't resist calling my wife as I walk from one part of the building to the other. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly which areas are safe to walk and talk, hence the lost signal.

Yes, the notification settings. I wish I thought of that. Oh, wait a minute. I did think of that. I also thought about the phone settings. And searching for it. I thought I would try that too before starting the thread.
Today I thought about searching through the registry for "phone", and came across an interesting setting: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\PhoneExt\ ShowSignalFade = dword:00000001
I thought I would switch it to zero. I just walked around my building and lost a call. I got the beeping, but no notification. I think this may be the answer.
sorry i even tried to help, dude.

Suggesting that I change networks is not helpful. As far as the sarcasm, I apologize for any ill feelings. I was kinda put off with network comment. In any case, I think my previous post indidcates a fix, at least in my case.

Let me preface this post by saying that I looked around on the Nexus 4 forums for a bit and didn't find much relating to this issue, so my apologies if this has already been addressed.
A friend of mine is having an issue with his Nexus 4 "beeping" each time before he makes a phone call. I'm a S3 owner, so I don't have much advice for him regarding the problem, and I figured the experts here at XDA would be the best place to ask to see what could be causing this. Any help is sincerely appreciated. Thanks very much.
Here's his description:
"Every time I hit send to make a call, there is a hesitation and then a beep (like a call waiting beep) and then the call goes through."
Is there anything he could do/try to eliminate the pause & beep? Thanks again.

is he using the built in internet calling? i believe that does it. is he on a custom rom? i think thats a user selectable option, beep until call is connected.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. Here's his response:
"Internet calling is set to "only use for internet calls", which is off as I understand it.
I have all sip accounts deleted.
No root, no custom ROM."
Thanks again. Much appreciated.
In that case I'm a bit lost. I wouldn't be able to claim it as a defect though because I've only run stock for like 20mins so I'm not even sure of what kind of "hidden" features it has.
Bump for any other ideas. Thanks again for the above responses.

Ha!
Does he happen to use Tasker? I've heard something about beeping before a call when using certain functions in tasker, specifically with using the "say" command.
Maybe I'm not using the right search terms, but I can't seem to find anybody talking about this.
When you turn bluetooth back on after pairing a device (in my case, my car stereo) a popup appears asking you basically if you want to reconnect with the existing device. This is annoying. I want my phone to connect to my stereo automatically and I don't want a popup telling me about it.
I discovered an app in the market called "Bluetooth Auto Connect" which seems to have solved the first problem (reconnecting automatically), but the pop-up still appears every time.
Is this a Jelly Bean thing or a Samsung thing? Can somebody point me in the right direction for disabling the pop-up?
I have the same problem. And don't know how to disable this.
bump, this thing is annoying
Are you sure it's not connecting? Mine does the same thing but does auto connect eventually. I do however hate the pop-up with a fiery passion & can't find a setting to disable it. I want it to just connect to paired devices automatically w/o the annoying effing pop-up each time.
I had this issue as well, really irritating when connecting to my car.
The easiest solution I found is an app in the playstore called "Bluetooth Auto Connect"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect&hl=en
Thing is amazing, just run it the one time and never again. Never have to deal with that popup window and selecting what you want to reconnect to.
This "feature" is VERY annoying, I thought I was the only person who hated it. It is only helpful if you have multiple Bluetooth devices. The only workaround I have found is to enable Bluetooth on the S4 and then cut your Bluetooth device on WHILE the S4 screen is off.
The added step is annoying as well but no pop up....
Also I've noticed that if you already have Bluetooth enabled and connect your device during a live call it does not pop up.
This has resulted in me leaving Bluetooth enabled on the S4 and answering all my calls by cutting on my Bluetooth device.

It's called an idiom.... You obviously knew what it meant or you wouldn't be "splitting hairs". There's another idiom for you.
Welcome to the English language.

Irony: Someone butchering the English language welcoming me to it.
I'm quite well versed in the English language, thank you very much. It's people like you who bastardize it that make me concerned for our nation's future. I only wish not seeming like an idiot when you speak wasn't the 'in thing' in society. When did being intelligent and well spoken go out of fashion anyway?

Hey Ostrich Sak, how about we just agree to disagree that the use of the idioms "cut on" or "cut off" are butchering the English language and/or dooming the nation. Let's not hijack the thread or insult each other over something so insignificant to the point of the original post.
I'm sure we can both agree that civility goes a lot further than douchery towards preserving and creating harmony. And THAT is the intelligent thing to do any way you cut it.
I would also like to know if it's possible to disable popup, without root that is, I'm very happy with my i9505 usung build mg4...
On another note, it would be nice if you folk voluntaraly edit your OT posts and keep it nice and clean, (the insults and nastiness is not needed or nessassary) without needing intervention from the moderators, thank you

Far as I'm concerned he and I hashed it out like adults and reached a resolution. Nobody was insulted and nobody was nasty. Man, this new generation is WAY too sensitive and dependent on authority figures to solve perceived issues. People wonder what's wrong with society...
Edited OT post like an "adult"
Hey all, just letting you know for people that are having the hissing, crackling, popping call quality there is a fix. I am on my 3rd g2 and started threads here and numerous other forums about bad call quality. Called sprint I can't tell you how many times. For some reason, tonight, 11/26, I called again. Tech support did some digging and found a workaround for call issues the g2 us suffering. It was just given to them 11/22. Unfortunately I didn't write code down as I did it because u figured it would be a dissapointment like all their other feeble attempts to fix problem. To my surprise, IT ACTUALLY*WORKED. So all suffering, five them a call and see if it resolves your problem, and please, post back with results. Its not a reset, you don't lose anything. Its a code that gets you into the service menu, and you disable something. As simple as that. Good luck and reply back.
Could it be the fix in the general section disabling EVRC_B? Worked for me.
That's it!!!!! I just don't know the steps to help the people that are having this issue. I disabled it and its like a new phone. Is there steps posted on how to do it for people?

Hello,
I'm sorry if this was asked before, I did a quick search and did not see anything. Does anyone know how to turn off the extremely annoying vibrate upon boot up? i've tried multiple applications and solutions from Google search, and none of them worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
I agree, extremely annoying!
Here's hoping. Soooo annoying.
Just out of curiosity, why on earth do you guys boot your phone so often? Or... ever?

I was thinking the same thing.. how many times do you reboot the phone that the vibration becomes a problem?

I've been doing a lot with Xposed lately, and I like to backup with TWRP quite a bit. And I'm in college and study at the library. So yesterday I was taking a break to fool with Xposed, and I had to reboot the phone and it was so loud and a few people looked at me lol. Also just in general it aggravates the crap out of me. I much prefer a silent boot.
It is not like you need to boot your phone every couple of minutes.. it is hardly a small vibration to tell you when the phone is on.
I would politely like to ask people that are not here to help to not post here. I understand that you don't care about the boot vibration, hence why you never asked this question. Myself and at least two others do not like the boot vibration, and we are just wondering if anyone has a solution. Thank you.
Also, I can clearly see the phone is booting by the giant 'M' logo. I don't need it to also vibrate to tell me what I already know, lol.
Unfortunately it would likely require a bootloader modification, which is not something people do casually due to risk. So unless someone dives in there to change it, you're probably out of luck, sorry.

I see, that sucks! But if a bootloader modification is needed, I understand why the apps I have tried did not work.
no solution for this?
Still waiting too.
