Hello,
I'm sorry if this was asked before, I did a quick search and did not see anything. Does anyone know how to turn off the extremely annoying vibrate upon boot up? i've tried multiple applications and solutions from Google search, and none of them worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
I agree, extremely annoying!
Here's hoping. Soooo annoying.
Just out of curiosity, why on earth do you guys boot your phone so often? Or... ever?

I was thinking the same thing.. how many times do you reboot the phone that the vibration becomes a problem?

I've been doing a lot with Xposed lately, and I like to backup with TWRP quite a bit. And I'm in college and study at the library. So yesterday I was taking a break to fool with Xposed, and I had to reboot the phone and it was so loud and a few people looked at me lol. Also just in general it aggravates the crap out of me. I much prefer a silent boot.
It is not like you need to boot your phone every couple of minutes.. it is hardly a small vibration to tell you when the phone is on.
I would politely like to ask people that are not here to help to not post here. I understand that you don't care about the boot vibration, hence why you never asked this question. Myself and at least two others do not like the boot vibration, and we are just wondering if anyone has a solution. Thank you.
Also, I can clearly see the phone is booting by the giant 'M' logo. I don't need it to also vibrate to tell me what I already know, lol.
Unfortunately it would likely require a bootloader modification, which is not something people do casually due to risk. So unless someone dives in there to change it, you're probably out of luck, sorry.

I see, that sucks! But if a bootloader modification is needed, I understand why the apps I have tried did not work.
no solution for this?
Still waiting too.

Hi there,
I've recently had someone ask me how to resolve the following issues on the Touch HD.
End key, when set to lock the handset, isn't.
Ringtone ending too quickly, so the ringtone stops ringing, but the caller still hears ringing and the call can be answered (this is also happening on my HTC Hermes).
The other thing is, where the handset is shutting off overnight, meaning the person who owns the phone misses the alarms which were set, due to it being off.
Is there anything I can say to this person to sort these problems?
Thank you,
I think more people are inclined to answer you if you put a topic of note on your post.
"Some" doesn't really cut it does it.
As for your issues...perhaps the ring tone is set to only play once in the settings which is why it's stopping.
As for the lock...did you have S2U2 on at some point?
Remember the topic thing for next time please!!! I hate those sort of topics
Firstly, the topic is a minor issue, since I had already typed it, and it hasn't fully shown.
I'll edit it to reflect what it should've been, I'm not the typical n00b user of forums, and I do try to be fairly to the point.
Secondly, which part of "I've recently had someone ask me" do you not comprehend?
This is NOT my phone, therefore I do not know what has been done, and what hasn't been done.
The original user is someone who contacted me recently, and I'm trying to find the best way to resolve these issues.
As for the ringtone, I know on my phone its set to be continuous. Only by pure luck somehow I managed to answer my phone after its first beep this morning, half asleep, but it had beeped once from my ringtone and stopped ringing on my end.
If you can explain S2U2, that would be handy.
Thank you,
Upon reflection, do you agree it might be prudent in future to ascertain what steps have already been taken to rectify said "problem" before posting?
As for S2U2 - it's an application (there are others like it) that locks the screen of the phone - I have seen applications like this disable the default locking mechanism upon uninstallation. That was the reason for me asking - perhaps you could get your friend to check that?

I'm quite sure he understood what "I've recently had someone ask me" means - but you can't really expect us to help you in any way if you can't answer any follow-up questions! It's pure guessing this way!

S2U2 is a locking app available here: http://s2u2.ac-s2.com/
I've used it myself for a while and never had any issues. But I guess Wiggz is hinting at problems that might arise after uninstalling S2U2 (I hard-reset my device instead of uninstalling - so I have no idea) since S2U2 sorta does the same job as the standard locking using the end-key.
A hard-reset would probably fix all three issues - but I guess that isn't really an option if your friend asked you for help... :/
I'll have a look into the S2U2, and get this person to try it.
Since the handset has only recently been delivered from replacement, I can't see how a Hard Reset will work, but always worth a try.
What would you recommend with the custom ringtone issue? It happens on my hermes also, so not sure what would be causing this.

Are you sure the ringtone is of sufficient length to match the ring/pickup pattern - i.e. 30 second ringtone for 30 seconds before voicemail?
I had this problem with my alarm when I first used it.
When in a phone call the other persons voice comes out of the speaker on the back of the phone, not the ear speaker like it should. Speaker phone works fine. I've tried everything. Flashed multiple different roms, switched recoveries and kernals. Anyone have an ideas? could this be hardware related?
I've seen this happen on a desire, but a full wipe (w/no settings restored from TB) fixed it.
Yeah I've every wipe possible, several times. still did not do anything.
I'm having the same problem, did you ever find a solution? The phone is currently running the most recent Cyanogen 7.
no still no solution. I've posted multiple threads on different sites. I feel like I've tried absolutely everything.
Sounds like it may be a hardware issue?
yeah it seems that way. I just dont want to believe it because that would mean I was ripped off by swappa.com/the seller because they claimed everything was working perfectly.

has the phone done this the entire duration that you've owned it? or did it work normal, then start doing this randomly? to me it seems like a software issue that a full wipe would solve if possible. if that dont work then yes maybe a hardware issue, though its hard to imagine how that could be possible.
I believe it has been like this since I had it. I had to root it when I got it and I think I noticed it the first call I made. but it may not have been like this although I don't see how anything I did could have caused it. I have done everything possible. every wipe imaginable. various roms, kernels, and recoveries. Even went back to stock unrooted. and the OTA gingerbread update. nothing works.
So you did a fastboot wipe?
I stand corrected. I have not done a fastboot wipe. how do you do one?
I have not because it was a MAJOR pain in the butt to do it on my G1 with a Mac. Seems like the last resort though.
oh I see. well its makes no difference to me. ill try anything. do you know of any good guides? I'm using a PC
I did a quick search but didn't find anything good, when I have more time I'll find something and share it if you haven't already.
This might be helpful...
http://theonda.org/articles/2010/03...-performance-boost-and-some-serious-geek-cred
that had nothing about a fastboot wipe in it however I did find something. I'll let you know how it goes.
I wiped it with Flashboot but it didn't help.
yeah same here. this is extremely irritating. what is htc's policy on it? like the warranty specifics.
Not sure, they just told me to call 1-888-716-3593
oh I see. let me know what they say. cyanogen tweeted that he sent in his unlocked n1 and they replaced it because of a bad power button. so I'd imagine we have hope?
Hi,
many people still claim there isn't such a problem but there IS:
After ending a call the screen stays off and can't be turned on again. Hardwarekeys don' t do anything.
Only option: Hold the phone in bright light or take battery out -.-
I tried the most popular roms here (NAND&SD)
In WinMo everything works fine.
So here i want to show that not only i but many others suffer by this issue.
Hopefully some real CHEFS/Devs realize this.
Making tons of senseless customisations and graphics tweaks isn't enough to be a real Dev...

this really helps! But now the screen stys on all the time, must be careful not to end the call by touching the screen XD... But it's better than having a blocked phone.
But still the issue itself isn't solved ...
You could try http://www.xda-developers.com/android/proximity-sensor-re-calibrator-for-desire-hd/ this?
yes tried this already before, thanks, but didn't work.
I know this problem sounds weird to those who don't have this issue but it's real (i'm not crazy XD) The hardware is also working correctly as on WinMo everythiong's fine
I'm been having this problem since my first rom. I actually thought it was just my phone. It drives me crazy, as I found that plugging it in gets the screen to return. Very annoying!

Hi,
This problem has been going months now. And it's getting worse. Before, it was just happening when I open games that use Internet connections. However, this time, even if it's just opening the lock screen the distortion problem appears. Any help, please?

It could be a number of things. Have you tried flashing new firmware or a custom ROM to see if it persists? Does it jump while it is booting up? Your digitizer could be going foul whilst displaying in some spectra. I had a similar problem myself on an HTC Rezound and it turns out the presence of Nova Launcher was the problem...
Take a screenshot and put it on your computer. If it looks fine, you have bad hardware, more than likely.

Im using stock rom. Updated my OS via OTA. Does not jump while the boot screen is loading. I'm using Nova Launcher too. I'll try to remove Nova and see what will happen.
Anyway, this are what my screen looks like after taking a screenshot. I took this after I recorded the videos.

I really think this has not happen to any Nexus 7 users before. Tried to look for other pictures or videos all over the web, but I couldn't find anything. Okay, I will. Wait for a sec.
EDIT: One thing I also notice is that this only happens when I'm using WIFI, Mobile Data, or when any app tries to access the web PLUS when the device is starting to heat up.
Nothing is happening right now. My device seems normal. Will upload a raw screenshot when something happens. I'll message you too. Thanks for this! Will try to remove Nova and see what will happen.

Ah, for now it seems like a hardware issue. If you don't mind, whenever you have the chance, can you try using another ROM? Graphical artifacts that don't show up in the OS are usually signs of bad hardware, though...
If that's too much of a stretch to do, can I ask a couple more questions/favors?

Sorry for the late reply. There was a power outage in my place, and it took hours to get the power back. Sure, I am willing to answer your questions or do any favor, as long as it will help my device.
For flashing a new ROM, well I really don't know how to flash a ROM. Plus, the instructions here are only for Windows 7. I am Windows 8 user.

Oh man. The outage isn't your fault in the slightest so it's okay.
Earlier you specified it happens when the tablet heats up? Maybe when it acts up, try finding a way to quickly cool it off to see if the interference stops. This issue can certainly also be caused by any underlying interference. If the tablet gets hot, try holding power until the system reboots to check if the Google screen or the boot animation jump (I'm assuming they don't?) and we'll see what happens.
And in terms of bootloader unlock and all that stuff, I thought WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit was compatible with 8? There are definitely drivers for the N7 so if toolkit fails, I can walk you through the alternate route to unlock manually.

Hmmm. I'll try it by tomorrow (It's 2 AM here. Hehe). I'll try to make the device "heat up" and restart it. I haven't tried investigating if the boot animation jumps when this distortion thing happens, so, again, I'll do it tomorrow.
I tried manually updating my Gnex before thru efran's manual tutorial (on a Windows 7), so I am okay with manual unlocking the bootloader, and trying another ROM. Just tell me the steps via Windows 8, please.

This procedure should be sufficient for driver setup. I used this but you'll need adb 1.0.31 to communicate with your device.

Okay got it! Will provide feedback after.
Hey, I have The Samsung Galaxy S5 for a year and a half now. For about the past 9 months, the phone would trigger random reboots but they wouldn't be a full reboot. What I mean by this is that the phone would not ask me for my SIM card pin as it would do whenever I'd restart or reboot the phone manually. Also when I boot it into recovery mode, a dead droid icon comes up right before showing up the recovery mode screen.
I have tried the following:
Clearing cache
Factory Formatting
Reflashing OS/ROM
Running Safe Mode
Running the phone clean
Running without SD card
And running without SD card and clean
This is really annoying and a reply and possible help would be really helpful.
P.s. I have tried going to my operator and the phone was sent away and 'repaired' but this problem is still persistent.
Hello Dude!
In my opinion this sounds like a hardware, not a software problem. Does your CPU/GPU heat up often/fast? This could happen an overload and than your phone reboots. Furthermore, did you overclocked your phone in any way? I got the same problem after doing that. More possible reasons I can't imagine.
If you have some questions, ask me

Hey, I actually don't really overclock phones which I use (I only do it with ones that are a spare and something to mess around with. Also no it doesn't tend to heat up on me at all actually. It restarted 3 times in space of 30 minutes this morning by simply watching youtube. The resets are random and can happen at any state of the phone.
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

Ohh okay. Anyways I think that this is a hardwareproblem. I am sure that your problem is very rarely as well.
I think only Samsung or a new phone will solve this problem.
Good Luck!
