Hi All,
I've recently realized that none of my notifications will cause my EVO to vibrate.
I rooted my phone using unrevoked about 4 months ago, and up until about a month ago everything was working fine, when the vibration notifications suddenly stopped.
I have tried checking all settings (which are set correctly), downloading the Sound Manager application, and most recently (today), flashing to the Fresh 4.1 ROM, all to no avail.
I have also attempted (unsuccessfully) flashing back to the original EVO ROM (3.2 i think), after setting S-chip back to "On", but was receiving an error message stating that the main version I was trying to flash is older than the current one.
Attempts to revert back to factory defaults also did not correct this problem.
I have been searching different sites for about 3 days now hoping to find some information on how to correct this or perhaps someone who has has a similair issue.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Dude, you're begging to be banned already. don't post in a title that rooting caused your vibration to fail. It has NOTHING to do with rooting. its a hardware failure. If you have a warranty, then unroot your phone and revert it back to normal. then send your phone in to be replaced. btw, what are you 12?
EDIT, THROUGH ALL YOUR RESEARCH YOU COULDN'T FIND ANYONE ELSE WITH YOUR ISSUE. LMAO. take that back you're 5 years old. lmao btw, if you have a question. go post in the questions part of the forum.
Thanks for the reply.
No, I am not begging to get banned, and I am obviously not 5 years old. THE IRONY OF SOMEONE TYPING IN CAPS INFERRING SOMEONE ELSE'S IMMATURITY IS AMUSING, BTW.
To clarify, I have been searching for someone who has had the issue and could also assist me with correcting it. As I mentioned, the corrective approaches that I have found up to this point have not worked.
I appreciate the fact that you believe this may be a hardware issue, so I am certainly interested in finding out how to successfully unroot the phone, as I mentioned in my post, I have had several issues when trying to do this.
This post does, however, belong in the questions forum, which I had mistakenly navigated from, so +1 to you.
Hi,
Am considering giving my N7 to my family member (since just got N10) and wanted to factory data reset it to "clear out" my stuff. The N7 has received the latest 4.2 JellyBean OTA update, and I wonder if I reset it using settings>reset, if it the latest 4.2 update will remain or the OS will revert back to the 4.1 that came with the N7? My concern, if the 4.2 update is also wiped out during the reset, is how my family member can re-install that OTA 4.2 update? Ideally the 4.2 OS will remain the same. Has anyone tried this?
Regards,
saratogacoach
OK: looks like problem solved. As suggested I re-did a search checking for reverting the OS and found postings about Android on a phone forum that seemed to say that using a factory data reset does not revert the OS or revert an updated OS to an older one.
Again, thanks for your help.
Im sorry but I dont believe you. A simple google for factory reset revert android and you will get a answer. Use that search button better next time.

Then do something about it. When you see posts like this, REPORT THEM. That is the only way mods will know about people like this who don't belong here.
I have reported his post, but the more people that do, the more likely we can be rid of him and abusive posts like this.
OP, I'm sorry you had to read that.
To answer your questions, 4.2 will remain after you do a data reset.
Thank you for your kind reply and helpful information.
Best Wishes,
cleaned the thread here some guys/gals...
Next time a clearly new user posts what you feel to believe an obvious question that you feel doesn't need answering.....simply dont answer/respond/reply in the thread and leave it be. ESP when the poster found the correct forum to post in to begin with.
Yes people need to search before posting, but it is not every other members duty to give them a hard time when they fail to do so. Either respond with help/answer, or do not respond at all.
Anybody with the official Samsung S4 Google edition root or install a custom recovery like TWRP on their device yet? I am getting mine next week and I have not seen any forums for this phone. I am on AT&T but I am thinking T-Mobile TWRP would work once it is rooted since it is unlocked boot loader?
Not sure if anybody got their phone in yet??
Thanks in advance.

But, we do have a thread, in this same forum, and we have discussed this exact thing there, please use the google thread to get answers to these questions that involve the GE rom, I stay active in that thread daily, as do others.
and xBeerdroiDx, thanks, I get 8 thanks to use a day, and you got 3 today from me. No more for you!

I will ask the question in that thread..thanks for pointing it out. Reason I didn't ask in that thread in first place is because it relates to the GE leaked rom on AT&T/CAN S4. My question is related to the actual phone from google that ships from them. I am thinking everything should be same as the TMO version as far as partitions and root methods. I will ask in that thread.
Thanks
I have had my S4 since december. I love it. I rooted it to NAE and used enable native hotspot because amazing. This was many many months ago. Now I'm getting Google play services notification that i have a system update downloaded ready to install. I tried installing it, doesn't pass, so I tell it to preserve root status. The notification comes back an day or 2 later and nothing dismisses the notification.
What's the most efficient thing for me to do? On my S2 I would install roms mods and tweaks till It was 'just right', but something was always broken and backdoor fixed and with Knox I decided to stick with simple and non - invasive, mostly for safety but it has left me lazy and ignorant. I'm capable, but warry.
1 what is the update?
2 what are my options (install an update 'this way') or (revert back to stock, install the update, then root again and hotspot) or (disable Google play services?) What else?
Thanks, I can't even find reference to the updates from sprint.
If you can't find anything about the update, you're not looking very hard. There are dozens of threads on this site regarding the NG2 update and all of your questions will be answered within.

Listen to this guy^^^
Search! And your phone won't install the update because you are rooted. If you don't know how to proceed search some more. This question has been answered.
I flashed from MK2 back to MF9 then updated to NG2 using Samsung Kies.

Not sure if you meant to be helpful or not, but I didn't know it was called ng2 and that keyword makes all the difference.
Thank you, I am now finding a lot of relevant information. If you don't want to A my Q's then maybe you clicked on the wrong forum.
In case it wasn't clear. Because of knox, I'm no longer doing the kind of tinkering I used to and staying up to date on every update, bug, mod, etc because the danger of bricking is higher and I have less time than I did 2 years ago. I wanted to read every thread about installing NG2 for casuals with rooted phones but not knowing the updates title had my searches full of irrelevant results and I couldn't identify whether any of them were useful. I'm not sorry I bothered and you should not want me to be. I'll find my way now thanks to you and if you never wanted me to, then you're a Q&A troll, and nobody cares about trolls.

Thanks, I'll look into this, I'm warry of flashing backwards because I have knox but I'm sure I'll probably read its safe and follow this route if there's no easier way to directly apply the update.
I need 2 quick yes or no questions answered.
So I got the notification for android lollipop update today. I was wondering if I updated to lollipop can i still root my phone using http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2014/09/To...54968248450075":"og.likes"}&action_ref_map=[] method of rooting? Is there a way to have the phone rooted with lolipop?
P.S. I tried searching Google n the forums first I promise. I do however get lost easily in forums n what to post where so please forgive me if I did anything wrong posting this. :-/
I'd be grateful to know too!
I just accepted the last up date a couple weeks ago and it uprooted my phone. It took alot to get root back. Will I lose it again if I get this update? Is there a way to reroot & is the update worth the trouble? Thanks so much y'all, in advance, for your help!
Please make your own thread after searching the forums and google instead of hijacking my thread with a different question to cut down on clutter n confusion. Thanks.

Are you sure the update notification you received is for lollipop? The S5 just received an update to the NK2 build last week. That update was still 4.4.4 kit Kat and not lollipop. I'd be shocked if this phone got updates this quickly back to back. If you haven't yet received the NK2 update, that is probably the notification you are receiving.
And if it is the NK2 update, it would appear you can root out using the same method for rooting NI2.
No I wasn't sure I just knew lolipop was coming out soon n didn't like what I saw. Thanks, guess I'll try it out.
