[Q] Issues With Bluetooth Range - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I bought two Galaxy S4's in Canada Toronto area last night, (one for myself one for my father). Today while testing out his blue tooth headset, i was unable to pair the headset to the phone. Finally after moving the headset within a few centimeters range it paired. At no surprise when he put on the headset to use it it was again trying to "connect" to the phone meaning it had lost its connection. Is this a hardware issue or a software issue and did anyone else experience the same problem? I know its not the headset because it worked fine on my S4 and we also tried pairing with my laptop. Once again only if his phone were moved within a centimeter or two range from the blue-tooth antenna on my laptop would it detect the device. I was going to the store we bought it to have it exchanged but I thought I would come here and ask first because he needs the headset because he drives all day for work.

Htc Hero Bluetooth Car Kit

Hello
I am trying to get my Hero to connect with my Lexus RX400h's bluetooth car-kit. I can pair the Hero with the car but it will not reconnect. Is there a way to authorize the Hero to alway reconnect without having to re-pair?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Jon
It should remember it. I've never had a problem with my own bluetooth kit.
I get paired but not connected with my thb bury kit there are lots of posts on here about bluetoth issues 5 series bmws also have problems, htc support say they are waiting for an update from google
I'll add the Range Rover Sport to the list of cars with bluetooth issues.
I can connect OK, but as soon as the phone is connected it disables the phone keypad on the car dashboard so I can't use it to access voicemail and other menus.
Worked fine with my Diamond and Touch HD
Toyota TNS 510 carkit wont work either. It pairs ok, it even pairs the A2DP system. When pairing is finished a little message appears on the phone saying there was a problem with the bluetooth handfree thingy.

What model year is your RRS ? My MY08 D3 works fine with the Hero... contact list navigation is far better than my 'old' Nokia N85. If your RRS is pre MY2008 there is an ECU update for the Bluetooth PTI I believe.
I'll add a Jaguar XF to the list. Hero will pair ok, then it will disconnect. it will disconnect a few times before it settles down. Whenever it tries to auto-connect, it will disconnect 2 or three times before it stays connected. sometimes it wont connect at all, a quick disable, then re-enable of bluetooh on the hero then gets it to connect again.
Didnt have any problems with any BlackBerry's, Touch Diamond, Nokia e52. Looks like we're waiting on Google for a fix. I wonder if their continual beta policy applies to updates as well as full blown applications?
Peugeot 407 SW ('07)- Pairing okay, connects okay too. On phone call the radio is muted, call picked up (on incoming), but the sound keeps coming through ear piece for 4-5 sec and then it eventually switches to speakers.
HTC cust support not very supportive... pointing me to go to the car manufacturer for support... :s
The Hero and/or Android does not support the bluetooth stack's remote Sim Access Profile (rSAP/SAP) required by many car kits (VAG, Lexus etc.). This might be the issue here.

Let your car do the pairing
Turn bluetooth on your phone and let your car discover and pair with the phone. Your carkit will suggest the passcode enter it in you phone and not the other way arround. That might work, It did for my Porshe.
How do you transfer bluetooth contacts??
Hi. I have my bluetooth car kit working fine, it is with a pioneer head unit. At first i would have to manually connect it, as the phone can only be made visible fo 120 seconds. Hoever after doing this 5 or 6 times, it then automatically conected every time. Just keep trying and see if it eventually does it.
Also.... How do you transfer your contacts lists to the bluetooth device?? I cannot find anyway!! please help!!
No Go on the Mazda 3
just bought a 2010 Mazda 3 sport and the bluetooth does not work with hero.
it pairs with the phone and then occasionally connects. however when you dial a number by voice or keypad the system in the car locks up completely for about 4 mins. tried other phones and works perfect.
Strange thing is it did work once for a day but then went all haywire after that.
would rooting the phone and installing a different rom open up the bluetooth any more so it can communicate better.
Dont want to get rid of the phone but unless i can find a remedy im gonna have to get a different phone.
I have Lexus ES350 2007, It's paired and auto connect with no issue! I have a tiny issue with incoming call in navi screen it display "not supported" instead of caller name!
Also it ringing in my Hero for 4 seconds then it ringing in my car?!
Thanks
Sorted
Well ive sorted th bluetooth problem.
once paired as long as i dont turn off bluetooth on the phone then it connects / reconnects just fine. if i do turn bluetooth profile off then when pairing i need to make phone visible before i get in the car and it picks it up again.
sorted.
2010 Mazda 3 and HTC Hero Bluetooth
Have the exact same problem as Wingy999 and if I leave the bluetooth switched on on the phone I have no problem.
But if I do switch it off/restart the phone, even if I make the phone visible when I get in the car, it does not connect and I have to delete and repair the phone to the car.
Can you help wingy999?
Yes/No
Well its a case of Yes it is and No it isnt.
Sometimes, for a few days i have no problems with phone. Then for no reason it decides to connect (picture of the phone on dash) but it cant communicate with the car. So when you dial it just hangs the system.
Got sick of pairing it to be honest so have left it for now. i wondering if rooting the phone might be a way forward.
yeah, no clue if rooting will help, but im def waiting for it to be possible. lots of cool things that can be done.
the bluetooth problem is to do with the android bluetooth api itself from what i understand. google haven't figured it out entirely yet and so only released it with basic functionality. even once modders are able to get inside the cdma hero, i dont think they can get at the low level bluetooth functionality and make changes. I could be wrong, but if it were the case, we'd see things like obex object transfer available on the GSM Hero's already.
I also have the same problem with my 2010 Mazda 3 and my sprint HTC hero.
I am probably going to have to return the phone. I was hoping for an update or a fix.
It is critical that the bluetooth feature works.
Another annoyance is that I cannot turn the bluetooth streaming audio. Even though the car and phone both have this feature, I do not want it on. I want to be able to turn on bluetooth for phone but not bluetooth streaming audio.
The HTC touch pro 2 (windows mobile) could turn each of the 2 bluetooth services off independently (and worked for both), the HTC Hero does not allow this (and doesn't work with the car anyway).
Huge thumbs down for an otherwise great phone.
My issue is with a Jabra SP700 Bluetooth speakerphone. My phone is paired, is detected and the phone even says 'Bluetooth Headset Connected'.
However, sound is not routed to the speakerphone, it just comes out of the phone speaker...
FYI I'm running MCR 2.8.
BMW 1 series 08 and HERO
Before I buy an HTC Hero does anyone know if it will work with my BMW 1 series

Is there a such thing as Bluetooth auto-discovery?

I want to know if there is a feature in bluetooth so that any time I bring my phone into range of the BT device, that it will automatically reconnect, without me having to push any buttons on the phone, or device. I guess this could depend on the device and/or phone, so if someone replies "yeah, this is how my X device connects to my Y phone", then that will answer my question. Of course, this is a Vibrant forum, and I do have a Vibrant phone, so all the better if someone tells me it works on Vibrants.
I am not sure what initiates the connection, but when I start my car my Bluetooth connects automatically with my vibrant.
I have a jawbone headset That I use, if my Bluetooth is enabled, it automatically pairs with it when in range. However, if my headset is in off mode, then obviously it does not do That.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Hmm... then I guess it is a function of the BT device. I am using the blueant speaker phone, and I would really like it if it just automatically connects to my phone each time I get in the car. Right now I have to press a button on the speakerphone each time I get in the car to reconnect.
I've seen weirdness with bluetooth after I've paired more then one device to the phone. T-Mobile support told me the Vibrant simply doesn't support pairing to more then one device (not just active at a time, but more then one paired at all). That sounded like bunk to me, but it sure is how my phone is acting.
I've got a PLT510 headset as well as a LiquidAux stereo adaper in the car and Plantronics 903 BackBeat Headphones. Since the LiquidAux and the 903 both give Media support and the all three devices provide "phone" support the phone seems to get real confused.
Sometimes bluetooth devices auto pair and just work, but it is not uncommon for me to have to force them into pairing mode again and search for them as if they are new devices.
I am hopeful 2.2 improves the bluetooth support.
Interesting. My Blueant speaker phone is the only device with which I have paired my Vibrant, but I have had to reboot my phone a couple of times to make it connect. I would go in my car, hit the connect button on the speaker phone and the speaker phone would report "No phone found", even though the phone was turned on and less than two feet from the speaker phone. Reboot the phone and press the connect button again and what-do-you-know, it works.
I am also hoping that 2.2 gives me some BT improvements. Voice dialing will be very nice, but I hope they fix all the other BT issues that are affecting me.

I have 2 devices paired with my vibrant. My car kit and some Motorola S9HD headphones.

They are great. I read lots of horror stories about the original red and black S9's and sweat, but I know there are an ungodly amount of Chinese knockoffs out there and I chalk it up to that. If you buy them retail I don't think you'd have any issues.
Just got my Vibrant yesterday and I was trying to pair it with my Jawbone 1 headset but it's not being recognized by the phone, I've turned them on and off several times but nothing seems to work.
It was working perfectly on my G1 as of yesterday so I know the headset works.
Any suggestions?

[Q] Problem with dual Bluetooth audio devices

I have a Jabra Freeway in my car and Plantronics M165 in my ear. My iPhone would work with both devices at the same time. Even with the M165 on, the iPhone would connect to the Freeway when I got in the car. When the phone rang, it rang both devices and I could answer either one.
Now I’ve got the Note 3 and it seems that it will only connect to one or the other. Both devices work fine. Just not at the same time. If I get in the car with the M165 on, the Freeway just says “disconnected” repeatedly until I turn the M165 off.
I presume this is a limitation of the Note 3 bluetooth stack but just thought I would check to be sure. I read on another forum where someone said it should work with both devices but that was all that was said. Anybody actually do this with the Note 3?
From what I have found you can have 2 Bluetooth devices connected at the same time, but not performing the same function. For example, you can have your headset bluetooth set as the active bluetooth for phone functions and your car bluetooth set as the active bluetooth for media functions. If you long press each Bluetooth device within the Bluetooth settings menu on your phone, you can choose how your phone connects via bluetooth to each device.
and that is, from what I understand, the Bluetooth limitations for Android.

That's what I figured. I'll keep my fingers crossed that KitKat updates will remedy this. In the meantime I guess it's a small thing to give up in exchange for the gains.

[Q] Bluetooth Pairing issues

My issue today is that my bluetooth will not pair properly and remember its configurations. My initial pairing on my phone with my car's flexsmart X3 works perfect, however when I turn off my bluetooth on the phone or turn off my car and turn it back on the phone will still see the flexsmart and it will say it is paired but I get no sound. Upon further investigating I find that in the options setting that neither the call nor music tick box is checked. If I try to tick them it will think for a few seconds and then gray out and do nothing again.
I never had a problem with my note 2 or my temp replacement evo 3d remembering these settings. All I would do with those phones was pair it once and then any time I hopped in the car I would just turn onm,y phone's bluetooth and go. Now with my note 4 I have to unpair and repair the devices each and every time which is a huge pain. Once I have initially paired the bluetooth though it will stay connected without any interruptions. Also pairing for me is really fast and only takes a minute or so. My problem is that again instead of my phone remembering the current device settings that it is paired with, it will forget to associate it with calls and data after I turn the bluetooth off and then later back on even though the phone will still remember it is paired with the car bluetooth.
I have read a little bit that this is due to samsung note 4 using a newer bluetooth standard than its predecessors. Is there anyway to circumvent this issue by maybe rolling back the bluetooth drivers or something? I even thought about creating a tasker profile to help with this but still I would have to physically press the search button on the flexsmart eachtime.
First world problems I know but it gets a tad annoying having to unpair and repair my phone each and everytime I hop in my car to go somewhere if I want to listen to my music. Any and all suggestions would be great.
Also right now I am on a sprint network rooted stock 5.0.1 if that helps any

Bluetooth turning off

I got my PH-1 in the Sprint Lease deal. (What a deal for a high end phone!) I'm generally enjoying it, but for some reason Bluetooth gets turned off all the time. I have BT trackers and a smartwatch (Gear Fit 2), so that's quite annoying. Anyone else have this issue? I've googled around, but haven't found anything.
1) Have you tried to keep Bluetooth on, but no devices connected?
2) Try keeping Bluetooth on, but only one of the devices connected.
3) Do the same as #2, but connect the other device.
Basically just try to see which device(if it is the problem) might be causing Bluetooth in your phone to turn off. I don't have smartwatch connected to my phone, but I do use couple of Bluetooth headsets and they work fine and I haven't experienced Bluetooth disconnects.
that is odd, I have not had that happen
You are not alone. Mine is doing this too. At first I thought I was hitting the quick toggle but it isn't even there to accidentally hit. I only pair my Acura stereo and Jabra Elite Sport headphones to it, nothing else. But I used both those devices with my 6P and had no issues. I'm going to post about it in their subreddit, they seem quite active there.
I also have this problem. For no apparent reason, my bluetooth would be off maybe a few times a week. Maybe once a month, I would lose pairing to all my bluetooth devices and had to re-pair them all.
