Hello
I am trying to get my Hero to connect with my Lexus RX400h's bluetooth car-kit. I can pair the Hero with the car but it will not reconnect. Is there a way to authorize the Hero to alway reconnect without having to re-pair?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Jon
It should remember it. I've never had a problem with my own bluetooth kit.
I get paired but not connected with my thb bury kit there are lots of posts on here about bluetoth issues 5 series bmws also have problems, htc support say they are waiting for an update from google
I'll add the Range Rover Sport to the list of cars with bluetooth issues.
I can connect OK, but as soon as the phone is connected it disables the phone keypad on the car dashboard so I can't use it to access voicemail and other menus.
Worked fine with my Diamond and Touch HD
Toyota TNS 510 carkit wont work either. It pairs ok, it even pairs the A2DP system. When pairing is finished a little message appears on the phone saying there was a problem with the bluetooth handfree thingy.

What model year is your RRS ? My MY08 D3 works fine with the Hero... contact list navigation is far better than my 'old' Nokia N85. If your RRS is pre MY2008 there is an ECU update for the Bluetooth PTI I believe.
I'll add a Jaguar XF to the list. Hero will pair ok, then it will disconnect. it will disconnect a few times before it settles down. Whenever it tries to auto-connect, it will disconnect 2 or three times before it stays connected. sometimes it wont connect at all, a quick disable, then re-enable of bluetooh on the hero then gets it to connect again.
Didnt have any problems with any BlackBerry's, Touch Diamond, Nokia e52. Looks like we're waiting on Google for a fix. I wonder if their continual beta policy applies to updates as well as full blown applications?
Peugeot 407 SW ('07)- Pairing okay, connects okay too. On phone call the radio is muted, call picked up (on incoming), but the sound keeps coming through ear piece for 4-5 sec and then it eventually switches to speakers.
HTC cust support not very supportive... pointing me to go to the car manufacturer for support... :s
The Hero and/or Android does not support the bluetooth stack's remote Sim Access Profile (rSAP/SAP) required by many car kits (VAG, Lexus etc.). This might be the issue here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile#SIM_Access_Profile_.28SAP.2C_SIM.29
Let your car do the pairing
Turn bluetooth on your phone and let your car discover and pair with the phone. Your carkit will suggest the passcode enter it in you phone and not the other way arround. That might work, It did for my Porshe.
How do you transfer bluetooth contacts??
Hi. I have my bluetooth car kit working fine, it is with a pioneer head unit. At first i would have to manually connect it, as the phone can only be made visible fo 120 seconds. Hoever after doing this 5 or 6 times, it then automatically conected every time. Just keep trying and see if it eventually does it.
Also.... How do you transfer your contacts lists to the bluetooth device?? I cannot find anyway!! please help!!
No Go on the Mazda 3
just bought a 2010 Mazda 3 sport and the bluetooth does not work with hero.
it pairs with the phone and then occasionally connects. however when you dial a number by voice or keypad the system in the car locks up completely for about 4 mins. tried other phones and works perfect.
Strange thing is it did work once for a day but then went all haywire after that.
would rooting the phone and installing a different rom open up the bluetooth any more so it can communicate better.
Dont want to get rid of the phone but unless i can find a remedy im gonna have to get a different phone.
I have Lexus ES350 2007, It's paired and auto connect with no issue! I have a tiny issue with incoming call in navi screen it display "not supported" instead of caller name!
Also it ringing in my Hero for 4 seconds then it ringing in my car?!
Thanks
Sorted
Well ive sorted th bluetooth problem.
once paired as long as i dont turn off bluetooth on the phone then it connects / reconnects just fine. if i do turn bluetooth profile off then when pairing i need to make phone visible before i get in the car and it picks it up again.
sorted.
2010 Mazda 3 and HTC Hero Bluetooth
Have the exact same problem as Wingy999 and if I leave the bluetooth switched on on the phone I have no problem.
But if I do switch it off/restart the phone, even if I make the phone visible when I get in the car, it does not connect and I have to delete and repair the phone to the car.
Can you help wingy999?
Yes/No
Well its a case of Yes it is and No it isnt.
Sometimes, for a few days i have no problems with phone. Then for no reason it decides to connect (picture of the phone on dash) but it cant communicate with the car. So when you dial it just hangs the system.
Got sick of pairing it to be honest so have left it for now. i wondering if rooting the phone might be a way forward.
yeah, no clue if rooting will help, but im def waiting for it to be possible. lots of cool things that can be done.
the bluetooth problem is to do with the android bluetooth api itself from what i understand. google haven't figured it out entirely yet and so only released it with basic functionality. even once modders are able to get inside the cdma hero, i dont think they can get at the low level bluetooth functionality and make changes. I could be wrong, but if it were the case, we'd see things like obex object transfer available on the GSM Hero's already.
I also have the same problem with my 2010 Mazda 3 and my sprint HTC hero.
I am probably going to have to return the phone. I was hoping for an update or a fix.
It is critical that the bluetooth feature works.
Another annoyance is that I cannot turn the bluetooth streaming audio. Even though the car and phone both have this feature, I do not want it on. I want to be able to turn on bluetooth for phone but not bluetooth streaming audio.
The HTC touch pro 2 (windows mobile) could turn each of the 2 bluetooth services off independently (and worked for both), the HTC Hero does not allow this (and doesn't work with the car anyway).
Huge thumbs down for an otherwise great phone.
My issue is with a Jabra SP700 Bluetooth speakerphone. My phone is paired, is detected and the phone even says 'Bluetooth Headset Connected'.
However, sound is not routed to the speakerphone, it just comes out of the phone speaker...
FYI I'm running MCR 2.8.
BMW 1 series 08 and HERO
Before I buy an HTC Hero does anyone know if it will work with my BMW 1 series
I am finding that sometimes my DI will not connect to a headset it is already paired with even if the device. For example, my home phone has Bluetooth built into it so that my calling my cell phone makes my home phone ring. However I generally have to manually go into Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Bluetooth settings and then manually connect to that device.
Sometimes that doesn't even work and even when I click "Scan for devices" nothing happens. I have to power off my phone and then power it back on for it to work.
It is a big pain because I will be in my car and put on my Bluetooth headset and it won't work automatically. Not fun to have to restart the phone just to get Bluetooth to work.
Any thoughts?
I've used BT headsets since the Moto V710 came to VZW.
Some phones are better than others at connecting, and the Incredible seems slightly better than the Moto Droid - or maybe about the same.
Examples (and I use a few different headsets):
I answer the phone normally and decide to switch to a headset. I power on my headset and stick it on my ear. After a few seconds I hear the "connecting" noises thru the headset and the audio switches over from phone to the headset automatically.
This is what happens most of the time. Now sometimes I do this process but nothing happens. So I then press (usually long-press, depending on the particular headset) the button on the headset to "make" it connect. Sometimes, though not very often, even this doesn't work (after trying several times) - in that case I power off the headset (not the phone!) and power it back on again and repeat.
If I turn on the headset before making a call, I have close to 100% success rate for my headset connecting normally.
This is about par for the course as far as Bluetooth goes. Some phones are better than others - and the top of the line dumb phones I've used seemed to connect a little more consistently than the various smartphones I've used.
As to your issues, if your home phone BT thing doesn't have a button to help "force" the connection, then maybe just try powering off/on BT on your phone instead of powering the phone off.
Yes i have the same problems. Not unique to the Incredible though. Just about every smartphone I've had does the same BS.
The iPhone is the only phone that worked greater than 90% of the time. Wish the Incredible was better.
Thanks for your input guys.
Coming from experiences as a long time Windows Mobile user, I never had any problems with this. I think with Windows Mobile it automatically connected to whatever Bluetooth device it had already been paired with something like 98% of the time. With this phone it is honestly 50% at the best.
I want to clarify here though that it is not just it being flakey. There is definitely something that happens with the software on the phone. How I know this is that when I have this happen and it is not connecting to any Bluetooth devices, I will go into Settings and when I press the scan for devices button, nothing at all happens. Normally it would appear to be searching.
Something is definitely happening (or not happening) and I haven't narrowed it down to figure out what it is.
I use BT headset in my truck all the time. I turn on BT before I get into the truck and turn on the headset after I am in the truck. Takes a few moments to connect.
Works every time. Only real issue is lack of hands free dialing, but if I know I will be calling someone while driving, I pre-dial the number and can with a long press on the headset redial after I am driving.
Answer the phone is not an issue.
I have the same problem.
Xlink BT gateway at home, Moto H790 headset for use in the car.
My other phones auto connect (or I get a prompt on the phone asking if I want to connect based on BT Security settings on the phone).
My HTC Incredible will sometimes auto connect, but if I disconnect the H790, it doesn't auto connect to the Xlink. If I got into Settings on the INC, and select the Xlink to connect to, the INC will tell me it failed. Same if I try to reconnect the H790.
I have to power the INC off/on.
This is unlike my other phones and Blackberries. (NOTE: I didn't try my droid with the Xlink, but it seemed to connect/disconnect/reconnect fine with my H790, unlike my INC which doesn't).

Yep, KidJoe, that does sound exactly the same. Glad to see I am not crazy. If you find a solution, post it to this thread please. I'll do the same.
Same problem here.....The MyTouch I had was 100% reliable when picking up the BT when in and out of range. I think I want a MyTouch with a 4.25 inch screen.
I have a Jabra Freeway in my car and Plantronics M165 in my ear. My iPhone would work with both devices at the same time. Even with the M165 on, the iPhone would connect to the Freeway when I got in the car. When the phone rang, it rang both devices and I could answer either one.
Now I’ve got the Note 3 and it seems that it will only connect to one or the other. Both devices work fine. Just not at the same time. If I get in the car with the M165 on, the Freeway just says “disconnected” repeatedly until I turn the M165 off.
I presume this is a limitation of the Note 3 bluetooth stack but just thought I would check to be sure. I read on another forum where someone said it should work with both devices but that was all that was said. Anybody actually do this with the Note 3?
From what I have found you can have 2 Bluetooth devices connected at the same time, but not performing the same function. For example, you can have your headset bluetooth set as the active bluetooth for phone functions and your car bluetooth set as the active bluetooth for media functions. If you long press each Bluetooth device within the Bluetooth settings menu on your phone, you can choose how your phone connects via bluetooth to each device.
and that is, from what I understand, the Bluetooth limitations for Android.

That's what I figured. I'll keep my fingers crossed that KitKat updates will remedy this. In the meantime I guess it's a small thing to give up in exchange for the gains.
Hi all
I'm having this strange (but really frustrating) Bluetooth bug on my Motorola Moto X Style (XT1572) with Android 6.0. I already tried restoring the Phone to factory settings and without any extra apps but the issue persists. It just suddenly started happening (about a month ago).
Nothing has changed in the bluetooth devices that I use with my Phone. I connect my car using Bluetooth and if I'm not in my car, I use a Bluetooth hands free kit to make and receive my Phone calls.
About a month ago my bluetooth started acting weird. When I'm in my car and want to make a Phone call, it starts the call on my Phone but then my car says that something went wrong and the call couldn't be initiated, although the call is continued on my phone. I do receive my text messages on my car and can also sent them but I'm unable to make/receive Phone calls.
When I receive Phone calls, they don't come up on my cars media. However, my Phone says its using Bluetooth for the call and the bluetooth connection is up. When I'm having this issue, I can not disconnect the Bluetooth connection with my car on my phone. It refuses to disconnect and I can not switch to any other Bluetooth device. The same goes when I'm having the issue while connected to my other Bluetooth hands free kit. In the advanced bluetooth settings of the bluetooth connection on my Phone, I also noticed that when the issue occurs all Bluetooth functionality is checked (eg. 'Media audio'), except 'Phone audio'. 'Phone audio' is not checked and it refuses to check it (however it's not greyed out). When I tap on 'Phone audio' in order to enable it, you see it getting checked for like a few microseconds and then it instantly gets unchecked again.
The only remedy I found is to power off and start my Phone again. Very frustrating if you want to make a quick Phone call and that you have to wait 5 minutes each time or if someone is trying to reach you but they can't hear you and they keep calling back while you try to press the power off button and drive your car . Why do I even have Bluetooth .
I've noticed that when I keep my Phone powered on at night and let it charge, the issue is present. If I recharge my Phone while it's powered of, pull out the power plug and then power on the Phone, there is no issue.
It seems to me that it has something to do with the update process...
Any idea how I can solve this issue?
Previously I did had other bluetooth issues like sudden switches between the phone's speaker and the bluetooth hands free (without any clear reason), it would just switch the bluetooth audio off and on again. So imagine, I'm calling someone with my hands free kit and suddenly the sound is gone. I grab my Phone and hear the other person talking, I continue the conversation using my phone's sound, then the sound is gone again and I need to continue with my handsfree. Other times when the phone said it was using bluetooth audio, it actually wasn't and I had to select 'Phone speaker' and then bluetooth audio again to get audio via bluetooth.
I don't think it has got anything to do with my car's bluetooth or my handsfree because the handsfree works flawlessly with my laptop and the car's bluetooth also works perfect with my partners Phone.
I have the same problem as you and i've never found a solution someone could help us please
Anyone?

So basically since the December security update that was released in February? Yeah, we know... some people seems to have issues with Bluetooth since then, but some people don't, not sure exactly why. In the Lenovo support forums there is even some mention of Bluetooth issues (although they come short of admitting there is a problem) on the latest update.
If a factory reset doesn't cure it, then you just have to wait... we don't have the factory firmware images for the latest release to reflash and downgrading is a questionable solution at best. Hopefully the factory images become available or the Nougat update actually gets released and one of those fixes it.
Sorry, that's the best I have for you... which is basically nothing.
I got my PH-1 in the Sprint Lease deal. (What a deal for a high end phone!) I'm generally enjoying it, but for some reason Bluetooth gets turned off all the time. I have BT trackers and a smartwatch (Gear Fit 2), so that's quite annoying. Anyone else have this issue? I've googled around, but haven't found anything.
1) Have you tried to keep Bluetooth on, but no devices connected?
2) Try keeping Bluetooth on, but only one of the devices connected.
3) Do the same as #2, but connect the other device.
Basically just try to see which device(if it is the problem) might be causing Bluetooth in your phone to turn off. I don't have smartwatch connected to my phone, but I do use couple of Bluetooth headsets and they work fine and I haven't experienced Bluetooth disconnects.
that is odd, I have not had that happen
You are not alone. Mine is doing this too. At first I thought I was hitting the quick toggle but it isn't even there to accidentally hit. I only pair my Acura stereo and Jabra Elite Sport headphones to it, nothing else. But I used both those devices with my 6P and had no issues. I'm going to post about it in their subreddit, they seem quite active there.
I also have this problem. For no apparent reason, my bluetooth would be off maybe a few times a week. Maybe once a month, I would lose pairing to all my bluetooth devices and had to re-pair them all.
