I successfully paired my AT&T Galaxy S4 to my 64-bit Win7 laptop using the "Add a Device" button under Start -> Devices and Printers.
Now, in Device Manager, I have three devices with a yellow bang that appear as "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" under "Other devices."
I have seen in other threads that I should manually update the driver for these devices to the Microsoft Standard Serial over Bluetooth link driver that is part of the Windows Mobile Device Center application.
I'm just a little skeptical... does the S4 really have three serial-over-bluetooth links? And if so, now I'm curious... what do these links represent?
I am also having the same issue. I just updated the BT stack on the Dell with the same result. Under the Device Functions: two of the list are Bluetooth Peripheral Device / Other devices
The rest in the list are:
Bluetooth A2DP Source
Bluetooth AV Remote Control Target
Bluetooth Handsfree Audio Gateway
Bluetooth Message Access Profile Server
Bluetooth OPP
Shoot me
I spent over an hour with Samsung support. I finally got them to provide the following:
Bluetooth® Profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, GAVDP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, OBEX, OPP, PAN, PBAP, SPP; NFC; Wi-Fi®; Wi-Fi® Hotspot; MHL support.
"Some of the profiles are related to car stereos and headsets by which windows may not be detecting all the profiles." - This is what is erroring out in Windows.
She could not give me the specific ones but it is two of the underlining profiles listed. I have spent way too much time to get nowhere.
Has anyone made any progress with this? I attempted the "Standard Serial over Bluetooth link" driver, with no luck.
Broadcom
Hi,
I had troubles installing my S4 on windows 7 using windows drivers.
I uninstalled all Bluetooth software then cleared device driver build-up with USB Deview.
I then installed Broadcom Device Drivers, and re-paired my phone with only one S4 BT device not installed.
These are all the S4 BT devices I got installed okay:
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio
Bluetooth L2CAP Interface
Bluetooth Remote Control
GATT Protocol
GAP Protocol
Bluetooth Headset AG
Bluetooth Hands-free AG
Bluetooth AV Remote-Control Target
Bluetooth AV Source
Bluetooth Network Access
Bluetooth Personal Area Network User (PANU)
Bluetooth OPP
Bluetooth Message Access
I hope this helps
S4 BT FTP Working
Hi again,
I've found that I can get the last uninstalled BT service mentioned above installed by using Bluetooth File Transfer -- namely the FTP service.
With BT turned off, using the BFT Widget: I activated "Bluetooth File Receiving Service (OPP) Port 12" and then the "Bluetooth File Sharing Service (FTP) Port 30", and then I turned BT on and re-paired with Windows. All BT services found on my S4 were installed.
My S4 appeared in Windows Explorer as a system folder under My Computer--with full upload/download capabilities--just as if I had connected via USB cable, though only the internal memory was available, not the SD card.
I hope this helps more so

I am trying to setup my 8125 to syn with my PC. PC has a 1.1 dongle. When I pair to the pC only services I get are serial port and audio gateway. I am using sumiter2.3AKU Rom.
anyone? PPlease
Just a general plug for a website. If you ever want to check specs on a phone use www.phonescoop.com. According to them the 8125 has: Supported Profiles: HSP, HFP, DUN, OPP, HID, A2DP, AVRC
version 2.0. The serial profile is what will be used to make the connection between your phone and activesync.
When I connected them my Phone only showed Audio Gateway and serial link....while my pc showed networking and audio gateway. I have double checked and my OBEX file transfer is enabled on my phone but not registering with my computer. This Bluetooth dongle has worked awesome with all my other devices for file transfers. any ideas?
Are you trying to use activesync for the transfers or your bluetooth client?
Bluetooth Client
I'm not sure what Bluetooth stack you are using on your PC. I have the Widcomm stack (not sure what version). I have the OBEX profile and it shows up under the bt client software. However, I can only use the business card exchange and not a true file exchange. When I was using an older version of activesync I would initiate transfers to the device using bluetooth (push), but never tried a pull exchange. Is there something specific you are trying to accomplish? It is generally much easier and faster to use the mini SD or a USB method of exchanging files between two devices. BT is just dreadedly slow IMHO. I mostly use BT for A2DP and DUN.
I have the same problem, its not a problem in the PC stack, is the 8125 BT stack fault, lack of file bluetooth transfer OBEX, just imagine take the phone to another PC without activesync and you cant transfer files PC-8125, thats is the problem, i can do that with my rzr.
Maybe a BT stack upgrade?
Hi guys,
I'd like to use my laptops speakers and microphone as a 'bluetooth headset / handsfree device' so I can talk without having the phone in my hand.
Is this possible to do ?
I am using the Soliel 2.3 bluetooth stack with a Broadcom USB BT dongle which does appear to show 'bluetooth headset' as a service but my Wizard only shows 'serial port' as being an available service.
I'm currently using the NBD 8.0 rom..
Any suggestions appreciated!
does nobody know, or is this just not possible ?
I do think it's possible...
Hey,
i am using Jaguar's 3.1 and when i set up all my BT connections i saw the following in my list of connections to my PC: Serial, dial up net and headset. just for kicks cause i've been down about my rom project not turning out so good i messed with it and it works...somewhat. i say that because it was kinda choppy but that might have been 'cause i had both phones in the same room.
I am trying to use Logictech Bluetooth mouse.
On my Acer laptop, it has Widcom/Broadcom Bluetooth stack.
Is it possible to load Broadcom bluetooth stack, their software allows more options like using a MAC address to add a bluetooth device (Logitech requires setting up via MAC address)
Any suggestions on how to set up using existing MS bluetooth software or installing/adding another bluetooth software application?

Hi,
I'm trying to play music through speakers that are connected to my computer.
my computer has build-in BT receiver.
1. I've paired my device to my computer (WIN7)
2. The device is being shown both on computer and on phone
3. in the bluetooth device list i see the computer as "PAIRED" device with an icon of 'Computer'
4. a long press on its name i have the only option of "Unpair".
Any idea how i can stream the music throughout the computer?, on the handset paired items i have an options menu where i can choose that music would be played on.
Open the device's controls in WIN7 and choose to use the PC to listen to audio from the phone. It's a "Connect" button. That's it.
No connect in menu
Thanks for the quick reply.
In the Win7->Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Devices and Printers->
I have the "Galaxy S" device, when i right click it there is the following options:
"Modem Settings"
"Dial up networking"
"Create shortcut"
"Troubleshoot"
"Remove device"
"Properties"
the properties menu includes information regarding the driver.
I have no "Connect" option...maybe im searching in the wrong location?
Depends on your bluetooth stack. Default Windows 7 does not have a stack to stream audio to your computer. You need a Widcomm stack (which requires Broadcom chipset) or Bluesoleil (requires payment).
Bluesoleil stack is compatible with most bluetooth chipset including CSR (cambridge silicon radio), which usually don't come with any premium stack. You can try their trial software and you can enjoy the streaming up to 2MB.
You can get WIDCOMM here if you have a broadcom bluetooth chipset.
Does anyone know if this phone will support MAP for bluetooth? still looking for an android phone that will work in canada that has this bluetooth profile.
Need an android phone that fully works with sync
Same question here.
Has anyone tried this with ford sync and had text messaging work over bluetooth?
I just paired this with my Win7 x64 laptop running a Motorola BT 3.0 adapter, and I see the following services on the SGS2:
Headset Gateway
Object Push
Handsfree Gateway
BRCM Advanced Audio
AV Remote Control Target
PBAP Server
SIM Access
PnP Information
and I see an option to "Synchronize PIM Data with Phone Book Access".
