For some reason keis will sync my outlook calendar but not my contacts. Having investigated I think it was the same with my S3 but I didn’t notice. It’s only when trying to transfer my contacts I realised. Is this a jellybean issue or could something else be causing it? It acts as if it is going to sync but then nothing appears to change and then it goes onto the calendar which does update.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Just wondering if anybody can help me with a syncing problem I've been having since linking my phone to Vista (and hence Windows Mobile Device Centre). When I sync my calendar it says it cannot sync one particular appointment (which I know was a recurring one). However the appointment doesn't appear in my Outlook calendar or my phone calendar. Is there any way I can remove this "phantom" appointment and hence get everything syncing again? I have tried removing the calendar from being part of the data and then adding it again, but that didn't seem to do anything (despite all my appointments being removed).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ian

Done that, no dice - any other suggestions?
I'm sorry if there was any mention of this problem before, but I wasn't able to find it.
But what happened this afternoon was kinda troubling. I've just bought my HTC Hero, two days ago. I've synced it with outlook with 700 something contacts. And all was fine. There was some trouble with syncing, but all contacts were transferred to phone memory.
When out of a blue, this afternoon, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and all contacts simply vanished. Calendar was still intact, txts as well, all fine but the contacts.
When I came home, I tried to sync it again but it just synced two calendar notes. It synced as if all contacts were on the phone, but they were not. So I've managed to restore them by over-riding phone with PC.
Can anyone explain this? How do I know this won't happen again?
I'm using Windows 7 and Outlook 2007 as well as the latest edition of HTC Sync.
(maybe relevant, maybe not, I've managed to hopefully resolve the before mentioned troublesome connection when syncing by manually installing drivers for Windows 7)
Thank you. I hope I was clear.
Probaby an obvious one but if you go into Contacts=>Menu=>View have you accidentally unchecked the set contacts you want to show ?
I'm having the same problem, but running Windows XP w/ Outlook 2007 instead.
First time was using stock ROM. One day all my contacts disappeared (phone and google contacts). The phone contacts I retrieved by forcing HTC Sync to overwrite my phone's data with my PC's. The google contacts I retrieved by doing a factory reset and setting up my google account again.
Then I installed MCR 2.6, and again my contacts disappeared, but this time only the phone contacts (the google contacts remained).
Has anyone else experienced this?
The same problem, twice.
Both time I had this problem when I sent a message.
I think this should be a problem of the ROM-version, and I hope the next ROM will fix it.
I've been trying to figure this out forever.
Every once in a while my phone contacts will vanish, but the Google contacts always remain.
I've tried turning off synchronization for Google contacts and it seems that my phone contacts have stopped vanishing for now. Has anyone faced a similar situation?
Simply migrate you contacts to google. Its very easy. Quite why anyone struggles with Outlook on Android is a mystery. I was Outlook mad pre the Hero, now everything is migrated to googlemail/google calendar/google contacts.
No USB connecting nonsense for updates, all over the air, 2 way sync. Much better than outlook ever was.
I am having problem trying to sync my outlook contacts and calender. Used to work fine. but today i got the following error "execution privilege prevents you from accessing outlook"
anyone can help me out?
Same issue. Make sure you have the latest update for kies, I have just had the one update for kies about a week ago, it was a large update and now the phone connects without any issues, be it connected as a mass storage device or as a kies connection.
I did eventually vcard all my contacts to my gmail account to keep them all updated and in sync with the phone.
I also imported my outlook calendar to google calendar and to keep outlook synced with any changes, be it to your google calendar or outlook calendar, there's a google sync program you can install.
P.s. I use windows vista
Hope it helps.
Hi, all.
The manual for Vibrant, beginning on Page 120, talks about using Samsung Kies to sync files between the PC and Vibrant. I downloaded Kies version 1.5.1.10071_32 through samsungapps.com. Installed no problem on my 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate OS. I've got 32-bit Outlook 2010 installed.
I enabled the USB connection through Kies on my phone. Drivers installed no problem when the phone was connected through USB.
First time using Kies, contacts sync'd up just fine. Calendar, not so much. Nothing sync'd.
Subsequent attempts to connect the phone sometimes hangs Kies. When the connection is successful, and I attempt to sync, my entire calendar will be imported into Kies, but only a few of the appointments get into the phone. Sometimes no appointments get into the phone. There's no rhyme or reason to what makes it, what doesn't, and it varies from attempt to attempt.
I live and die by Outlook, and trying to make the move to Gmail won't work for me.
Let me add something here. I don't like clouds. Clouds conjure up visions of rain, darkness, thunder and lightning, wind, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes. Scary stuff. That's why I'm not too big on using Gmail to sync the phone. It also doesn't work real well when the rest of the business world relies on Outlook. For the time being, I've exported my contacts and calendar to CSV DOS files, then uploaded them to Gmail. This is what I have to do everytime I want to update my phone, and it's a pain in the butt.
Even though my US Vibrant manual says to use Kies to sync the phone, the Samsung Apps website makes no indication of any support for US phones, and says my country is not supported by the site. Of the phones listed for other countries (including Canada and the United Kingdom), the Galaxy S is not listed.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any third party apps that work well?
Thanks in advance for all comments and suggestions.
I am assuming you're using Outlook without an Exchange server? This phone syncs just fine if you have an Exchange server.

Right. No Exchange server.
One other thing.
The initial contacts sync works great, subsequent contacts sync hangs at 35%, forced close, then a re-sync destroys the contact list.
I have the same problem. Coming from an Iphone this is the only downside I found with Android.
My Iphone was able to sync outlook (contacts, calendar and notes) + my internet favorites.
Now I use
- KIES for sync my contacts
- google sync to sync my calendar
I didn't found a way to sync my notes or my IE favorites
Still searching
Otherwise there is some third party soft like CompanionLink but they cost $$
Another option for you if you use GMail as your mail provider (via Outlook) is to use Google Calendar Sync. It will sync your Outlook Calendar with your GMail Calendar, which would then automatically Sync with your Android device. That's how I've been doing it since I've had my G1 and it's worked great...no need to plug in and sync anything.

Google Calendar Sync does not yet work with Outlook 2010.

I've been doing the same thing for over a year via OutLook. I just set it up at work as a Scheduled Task and it runs 30minutes before I go home. Keeps the IT guys off my back if they happen to look at my Task Bar and see thing odd running.
TouchDown
I am testing out a trial version of Exchange TouchDown by NitroDesk.
I am not able to post the link but you can google it.
It syncs email, contact, calendar and tasks via USB for stand alone Outlook as well as OTA sync to your Exchange mailbox. Give it a try and let us know how it worked out for you.
I have a different issue... Outlook 2003. I start out with all contacts LAST NAME, FIRST NAME. I sync and all of my contacts last and first names are now transposed in my PC. Now they show FIRST NAME, LAST NAME. It isn't just a function of 'sorting' for when I click on a contact on my PC, the contact's first and last names have actually swapped.
Anybody else experiencing this or have any suggestions? I really like this phone but the absolute lack of being able to update contacts via USB sync (do not like the cloud idea AT all either) is making me think about returning it. Thanks!
Hi All,
Both my Nokia 6s' have stopped copying / syncing Contacts from Outlook for Android into the phones Android Contacts App.
Up until a week ago all my Contacts in Outlook were also found / sync'd in Android Contacts but some reason this abruptly stopped. I can see all my Contacts in the Outlook App, but I also see that the Outlook account is not found in Android Contacts and it does not let me add a new (Outlook) account. Also, the "Sync Contacts" slider in Outlook for Android is missing.
I have tried Reset Account, Delete Account, uninstall / re-install App etc. in Outlook (on both devices) but without any luck.
It is strange that this is happening on both devices. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I've never been able to get the Outlook App contacts to sync with Android contacts. However, the way I got around to do fixing this was to add another account to the stock GMAIL app on the phone with the Exchange credentials. For whatever reason, then I can get two-way syncing of contacts between my phone and Outlook. If there is a better way to do this, please post here!
Thanks
I also sync Outlook contacts by addimg my adding an Exchange Account via Settings-Accounts options, then manually configuring it.
