Browser Experience - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have played with S4 several times in store and believe this will be the one I get. Have discounted HTC One as I want a bigger screen and don't want to chance battery for 2 years. Also, it would be my third straight HTC and I want a change. Plus S4 has 4.2.2 already and I may not continue to flash roms. Been doing that for 3.5 years and getting tired of the reading needed to keep up. LG Pro just doesn't feel right to me, can't explain it. Both One and LG are great phones, but not what I want in next phone.
Questions Are:
1. What is the browsing experience for you guys. As it relates to fast pagedown scrolling as soon as site loads.
2. Page rendering as in text fitting equally on both sides of screen. I use Large on text size. The HTC One did well, but S4 didn't seem to fit large text to screen correctly. You had to scroll left and right to read all of it. This was more prevalent on XDA.
I know XDA is tough site to render on phones, I do use Tapatalk alot.
I have noticed on the HTC One it renders very well. But, sometimes did not scroll down quickly. Maybe took a couple seconds. Could have just been phone or site when I tested. They do get played with alot.
Interested in some honest, quality feedback on S4 browser. I use Chrome--like the Chrome to Phone feature. Not looking for "this phone is better than that one". We have too many of them already.
Thanks
Ken

That's the thing I miss the most is the htc one browser rendering.

I personally use the stock AOSP browser and it renders everything wonderfully. Also much smoother compared to Chrome in terms of scrolling and pinch to zoom.

Appreciate feedback guys, need to play with both browsers more. At this point S4 is my first choice.
I'm waiting for my sales rep to get two 32gb S4's in stock at store. She will call me. Don't like ordering phones--just me--

Long time HD2 user is The Note the right move

Hi there,
I am considering buying the Galaxy Note, I have had a HTC HD2 for 2 years and think this maybe the new phone for me,
I'm not worried by size as it seems in scale for me.
I have used HTC for along time and have upgraded roms etc and kept upto date!
can i have some advice? How good is this Phone and anybody else moved from a htc hd2?
thank you
I have two HTC HD2 and I have to say that it is a lovely phone. In fact, it was.
However, as usually, bigger is better and I have to say I am extremely happy with my new Note. I love huge screen, deep blacks and the stylus for taking notes.
Highly recommended!
Try searching, theres a thread for users from HD2s.
I will do, I'm really strugeling for time as having to move house to a different country and dont have time to think. going for sim free as moving from uk to geneva!
slap on wrist noted and accepted!
I had hd2 evo and evo3d. This is the best I've owned as I love the big screen. It's awesome. Can't go wrong

Well the Note has the 1.4ghz Exynos SoC which makes it THE fastest smartphone on the market and is up there with the super tablets.
If you like speed, beautiful displays that equal the i****'s display, and excellent battey life, you can go wrong with the Note.

Yea this the phone for the HD2 users, already posted in same kind of many threads it gives me pleasure to discover that most of the HD2 users have the same line of thinking in common.
I have used the HD2 for exactly two years now and its still in great shape. But I am starting to love my GNote more and more each day.
as someone on the HD2, I can tell you that the Note is my next device... thats the bottom line...
I have read about it, and got to see it locally (craigslist seller, wanted WAYY to much, but I got him to drive out so i could "decide" on it ), and its just all sorts of dead sexy.. and the 16:10 aspect ratio instead of the ****ty narrow as hell 16:9 bull****...
well... when i can afford it... ill be getting one... just not on AT&T... over my dead rotting corpse...
I've got an HD2 as well. But the Note was just too big. The size of the HD2 was where I drew the line. The Note seemed to be more of a Phablet to me, but hey...opinions are like a$$h0le$ and elbows, everybody's got one some people have 2!
I upgraded to the SGS2 last week, and love it.
I have been a HD2 user for 2 years and just now bought Note. It is awesome. Though i miss the very nice WM6.5 Sense interface

I have been using the HD2, moded it many times and love that phone. It is a quality built phone, powerful and now it has become my backup phone as I received my GNotelast Friday and am still getting things tweaked just right.
I am fairly new to Android only having played with it using SD based ROMs on my HD2.
I am now much more familiar with Android as I have spent a few hours exploring every corner of the UI and now have tweaked the GNote to increase font sizes and adjust App settings to make it easier for me to see and use, what others take for granted.
As a low vision individual, the GNote seemed like a no brainer and with the use of the following Apps I seem to have been able to get font sizes increased throughout most of the UI.
1) At first I had used "Font Size" (for rooted users) from the market which does a very good job of increasing ALL text size throughout the UI (Icon text on the home screens, in program text, settings menus, etc.) Setting "Font Size" to large vs. Extra Large seems to be the sweet spot.
2) I could not stop there as I felt there were areas where Font Size'ing to the "large" setting worked against me in some ways so I set that back to "default" size and started using adjustments within each App, GNote Messaging App,Dialer One, K-9 for my exchange mail and Opera Mobile (Which does text reflow when you pinch to zoom just like it did on the HD2) and I found that Go Launcher EX has the ability to increase icon text sizes for the home screens which seemed to work better than what Font Size did for me.
And although there are many ways available to root your GNote I found the one in the link below was the one for me as it was easy to do and apparently doesn't set a flag that would show that the phone had been rooted. By that I mean that I can unroot it with this method, should the GNote need to go back for warranty work and Samsung would be none the wiser (or so this rooting method claim).
Here is the link for the root I used:
http://www.androidnz.net/2011/11/at-your-own-risk-how-to-root-your.html
At the end of this link he also explains Titanium backup and how to use it better than any of the other articles I have read.
I love the GNote and am still adjusting to it. VLingo and voice interactions take time to get used to and are not as smooth as I would hope.
As a low vision person, the GNote is a solution that is unsurpassed by anyother.
Now if I could only find a way to stop event notifications to NOT go through the GNote speaker when I have my BT Headset on, I would be in pig heaven!
Made the leap last night
I am not coming from the HD2, but from the Evo 4G. While waiting (forever) for the galaxy nexus, I stumbled across this phone, and after a lot of research, made the leap to the Note. I haven't heard anything negative about it, other than some screen issues, so I hope I get lucky and get a good one from Newegg. I like big phones, and know I will love the size of it.
It will be a lot of firsts for me: 1st import, 1st Samsung (always had HTCs) and 1st time with AT&T. I plan to follow the advice of others here at XDA when I call AT&T and when I configure my APN to work on HSPA+
I say "go for it".
So at last mr.Claude you have joined the HD2/GNote veteran gang, congratulations and thanks for the very usefull informations.
I myself have not rooted it yet since I didnt need to,but will use the link you have posted in case I ever decided to root.
too big for me. I've got a n HP Touchpad on the way for the bigger needs.
Firesale was good to me.

Ditto.
I couldn't see anything I liked more for the last 2 years, though on reflection the SII is good.
Plus, the stylus is back!
Always annoyed me that the stylus was dropped on the HD2.
I had the HD as well.
@rahulganatra
Check out fancy widgets for a very good Sense clock/weather app.
You will need a launcher like Launcher Pro as well to resize for the note.
I have come from a HD2. Even though the display on the note has problems/software bugs, the picture is just other worldly. I cant go back to the HD2's display after seeing this.

Guys Plss Help me eiither to buy galaxy note or something else

Hi Friends,
I confused either to buy galaxy note or Iphone4s
Pls Help me. . any other new Models??
Note.
Hi good sir,
First of all, you are barking in the wrong thread..
this is the Galaxy Note N7000 thread and surely you know of all people what their answers would...
Anyway, I would give you the benefit of the doubt still on your question..
Go out to the stores and compare the 2 phones and test it for yourself.. I guess most guys here would give you a subjective answer in preferably selecting the Note over any other brand of Smartphone...
My take? this isn't really the best answer there is but.. What you perceive to be the best on your part is the answer to your question. (What are you looking for in a phone anyway?)
Don't trust my answer or for that matter, most of the answers here.. because I'm sure it would be biased to the Note itself..
Trust yourself and what your looking for on a phone and if it fits your needs and your type of lifestyle.
There are couple of websites also that you can read and compare their reviews, specs and etc on the phones your comparing to.
Again, this is a Note thread.. so the answer to most would be the same answer you will get... - NOTE
I am not sure if most answers will be yes. My wife use a note and I played with it, and try with installing new rom and kernel. I have few complaints about note:
- The position of the power/screen off is very inconvenient when you use the phone in the horizontal position. your left hand would press on the screen off button times and times again and cause screen off. Other buttons at the bottoms also cause lots of unwanted actions when you touch them accidentally.
- The CPU is very strong but the GPU does not seem to catch up. So when play game like gameloft let's golf 3 you will have lots of lags, not enjoyable anymore.
- The stock FW with stock kernel is very slow to response and lots of lags.
Some custom kernel such as FM may help improve significantly but still not perfect. I have tried also rocket rom but also got disappointed.
- you can make it works better with overclock but then it cause too much heat.
.....other problems...
If I will buy I will choose some other phone that has large screen and more clever design. I don't know but may be galaxy nexus, experia s or something.
Hope it provide information for your consideration.
ask yourself either you want an expensive gadget without many functions which are supposed to help you everyday, or an not that expensive smartphone with lots of, lots of functions.
Additionaly, even if you would not use all of Note's capabilities you should definitely go for it
Check out this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pfM5mZcuio&hd=1
srinivas07, the answer is simple : It depends on yourself and what you are looking for when buying a phone!! Do some research on Google about the phones you are looking for and you'll find reviews which will point out the positive and negative sides for each model. It will be easier for you to decide instead of asking this on a forum. Decide yourself depending on your needs...it will probably take some time to take a decision but it's more efficient...
The note is a small tablet and a phone with a stylus. Iphone is just a phone...

Gtfo, you troll. iPhone is worse in every aspect except that Androide doesn't have cloud sync, which is really weird seeing as it's google- the original cloud company.

If you have an Android phone, it does have Cloud sync, you just have to use the right apps in order to do it. Some phones don't include all the apps when you buy your phone so you'll have to download them.
Mail and contacts - Gmail app
Pictures and videos - Google+ app
Docs - GDocs app
Purchased apps - Google Play
Songs/Music - Play Music
These are a few of the apps made by Google for example.
When you get a new phone or wipe your current phone, once you re-enter your gmail email address (and download the appropriate apps if needed), just about all your data syncs back to your phone since using these apps sync your data to Google's cloud network.
To the OP:
If you would like to wait maybe a month or so, I would wait and see what the Galaxy S III has to offer. It has a bigger screen size vs an iPhone (smaller than a Note), should have a more powerful CPU/GPU combo using the latest Exynos and Mali chips than our Note among other things, although most likely you will not have the S-Pen built into it.

Does the Galaxy Note 3 have S-lag standard?

As a big Samsung smartphone fan, I was hugely disappointed with the S4. Micro stutters and lag EVERYWHERE it drove me crazy.
I was really REALLY hoping the Note 3 with the S800 powerhouse will remedy the lag, according to the many videos so far of the device it seems crazy but I can still see some micro stuttering going on. WTF Samsung!?
My Note 2 was literally lag and micro stutter free, is it too much to ask for your "Next big thing" to perform the same?
I have my fingers crossed that the final software will give a smooth buttery user experience, if not I'm jumping ship for reals.. you know what they say, fool me twice......
I am hoping the 3GB of RAM help this and eventually root happens so we can remove the bloat :fingers-crossed:
Oyeah my S4 is smooth as butter but it is running custom rom
good
See no stutters and everyone Note 2 owner I speak to says the device performs excellent.
Are you speculating it will be slow? what is the point of this thread?
"do you think it will be slow?" - you wont know until you own the device for a few days if it will fit YOUR expectations.

It's a good question actually. The SGS4 lagged with its initial release s/w. From what I've heard its improved over time but still has some lag in certain areas. The SGS4 (and now the N3) have new sensors tied to new functionality that requires the phone to always be anticipating an action. Like someone said above, 3GB of RAM should help with the additional workload. That and Samsung's had some time to refine the s/w that was first launched in April. The SGS3 had issues that were fixed in the N2 so I'd expect/hope history repeats itself.

It was excellent, yes. It got even better when I loaded a debloated ROM on it. Only reason I didn't leave TW altogether was I needed wi-fi calling. AOSP was by far the smoothest ROM. Ideally for those of us who don't need or want S-bloat they'd release a non Spen Note 3 equivalent GP Edition.
Running Miui on the s4 completely removes the lag. Hoping the note3 will also get Miui like the note 2 did. Touchwiz will always lag imo.

The micro stutter is still there. For me, it's very annoying because the browser suffers from it (and I spend a lot of time in the browser). I've tried both Chrome and the ASAP browsers. The latter is slightly better, but it's still there and still very annoying. I understand it's subjective and does not bother everyone the same way, but for me it completely destroys the user experience.
Here's one way to see the stutter:
1. Open theverge.com in desktop mode.
2. Hover the s-pen at the bottom of the page (results in page slowly scrolling down).
3. Observe stutters (occurs intermittently, usually when scrolling sections in the page that contain images).
4. Do the same thing to scroll up once you've reached the bottom (I.e. hover the s-pen at the top of the page to scroll slowly upwards).
5. Observe the intermittent stutters.
Very bad user experience. Inexcusable considering the hardware. I for one am very disappointed.

You recommend him get an iPhone because?.. Oh that's right it doesn't lag even with buggy websites. Sammy needs to work out some kinks with their over bloated touchwiz nonsense. I was going to give the note 3 a go. Then I heard people complaining of lag similar to the s4 (which I returned because of lag) now I've decided against buying one. I wanted that big 1080p screen so bad but I just can't deal with constant stuttering and frame lag, it drives me nuts.
I myself will be sticking to my newly purchased Gold 5s and the Nexus 5 running stock KitKat when its released.

I know a lot of people say don't use theverge.com to test the device... but what I found strange is:
The iPhone does not have ANY problems with that website, 4, 4S or 5.
The Galaxy S3 both the dual core US snap version and quad core international exynos versions, My Nexus 4 and Note 2, do not have any problems with theverge.com desktop or any other website.
The real kicker is this, my HTC One had ZERO issues with theverge.com, either in the stock browser or chrome. It flies through that website like butter. The S4 which has the same but "better binned" AB S600 chipset grinds to a halt with that website and other graphic intense websites, even XDA desktop will bring the S4 to it's knees sometimes. To level the playing field, I installed chrome on both my S4 and HTC One, theverge.com desktop version flies on the HTC but grinds to a halt on the S4 using the same chipset and same browser. So what's going on here??!
My recently acquired LG G2 is running an s800 and is an absolute monster when it comes to web browsing. Probably the fastest and smoothest web browsing I've ever encountered. I'm really hopeful that the N3 will at least be on par with it when it comes to a simple task like web browsing. Crossing my fingers, from what I've read so far I'm not holding my breath.

Your galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition experience - pro's and con's

Hello I created this thread to share each of our thoughts, opinions, and feelings about the device so far.
I'll start.
Pro's
So far I really like this device. The screen display is the best I've seen so far.
One of the best features is multi tasking. The screen size makes perfect sense for doing so compared smartphones.
The main reason I ordered this tablet is because of college. Reading articles and textbooks are great due to 1080p display and it's pixels per inch.
My magazine/flipboard is a great integration into touchwiz ui even thought it feels laggy at first.
Con's
Though this is branded as a high spec device, I did notice some minor lag which doesn't bother me to much. But for a high end device and it's asking price, it's unexceptional!
Missing certain note 3 features like nfc, usb3.0
Physical buttons personally isn't the best idea. When I use this device in portrait mode, my fingers sometimes might hit them.

Anyone want to share your impressions and experience about the device so far?
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
Pros
- SPen
- Multi Windows Feature
- Hardwarekeys
Cons
- very hot around the camera (in Potrait Mode its to warm for me, on the other side is the home button)
- lags are often (Chrome, Firefox extremly. other Browser ok but not for a tablet for this price)
Agree almost entirely with op. Hopefully custom toms get rid of lag.

I'm coming from the TF700, so I'm in heaven.
My pro's, beside not having extreme lag like my Infinity, are the screen and, also, the feel. The TF700 used to dig into my hands when I was holding it between my thumb and forefinger. This device is smoother on my fingers; when I hold the device in the same way, the device doesn't cut into my hands.
My cons are basically using Touchwiz (this is my first Sammy-d, so I have to become adjusted and figure out where to go to adjust settings and what-not. I also don't care for the physical buttons, because I'm constantly changing from portrait to landscape, and vice-verse.
But, overall...I'm very happy; I'll put up with the little things as long as I have a tablet that will do what I tell it to do, instead of waiting for an eternity.
Pros: screen is awesome. S pen seems better than original, stock video player does better job with media server
Con's: Listening to all the people who probably do not even own the device talk about lag!
I propose that you have to prove ownership of note 2014 to post a complaint about lag AND show video proof.
Oh yeah!? Well....... I say anybody NOT having lag should also prove it with video and at least two ghost apparition sightings. It IS nearing Halloween
Just to let you know the resolution is higher than 1080P.
I agree with Most of your list though

Pros:
-Display (as everyone has already mentioned).
-Design is sleek and much more comfortable and easy to handle than the previous model. I love the hard buttons and it works well with me. One issue I have heard about though is that the main menu button isn't receded so sometimes when pressure is applied to a case around that area it will wake up the tablet. As I don't have a case yet I can't confirm that this is an issue, but I believe just be running my finger over the button.
-S Pen (for the most part)
-And despite what many have said this thing is generally very fast. It's only within some applications that it gets a little laggy and I'm hoping that this will improve with software updates.
Cons:
-Mainly the software. I hate the new S Note. So much in fact, that I purchased Lecture Notes without having received my galaxy perks (which I"m still waiting on actually). Also I was a little disappointed that the air command wasn't customizable as I had heard it would be (or maybe I just haven't figured out how to do that yet). Taking screen shots with the lasso and s-button seems slower than it was in the older model, but I love that there are more options to shape the outline more cleanly.I'd also really love to be able to uninstall or disable some of the bloatware, like mymagazines. I'm sure it's a great app, but I personally have no need for it.
-There are hardly any accessories out for this baby yet. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a case.
-The back of the tablet gets a little warm, but not so warm to the point where I'd be concerned about it. I've had laptops that would get uncomfortably hot so maybe I've just been desensitized to this issue.
And the biggest problem I've had with this thing... the thing that has actually made me consider returning it is the customer service. I have not gotten my perks yet and contacted them several times only to get the run around. Each time I called back I found out that they had taken my information incorrectly and I honestly feel like they were toying with me. I spoke with one rep who seems more genuine than the others and said I should get them by Thursday so I'm holding out hope. There is no way I'll take this thing back, but if I dont' get my perks I may reach out to a friend who works for samsung in Korea. It'd be an awkward convo though cause I haven't spoken to the guy in years.... 대한민국!
May be off topic (I am not writing a review) but I think 'lag' in general on this device is unacceptable. If you're advertising a powerhouse piece of technology and it stutters in an internet browser then something is wrong. Using a different launcher to reduce 'lag' is also unacceptable as it shouldn't even be there in the first place! Hopefully new firmware irons out the kinks (I'm sure the lag isn't tablet-related as it just needs some optimization)

As someone with both the this device and an HTC one, I can say that the note certainly lags more. It's not something that's major, but it's certainly noticeable if your coming from something smoother.

I recorded a video on my crappy iphone, but i can't transfer it and i refuse to install that memory hog of crap itunes to get to it. I should be getting a note 2 in the next couple of weeks so i'll take a video then. is there anything in particular that you wanted me to do on it?
I admittedly dont' do too much on it besides browsing and taking notes. The worst I've seen the lag is when I have a webbroswer open and I'm writing in lecture notes. the writing shows up a second after i've written something and that is a bit annoying. Over all though I think people are being too critical of the lag. It's not so bad that it's keeping me from working on it (with the exception of using split screen between lecture notes and the default browser.
Besides for this tablet it's all about the s pen. if it wasn't for that i wouldn't have bothered with a tablet at all. I think smart phones are good for when you're on the move and if i'm going to sit down to watch a movie or do some gaming... well that's what i've got my laptop for. I don't live in a big city with good public transportation, but i could easily see myself just using my phone to watch a movie on a train or bus. I wouldn't bring out a tablet for that even if I owned one.
Sitting next to my rooted S3 running AOSP 4.3 it's a bit laggier. That's undeniable, IMO, and I'd argue that it's because of Samsung's bloated OS additions. It's not a device problem, I don't think.
However... I could not possibly care less. It's attractive, feels AMAZING in the hands (why is everyone complaining about the back?? I don't even want a case!!), the speakers are burly, the screen is superb, the stylus with the art apps can make stuff that looks like it was tone with a Wacom tablet, the cameras are SURPRISINGLY solid, it multi-tasks more like a PC than any tablet I've ever seen, and it's just... a joy to use.

Seems a lot of us sometimes forget the TRUE bottleneck of Android: The byte code Dalvik layer. This type of coding is not exactly multithread friendly and IMO seems amazing as good as the current passive cooled chipsets can do what they already do. Case in point, I never would have thought back in the G1 days emulators would be as efficient (MAME, PSX, PSP, N64). Then again, those apps are designed to not be multi-tasked.
IMO the issue is not as much the hardware or OE rom, but the platform itself as far as having global impact to software. iOS is not much better and ALSO lags. Such is the price of balance: Platform security (iOS andDalvik constraints), passive cooled devices, battery efficiency, etc.
Pros: Beautiful screen
feel and weight in your hand (compared to the previous version - which wasn't bad either)
S-Pen is less laggy and the finer screen allows for more precise writing/drawing
Cons: S-Note. I want the old version back.
Physical buttons. I really miss the natural "awareness" of where they are as compared to the old one where they were always at the
bottom of the screen.
Battery life isn't as nice as the first (alot more pixels to push I guess)
Lack of accessories (I'd really like a case)
Lack of root. I REALLY miss the 'add anything' multiwindow support'
I've waited a long time for a note 10.1 with this resolution but I'm considering returning it
I returned mine to BB. For a high end device and the associated high price I didn't find the performance acceptable. Hoping for this or that doesn't cut it for me. If it doesn't perform up to expectations out of the box, it goes back. I'll keep using my better performing Nexus 10 until version 2 of that device comes out.

Count me among the disappointed... I got mine on launch day, and it's slower than last year's note 10.1.
New S Note is inexplicable.
Occasionally it hangs up and is unresponsive for at least a minute. (Happened in my beloved Lecturenotes as well as others)
Try this for a demo of the lag, I use LectureNotes with double tap zoom mode... open a note, double tap to enable zooming, pinch to zoom to 200%. Now double tap again to zoom back to 100% and watch it stutter. You can keep double tapping to switch between 100% and 200% and see the terrible lag. Do the same on last year's note 10.1 to compare.
It's not good enough. I expected this to be an upgrade!
I love the display, I love the more compact form factor, and I'll get used to the new buttons eventually.

Key words: launch day. I know it's ****ty that a new device gets rolled out with imperfect software, but that's what this is. An update or two and this will be perfect. The 10.1, by the time we all upgraded, had a lot of updates to it that ironed out its issues.

You're probably right, but it's shameful that the new note is slower than the old one, launch day or not.

There's a few culprits here.
1) Software just plain isn't optimized for all the cores. Think about the tech advances from the old G1 to now. Are our devices now as much faster, proportionally speaking, as they are more powerful? Not by a long shot.
2) Was the launch day 10.1 2012 faster? I don't think. But that goes back to what I said earlier.
3) I feel like the new OS is just bloated as all hell. The device isn't slower, the burly Touchwiz is. It's like getting a brand new laptop and it takes longer to start: the PC isn't the problem, it's the new Windows.

Loving the note 4

Got it for a couple of days. I'm loving it. I came from note 3. The 4 has improved on almost every aspect from the last note except battery life which is only on par. But there's the ultra power saving mode that turns the screen to greyscale which can come in handy.
I put up with Touchwiz before. But I actually think it is rather good on the note 4. The multi window is amazing. A lot of non Google and Samsung apps can use it including whatsapp. Of course it can be better. I hope multi window becomes native to Android. I don't see lag due to Touchwiz. Maybe sd805 is so powerful it doesn't matter if Touchwiz is a hog or not. Web pages load crazy fast with chrome and the default browser. Rubbing a web page in chrome quickly with your finger, you see the page follows the finger instantly. No lag.
Good thing note 4 doesn't have magazine ux. Settings actually are laid flat now which is not as good as the old horizontal categorization. You can scroll forever to get to where you want.
Btw, the default browser now has a reader just like safari. It's the second best thing to auto text reflow. Somebody please export the default browser apk. I want to install it in all my Android devices.
Lol you're not alone. I love it as well. Love it's performance and it's looks. So classy! The way they designed the metal to harmonize with the smooth back cover is really great. Multitasking and the s-pen is even better this time around. And coming from a 720p screen, it really is a beauty to behold. Everything is super sharp and I just feel much more efficient at taking in information lol. Personally, I love touch-wiz and all the features it provide. Does help me tons at work. I look forward to the next few years with this baby!
For some reason, Samsung seemed to optimize this version of Touchwiz for the Note 4. It's almost like an extension of my mind. It's about as fluid as an iPhone, and has the adaptability to include health essential apps. And the battery life is excellent. Ever since T-Mobile made the mistake of sending me a Galaxy S2, I have been hooked on Samsung like a frantic catfish.
I just got mine today. I am coming from an S3. My first impression was awe. I also have a 2012 Note 10.1 which is very fast. However this Note 4 is freakishly fast. I did have to restart it because when I was setting up my apps, the download speeds over my FiOS connection dropped to about 130kbps d/l speeds. Now it's back up to 20Mbps where it should be.
I am a heavy reader and am greatly looking forward to using my Nook app a lot. I am also greatly looking forward to using it at work for taking meeting notes, crawling behind server racks and in general using it as the tool it was designed to be.
As mentioned by some other users, I too am a huge fan of TouchWiz. With the hardware this device is packing it runs like silk. Everything opens extremely quickly. The whole experience is just amazing. Samsung built an excellent device with this Note 4, they should be commended.

Coming from note 2 this phone is amazing. Seriously ridiculous!
FYI: you have the option of viewing setting by tab, versus a single list. In Settings, click the icon with three vertical dots, then select View As and choose your preference.

I find I like the old implementation better. Even with the tabs for this new version it just seems a little different. Also I don't know why they went with the white skin when a dark theme would have been much better for battery life. Anyway I plan to root within a few days and install a custom ROM so most of my issues should be fixed.
