that information doesnt exist from my understanding with these types of phones... u either have the internet or you dont, which u should have the internet if ur paying the data package, unless ur bill is past due and some of your services are temporarily suspended...
No, the thing is - I bought Droid X on EBay and now want to use it with different carrier (not Verizon). Phone interface doesn't have any option to exchange settings for built-in EV-DO modem (dialing number, username, password, etc). phones running Android and build by HTC have easy access to modem internet settings.
Help, plz!
I don't think you can use the x on another carrier by my understanding.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The only other carrier you *might* be able to use it on is one that uses CDMA, so not T-Mobile or AT&T

Connection Manager paradigm doesn't exist on this platform. Provisioning is done OTA when you first set up.
Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and must say I never thought there was so much suport out there for these phones. So I would like to put my problem forward for you see if you can help me.
I have bought my GT-I5800 of a freind who has just come back from north africa, he needed the money. Anyway it was originally on T mobil but he had it unlocked over here. I am on o2 and so when I put my sim card in everything worked except for the access to the internet and the GPS.
I have a P.A.Y.G. account but do have access to the web on my old phone with a cretain amount free every month of topping up.
When I phoned o2 using my new (secondhand) phone to get the setting sent by text the chap said it was not an GT-I5800 but a maxtel. The thing is that when it starts up it shows the GT logo and the screen is the same as what i've seen on the photos, the three button style. I have found inside the phone these details:-
Model no. GT-I5800
firmware 2.2
Baseband I5800XXJH1
Kernelversion 2.3.32.9 [email protected]@#1
Build no. FROYO.XXJPB
I wanted to get the web side working and GPS although it does connect to my home router wirelessly ok and phone calls +text work ok. Any help would be most welcome.
Cheers everyone. raccoon
You need to manually set your APN (Access Point Name).
1. Google 'X APN Settings android' where X is the name of your mobile network provider (eg. t-mobile) and keep that page open.
2. Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile network -> Acces point names. Press the menu key and choose new APN
3. Add settings (name, APN,...) according to your provider
4. You should now have internet connection.
GPS is something beyond my knowledge
Cheers Thom I will try that and post back asap.

Do you have the correct settings? What o2 sim do you have? Simplicity, normal payandgo, or a basic old 2g sim card? (and yh the settings change accordingly)
I have an HD2 (australian -Telstra NextG) 1.72.841.0 WWE Rom.
Works fine with the Telstra Sim and Data access is fine.
I'm setting up with an alternate sim - "Roaming Sim" (Sim with UK based number and data) so I can ease the roaming costs when I travel outside Australia.
New Sim works fine on voice calls, but there is a block when I try to access data.
The following message is displayed ...
Message ID:
FILTER_DENIED
Problem Description
Your system was configured to deny access to this URL.
Possible Problem Cause
Request denied, as specified in the local filter list configuration.
Possible Solution
Contact your network support team if this problem persists.
Data connection is fine with the Telstra Sim, but with the alternate sim and settings the above block stops any data access.
Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks
who is the sim with in the uk?
Settings -> All Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks -> Edit (if you already have the details) or New (if you don't) for the data connection for the SIM. Make sure that all the settings are correct for the new SIM (you can easily find them with a search of the internet).

The sim is marketed under the name "Roaming Sim" - for international travel - I believe it is an Irish based company, but the number is +44 prefix so a UK based number.
Their help desk was not very helpful "there is money in your account so things should work properly" and "no-one here has a HTC HD2, so we don't know what to suggest".
Thanks.

Thanks for the trail of where to change the settings - I've set the sim up as per their meager info and I've checked their web site for any info on the problem I'm having - nothing specific to assist there.
On a web search I found mention of a similar error message related to PCs and it was pointing to Proxy setting issues, but there are no Proxy Setting in Cellular Line (GPRS) setup (in setting up the APN for this sim).
I've also done a google of the exact error message in quotes and come up with no listings, hence me coming to the gurus at xda.

No I've checked that with supplier and Data is enabled with the sim.
I've contacted the Australian supplier of the sim and I'm waiting on their tech guru to phone me to try and work through the problem. I'll post if/when I get some resolution.
But don't let that stop you guys from having a go - so far the sim supplier's technical assistance has been very pleasant, but less than actually helpful at resolving the problem.

ok made sure you got the correct internet settings in the phone?
Thanks for the assistance - I have discovered the problem - it was me (obviously).
When I set up the New Network Settings I did not select Proxy settings and therefore did not check "This network connects to the internet".
If you do this (as above) then save - you can't come back to fix the error because you are not offered the Proxy Settings tab if the box wasn't checked on setup.
I've now set up a New network setting, (with Proxy- This network - checked) and I can now access data and URLs.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out, perhaps this might assist another nooby down the track.
My gf just bought phone because she was tired of her iPhone. And she got the SIM card from StraighTalk. And the number works. She can call and Text but she cant use data. She's contacted them and Verizon and they already sent another StraightTalk SIM card. And that still didn't work. And yes the Amazon link says Verizon. Imgaes of the Phone settings. Imgur. She doesn't have an APN and she can't add one. And she doesn't have an APN from Verizon either.
If anyone can help me that would be great. I don't care if i have to root the phone to fix it. I have an S4 too and rooted.
It says "access is restricted for the current user profile"
What profile is she on?
She needs to be on the main user profile in order to have full access.

@marshallcodex - Have you tried contacting the community.sprint.com forum to see if they can provide us with more details or steps to add APN?
I just received a refurbished LS993 and applied the latest security update or patch released. Dialing the code to see the hidden menu also only provided the options you shared in your screen capture.
I am behind the curve because I am not eligible to receive the MSL code yet (the LS993 isn't listed as a DSU/UICC Unlockable from Sprint's unlock site). I need to either activate the phone with a new plan for 50 days or have a family/friend activate and use the phone for 50 days then request for the MSL code. Correct me if I'm wrong and I don't have to do it that way.
Anyhow good luck, hopefully you can find your answers and lead the way for us other LS993 owners.

The only possible way to unlock the apn section is to activate a new service with them....then the phone will be re-provisioned with all necessary stuff for the phone to work well.....i suggest we have to use their service [the $45 prepaid plan]...then cancel the service after a 3 or 4 days.....then get back to our normal carrier. I have my MSL but cant add apn still
If u already hav a sprint sim...just activate the $45 plan which will $50 [taxes included] the ready to go
Just install this app from Google Play Store and you can add/edit/remove APNs settings...
