i have seen some people having problems with their pit files.... so you need to find one that fits your phone... i dont exactly know what it is.. but odin fails if the pit file is corrupted... something with partitions i guess there are a couple of threads with it... so you will have to search

No its not at a hard brick dont worry dont panic thats the best wat to work around
I would say dont use pit file unless its last option and try without that only may be in other pc using other cable some below steps myte also help u
2) Install later Kies.
3) Kill al kies applications (all 4 of them).
disable antivirus or whatever you got there.) Get to Download Mode and push Vol Up.
7) Open Odin.
8) Plug the device to your laptop.
Does it see the device?
If NO:
A) Get another usb cable, are you using ?
B) Try different Odin Versions (download 3 or 4).
C) Try another USB port.
D) Still no luck? reboot the pc and start from step 3.
---------- Post added at 08:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:23 PM ----------

Official firmware is not a wiping one. It doesnt flash userdata, it replace system, recovery, and some other partitions.

Great to hear that man
If u flash stock firmware all will remain as its in ODIN but its good if u reset the device after or b4 root
Also take a EFS backup of ur device and be safe
i had root before the device bricks... so i rootet it now again, and works good...
yeah, i will backup efs (hope this <- works...)
yah, thank you again...
have a nice day..
OK so this is what i did. so i tried to root my s4, and in odin it said fail. so i took out the battery. and try to turn it on now it has the phone YELLOW triangle and a monitor. it says "firumware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mod in kies & try again.
what i have tried so far was download the sprint stock and odin it back. i used qbking77 . com the stock i used is linked on that website. which then links me to stockroms.net. so during the process of doing going back to stock it said fail. i read some where that in the id:com on odin, it should say 0:[COM6] and i read some where else that it does have to say com6 it could say com3. i dont know if that matters. and i also read on the forum they say to use another stock rom? is that also if so where can i get one besides from stockroms.net please someone help me..
this is what it says when i try to odin to stock:

Sounds like a bad rom download. Download the rim again or get it from a sticky on xda.
Also it doesn't matter what com port Odin puts the phone on as long as it sees it.

I have read that that download fron QBKing is bad. As a poster above me said, download the rom from XDA instead and redo the process. Also, be sure to use the usb cable that came with your phone as others can cause the same issue. Also....if it fails again, try a different usb port. Good luck

Its not really a bad download, had this issue once before when I soft bricked my s4 and I needed to restore it back to stock. You need to delete the .md5 extension and leave it with the .tar extension and that should work! Good luck!

Hmm weird. Redownload the file from qbking77 and delete the extension again. Also try it with a different version of odin for example the one that qbking uses v1.85 (which is also the one I use) and pull out battery and put the battery in and manually set it to download mode and try it one more time. Btw any chance did you get a pop up in your screen saying something about an error of some kind saying about a parameter before?
Edit: Also probably restart computer just in case also.

Pretty sure you're on mk2 firmware and need these files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49687770
Thanks a bunch!
One more question, which file specifically should I be downloading from that thread?
Just making sure so I don't make any mistakes. Heh, cheers mate.

Just the all-in-one for simplicity. Instruction on how to use the file is in bottom of the post of that thread.
I have a galaxy S6 Edge which you could probably tell from the model number and I recently rooted it. After realizing that my phone was very very sluggish after the root, I decided to unroot it. I have the proper stock firmware for my device downloaded on my computer (Lollipop 5.1.1) but when I tried to flash it manually through Odin I received this error:

I was surprised to find that this flash wasn't successful because I've flashed this firmware on the phone multiple times with ease. After looking around on google for quite some time, I haven't yet found a solution witch is the reason why I am writing this post. I am not sure how to fix this error and would really appreciate some help. Thanks
This is the file I downloaded from SamMobile's website:

This is a screenshot of the Odin after running the flash:

WAY 1 : ------- VERY DANGEROUS, NOT TESTED, I'M NOT REAPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR DEVICE, I WARNED YOU.
You need to get TWRP recovery, then download the Utility from HERE and then mount everything, so that your computer can access your device and then put your Utility wherever you want. Then go to install and select the utility.zip and after the program opens then go to next > primary > wipe System and cache and data and dalvik cache... MAKE A BACKUP FIRST! and then go to ODIN mode and flash your OS...
WAY 2 ----- BETTER
Go to TWRP, wipe all data including system and go to ODIN mode and flash the OS, NOT TESTED ASWELL BUT TRY WITHOUT DELETING SYSTEM FIRST!!!
WAY 3 -------
Flash a custom ROM like CM... if you need help at it, ASK! I'll reply to you as soon as possible!
Good Luck!

Install newest odin and don't check anything in ODIN's settings, the rom will do all that stuff

Oh by the way you made way 3? You installed the custom rom? As a zip file? Like Cyanogen? And it took you back to recovery? What recovery do you have? And did you UNCHECK the signature check? IT'S VERY IMPORTANT
