9500 cannot wake up from deep sleep!!! - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello people.
I have a 9500 galaxy s4 and from day one it has an issue (I think these are two separate issues)
1. sometimes my phone reboots when launching camera app. (The thing is that it may launc hseveral times with no issue and then on try xx it will reboot )
2. Cannot wake up a phone from deep sleep (it doesn't reboot while it is hang in deep sleep but also noone can call me ) When I try to wake it up using home button or power butrton it reboots
What's wrong with it?

did you check if there is update via kies or ota??

Yes I have latest udpate installed. I even did factory reset after the update to be sure. no luck

get a fresh stock firmware from "samfirmware.com" or somewhere else then flash it using ODIN...:fingers-crossed:

I did that. Flashed latest russian firmware with no luck

Camera bug seems to be related to latest firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271227 . No clue about the deep seep issue though. ¿How about if you flash the last stable firmware?
My I9500 is on its way. I will be able to test it myself on arrival

[Q] Screen not coming out of sleep when pressing button

I'm having temporary screen freezes when I want to take out my HTC HD2 with tytung's ICS version. When I press the buttonss they light up but the screen stays black. I can still receive phone calls and connect it to a PC, where the PC recognizes the phone. Sometimes after 20-30 minutes the wakes up like normal when I press a button.
Does anyone know the cause of this and is there a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Has your screen been unresponsive lately ?
read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993787
I think your end button .. is dying?
It is not just the end button. None of the buttons give a response although they light up when I press them. Sometimes after 10 minutes or half an hour the phone is responding again.

Does this happen on every ROM? Also try flashing another kernel. It may be driver or hardware related.
It also happened with the previous ROM from Tytung. I disabled wifi for 2 days now and the problem has not occured yet. Normally it occured every day. Can it have something to do with WIFI?
i have had the same issue, and for me the only solution was to flash a new rom. if you're going to do that: try miui, i think it is very good(as soon as you've fixed all the problems with it it works perfect)
Did you try a clean install with task 29 before?
I only did the task29 the first time I started flashing a rom. After that I only changed the partition size once and updated from the zip file. What will another task29 do?
I have wifi disabled now for 4 days and haven't had the problem again. It seems that other people also have this issue, but is there no solution?

Anyone has idea will it be software or hardware issues?
Screen on can happen due to software request (for example alarm, phone call etc.) or above mentioned buttons and therefore it could be hardware (some type of short creating signal similar to the button press), so it's hard to say. You could try safe boot, factory reset and killing some apps for software related problem and dial *#0*# to test hardware, but I'm not sure if there is a particular test for those 2 buttons. There are also programs that can tell you what wakes the phone up, but since it's brand new phone you probably want to take it to the service at some point, it is not normal from what you describe.

OTA updates are designed to be installed over the current software, basically overwrite/update old files and install new ones, so that you do not have to necessarily start all other setting up ur phone and stuff. But sometimes, for some reason, something goes wrong with the software, maybe compatibility issue of some sort or so, especially when upgrading to an entirely diff base. My personally, I full wipe whenever i'm going to a new base, because a fresh start can be fun sometimes too. Neat phone

Random screen wakes when phone is locked

Roote Zuk Z1 , running COS with latest update, i have this problem: phone display wakes up by itself after i lock the phone. What could trigger these wakes? Does anyone have the same problem?

Use original theme
I had the same problem. Get back to the original theme. And every thing will go us you like
Since the posting relates to my recent post - my quick update:
I am and I always was on stock theme - after rebooting my phone the problem seems to be solved for me-
since it doesn't wake again by itself.
I think it's something app related- I haven't found the one app that causes the trouble- Now I track all the apps I open to find out.
Well, guys, it seems it solved. One day, the phone was again waking by itself. I thought it might be related to the Adaptive Brightness. I deactivated the adaptive brightness, and phone went nuts locking by itself every time i was trying to wake him. No chance to power off or acces any menu. So i connected to PC, and using Lenovo ZUK toolkit i rebooted the phone. Since then, i haven t noticed the random wakes anymore.
Random wake
1. Turnoff autobrightnes
2 Turnoff doubleTap to wake
3, Turnoff "prevent random wakes "
Profit!
The issue doesn't seem to be fixed in the latest COS I have this issue. My device is STOCK and NOT rooted. With indeed autobrightness enabled it keeps unlocking when you reboot the problem is gone. Really frustrating ..
Hard Reset did the trick

Strange thing is if it appears to happen after a few days of usage without reboot I started to play a little bit with the settings and found out it really is the option "Prevent accidental unlocking with proximity sensor". The proximity sensor works flawlessly so it's really a software bug I guess.

Hey guys. Is this related to the random reboot problem. For 20 days my phone never rebooted even once, then it started rebooting. It is still doing so after the latest OTA. Is it a hardware problem or trying solutions mentioned here solved it for someone?

i do have the same problem too!

Nexus 4 screen freezes randomly, no reaction when touching.

Hi everyone!
So I just had this problem after I woke up yesterday. I googled a lot but only found similiar problems.
Let me tell you what happened chronologically:
After turning the phone on in the morning it started updating apps as if I was doing a firmware update: "updating apps 1 of 135" etc. Note that my nexus was already running on 5.1.1 and had the latest updates installed.
Now it randomly freezes the screen on whatever screen it was before it happens and it won't respond to any touch input. This can also happen when not using the phone, then it will freeze at the lockscreen (the time freezes with it so sometimes i can see at what time it froze). Also, it loses connection with Wi-Fi as i'm using Whatsapp Desktop when i'm on my laptop and it mentions me that my phone is not connected.
The only thing that "fixes" (temporarily) it is a reboot. Now sometimes, on the lockscreen, i can just hold the power button and the pop-up comes in to turn the phone of, which i can somehow just tap on an it responds by turning the phone off. But sometimes (less frequent than the latter mentioned) the pop-up doesn't come in and holding the power button for a few secs will do the trick.
I hope I informed you all enough and my end question is: does any of you know what this is? How i can fix it or what i can do to prevent it or anything as I am hopeless. (my G3 is up for reparation so this is my sisters old phone, i had a nexus 4 myself for 2 years before the G3).
Thanks in advance!!
The best way to test it is by reformat the OS.
I positively think that it will solve the problem.
Since the phone is no longer under warranty, I guess there is no harm to install custom rom on it. They are fast and stable too.
Hope this help. Good luck.
Sent from my Nexus 4
EXACT thing happened to me too. Backup your data and hard reset from recovery. This fixed it for me
Same problem here bro, but neither custom roms or factory reset helps.... Is there anyone who has successfully solved the problem ?

Then it's time to change the screen or phone. Looks like it is a hardware issue.
