Camera Issues

I just wanted to know if you guys were getting the same issue.. My xoom is taking awfully blurry pictures, even when im standing still. Either the stabilization is horrid or my camera is messed up.
Feedback? Thanks!
I was just about to post about this as well. I'm hoping its a software issue because when taking landscape photos especially the blurryness is terrible.

It is night now so I cannot take any daytime pics but I have not noticed anything like that. Here are a couple pics I just took outside with the flash on. Look fine to me.
Yeah I didn't have a problem earlier, took this a few hours ago, completely freehand. View attachment 527589

Any particular settings? Mine don't look nearly as sharp. Does your display look blurry before hand? or is it that clear all the way through? I've noticed they look a lot better when i preview them back in the gallery than while i'm taking them. Ugh. I feel like i've run into this problem before... oh yeah, my droid x..

The display looks somewhat pixelated but the actual photo looks much better.
In order to not take away from this thread and to keep things organized I am starting a Camera comparison thread seperately
Mine too, but i'm using captivate
I just upgraded to serendipity's latest rom (6.3, 2.2.1) and all of a sudden, my photos are all very blurry and poorly exposed.
the camera worked GREAT on the stock rom.
any ideas or help is very appreciated.

What does this have to do with the Xoom?
I was having the same problem. After taking the picture install QuickPic. There is a problem with the stock honeycomb picture viewer.

From my experience, the pictures look quite bad when viewing them on the Xoom (via the gallery app), but once you offload them and look at them on the computer they look quite good. Do you have auto-focus turned on in the camera settings, and are you holding down the shutter long enough to let it focus? You may accidentally have the camera set to not focus or be in macro mode, which would lead to quite the blurry picture.
Offload some of ur pics onto a computer and see if they still seem blurry.
FWIW it seems like macro shots are the only ones that actually look half-decent on the Xoom itself.

Thanks for the suggestion. This actually shows the pictures clearly. Wonder whatsup with the stock Gallery app?
also keep in mind that a tablet is not the optimal platform for taking pics. Image stabilization, while good, cannot work miracles and the tablet form factor is not the easiest to hold steady while taking a pic....
Quality is just OK, my phone is far better for taking pictures.. I didn't expect much from a tablet anyways..
Video camera is decent aswell, however the stuttering issue I had with my first 2 wifi xooms still exists, oh well, I prob wont even use this for recording anyways...

Galaxy S4 camera issues (shutter lag, etc)

Hi folks,
Just bought my new Black Galaxy S4 (I9505) yesterday and enjoying every bit of it, but camera has been a great disappointment. I'm not sure why but the camera has some really bad lag. So much so, I have started thinking that S4 has some sort of issue with camera. I tried searching on the interent, and could not find any other complaints on S4's camera shutter.
Is there anyone else having the same issue? Let me explain the issue; when I take a picture on Auto mode (or any other mode), there is a lag between pressing the camera button and when the actual picture is taken. That is probably understandable due to auto focus (?), but most of the pictures come out blurry. Also, the frame I see in the view finder is not the same as the actual picture. I mean, the subject in the frame at the time of when I see the picture has been taken, does not come out the same when I look at the picture itself. I'm no camera expert so trying my best to explain it well. I have disabled every sort of fancy features in my camera, as well as the whole phone (air gesture, smart screen, etc) (although I'm sure that has nothing to do with the camera performance) but still the issue is still there.
Any suggestions on how to make it better. I take quite a lot of pictures and have been doing it on my S3 without any major complaints. In fact, I love SGS3 camera, and upgraded to S4 thinking it'll have a better camera, but that's not my experience till now.
Thanks!

Menu, settings, about, software update. See if you have an update. There was one last week and part of it was an upgrade of the camera software I think.

Thanks for the reply! I did upgrade the software as soon as I connected my phone to wifi. I think that was the only update ever since S4 launched. Any other suggestions? I do believe that this is not a common issue, I read some camera reviews and everyone seems to be praising the shutter speed, so they must be talking about a different camera than what I have
i have the same issue, i have newest software, just updated by ota. when i press sutter button i have to wait one second for picture is actually taken... so big lag, with s3 it was instant - zero shutter lag.

That's it! That is what I am experiencing. Not sure how to fix it. If you find anything, do let me know. I'm also looking around and trying different settings. My S3 had a super camera with no lags and pictures come out crisp, that's not what I'm getting with S4.

Is the delay there when you use the voice command?
At least I am not alone. Thanks to everyone who replied. Can someone disable "auto night detection" in camera settings and see if it makes any difference? I tried changing this setting and do feel some difference but cannot tell for sure. I have seen that when you take a picture in dark and when auto night detection is enabled, shutter speed is a lot faster than usual.
I am hoping we'll find some answer within the existing phone/camera settings and dont have to hack the camera, or in worst case, change the phone.
Thanks!

When focusing instead of letting the phone do it tap screen let it lock on then take the picture, I've had no problems using the camera on my phone pics have come out sharp.
But i do agree the camera software itself still needs abit of work doing yet, this will more likely get sorted out in future updates.

I see no difference between manual tapping and auto focus. The problem is still there. Thanks for the reply anyway.

Same here! I took quite a few pictures today outside in sunny weather and was very disappointed to see some blurry shots. Never had any such complaint from S3 camera. This is very disappointing. I hope samsung do something about it.

Also, your hand has to be VERY still to take pictures that are in focus are not blurry. Rather disappointed as the software is absolutely awesome.

Complaining here won't help - you all have to spam Samsung with lots of emails.
This is not something that is going to get fixed with a software update, maybe improved but not fixed. Having a 13 MP camera using tiny lens and sensor will inherently cause a situation where it takes longer to gather a sufficient amount of light, hence longer exposure times and slower shutter speeds. This is the price to pay for being able to capture lots of detail out of a tiny camera. The S4's camera should not be used to capture moving targets.

[Q] gs4 camera picture quality

hi everyone im new to this gs4 forum and i just got my gs4 last week .
i was wondering dose anyone have the same problem as me with the camera, everytime i took a picture with my phone the picture looks really good on the phone screen , but once i connect it to my computer with the usb cable , all those picture looks pretty bad on my computer screen, all the picture color washout . i also try HDR but not much different, anyone have any idea how to fix it? or i just have a bad phone to start with???
here is a sample of a picture.......
did you try on another monitor, as every monitor (even same model) represent the color differently unless you do some calibration.
p.s. photo looks fine here, with a dell u3011 calibration with spyder 4
Your photos are fine in my Dell U2410.

It's due to two things a small screen on te s4 compared to your pc/laptop monitor and the phone being 1080p...
Ps nice selection of vape parifnalia I'm a vaper myself ....egooo

Indeed.
The shooter on the S4 should be fine for making simple prints and the Internet. If you expect awesome sauce at say, 100% crop, well you need to use a 'real' camera to have an easy time of it. And even then YMMV. People usually don't need to "Blow up" pictures.
You're right. S3 had this issue too, but it's still present on s4. Doesn't matter how many mp this camera has.
It's all about the amount of light that cross the shutter. You can find more answers, just Google about s4 vs htc one camera.

Instagram-problem with new 4.3

Tried today to post some pics at Instagram and noticed that all pictures went grainy. The weird thing is that they were all fine before the release of 4.3. And now every pic I put suck in poor quality because it simply is showing less pixels (less then 2048x2048). Have any of You guys any ideas of why this has happened? Have any of You that problem that I have with Instagram and 4.3? Please let me know and exactly how to deal with this problem. Because I really hope they (Instagram) didn't messed up so I must wait for a update-version and that means no pics.

s6 edge plus camera problem blurs exiting app

Hi i just got an s6 edge plus and it seems ok but i was curious if anyone else has this issue.
After i take a photo and view it then press the back button for some reason everything goes blurry (ie the pic i just took) and then it exits back to camera mode as it should. Do you all have this? Im on the stock 5.1.1 it came with the 2nd update from august.
It's not really a problem so much as it's a bit strange. Literally if i press back button after viewing a pic ive taken it goes blurry then it exits to camera mode
The actual pic itself is fine it's just strange why it goes blurry after pressing back after viewing a pic i took.
Is this just a software bug or could it be hardware?
mine does same.
It isn't a bug or hardware issue, just how it is.
