Ive tried the volume down and volume and power but it wont work.... Any suggestions?
You are sure your phone is off and you:
Hold down the volume up and down with your left thumb and make sure there is a click feeling from both buttons and use your right hand to click on the power button?
I'm having the exact same problem. Have tried about 25 times to boot into recovery. Just does not work.
Pull the battery after every failed attempt took me about 2-3 tries. Before you do anything shut off phone pull battery then attempt to boot into recovery.
Yes, I'm doing that. The samsung screen comes up and if I release the buttons it does the normal boot up. If I keep holding the buttons the black screen with "vibrant" keeps coming on and off.
So far I discovered that it works perfectly if you hold the power button until after the Vibrant logo appears and then release the power button while still holding the both volume buttons. If you release the power button before the logo appears it will FAIL.
Only after the logo dissapears you can release the volume buttons.
In other words:
1-Press and hold both Volume buttons
2-Press and hold Power button
3-After Vibrant logo appears release Power button
4-Wait until Vibrant logo dissapears and then release Volume bottons
5-You should now be in recovery

Wow, I followed your directions step by step and still no luck! I wait till I the Vibrant logo to dissapear to release the volume buttons but it just boots up like normal. Thanks anyways! Is there another way of rooting my phone?
What I do as well is hold until the first logo dissapears and as soon as the second one appears release buttons. Then its in recovery.
Ive tried everything you all have said so far and I still cant get my phone into recovery mode. I was able to do it on my wife's vibrant but not on mine. Any suggestions?
Try getting quick boot from the market. It had an option to reboot into recovery. If your problem is just getting the button push right (i had real trouble with it at first) then this should work.

If you are rooted then Clockwork Recovery Mod has the ability to boot into recovery mode. Or you can turn on usb debugging and use adb. Start>Run>cmd and use "adb reboot recovery"

I was just handed this Nexus 7 16GB wifi by a friend.
It turns on and goes directly to the CWM 6.0.1.9 loading screen.
CWM does not completely load up. ADB is active and the device can be seen by a windows 7 computer.
With the device off, holding volume down and power, volume down, up and power, volume up and power all do nothing but turn the device on and it goes to the CWM loading screen.
I've tried adb reboot bootloader and the cmd window just hangs waiting for the device to respond. It never does.
Sometimes it'll load into APX mode. It can be gotten out of that by holding the power button for 30 seconds and then turning it back on.
To me it almost appears as if the bootloader has been corrupted or wiped.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a different way to boot into stock recovery (Must have stock recovery, works on vzw/att non Dev rooted/non)
For some reason the common way has never worked for me and I stumbled upon this.
Hold power and volume down for 3 seconds, let go
Choose Recovery then hold volume up as soon as the white screen comes on...hold until it turns black..let go
It will be black 4 seconds then an Android appears...
Hold volume up then tap power button...Stock Recovery.
Hope this helps people who like me can't boot into it the regular way.
My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + is stuck on a blue screen with a caution logo, a dead android logo, and the words "Error!"
This happened when i clicked an unknown button in recovery mode, i think its along the lines of "Install via ADB"
This is a stock recovery mode by Samsung
I am unable to power off the phone by holding the power button
Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Turn it off with power volume down and home all at once for a few seconds. Let go once it goes black and see if you can turn it on. If not do that combo with volume up instead. Can you get into recovery? It will turn off with that 3 button combo.
