Yeah that would be great. Would touchpads work?
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)

The reason I'm not using CyanogenMod7 is because the touchpads and the xLoud, but I remember that CM7 is the fastest GB I've tried in my Xperya Play. Would be nice to have an AOSP working at 100%

Well since hes makeing it from source maybe he could get touchpads works
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)

Nice! which sources?

It would be great to have it on our play.
Thanks

Don't get your hopes up as touchpads source is not released. This means that touchpads will work like on ics/jb in the best option.

Working on Porting ICS to Galaxy Tab 10.1

Currently trying to create a ROM of the ICS system dump from the SDK for our gtabs! I will post if I get working! Got it to flash, but kernel is the hard part! Everything working so far! Looking Well!

I know right? And thanks, I might need you when I get a rough beta working!
Not looking too well anymore. Trying to find the correct kernel. I'm trying to use the Bonsai kernel but thats probably not compatible. Probably going to have to compile my own. It gets up to the SGTab 10.1 screen then reboots itself.
EDIT: Oh, and, 100th Post!

That could work, but at the moment I'm trying to rip the kernel from the SDK since the stock honeycomb and ICS kernel versions are different.
Btw, if any developer who knows what they're talking about wants to help me, shoot me a PM bro!
I can help to test when you have a decent beta ready.
Seems you should just wait for source and skip SDK ports. I think the Cyanogen team knows what they are talking about... Too much of a headache for poor performance.
I would love to be proved wrong... I'm not a dev, but I do develop apps and abhor using the sdk emulators. I also know the HC sdk port to the Nook Color never got off the ground. And that was a flexible device to work on...

Thanks for your quote of wisdom but I and the other people on this thread just want to see how itll work and etc... I'm getting pretty close to getting a decent beta out.
Technically you can try to simulate what it will look like, but not until the source code is released will you have any functionality. It will still be 3.1
Theme away!

ICS

Ok I just don't get it anymore: can we port ICS to our phone? Some people say we can, others say we can't, some people are talking 'bout v6 and 7 without saying if we can('t), and I just wanna know! I'm gonna be sad if it can't.
Sent from my GT540 using Tapatalk
I believe there are people working on it already, the v6 and v7 is people wondering if there will be cpu incompatabilities with our phone because the emulator in the SDK only allows you to emulate an ARM v7 CPU and we have an ARM v6 in the GT540.
We aren't sure if it will be compatable right now as far as I know, so I would just listen for progress on the ports for now.
if i remember correctly mur4iks cm7 was based of the nexus s cm7 rom so i am downloading a nexus s ICS port to see what can be changed in that to make it work for use

Where is Imilka?

Hey Bro, when i come to visit XDA, there is no way not to look for you. Whatsup Imilka? I hope doin' good!
I kidnapped him.
Ransom: 5 Notes (if Chinese leaks are flashed then I need 10 of them)
Yeah, we need more AOSP love
He's been scared by CyanogenMod.
I think.
...No?
Iirc he is currently porting paranoid android to the note.

Actually, i'm missing CM's and Imilka's new update.
Coming up soon?
waiting for their update too =]
Maybe he fired his note, donate one to him now!

I thought maybe he hooked up with your team after the awesome port he did of CM9? Which was my first taste of cyanogen on Android btw. Was my favourite ROM for quite some time.
Anyway, keep up the good work! Looking forward to your progress on the Note.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Really miss his work too. Loving the progress that Entropy and XplodWild are making on the official CM9 build (I'm currently using it) and I can't wait for nightly builds, but Imilka's unofficial v03 is probably still the best ROM for the Note until the other devs can crack things like speakerphone and USB mass-storage.
Thinking of reverting back to Imilka's v03 for now. Any chance we could convince him to make a v04 that merely includes the latest CM9 changes?
what if he moved to sgsIII?
oh no
Come back imilka we nees you

Xperia Arc & Neo ICS Updates released today

Just found this and wanted to share.
Arc & Neo ICS updates out today.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/05/2...eo-android-4-0-ics-updates-start-rolling-out/
On a side note I thought I read somewhere that the Arc is a common ROM to be ported to Xperia PLAY.....this true?
Anyway just sharing.
Yes, it is true.
Sent from my R800x using XDA
Wohoo, this sounds promising, it sounds like my first try to port a ROM ever here, since I really want a ICS-ROM for Xperia Play, but only if the android version is 4.0.4 then, otherwise, it will not get better And after that I will try to get everything to work as well
it seems that the latest Xperia Pro ICS firmware has been leaked!
The sony devs better pray that it runs like crap on our phones because I cant imagine them looking worse than they do right now
If devs port this rom to the Play, get TouchPads working with all the touchpad games and I'll retract every ICS is bad for the Play comment I've made recently

Which is.... pretty much impossible. The dev's need to update the games.

Sent from my Xperia™ PLAY using TapatalkHD
If it wasn't for the custom roms, I would feel like crap for buying this phone (Xperia Play). At least, there are some decent roms out there.
Anyway, it is a shame that Sony hasn't released, at least, the sources, or have they?

ICS is great for us who pretty much just use the pad for emulators. Emulators work fine in ICS, and you get all the niceties (sadly the rotation animation is way up there on my list).
I could care less if Sony released an update or not, I'm still able to get a damn fine ICS experience with the aokp rom.

Xperia PLAY Dying?

Well I'm looking around and I see a lot of empty ness now since Sony cancelled on ics for Play. I have hopes for jelly bean though!

It's not dying, Sony just dropped support. Development here is still going just fine, albeit a little more slowly

not yet, in a hopefully short time a really good kernel will be released (that only works on a few devices yet)
maybe a few roms, but if sony release jb for play development will go faster.
at least sony is testing jb on play
you talk about the 3.0.x kernel of the Kexec topic nick?
nope, something better

nope not a link.

they are testing it on xperia 2011 and 2012 (i also asked about the play and he said: we are testing it on the play too)
as most games will work on jb (at least more then ics)

Did you ask about P/Sola aswell?
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app
not directly but they said: xperia 2012 line
so that's also the P and Sola
No offense, but I'm not taking the word of a forum poster who spoke to "a guy at Sony" that jb is being tested on the Play. The truth is this phone is in the process of being dropped by Sony, in fact I doubt its even being manufactured anymore. They have it working as is, and they have a whole new product line out there. JB is NOT coming to the Play.
then they can still testing it!
jb does only recommend 512mb ram where ics recommend 1024mb ram
for games much better!
project butter makes it even better for games!
but if you don't want to believe me, then you don't

Also, butter is the UI and some of the SDK. Most apps in ICS run in GB compatibility mode, so won't use the jb optimizations

A friend of mine recently got a Nexus and when he got it it had ICS and wouldnt run any GL games, now with JB he is running MC3 and several other GL games without any issues.... I never left GB as I game way too much but if JB ever came out and it worked for R800x (highly doubtful) then I might consider switching. Until then I will forever be on 2.3.3 (thank you VZ for the 2.3.4 train wreck you released)
Anyways, I am crossing my fingers for some news..... even if never switch to it.

The GL issue sounds like a bug in the system that was ironed out in Jelly Bean, speaking as a Nexus user

Sony, All we need is some Alpha/Beta of jelly bean WITH touchpad support, We can do the rest lol.
Unlikely us poor Verizon folks will ever get anything better than 2.3.3. It's time to drop big red, I think.
