Anyone out there using Bluetooth headphones? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to find out why certain ROM and kernel combos cause Bluetooth audio to crackle using audio enhancements when faux stated that he doesn't touch Bluetooth audio with his enhancements. I'm currently running The Derek Jays ROM and kernel and it doesn't have these issues. As a matter if fact my plantronics back beat go headphones have never sounded this good.
So, basically if there are no issues, let me know what you are running and I'll see if I can find a common denominator.

Update already: I may have a theory, be right back...

Well my theory went out the window, but a factory reflash helped and now running sabermod with no issues on Bluetooth audio

Nubernel v1.0.0 Vs Genocide 2.0

Here's the thing Genocide is stable, Nubernel is new may have newer features,
BUT: It tends to lag and freeze up when listening to music and using other applications like Calculator. When it freezes the music distorts and i also notice when i touch the screen when listening to music it crackles, as well as on Genocide but not so much.
If this new kernel can be patched as we see bugs it would be more of a consideration to use. For now im sticking with the old stable genocide 2.0 w/su.
Are any of you guys who are using this experience these problems, i am running SRF 1.2
I would like to add to the fact I switched to genocide and it does all this as well what could this possibly be happening for the only thing I did was re enable journaling and reinstall srf 1.2 because was getting google fc's every 30 seconds.
Any help is appreciated

Coming from sfr1.2 with the latest twilight.
I had some freezes browsing with sfr 1.2 and nubernal. Also when I battery pulled I had the crackling issues in the audio as well after it booted up. I tried restoring a couple of backups I made with twilight kernel and the audio crackling still existed. I also tried wiping everything, convertng back to rfs and back to ext4. The crackling was still there. I had to odin and reroot then restore my backup and the audio was fixed. Anybody have any ideas why that happened and why restoring a perfectly good backup didn't fix the crackling in the audio???
I never really played with genocide so I can't comment on that.

Well i think that's retarded to re ODIN back, there's something fishy going on making crackly noises.
I have been using Nube for the last 2 days and haven't noticed all of the things you described. I did have a horrible amount of lag and freezing when i first flashed it but after making some tweaks in Voltage control i haven't had any problems. I had been running Genocide for the last month and honestly in my early use of Nube i think it is performing very well. Plan on testing it out a little while longer but at this point i think Genocide was a little bit snappier.

4.1.2 ROM Recommendations?

Hello,
Just downgraded our Nexus 7 (wifi) to stock 4.1.2 because of issues experienced with 4.2.2. Can anyone recommend a stable 4.1.2 ROM & kernel with good battery life? I was looking at Paranoid Android, but I don't know when the last 4.1.2 update was.
Problems experiencing on 4.2+:
Slow charging on AC adapter
Genrally laggy performance
Audio is a bit crackly
After playing music all night the audio sounds like an old tape player with a dying battery. Skips and slow sounding. Pausing and unpausing audio player fixes it, but annoying.
Thanks!
If you can fond it cookies and creeme and clemsyns 2ghz kernel I got benchmarks at like 8500 in quadrant

I'm curious on your first point, since using an AC charger rated for 2.1Amp I've actually watched the battery widget show it was drawing in upward to 1.8A when charging (it gets lower the closer it gets to 100%). So I'm wondering if it's more the charger issue there (the one that ships with N7 supposed to be a 2Amp charger).
Far as the second one, I think it depends, I haven't had any laggy experiences using the 4.2.2 rom in my signature.
Audio... can't say I had crackly issues, but I haven't played with it that heavily in terms of audio playback.
Course none of this answers your initial question.

These types of threads are not allowed on XDA because they lead to opinionated and subjective replies. Plus the fact that people get sick of seeing "what is best rom?" type threads all the time.
If you want that sort of thing go read here or try roms and find whats best for you.
Thread class @TheATHEiST summed it up very well.
These types of threads are just not aloud on XDA as a best ROM is down to your own taste and if you ask people many will give different views which will just result in arguments.
Your best bet is to just try a range of ROMs yourself to find out which you feel is best for you.

WooFreakinHoo! USB Audio Fixed in CM 10.2

I have been looking for a rom that supports audio out through the usb cable in the car dock with no success. I have been running CM 10.1 stable for a while for its stability and support. Finally decided to go with some nightlies and didn't realize I upgraded to 10.2 in the process (which was seamless except for a few apps I needed to uninstall and reinstall).
Biggest surprise came when I got in my car this morning and decided to try playing music through the doc instead of through the headphone jack (like I always do when trying out a new rom in the hopes that it works).
I was shocked to hear audio coming through loud and clear. Made my day.
Can't confirm this on any other rom but if you are like me, and love the ease of docking and having music without plugging any more wires in, then give CM 10.2 nightly a try.
Awesome. Can't wait till its ported to CM11

Nexus 7 on Cm 11

Hello guys, I currently own a nexus 2nd Gen it's rooted and running the latest cm 11 nightly build. Sometimes it make a buzzing noise while I'm listening to music or watching videos or it froze and restart itself that happen at least 3-4 times a day. I was wondering if that happens anyone else and how to fix it
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I've never had the buzzing but I don't use the speakers much.
The freezing and rebooting I have had both on stock and cm11. Best uptime I'd get was ~24 hours.
After flashing the latest Glitch kernel it's been up for ~106 hours. All location services turned on, syncing, google now, same apps etc.
Too soon to tell I guess but definitely an improvement.
I thought I was the only one it's getting really annoying, other roms are fine
I sometimes have buzzing sound for a short period of time. But I am using stock rooted 4.4.2.
I get this too, also happens in games
happened to me only on stock cm11
I ask this everywhere but does OTG work with latest cm11 nightly for flo? It is important for me since I cannot flash any other kernel to get it working

Can you tell all your glitch kernel settings?
Buzzing Noise fix
Flash the stock Android 4.4.2 ROM back on your Nexus 7 and the install Xposed.
Why would you need a custom version of 4.4.2 on your tablet that's already running 4.4.2 when the Xposed Framework works just as well.
EDIT - I've had no problems with buzzing noises or freezing on stock rom with unlocked bootloader and rooted.
Yup - same here. I've actually experienced this on both CM 10 and CM 11. The audio distortion out of the speakers is horrible. CM roms are the only ones that have this problem. I wonder if it has something to do with DSP Manager that's included with the CM Roms??
I agree with previous posters in this thread too - Stock rooted 4.4.2 is all you really need. Been flawless on my N7 2013.
I have the same issue
It usually happens when I watch a video from youtube or twitch. My tablet buzzes like kind of similar to someone getting an answer wrong in a game show.
I just need to go back to stock.
Can confirm that there's a buzz sound and a 1-3 second freeze using the CM11-M2 build.
After flashing the Jan 24 CM11 build, and the glitch kernel (using all stock settings except overclock to 1.7ghz cpu and 500mhz GPU), buzz sound is gone and all is well.
It happened to me with latest cm nightlies, and with all of them I had freezes and hangs. I went back to stock rom with elementalx kernel and i don't have any of these issues. I think cm overall is less stable and faster than stock rom. it's good for non nexus devices, but with nexus is better to stick to stock. I've tried other ROMs as well, nothing compares to stock in performance and stability.

Glitch kernel + cm nightlies = awesome mode
Still have more than 30% battery left
I have a problem with play store. It doesn´t load all the app images. Some of them are just blank while browsing apps.
I have tried latest nightlies, clearing app data and I have even tried a factory reset and I am still experienceing the same problem.
Anyone else having this problem?

Best Audio Configuration : ROM+Kernel

Hi guys
Thinking about giving the Note 2 a chance since it has Wolfson.
Sound means a lot for me, i still have my old Nexus S with Voodoo Sound just because i love the sound out of it.
I would like to know which is for you guys the best combination for audio purposes, meaning ROM and Kernel, also which player u use and how happy u are with the sound, how u describe it, which are the strongest points, what are u missing...just your general opinion about it.
Depends what you like. personally I'm on Perseus kernel, which lets you change gain of volume and freqs but it doesn't color the sound, beats, xperia etc mod are not for me. ROM wise, It doesn't matter.

I have and old Nexus S, with CM11 and DSP Manager, i have direct access to the DAC, which is what Boeffla Sound does for the Note 2 as far as i know.
That would do it for me, pure Wolfson experience, then find the best audio settings and ready to go.
Custom rom, agni kernel (with boeffla sound) + viper sound mod + neutron player
for me the best combination ever
Yeah. You are right.

I Personally would use Jet Audio as has alot of Audio tweaks which are awesome, I have used Different kernels and they do a great job especially with Eargasm turned on, as for VIPER or similar they are great but i found that they muffle the sound and reduce volume so i actually prefer it without and use Jet audio to edit my audio as for ROM well it depends on what you like and what Android version you want maybe try Sungsonic or Sensonic I personally use JellyKat with JetAudio and sounds great for me
I had the original Galaxy S, and also used the voodoo tweaks. The Note II sounds broadly very similar to my ears, it really is very good. No chance of driving my HD650s without an amp or anything, but the quality is great.
I'm still on an old ROM - Omega v18 with Perseus kernel. Easy to tweak the volume levels and access the HW equaliser for adding a notch of bass for the stock earbuds.
I need some help guys.
Hey guys so i am kinda newbie in this things, but i installed a lot of roms till now. By just folowing carefully step by step everything. Never messed up,ocasionally got some phones into a boot loop but managed to revive them. Also bricked a Nexus 4 but revived that as well. Anyway. My question for you guys is....how do i know if my Note 2 (n7100) Has the boeffla or as a matter afact ANY Sound mods installed on it ? All i know is i have this:
Android 4.4.2
Baseband N7100XXUFND3
Kernel version
3.0.31-3569041
[email protected] #1
Fri Dec 12 20:16:40 KST 2014
Build number

SE for Android status
Enforcing
SEPF_GT-N7100_4.4.2_0035

And it wasnt rooted. But somehow it had TWRP installed on it. So i went for it and rooted straight away and first i tried installing Viper4Android 4 but it kept giving me error on installing via TWRP so i installed the old one (2.3 i guess) Witch sucks actually cus the sound is very ... distorted and un-natural. I cant seem to find any setting that would sound good and i wanna get the most out of my Note 2 on sound as i am a huge basshead. I`m frustrated cus i bought a pair of Monster DNA In ear,Skullcandy Ink`D,Skullcandy Smokin`buds Skullcandy 50/50 and Skullcandy Holua Wood. And none of them sound that good. (I thought with some good earbuds problem will be solved but NOPE).
So please .... Please guys have some heart and help me out...
I have pretty much tried DSP Manager, Viper Mod, Beats Audio Mod, Sony Clear Audio Mod, Noozxoide and so on. But from my experience I found the best combination is "Dolby Digital Plus" combined with manual "Audio improvement Mod" in default_gain.conf file itself. Without any distortion I can hear crystal clear notes even if they are very low on frequency. I am on Dr. Ketan V14 Rom, Music FX and Default Music Player. Its worth the try. Follow these 2 threads:
Step 1) Install Dolby Digital Plus
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/themes-apps/dolby-digital-plus-note-2-t2918922
Step 2) Audio improvement for N7100 : (here you change the DAC values)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...io-improvement-n7100-break-vol-power-t3044738
Settings listed by Julian67 is more than enough, atleast for me. Good Luck.
