Take a few shots with the old FW then take similar shots when the update is out. And share them. :good:

Which firmware build you're talking about? MDM? That one had a camera Firmware Update included and improved Image Quality a bit

Some ROM's use a different camera version; You can compare them under the Advanced option/ About. I'm not sure how much of an improvement one version is over another though. Hope this helps
Going from the original stock rom to the last 6.1 !Aman! rom (2F) which had a much newer HTC camera app, I noticed the problem of overexposure had been fixed. I used to have "brightness" set at -1 or -1.5, now I don't have to. It was an obvious fault and they corrected it.
But other than that, quality is the same.
Any ROM's (official or non official) that have better video recording? I have an old stock one and video recording is a mess... it's a 720p camera! I expect some HD.

it's only 720p resolution but camera is not hd and there is no phone with hd this is just marketing bull****.

my phone always recorded video with pretty decent quality on all roms. Are u using a slow SD card that limits saving process?
Actually the SD Card is quite fast. It's not the lagging, its the quality itself..
My best bet would be a stock Rom, but I don't think this has anything to do with Roms... The optics on this camera are low quality and no matter what Rom you're going to use, video recording is not going to improve.
I read online that the B136 (I think) has better recording quality.. now. I don't want to install that ROM.. but can I download it and just replace the camera libs? I am running B133

B133?? Really?
That it a very old Rom and has countless bugs...Just upgrade to B138, even B136 it'll be far better...Since B135, Huawei released a number of camera bugfixes, no wonder you have issues, because B133 was terrible.
Can you please tell me from where I can download any of these ROMs? The only links that I found link to huaweidevice website, and all links are broken.
Any mirrors of these roms? And which one should I use?

Camera quality depends on camera's sensor & lenses, i don't think that any software related update can make a difference.. And if our devs do not add them maybe there is no such?
I know a lot of you have been waiting for a better Camera UI.
Finally in the latest Android 6 Beta, there is a new camera UI, which they will be improving on!
Superior Auto still only has an 8MP option Hopefully they will improve upon that.
The UI is the same as the Z5 Camera, with a few improvements to suit the Z3C (Improvements / downgrades )

Well from what I have seen Sonys image processing is not that bad at all, it is quite the opposite, check this thread and you will see what I mean:

With that being said, there are camera mods available which will use the camera processing libraries from the Z5 on Z3 Compact as well, but I wouldn't expect Sony to improve the camera quality on a phone which is over 1 years old, that seems very unlikely in my opinon....
But you can flash these camera-mods by yourself, I haven't tried these myself, so I can't tell if it's how it's working (not sure about if works with Marsmallow either);

I have the same issue. A workaround that will allow you to record video is to disable Google Now 'Ok Google' detection on any screen.

It does pop up with use close up text that you have to press. But that isn't available for 108MP, just 1:1 and Full Options.
Still needs improvements though, its nowhere near comparable to super macro mode on Mate 20Pro

It does. 108mp closeup up zoom work.
Just heads up, small bug after updating is that fingerprint animation is off-center, other than that it actually seem faster.

Close-up zoom doesn't sound like a fix. Sounds like a it's just doing a crop, causing you to move the phone further from your subject, into the focus range. I guess it's a convenience for not having to crop or zoom in to the photo afterwards. Or just manually invoking zoom before taking the shot.
