Ok, I have the T-Mobile Tab, I have Skype and Google Voice working via 3G and Wifi but here is the issue...
I have tried 4 different wireless bluetooth headsets and they all react the same... They connect and pair with no issues BUT...
When you place a call the other callers voice is routed, as it should be, to the BT headset, however, my voice is not routed through the BT microphone and it uses the Tab's built in mic...
This is pretty unacceptable as you can imagine and pretty much defeats the purpose of a BT headset...
Any ideas, thoughts, or help on how to get the Tab to route voice via the BT headset as opposed to it's built in mic would be MUCH appreciated!!!!
Thanks in advance!
This was kind of discussed in another thread. Current thinking is that they modified the profile to not support a mic on the BT headset.
Until someone creates a patch, update or a custom rom, there probably won't be a solution.
This is the price we pay for getting the new toys right away. Once the dev's start rolling out the mods, I am sure it will be corrected.

Whilst this may be true for US Tabs, FWIW bluetooth headset profiles do not work with Skype on Euro Tabs either.
I've been trying it out this afternoon, and whilst my headset (well, wristset to be totally accurate) works fine for regular cellular calls, when I try to use Skype I only get audio out.
If I check the options for the connected device in the bluetooth settings, I have both Media and Phone profiles checked. If I uncheck Media, I no longer even get audio out with Skype (though regular phone calls still work ok on the headset), which shows that Skype is not using the Phone profile at all.
So, I suggest you look at the options for your bluetooth device to see if it even has the option for Phone. If it does, it seems that the headset profile is still there and it is actually Skype which is not using it.
Regards,
Dave
If you read some of the comments here, it seems that Skype for Android doesn't support bluetooth anyway.

Dave
Thanks for the info man. I'll check it out on my Sprint GT.
Wonder if it's possible to put the Samsung Galaxy S BT on the Tab?
It is because the sound of these apps is being routed via the A2DP profile and not Headset provide is you are hearing the sound via the BT headset but the mic used is the Tab's

Since my headset didn't work with Skype at all with the Phone profile awhen I switched of the Media (A2DP) profile, I doubt a non-A2DP headset will help.
The problem is Skype doesn't use the phone profile.

Dave
I dont think its limited to skype either. I tried two other programs last night, neither one had working mic.

BT works just fine within Skype when using it on my MacBook Pro and my iMac.... The only issues I am having is on the Tab...
I wonder if it would be possible to flash or install the euro BT .apk?

Why? Still won't work because the problem is with Skype on Android - it does not use the phone BT profile.

Dave
No BT Headset Profile in any of the US Galaxy Tabs
The reason that none of can use their Bluetooth headsets with a program like Skype (or better yet, Line2, which I am a beta tester for) is that the Amrican carriers ripped out the ability to use BT Headset profile. Now some headset (such as te Jabra Stone) uses Audio profile, so it will work with the GalaxyTab, but we definitely need someone to break that an hack in a great fix so that we can get Line2, install it on the Tab, then us Bluetooth Headsets to do our communcating. This because the best (and cheapest) phone/data device in the world at that point. Is anyone working on that?

Interesting. I am going to pick up a Jabra Stone and see if it works with Skype on the Tab.

And these headphones have a mic built into them? And that mic worked for your Skype calls?
I have searched and searched and I am actually currently waiting two new Jabra Extreme2 headsets from Jabra.... but I don't have a lot of faith that the problem will be solved.
The scenario is simple.. Calling and listening to music is fine. The issue is on incoming calls, and only MOST of the time.
If the headset is on and connected (bluetooth) the ringtone will start to stutter and the announcement in the headset will be "call from " and a number instead of the actual name in the contact list. At this point the phone will be frozen. The call will roll to voicemail. The only way to shut the headphone up from repeating the number continuously is to turn it off. Once the headset is off, you can usually get to the pulldown and turn off bluetooth. It will take awhile (minute or two) to release, but it will. At this point you can turn on the headset and turn on bluetooth again and make a call without issue. Maybe even receive a call... but about 8 out of 10 calls will result in the above.
My wife and I each have an Epic 4g and a Jabra Extreme2 headset. The issue is the same on both phones. We have older Jabra BT530 headsets that other than sounding like crap. (old bluetooth tech) work great, no issues.
I'm not convinced the issue is the headset. I mean really, there is no "software" for the headset. It's just a bluetooth connection, so why is the phone freezing? I tried different ringtones as I thought that might be the issue, but it isn't.
Does anyone have any thoughts or insight, or any idea if it could actually be the headset causing the phone to freeze.
Also, does anyone know how to disable the PBAB as that seems to be related but without being able to disable it, I can't confirm.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Anyone using the Extreme2 ?
Well, I have a Moto Finiti Bluetooth and I am not having any of the issues you mentioned so far. Thankfully its connecting better than earlier ROM releases on my Epic

I could not find a solution to this problem after searching, if there is one please direct me to it. Thanks.
I have a stock Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android version 4.4.4 install on AT&T network. When using my plantronics bluetooth headset with Ok Google detection set to activate from any screen I lose all phone audio over the headset after the first call (ie. the first call works fine but after that I cannot hear anything) Music audio works fine. If I deactivate the detection from any screen and re-boot the phone I get the audio back. I tried the same headset on my son's new Galaxy note and it worked with no problem.
I've read several posts with similar problems but so far no solutions. Obviously, there is a conflict, I'm guessing with Ok Google and the headset both using bluetooth but so far I can not find information on resolving it.
Has anyone found a solution, other than not using Ok Google detection from any screen?
Thanks, JH
I have a weird issue using the Galaxy Note 4 N910F.
I'm connected to a bluetooth headset, Plantronics Edge in my case.
When I place a call, I must manually choose bluetooth from the call screen, in order to get the call on my headset.
Same thing goes when someone's calling - When I answer from the headset it answers, but I must press the bluetooth icon on the call screen in order to get the call on my bluetooth headset.
Happens on both KitKat & Lolipop.
Does anyone knows how to fix this?

I think that's normal since it happens on my Note 4 as well. I think what's happening is that the Note 4 is trying to save battery by snoozing the bluetooth module.
Update @ 22-04-2017:
Somehow.... the Bluetooth issue just fixed itself.. I didn't change any settings.
It just started to function normally the next day!
It's still a mystery to me... but I'm glad it works fine now

Hi,
I just got my S8 and I love it! Everything works well.. except:
When pairing the S8 via Bluetooth with my Parrot MK6100 carkit it won't sync the contacts from the phone to the carkit and when I play audio it streams it all scrambled.
The audio trough the carkit sounds like the phone is very far away and it's about to loose the connection. Actually the connection with the phone was dropped a few times while streaming audio. This only happend when I paired the phone the first time. The distance between both devices is about 30 centimeters...
Normal voice calls are ok.
The carkit has the latest firmware version 1.03a. I already did a reset to factory settings.
It works fine with other smartphones like my previous Sony Xperia Z3 and LG G4 running Android 6.0.1.
Samsung customer service was unable to help me with this issue. According to them, no other complains have been registered about Bluetooth issues with the S8 so far. At least in the Netherlands.
Streaming audio to other Bluetooth devices from the S8 does work fine.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? Could it be Android 7.0.1 or maybe the S8 itself, as it features Bluetooth 5.0??
And of course, any ideas on how to fix it?
Thnx,
Lorand
hi! Same issues on my S8+. Bluetooth doesnt send notifications to smart watch, also doesn't auto connect to BMW. And cant find any solutions ..
