I have searched and searched and I am actually currently waiting two new Jabra Extreme2 headsets from Jabra.... but I don't have a lot of faith that the problem will be solved.
The scenario is simple.. Calling and listening to music is fine. The issue is on incoming calls, and only MOST of the time.
If the headset is on and connected (bluetooth) the ringtone will start to stutter and the announcement in the headset will be "call from " and a number instead of the actual name in the contact list. At this point the phone will be frozen. The call will roll to voicemail. The only way to shut the headphone up from repeating the number continuously is to turn it off. Once the headset is off, you can usually get to the pulldown and turn off bluetooth. It will take awhile (minute or two) to release, but it will. At this point you can turn on the headset and turn on bluetooth again and make a call without issue. Maybe even receive a call... but about 8 out of 10 calls will result in the above.
My wife and I each have an Epic 4g and a Jabra Extreme2 headset. The issue is the same on both phones. We have older Jabra BT530 headsets that other than sounding like crap. (old bluetooth tech) work great, no issues.
I'm not convinced the issue is the headset. I mean really, there is no "software" for the headset. It's just a bluetooth connection, so why is the phone freezing? I tried different ringtones as I thought that might be the issue, but it isn't.
Does anyone have any thoughts or insight, or any idea if it could actually be the headset causing the phone to freeze.
Also, does anyone know how to disable the PBAB as that seems to be related but without being able to disable it, I can't confirm.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Anyone using the Extreme2 ?
Well, I have a Moto Finiti Bluetooth and I am not having any of the issues you mentioned so far. Thankfully its connecting better than earlier ROM releases on my Epic

Hi,
I have the TyTn and when I connect it via Bluetooth to my Nokia CK7W carkit callers complain that my voice breaks up and they only hear every 2nd word or so. I also get the same complaints when using the handsfree inbuilt speakerphone, and that my voice fades in and out.
Yet when I talk normally with the phone to my ear the problem isn't there.
I've tried raising my voice and speaking closer to the mic in both cases but this doesn't work.
Any suggestions?
Tnx
Ari
Might be similair to the issues other users and I are having.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it's not related to the other forums. My phone keeps the bluetooth connection and both incoming and outgoing voices can be heard.
I've heard it for myself and it sounds like i'm in a bad reception area. What's really puzzling is that it also happens when I speak on the phone with the speakerphone activated, yet when I place the phone right to my mouth then the problem goes away, so i'm thinking it's something to do with the mic switching off to cancel any echo?

When I press the button on the BT headset to answer incoming call the ringing stops on the caller end and on the cingular 8125 (rom 2.25), but there's a 2-3 second delay before the phone actually connects the call to the BT headset.
On the caller side they have 2-3 seconds of dead airtime, after the ring stops. Because of the connection delay, the caller is already saying hello - hello - hello (etc) thinking the call has been answered.
I've tried 3 different bluetooth headsets (Moto 850, Plantronics 645 & 655, Jabra JX10) and they all experience the same problem.
I've verified it's not associated with the 3 second ring delay issue (posted on XDA) - phone rings almost immediately.
Any thoughts, recommendations, hacks/tweaks will greatly be appreciated. This is becoming more of a problem, as I use my phone mostly for business.
Otherwise the phone has been outstanding.
BT headset delay
I have the same issue with T-mobile MDA and Jabra BT250V. Not only does the delay confuse callers, but they hear the ring tone and buzzing of the vibrator before they hear me... hello...hello...hello. It really sucks.
I have tried a Motorola headset (H350) the delay is shorter but the headset sound quality sucks. I was going to try the Jabra JX10 next and hope for the best.
I've also tried using the "BT on" feature of PocketZenPhone to avoid the delay. Not a satisfactory solution.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Is anyone answering calls on their BT headset and getting a quick connection? Is this just me?????

i have the moto HT820 stereo bluetooth headset and experience nothing like that, even when running my bluetooth gps reciever... the call is answered as soon as i hit the button... only problem i have is the lagging and skipping music, but i dont listen to music so its not a problem
My H700 delays on both of my Qteks (Wizard and Prophet). It only delays if I close the boom. If I leave the headset with the boom open it picks up right away when I press the side button. With the boom closed when it rings, I find that if I open the boom I have to wait 2-3 seconds for the sound to transfer. If I open the boom and press the button, 2-3 seconds it will hang up on the caller because I guess opening the boom is picking it up already
However, my HT820 stereo headset doesn't have any of those problems. Quick and easy, picks up right away; however there's no boom. My Bluespoon AX5 doesn't delay either.

I had a bt250, and that delay is a known problem with the bt250,possibly making the problem worse
I have now tried 3 different bluetooth headsets with my AT&T Tilt with Stock Rom. First was my BlueAnt V12 I used great with my RAZR then I bought a Motorola S705 now I have Sony HBH-DS980.
With the BlueAnt V12 the audio was low and tinny and couldn't hear the caller
The Motorola S705 sounded good minor choppiness but the callers couldn't hear me worth a damn. Both of these devices paired great and kept connection, only the Motorola would loose connection if I got a system alarm or if I was streaming music. For just handset operation it worked great. With the Sony it seems to be a crap shoot when they are going to work. I installed JetWare to enable Caller ID Name and Ringtone through headset and when I pair them the first time they work great all day long. However if I turn bluetooth off on the phone and then back on I have issues with disconnecting and sound not going through headset for calls.
So I installed the new Official AT&T Rom from HTC's Site the other day hoping the bluetooth improvements they made would help. I decided to try JetWare again just to see if it worked, again I started having problems again. So I hard reset and didn't install the JetWare Extensions. For the first day everything worked great. Next day I fired it up it's up to it's old tricks of disconnecting after a call.
Anyone else having these issues? My state is going to be bluetooth only while driving in about 4 months so I really need bluetooth to work.
Can you charge the sony ds980 via usb?
No it has a real strange plug for charging
Hi, I have the Sony Ds980. I've experienced similar problems in the past.
check your Bluetooth settings on the phone: communication manager --> Settings --> bluetooth. Select your device (ds-980) but don't double click on it. and then check its mode: in that window, ensure that you have checkmarks in both options (i.e, Turn on bluetooth & make sure this device is visible to other devices). Sometimes, when you restart your bluetooth headset, the second option is left unchecked, thus causing disconnections between it and the device.
another option is to trigger the headset button. sometimes, when a call comes in, I would have to do this once or twice before it connects.
I think it is a bug.
i have the Jetware extension and MSVoice, and they help with the caller ID.
HTH,
rgds, Manny
I'm trying to decided between the DS980 and the Moto S9.
I'm so tired of wasting my money on crap.
Thanks I'll have a look at those settings, I just wish JetWare uninstalled nicely
I have been running it lately without JetWare and the only issue I am having this way is the wireless stereo portion disconnects after each Incoming call it does not do this if I place a call.
With JetWare I can sometimes keep it connected no matter what the issue is it connects but when I place a test call it rings on the headset but when I answer the call it isn't comming in on the headset it is still on the phone although the call button works and ringing on the headset works. It got to be a pain to have to place a few test calls to make sure the headset was working.

Well, that does it for me. The DS980 is officially off my list.
Hello
Since i bought my htc hd2 in November 2009, I never find the solution to call people with my bluetooth headset. The bip sound that should tell me when to pronounce the name doesnt work well and sometimes people call me on the cell phone, i answzer with the bluetooth headset and I receive the voice in the cellphone and not in the headset. Someone can help please
Thanks a lot
I have the same problem. I've tried 3 different bluetooth headsets. Some days it's fine. Even turning the phone off and on doesn't fix it a lot of the time. I'm actually kind of ticked at the HD2; I thought upgrading from the T-mo Wing would be great, but the HD2 had the freezing problem, and now with the new firmware, it's like something is running in the background (although it's not). I've been using a wired headset when it's critical that I don't have an issue.
My Vibrant has been disconnecting the motorola h710 whenever another call comes in while I'm on the line. I have to then use the phone itself to answer and then click headset on the device before it routes the call back to the headset. Another annoying issue is that it doesn't give an audible warning before it does this.
I'm wondering if this a normal operation of the phone? If it is, I may have to bring it back. Using bluetooth happens to be a big part of my phone usage.
I currently don't have access to another bluetooth to test but its proven to work fine on my 3GS and the Mytouch 3g.
Thanks
