that device was there ever a slide to wake type of mod created for that device? I'm just wondering if there may be a future touch to wake type kernel in samsung s4's near future.

I'm sure most of the futures can be ported as APKs to a custom ROM, but I doubt as a whole package ,since the S Pen function is missing there.its unfortunate that Samsungs approach to the Note is more of a business minded rather than supportive.
S-Pen function missing? Pen is built into ICS, and SIII will get its own pen as well.
Thanks for the replies ,is the eye thing software or hard ware related
xda devs will be forting new touchwiz for GNote

The SIII's C-Pen* is just a Samsung branded capacitive stylus like any other, whereas the Note's S-Pen is essentially a wacomm digitizer full of awesome.
*"C" for capacitive, or "Crappy"

I have the "eye thing" already. I hated the timeout while reading things or doing some things so much, I set my screen never to turn off until I turn it off. If I forget I can feel the heat in my pocket within minutes LOL.
Its a great feature on the S3.
Sweet,so the new touchwiz that's based on ICS will have just about most of the cool new features on the s3?I know that it won't be a carbon copy or anything but I'd love my note so much, even tough the hardware is much nicer on s3 ... the s3's curves are a little girly.
Hey guys,
I'm interested in buying a new smartphone for my sister. The trick is that she's handicapped, so one major requirement is either a swipe to wake, or a front home button (like the Galaxy S series has).
I saw that the Galaxy Nexus has the s2w feature and am planning to buy that for her (and install a kernel that has support for PGM Nexus), but was wondering if the LG Nexus 4 might have this feature in the see-able feature (a few weeks from now)?
Thanks in advance
PGM Nexus developer would make it for Nexus 4 if he had the device so lets hope he gets one

Doesn't look like any sweep/swipe 2 wake kernel is out yet for the Nexus 4 though

I currently have the Droid DNA, and I'm thinking about selling it and upgrading to the Galaxy S4 once Verizon releases it. The last Samsung phone I had was the Galaxy S II on Sprint. (epic 4g touch) and it used to do one thing that REALLY irritated me. I like having my phone's brightness all the way up. It just looks better imo. Especially on an LED screen. But the S II would ALWAYS turn the brightness down to avoid "overheating". It did this all the time, whether or not the phone was actually hot.
I was wondering if the S4 does the same thing? If so, is there a way to turn it off with or without rooting it? That could be the deciding factor for me...
i hope note3 small screen feature will come to galaxy s4.i liked this mod..if note 2s multiview feature came to s3(i dont know exactly) then this can be happen i think.
I believe this post is best suited for the S4 forum...
yes i opened same topic to s4 thread if not suitable can be deleted.
Hey guys!
I am kinda torn between these two devices. At first I waned the Edge+ but then after trying a few units in different shops I noticed that the home button is kinda loose. By loose I mean moving up and down (kind of like the one on the s6) instead of being stiff. Also I am pretty scared that it will be forgotten by Samsung after a while, just like my brand new s3 was forgotten back in the day (it only went from 4.0 to 4.3). Those being said..I think those two are my only concerns about the Edge+
On the other hand..is the Nexus 6P it's also a device I would like. It will always have the latest Android version (at least for about 3 years) and to me it looks okay. Not as sexy as the S6 edge+ but still looks nice. With this device I am concerned about either scratching the back of the graphite version..this exposing the raw aluminium...having the "visor" crack for no reason and I am also kinda concerned about the rigidity of the phone...last night I saw a guy on youtube bending it quite easily.
Also...what about the performance of both devices? I saw some speedtests..and I noticed that the 6P is a bit slower in launching games and intensive applications. Should it also be a problem for it to run them? Is there really a big difference between the 6P and Edge+ in terms of mobile gaming?
What would you recommend, guys? Nexus 6P or the Edge+
Please think what would you choose for yourself...and let me know. Also, are my concerns real? Did anyone scratch the back of the 6P or had it's visor crack by itself? Does anyone have an edge+ with a loose button? Hopefully if someone owns this device..they can shoot a really quick video showing the stiffness of the home button.
Also, even better...if someone owns both phones...which one would you pick again?
TLDR version: Nexus 6P or Edge+? Which one would you choose and why?
I am waiting for your answers guys! Hopefully I will get some fast.
Best regards,
Mihai Ilie
It depends. If you want guaranteed longterm updates, go for the Nexus 6p. I know the problem with Samsung. They have a great built quality but use closed source hardware, eFuses and only give you some updates as long as the device is new on the market. This is at least for me one reason why I would not want to own a Samsung device ever again.
If you want the freedom of eg. rooting your device, having the latest Android version, you are better off with a Nexus device. The hardware might not be as powerful in comparison to latest Samsung devices but the overall performance will be great. Once you go Nexus, you never go back
Go 6P. Always choose nexus when specs are that close. Carrier bloat and locked devices is now a Samsung norm I had the sgs6 and it was the laggiest phone I ever used. The 6P is butter.

Hehe. My first nexus but I already feel like this ! Not even interested in the upcoming S7 anymore, screw Samsung with their touchwiz and ****ty update policy and closed sources.
