hello
i have my note 2 with me and tonight or tomorrow ill buy the s4 ,
but i dont know witch model to get , a lil confuse
in my area got a 4g support but i dont care much about it so its not big deal with me if i get the lte support one or not
what i care about is the roms , kernels supports (Samsung base )
so will the i9500 will be good in terms of roms dev etc or the i9505 ?
as i said i care about roms dev and also performance
thank you for reading
Quad is almost lock in specific operators and octa is almost international
so quad is more depend on operators plan
and Octa depend on samsung plan
:good:
thanks but im not talking about the plan or locked
im talking about what to get in terms of roms devs and dev supports
both of them are unlocked here in my country
The Qualcomm (i9505) version is better if you're looking for ROMs, Kernels, Themes... But the Exynos(i9500) version is also very good.
PS: Both versions are good in term of performence & fluidity !

I do not know what to buy, On the one hand Google spends official Android to I9505.
But then again maybe it's better to buy the I9500 ?
Google will release a Official Android for all I9505 devices? Or just devices purchased from Google?
Please Help!!! I do not know what to buy: (

Pros for 9505: many roms including aosp and better community support, GPU with OpenGL 3.0, LTE, same hardware as google edition
Cons for 9505: about 10% less CPU power
Pros for 9500: about 10% more CPU power
Cons for 9500: no AOSP at least for now, worse dev community support, older GPU, no LTE (LTE version of 9500 is only in Korea), flawed CPU
No one knows if You will be able to flash google rom directly, but most probably it will be at least easily portable to 9505. For me the choice is very easy.

You're buying S4 from korea?
Anyway, get i9505 as it has much more development support and has 4g.

So the Gpu is better on the I9505 even though it's weaker?
Which one will show better performance in the future on heavy games (I know that at the moment, no game is a challenge for any one of them...).

See the gpu in i9500 has higher mhz but it isnt noticeable as no games are that high but for the future the i9500 has no support for glse 3.0 unlike the i9505 which does so u choose
samsung made this a controversy so that both devices sell
so....I9505 ? Or I9500?
iPhone 5 definitely :good: :good:

I consult....In any case I'm still not close what I want to buy I do not know what more to either pay = \
I would prefer to be without a contract, I'm okay being without LTE in the USA, would like international usability, and am confused about all these different variants in model numbers, processor types, and versions (e.g. Google edition, Active edition, etc...). Thanks!

Go for I9506.I think is the best.I own this phone and is better than I9505.But if you are looking for any custom rom you will not find anyhing for it(yet) only root and a few mods compatible from I9505.But overall is way better than i9505.The Snapdragon 800(2,3 Ghz and Adreno 330) does his job very well.And....there is no official android 4.3 for it.Just 4.2.2.I9506 rocks the benchmarks. In Antutu(stok ROM,stock Kernel) it scores around 35000 pts.
none , don t purchase an s4 , if u really want a Samsung device the s5 is coming soon , also concerning international usability with regional lock Samsung is not a good option
If you're considering a Google play edition device, you're better off with the nexus 5

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm looking into this. What carrier are you using; any plan suggestions? (I'm not too eager to sign a contract)

Has the S5 been announced? Doesn't Samsung usually release new year flagship phones in March/April? I'll need one much sooner than that.
Also, what's the problem with international use on a GS4? I think I remember reading that International GS4s in the USA don't have 4G use, and USA GS4s don't work well in other countries. If I get a rootable GS4, would this resolve this concern?
Thanks again for the help guys!

n9005 is better the the n900, but if custom roms is a concern for you, then n9005 is the right one.
in doing daily tasks, there are no noticeable differences except for battery life which i read that it is better on the n9005.
if you can get someone to buy it for you (n9005) and check for hardware issues, it would be great.
i myself had to buy it from outside my country (my cousin bought it and sent it to me) and got it right with no problems from the first time.
i bought the n9005 version because custom roms are a big concern for me (you know, why am i buying an android if i'm not going to mod it?)

Have a look on this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600536
For all intents and purposes, you will always want to stick with the Qualcomm Snapdragon version of any phone, including the N900x. The Samsung Exynos SoC may be able to provide you with better battery life and performance (Samsung's approach to controlling both hardware and software of their devices like Apple), but the weak developer support is simply not worth it. And all versions of the Qualcomm model (with the exception of Verizon's) are the same International version with an unlocked bootloader, and therefore can be flashed with any ROM from the Android Development forum.

Exynos device is not supported by many good devs, so really, if you want to use custom roms on your phone, then you are better buy an snapdragon version

It's almost time to retire my trusty S2. My choices for replacement are the 9505 or the 9506. The 9506 is newer, probably better technology, but there is more custom stuff ready for the 9505. So which way to go? Neither the s800 with a higher CPU nor the slightly higher LTE category (LTE is crap here in Greece) in the 9506 are not dealbreakers for me. I am more interested in stability, customization, and the upgrade path to lollipop.

I use a i9500 still I yearn for a i9505.
-Better dev support
-More Roms
-More Kernels
-More acceptability (on XDA as most of the devs have i9505, thus can help better)
-More guides and and a universally used board, so if you want to turn into a dev, you have more guides
-A method to flash custom roms without tripping KNOX!
I9506 is not known. Whatever maybe the reason, people with i9506 long for a custom rom.
And if one S4 variant gets and upgrade, all S4s will get an upgrade.

That more or less confirms what I thought. I guess there are more developer support and customizations for the 9505 because it came out before the 9506. Still, it'd be nice to have the newer CPU and GPU (as they tend to be more efficient) and I suspect there are some other minor improvements as well. I see there are unified ROMs that work on both models, though definitely more for the 9505. At least they are both using snapdragons, so they well-enough documented compared to exynos.
tl;dr: ^ See topic text. ( I guess I would not have LTE here with that, but that's not a big issue at all. Coverage is horrible in Hungary anyway. )
A few shops* sell the 910C here as well, not just the F version.
Now I know that the Exynos version is faster, more power efficient.
And I guess all official updates will also reach this variant faster or pretty much with the same speed.
On the other hand, we have the Snapdragon, which got much more custom roms and section on XDA.
(Honestly it feels so weird that the 1.9ghz A57 can beat the S805 clocked at 2.7ghz in single-thread....)
Anyway. Personally, I used the S3, S4, Note 2, S4 Mini, Motorola phones... and every time I installed Cyanogenmod or other CM/AOSP-variant roms, it was riddled with bugs.
Don't get me wrong, the Note 2 have the DN4 Rom which is basically a Note 4 rom ported, and it's great. It's stable, it's got a few quirks, but it works.
But from that, it doesn't seem to be a good deal to trade speed, and power just for more roms. (Let alone Knox which I don't want to trip.)
Sooo... I would be pretty fine with the Exynos version.
But can I use it here?
* = all gsm shops are shady in the country, that's why I'm super-cautious.
Use Exynos in Hungary
If you mean just using it as a normal phone I don't see why not.
The type of processor will have no influence on the normal use of the phone. (as in calling, texting internet and email and such)
If you would want to root it and start working with custom ROMs it might not e the best idea. Most open source development is on the Snapdragon variant.
The AOSP ROMs have come a long way over the last couple of years. I experience hardly any bugs with the bigger devellopment teams.
All the best, Willem
Thank you! Well, I know the difference is tiny, but you cannot install roms and stuff without tripping KNOX anyway. It will be a business phone so I would like to keep my warranty.
Not sure if allowed, but please, excuse my bump.
I would like to order the phone as soon as possible.
So far I'm convinced that the Exynos will be fine for me.
But the main question remains. Can I use it in this country?
I tried to look up the chipset, the phone, everything - but there is just no information on what frequencies does it support / etc.
So I had a wild idea. Screenshot the box at unboxing on Youtube, so I can check.
Then I used this:
http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
That says it should work. What do you guys think?
