I mean their is a temporary charge in my account. But I don't know how long will they take it out the temporary charge. They already received my phone for RMA. Are they gonna inspect it first? Before lifting the charge? My phone is still under warranty.
they drop the charge even before you ship back your old phone. 4-5 days

But I already told them that the LG warehouse in Forth Worth TX had already received it today at 9 a.m,. and i said i have a tracking no. too that says it. . I have to wait for 3-5 days for them to take out the charge. sigh...

i think they have already dropped it but sometimes it takes couple of additional days to the bank to reflect it on your account.

What you have is called a pre-authorization. Essentially you are just giving Google permission to actually take the money from you account if needed. As far as the money returning to your account it is dependant on your card issuers policies. it is usually 5 business days. The best way to find out is to call you bank and ask them how long until a pre-authorization will expire. i.e. my bank, Navy Federal will hold the funds for 48 hours and if Google does not collect within that time it will return back to my available balance.
Why did you send the phone in first? As I understood it google does an advanced RMA, if not then why would you give them your credit card number? The credit card is essentially a deposit to guarantee you send back the old device but if you are sending the device in first there would be no need for the deposit.

When Google send the RMA device, it is possible to hand over the USPS guy the defected device? That way Google is instantly receive it and will not get hold on the amount.

No. They hold the money because until you ship the phone and they receive it, they have no way of holding you accountable. They hold the money before they ship the phone to you, so you shipping your phone to them first makes no difference.

Yes, that's called an advanced RMA. They send out the replacement and put a hold on your card, when you receive the replacement you send back your defective device. If google is doing something different and/or forcing people to pay for return shipping then their consumer division is even worse off than I thought.

Sorry to hear of your loss The refurbished phones I've received in the past have come in brown, generic looking boxes.
Not always the case. There are reports on xda that the refurbs that people have been getting have not been hardware locked. And even if it is there is a fix on the site for it. yep the best way to tell is when it comes in a brown generic box

Don't take my word on it, but i think that when you call Asurion's for a replacement they send you a new one, and the replacements under warranty are refurbished.
With your new replacement you might want to be extra careful with it. I was told on a phone I had to replace that it would no longer be covered under manufacturers warranty through T-Mobile and if you ever had any problems you would have to go through Asurion for any replacement. This was a few years ago so I am not sure if it is correct still or not but I thought I would give you a heads up from what they told me when I replaced a phone.

New phones come in new boxes with the tape still on them, since they have never been opened. It'll still have all the factory packaging on them, etc.
If your phone is on backorder, then you have a 99% chance of getting a new phone (I got 2 brand new replacements ).
If not, then you have maybe a 50% chance of getting a brand new phone.
Maybe you'll be lucky and get the phone I just sent back. Only thing that was wrong is that I locked myself out of it (it was a brand new replacement, locked myself out the next day ). I did put the purple cover on it to keep the black one, though, and it was hardware-locked XD

This is true. When I locked myself out of the replacement, it was through Asurion.
And the phone was backordered, so I had to wait almost two weeks to get a replacement.
But it was a replacement phone. Came straight from the factory, pretty much, judging by the date on the box (dated 3 days before I recieved it).
Odd thing is for my first replacement, they were backordered, but I got the phone the next day.

Useless info, because the deductible depends on the phone type. TP2 is a cheap, old phone compared to the Vibrant.
The deductible for Vibrants and G2s is $130 US.

I have gotten nothing but good service from the loyalty department. They have replaced phones less than a year into contract multiple times at the new activation price without insurance , given me tons of discounts like the 5gb plan for $20, taken off overage charges when I accidentally went over minutes, free tethering, and so on. I've been with them since 1999 when they were Powertel and it's nice to see a company that actually rewards loyalty. So I don't understand the complaints about their customer service. Verizon and AT&T treat you like they don't care if you leave from my experience.

Customer service will not have that information, they only keep records of what and when you purchased or upgraded an actual phone, they don't keep records of your accessories .....
If you ordered it online, you should be able to look it up in your orders section, on your account page, I forget where it is actually at , it is kind of hard to find but it is there ...
You can't expect them to track every accessory that people purchase, that is why you keep your receipts and or confirmation emails....
Personally I have never had an issue with Customer service, that was not quickly resolved by a supervisor or the loyalty department.

Honestly if they do not have your receipt in front of them they are bound by company policy the cannot go into your account unless you are physically in the store. if you try to speak to the store manager you might get better help. they can access your account, as long as you have the account password.

That is correct, but so can you, they see almost the exact same screen as you when they login with your password ...
If you're having difficulty with an accessory, you're pretty much on your own.
your receipt will tell you if you can do anything, but you're typically looking at 30 days for accessory exchanges. that kind of data doesn't get logged in your account, so don't waste time getting mad if you lost the receipt.
Outside of those 30 days, contact the manufacturer about their warranty coverage and handle it from there.
as for going into your accounts over the phone: they can if they want to but chances are there's people in store that need tending to, and if you want to get mad about that picture yourself on the receiving end, waiting in the store so the rep could get off the phone.
Look for help from the manufacturer and after years of therapy you might be able to live a normal life again
Type up 7171 kingery hwy, Willowbrook, IL in Google maps and read the reviews. Terrible but not rippable. Then I insisted when I bought the accessory on why they needed my phone number to make the sale, it remains a memory to be forgotten after I solve the problem with tmo

What do you mean spare battery and charger? Is this not the original battery? And where did you get it from exactly .. Like thru an exchange or in the store or some online site?

Usually accesories such as batteries abd etc have very limited warranties. I think batteries are good for 30 days but i might be wrong. Also csrs are obly able to see certain things. If you bought your phone online or through telesales, they might transfer you to them or you can always call the accesories dept abd theu can see your warranty for battery. Manufacturer is good though and may have exnteded warranties compared to carrier.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Actually the batteries and chargers on new phones have a 90 warranty that Tmobile can honor. After that the batteries cannot be replaced thru them but have to go thru the manufacturers under their 12 month warranty. The insurance and lifetime warranty do not extend the battery warranty either.
If it was an aftermarket battery ... Which it sounds like it is ... since the stores do not sell batteries... of course the stores or customer service reps would not have the warranty info ... obviously.
If the charger is what you are talking about and it was purchased in the store then like many other places there is a return date and usually have to have a receipt and after that i'm sure it falls back to the manufacturers warranty. No receipt then they really can't do much except look thru paper receipts one by one for a date and an around about time of day ... Which is usually guessed. But that's why they give those things out to keep .. So if you don't have it .. That's not on them.
Soooo you left out a lot of details with what exactly it was and what is going on.

Hi
I ordered a Nexus 7 last week and got the shipping email yesterday. Apparently UPS "delivered" it today, and by that I mean left it at the front door when I was not home. When I got back the package was nowhere to be found. I called UPS and they said they will call me tomorrow, since apparently the driver didn't indicate the apartment number where he supposedly dropped it off.
What I'm really mad about is that I can't get through to any google reps! Been on hold for 1.5 HOURS by the time I'm writing this post!
Any advice? Doesn't UPS require signature?
nope! the nexus 7 doesnt require a signature unless u asked for it to be signed! im sorry i feel for u

UPS's tracking site says:
"Residential deliveries that do not require a signature may be left in a safe place, out of sight and out of weather, at the driver's discretion. This could include the front porch, side door, back porch, or garage area. If you have instructed the driver to leave the shipment with a neighbor or leasing office, this would be noted on a yellow UPS InfoNotice left by the driver."
I guess I'll have to wait for them to call me back tomorrow, and continue to hold on the line for google. (WTF is wrong with their service center? I'm around the 2h mark and nobody has picked up the phone!)
That really sucks OP. Really feel for you.
Its possible that it was simply left at the entirely wrong address. That happened to me with my otterbox for my phone, and the owner of that house was kind enough to deliver the package to me himself.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
The package doesn't need to be insured for you to get help from UPS. I'm pretty sure you can file a lost package claim and they will do everything they can to check the paper trail to find the item. It could take like 2 weeks or more though but, normally they will try to resolve the issue.
If it was stolen then I'm not sure what to do about that. Home owners insurance could cover it since it was delivered.

I'm naturally assuming that it's stolen. But now that I think of it, that might not be true.
1. According to the delivery report, they left it at my door @ around 5:07pm. I was home @ 7:00pm. The difference is less than 2 hours.
2. UPS did mention that the driver didn't indicate the apartment # where he supposedly left the package.
3. I live in an apartment complex which is secured through a front door.

My call on Wednesday requesting an RMA exchange was less than 24 hours after I received the phone, well within 15 days. Anyhow, this is a warranty issue, which means I have a year, not 15 days.
If I haven't heard anything by middle of next week, I'll follow up with them, given the "less than a week" timeframe they quoted.

Isn't the warranty through lg? Meaning you will have to send it to lg for repair or replacement? Going through Google during the 15 day period let's you replace it through Google.
Ifvit is before the 15 days why is it a warranty issue?

Beats me. All I know is it's a defective unit, I called up Google support, and they're sending me a replacement. If at some point in the future Google tells me I need to talk to LG about defects, I'll talk to LG.
at least with the nexus 7, the benefit of buying from Google Play rather than buying from a store was that the play orders would be managed by Google if there was any warranty issues, whereas the store orders were managed by ASUS themselves.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you place an order for a replacement unit, RMA, Google places a hold for the full price of the phone on your account, in this case 384 dollars. Until the defective phone is returned, correct?
If so, are you guys with RMAs going to have an extra 384 taken out until you received the replacement.
I have a defective unit, my earpiece does not work, but I don't have an extra 384 dollars to let Google borrow while they send me a replacement unit god knows when.
Also, are RMAs brand new in box? Or refurbished units?

Beats me. All I know is it's a defective unit, I called up Google support, and they're sending me a replacement. If at some point in the future Google tells me I need to talk to LG about defects, I'll talk to LG.

I'm just gonna do my replacements with AMEX for the first 90 days if anything goes wrong, then I'll use T-Mobile's Premium Handset Protection.

Yes they hold your money, and they will send you a brand new one. Remember 1 thing though if you wanna replace than you have only 15days

This early, they would be new but once they have refurb stock in then expect refurbs.
They're brand new. Google wants the box with all your accessories when you send it back.

Someone had mentioned in another thread that they heard there were multiple people on this forum with the same issue as me. I tried the search function but wasn't able to figure out who else had this happen =/. I've seen the same thing happen during the Nexus 7 launch.
Basically I ordered two 16gb devices during the second order date, but when I received it I noticed they were both only 8gb . The IMEI # on my receipt (indicating 16gb) matches that on the box (indicating 8gb). I powered on one of them and I confirmed it was indeed it was 8gb. I contacted google, who basically said I will need to wait 6 weeks if I want the 16gb...
If this happened to you, how was it resolved? What else can I do in my situation?
But what did google say to the issue of ordering the 16 and getting an 8 instead? Telling you that if you want a 16 you'll have to wait 6 weeks does not address your issue. Did they refund you and or charge you for an 8 instead? Did they say they would send you an 8 instead of what you ordered?
If not, I would demand they send you what you ordered. Especially if they pulled a switch onu with authorization.
I don't see why u have to wait 6 weeks for their f.... Up mistake. They have tons stock for defect replacement call them and demand it

Well of course they apologized for the error, which doesn't exactly solve anything -__-. At first I was told I would need to ship both phones back and they will process the refunds and then I can go through the reorder process again. I claimed that it was unreasonable I have to go to the end of the line and wouldn't have a phone to use. So they said I can keep using it for now.
I was sent a shipping label and told, "I was told that the estimated return time is up to 6 weeks. Please let me know if you would like to keep the device--return the device for the correct device----or--get a refund." What's the best option for me? I wonder if they will send me the devices first, because I'm afraid if I ship it back they might end up issuing me a refund and no device... or make me wait 6 weeks!

ask them if you can keep devices until they send the 16gb ones.
This is the second thread I've seen where this happened, as usual google customer service is useless.
First, make sure the serial numbers on the receipt match the devices. If they do, call up, say you have rattling and speaker buzz in both units (and you probably do!!).
Request an RMA for both devices. They have stock set aside just for defects/RMAs.
Once you receive the replacements, make sure both are 16GBs then ship then back.
Google shouldn't make you wait 6+ weeks for their fvck up when they have replacement stock sitting right there!

Wouldn't be surprised. I see a lot of threads of users exchanging their devices because of their own fault and the silliest things that don't need to be rma in the first place

I just called Google and requested an RMA because of a faulty mic. If you are with in your 15 day return period, you can do this.
They said I would get my replacement with in 3-5 days, and they emailed me a return label before I hung up. Told me to send back my phone once I get the replacement. Once I get the replacement, I have 21 days to send them back the bad one.

You might be waiting a while a very good friend of mine dirtyhamster has been waiting for 2 weeks and still doesn't have it. She was recently told all Rma's are on bo. But then just yesterday another pre-auth hit her card so maybe they got more RMA stock. Good lunch and I hope u get it sooner than later. BTW there is a RMA thread where u can probably get better info than with me.
