So lately I've noticed that my phone has been overheating. Is this common? Or should I return it?

Mine has been getting quite hot as well, but not overheating to the point of reboot
mine has probably been the coolest running phone i've ever had! is your battery draining quickly? if it is then you probably have a couple rogue apps. if you're rooted BetterBatteryStats and Wakelock Detector may be able to track down the apps quickly for you!

I've had this phone for just under a week. I'm rooted, but running stock. Is Google Services supposed to be using this much battery (more than the screen)? The screen had 2 hours and 44 minutes.
Thanks for any assistance!

My Android System uses #1. I guess they are glitches. Samsung Link was using #2 until I disabled it.

Yeah, now today Google services is way down from where it was. Strange. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. My battery life is still amazing...

I noticed the same thing the first couple of days I had the phone and then it stopped. Possible uploading backups to google?
I never had the issue just like many of you dont see this Android System taking up all the cpu. I wonder if that's caused by me having my GPS on and set to show my location at all times so my close friends can locate me.

stop using your phone and it wont get hot. heat is normal when you use it. there are too many factors that contribute to how hot the phone gets, including the weather around you.
Also.. 1000000% sure that its in your head.

Actually i don't find it any different from JWR66V in daily usage ! so heat is as it was !

you dont have an issue with heat on your gnex. first off, the safety temp for the gnex is much higher. cpu temps in the 70-80C range is normal for a gnex, and its safety shutdown temp is 110C. i really doubt that you are seeing temps around there.
As the title states, my battery life has struggled mightily today. Check out my pics, what do you think could be causing this?

dude 3 hours awake time out of 5...thats an issue. you've got a wake lock somewhere. download wake lock detector

the 1positive with mine so far is the battery. i go all day (12-14hrs) with moderate use and still have 30% charge when i plug it in.
That's terrible. You got an app freaking out. I noticed a huge drop in battery life when I put on a different sms app.

Thanks guys, I installed the wakelock app. I will see what's going on.

Install better battery stats.....maps and partial wakelocks seems to be killing you battery. BBS would give u a better indication of whats eating your battery

Not sure what the issue is yet, I was charging my phone. Now I took it off the charger and have better battery stats installed. I will monitor it and let you know.

Held awake for 3 hours because your screen was on for almost that long. Right?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
one thing that really kills this battery is the setting under location access "wifi and mobile network location" if you have that enabled google services keep the phone awake and drain the battery. I disabled that and my battery last so much longer now.
Well guys, something is still eating my battery alive. I went to bed with over 40% battery and I woke up with 7% left.
Here are my screenshots from better battery stats. Can anyone figure out what's eating me alive?

NLP-Network Location Process-seems to be your biggest issue. My best bet would be settings>accounts>Google>google+>location

Yeah, good tip. If that doesnt work, go to Maps and disable history and location reporting as well. Might want to disable Wifi and mobile network location under the global location settings as well. This prevents other programs from eating up battery trying to access location when GPS is off. Restart your phone after diasbling any of these, then check battery life
Ok guys, here is how my battery has been doing since I made the changes that everyone suggested. Am I in good shape?

Lol nice. The only complaint that I have about this is that I had to turn off every single location based setting in the phone. I've never had to do that on my previous phones. It never drained like this on my S4 with those settings on.
The root of my complaint is that I can't even get weather updates on my widget because it is all turned off. And I always like to have the weather widget on my main screen. Which single setting can I turn on to get weather updates? I will leave the other ones off.

Power management wakelocks in the kernel is a placeholder for partial wakelocks. Look at the partial wakelock list for details. I had a terrible *backup* partial wakelock that had a start count of 3000 within 8 hrs!!! It was killing my bat. Check yours, it might be that same if its not the location wakelocks acting up again
Just wondering if this seems right. I'm a pretty heavy user, and sometimes I have pretty good battery life, and then other times I'm charging twice a day. Running plain ole non rooted stock.

I have the same issue as you
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
Since you're rooted I would download Greenify from the play store if you haven't already and use that. It will help. Also GPS from Google Now gives a lot of wakelocks and drains the battery a decent amount. I would turn off your GPS whenever you're not using it.
I'm not rooted. And I do actually have GPS turned off. I also have a lot of things that I don't use disabled.
I want to root, but can't at the moment because of lack of computer..
My search for a computer less root option is a constant failure.

Stock G2, AT&T. Running KitKat latest update.
Since KK arrived, I've had major battery drain by bluetooth. I leave bluetooth off, but it is always the highest power user in standby. Anyone else have this, or know how to fix it?

the way I see Bluetooth is now like wifi even when it's off it's on but since it's in a low energy state it really shouldn't be draining your battery I've easily gotten 15+ hours while actually using the Bluetooth to play games with my moga controller and using my deck
I have the same issue.. im stock t-mobile on kit kat... and im currently getting the same amount of battery i was getting on my lg nexus 5.. which kind of sucked.. I dont think theres a fix yet

Maybe Phone Carrier
I think it's maybe related to your carrier too. They change something in the ROM to make compatible with network then release to your phone. For International and Korean Version is ok. But can you try to reset, if the problem still exist?
I have sprint and have been dealing with same issue since kk update. I don't even use bluetooth, always off, but yet saying keep awake 5hrs on a battery cycle.
I only experience it when I have wifi on at the same time, its weird.
From my experience on my phone, it's just a wrong reporting. Even with BT allegedly draining according to the battery stats, my battery life is still the same as before.
