Gt-i9500 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really want the octa-core chip set. But I can't seem to find accurate specs for this phone. Some sites say it does support all the LTE bands others say, not supported at all. I am on Rogers in Canada, currently with a gt-i9305 with lte. I want lte and the octave core. But can fond for certain the gt-i9500 will have LTE or not.

Unless you get the korean version. LTE will not be included with the octa core to other countries.
At this time Sansung has not choosen to support LTE in octa core phones. That may change down the road but as of shipping dates for April and May LTE version is the snapdradon Quad core.
Rogers will be gettiing the AT&T versions with rigers branding.

No I want to buy carrier out right unbranded and nothing that is available listed at a 9500 has lte is that correct. Does the Korean version have a different number 950?....?

link? That would be awesome even without the ability to use the LTE as long as it supports us carrier bands (Galaxy S2 Korean version didn't support the AT&T bands)
At&t lte is nothing to sniff at. You get throttled after 2-6gigs which is about a day's usage on LTE..

The model comes with an electronic pen. The pre-order price is W456,300 (US$1=W1,157) based on a two-year plan for W62,000 a month.

Would like to know if this will work on AT&T's HSPA+ and LTE networks. Thanks in advance.

I'd bet it it's in the range of 700-750 us. Just like every other note it's.

I'm not so sure. When it comes to Brazil, for example, it'll have the same price as every other high-end cellphone: BRL2,000. Being 1US$ = 1,80BRL, that's around US$1,100. Not even close =/

The Korean note is supposed to have Lte. Note that, like 3g/4g, Lte consists of many bands so there is no assurance that the Korean lte note will work with usa LTE networks.

You are right. Chances are that they wont be compatible with ATT LTE bands.
Even verizon and att are not compatible.
Verizon and AT&T both run their LTE networks in the 700-MHz band. But Verizon's network is mostly in 746-787MHz, while AT&T's will be primarily in 704-746MHz.
There will be a smalll band where they overlap.
So if we can find out what LTE bands korean phones are then , we can decide.
However since LTE Is not widely available, people will still have to depend on 3G.
So 3G compatiblity is must too..
EDIT : just found out that LTE band in korea is in the 2.3GHz region. SO NO COMPATIBILITY.

Ok but does it have T-Mobile HSPA+ compatibility? Because that would be good enough for me. Need a Note with 1700 band.
Any confirmation on what processor the LTE version is using? If it's the same 1.5Ghz Snapdragon that is in the Skyrocket I wouldn't want it for driving the high resolution Galaxy Note.

Preorder for S III LTE starts in Hong Kong

Today Samsung has released the details of SGSIII LTE and Galaxy Note 2 in Hong Kong. (But I'm more interested in S III), and preorder of both devices has started. Here are some notable points of it:
CPU: 1.4GHz quad-core (Sammy hasn't stated the model of the cpu, but it's likely to be exynos, i think)
RAM: 2GB
OS: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Radio: 4G LTE 800/1800/2600MHz + 2G, 3G and 3.5G
Color:Black and Silver. Yes! Black and Silver
Link(if you really want to see it. it's in Chinese:http://www.samsung.com/hk/galaxys3lte_preorder/)
It seems to be similar to the European GT-i9305 and Australian GT-i9305T. But on the page sammy stills called it i9300, which is confusing. So what do you think?
And it's not carrier-branded, and very likely to be international. So we're going to have really International models
(and most importantly, I've to think what device I'm going to buy again)
Ugh. Need an unlocked compatible with at&t lte. When samsung when?
need more high def music...
all phones in hong kong are unlocked, it is illegal to lock a phone in hong kong without proper reasons.
How's the LTE service in HK, nobody I know has LTE capable device.

A few carriers offer LTE in Hong Kong, but only one carrier (CSL) seems to be offering dual band LTE (1800 and 2600 mhz) as far as I know of. However, given the ridiculous population density and smartphone ownership percentage in Hong Kong, you are bound to get slowdowns from time to time.

majority of the hong kong's service providers like 3HK and pccw are preparing to support 1800, there are limitations on the 2600 bandwidth.
and the support of 1800 will be cheaper to upgrade.

quad core working in US

Can I by a quad core version of this phone off of ebay and still use it with my US Verizon contract.
Maybe it cna be unlocked or something.
Im sure this has been asked,
thanks
chris
International version is usually unlocked, so find out before purchasing. You can't use it with Verizon, but you can use it with T-Mobile or at&t. You won't be able to enjoy lte though, this model lacks the radio. Check out the I9305.

The international version won't support Verizon or Sprint and it won't work on T-Mobile's 3G network (but will work on their GSM/EDGE network) and none of the US carriers support i9305's LTE bands (800, 1800, 2600), so the only option is to use it with AT&T's 3G network.

Which unlocked variant has LTE band 4 & 17?

I'm interested in the fully factory unlocked GS4, but want it to be compatible on either AT&T or tmobile's 4G LTE speeds. I checked the model they are selling at expansysUSA website: http://www.expansys-usa.com/samsung-galaxy-s-4-smartphone-black-mist-16gb-unlocked-247538/
But it doesn't have LTE support (the GT-9500 model). Doesn't anyone know which unlocked variant is the compatible one to get to be compatible on either AT&T or tmobile's LTE bands?
The Canadian variants will be as close to stock as possible and will work on band 4/17. I could not find any other model that will support those.
I would look for the Telus or Bell variants once they are shipping.

Cool, but the Canadian carriers are going to offer the 32GB, or at least Vodafone said they weren't. I wonder if Telus or Bell will?

Shv-e300s + lte!!?

Hi,
I'm about to get SG-S4!!
I read through the forum, didn't find a sold answer if SHV-E300S with Exynos 5 (Octa) will work with LTE in US!
Can anyone please let us know...
Thanks
It won't, the bands aren't supported. It won't work in the EU either.

If you want to:
-Pay 200 dollars more expensive(import tax + local seller commission)
-Have a bigger size(korea version is thicker than us one) and have stupid korea restriction(sms limitation, etc...)
-Take a phone who only support Korea 4G frequency and imcompatible with all other country
You can surely go for this version. No problem!!!

Hi, since you have the korea version, please show us more pictures about its size, what difference does he have other than the fact he get overclocked processor and compatible LTE? Some physical difference? Bigger than us one? Thicker? Some restrictions? Do you mean that with your app, you can use 4G LTE in the US and in other countries? Also where did you buy your phone? How much does it cost? Thank you.
The overclocked processor settings was dropped before it's release. It's now 4 cores at 1.6 and 4 cores at 1.2. I'm guessing because of heat issues.
Just doing a backup will make the phone heat up quick. Plus, the battery life isn't good.
I should have waited two more months before buying a S4.
I too want to have the octa core S4 with LTE to use in the US and don't want to settle for anything less. Some sources say that the S4 Exynos octa-core supports 20 LTE bands, but often responses from people say that the Korean LTE S4 won't work with US LTE bands. Wiki contains some info on the S4 and LTE bands but I'm a noob so it's not clear to me why it is a definite no for LTE in the US.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S4
SHV-E300/ - Korean with 3 variations: K, L and S
K: GSM, DCS
L: CLR, IMT
S: CLR, DCS
GT-I9505 - International version
800, 850, GSM, 1800 MHz, IMT, IMT-E
SGH-I337 - AT&T
700 MHz (Band 17), AWS, IMT, IMT-E
SGH-M919 - TMobile
700 MHz (Band 17), CLR, AWS, PCS, IMT, IMT-E
I'm targetting to use the S4 on Tmobile LTE. So according to that info Tmobile supports 6 LTE bands, some of which are also listed under the K, L and S variations of the Korean S4. To me that sorta implies that Tmobile LTE would work, but then I'm a noob and not sure how that works out. I don't know how reliable the Wiki info is so it'll be great to know. I've also seen sources that say the Korean S4 supports LTE bands 1/4/7/17. The info are scattered around and carriers don't specifically release these info so that makes things even harder.
But assuming the wiki info is reliable, if you can explain how it works or not work would you please enlighten the rest of us. Thanks.
