South Korea's SGS2

Seeing that the UK models will not be getting NFC, has anyone thought of ordering from Korea? Or in general is anyone considering ordering from a Korean seller?

Why would you do that unless your local frequencies are South Korea's CDMA...meaning you'd be in South Korea.

Our country provide WCDMA/CDMA service.
WCDMA Band cairrer are below.
SKTelecom (2100 Mhz)
Korea Telecom (2100 Mhz)
CDMA band carrier is below
LG U+ (1800 Mhz)
But, Our local galaxy s radio band spec is poor then EU galaxy s2.

if you purchased in our SKT galaxy S 2 model (SHW-M250S),
may be you can't receive MMS. because our carrier SKTelecom using
their own MMS format. (SK-MMS)
Most of world using OMA-MMS.
So it will occur many sms, mms problems.
and our service porvider (SKT, KT) they enjoyed add a many many bloat ware.(Service program).
it will occur a tons of system hang and reset problem.
As a result, i recommend that if you purchased galaxy s2,
wait a your country's carrier galaxy s2( like captivate or fascinate) nor buy the EU galaxy s2.
So, I can't recommend our korea's galaxy s2.
I'll buy a EU Galaxy s2.

Yeah I got carried away with the thought that I could get the Korean SGS2 have all the same bands and get the NFC. Didn't think through it all the way and forgot that Korea uses different services.

The UK version doesnt seem to have NFC in it. Most of the retailers just take the specs off Samsung's site. Wish it were true tho.

Where did you get this information?
According to the specs posted online at several web sites the SK version has support for all of the same bands.
Also, if SK's mms tech was not compatible with other carriers, how would the phone be able to send and recieve mms messages once roaming and relying on another carriers protocols? Can you please post a source of your information, it contradicts everything I've seen online (and common sense when it comes to mms).

The con's you mentioned here aren't much of a problem. Most of the world still uses triband gsm and having a quad band won't do much of good and how many of us really uses mms when we are using emailing or video calling!!
If you see the pro's they is NFC which is gonna be must feature in all smart mobile in future. Next gen samsung mobile is having NFC in all the models. So isn't it cool to have right now than later? well there are lot of apps in android for fm, so having a native fm on mobile is pointless. And DMB is an extra asset too. last but not the least bloatware can be removed in many ways as like rooting
So what do you think guys?

I also think about this model in this way. I think pro's that this unit has are stronger than the con's that "we think" do exist in the mobile. MMS bug is useless as we are using Email and other apps like ChatON, WhatsApp etc. Also there are plenty of FM apps which are capable of streaming online. I don't know about others, this is how I feel.
Even if you feel this software doesn't fit to you, or MMS is really a bug for you, you can anytime change to I9100 firmware at the cost of loosing NFC and DMB (Even after changing I saw that there is a workaround for NFC)

[Q] Pre-ordered I9500 - LTE question

I just confirmed my back-order for the I9500 (and the product description is mentioning LTE eu which I believe means Europe). However, I'm a T-mo subscriber.
Does any one know if T-mo will support the European LTE (or in other words - will the I9500 will work with T-mo or AT&T LTE network?)

Hi! Us Tmobile User Here! Sadly no. The i9500 does not come equipped with 4g LTE chips. Mainly due to Europe's lack of a reliable network. The i9505(international) on the other hand does support LTE, so does the us version (SGH-M919). But buying one of these phones is somewhat of a waste knowing there could be compatibility issues with your network. In simple terms, stick with you i9500. HSPA+ IS NOT BAD. On paper it has a 42mbits max while LTE IS A WHOPPING 100MBITS. But the problem is paper stats dont translate well into everyday. Many times i find my self enjoying faster speeds on my HSPA+ phone then my LTE friends, variables like network congestion and signal strengrh can all factor into this. So yeah, stick with your I9500, the lack of LTE will only save you battery:laugh:!

I think that the lack of LTE for the i9500 is now updated. This is the spec from the website I've ordered the i9500 from:
Network: 2.5G (GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE): 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz; 3G (HSPA+ 42Mbps): 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 MHz; 4G (LTE Cat 3 100/50Mbps) : up to 6 different band sets(Dependent on market)

Processor: 1.6 GHz Octa-Core Processor
OS: Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)
(they had the rest of the spec, cam, etc. but its not relevant for this thread).

AFAIK there won't be compatibility issues because the GT-I9505 will support all global LTE frequencies and standards. And what you said about LTE in Europe is wrong. There is a "reliable" network in Europe but it works on other frequencies than in US and moreover most countries in Europe will get the GT-I9505 version only. What you said was the case with the SGS3 but now the Exynos version (GT-I9500) will be officially in only few Europe countries.

Negative. I spoke to them and had them look up the exact model with their procurement. The version they are getting is sourced from South America and DOES NOT have LTE despite it saying so on their website. It appears that many websites have made this same mistake because like Expansys they have simply reposted Samsungs description but it does not discern between the Korean version which is an Octa with LTE and the rest of the (announced) Octa variants which do not have LTE.

International phones are on International Baseband. US phones are on us baseband. If they were the same then there would be no US-International. It would just be one baseband. So i doubt it will but you can still be open to possibilities.

Just remember, buying international phones is a PAIN for warranty. So be careful.

I've seen that, but their descriptions are really confusing. Some marked LTE, some marked LTA (not sure what that means), and some are marked just GT-i9500. Those which are marked just GT-i9500 say that they come with a quad-core, which should not be; the GT-i9500 is supposed to be octa-core. GT-i9505 is quad-core.
Which is which? Also, there are 16, 32, 64GB versions on the website; I doubt we will be seeing something higher than the 16GB version for the release.
Also, if I order the octa-core version. When will I get it, approximately?

I have a standard 3uk 3g micro sim card in my international GS3. Can I use this card in an LTE enabled GS3. Is the LTE device backward compatable. I don't expect to get LTE coverage I just need to know if my sim will work as normal in an LTE device.

Yeah it is. If there's no 4G it should revert to whats next available such as 3G

Look what F240S can has in attachment. So I think it supports 1900 band. As well as F240K. And F320S/F320K will work with 1900 to

However I am torn between which band would be more useful to me, 850 or 1900 (I live in a rural area). I can live with 3G but not 2G,
UPDATE: A G2 with model number F320S was listed on eBay saying it supports HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100 in the description. I messaged the seller to make sure it was not a mistake, and he assured me that the device does support these 3G frequencies and that it would get 3G signal on carriers Canada.

Just got this phone. I am in US and need to know where you went to get those setting. Currently only getting 3G

What carrier are you with? You should only get 3G, since none of the LTE variants that work in the US are released yet.

Yes thank you, I am getting 3G on AT&T. Battery is very cooperative on 3G. Every time I dial a voice call the phone thinks I am in Korea ...can not find any setting in phone for region, any chance you might know how to change regions? The phone is very ergonomic, probably the moist ergonomic I have used.

MoreLocale 2 in the app store seems to do the trick but I don't have an lg g2 to test it. I guess you need to root it first and grant superuser permissions because of the way jellybean handles it.I came up with this thru a couple Google searches so its untested.
I'm tempted. I'm on straight talk in the USA. If it worked, tell me as a thanks cause I kinda want to get it. I wonder if it supports tmobiles hspa+42 network. I use a T-Mobile straight talk sim card...., it runs off of T-Mobile's network but I pay straight talk but no LTE.

I will give it a try. First I need root, do you know where I can get root for the LG G2?

I can confirm the LTE 2600 supported. I'm using the SK version in Hong Kong and can use both LTE 1800 and LTE 2600 with this phone.

Dial 5457#*320# and look for Band selection menu. Don't tinker with it, just make please screenshots 4 us pressing and holding "power+vol.down"
Then LTE channels screenshots will be appreciated too. The more the better

If S4 history repeats itself the ATT buyers will be stung with crappy locked bootloaders. Meanwhile the TMO device is pentaband and unlocked bootloader. Depending on battery life benchmarks the only sane decision is between TMO Note 3 and the international N3.

Regarding your question, I opted for the T-Mobile version. Location will determine network performance...

Not to hijack the thread but does anyone know which one would be compatible for Wind/Mobilcity (Aws Canadian Market)?
Note 3 from At&Tor T-Mobile... in the past I believe T-Mobile phones are compatible because of 1700 and 2100 frequencies... however due to T-Mobile refarming (I have limited knowledge about it) and new frequencies.... would an At&t note 3 be modified to work on aws

To my knowledge, the international Note 3 does not have LTE radios. It has an octacore instead of quad but thats the trade off.

There are two models: one is the octa-core with no LTE. The other is Snapdragon 800 with LTE. However, both will only get HSPA+ on AT&T (anywhere) and HSPA+ on T-Mobile (in refarmed areas). The international LTE model won't get US LTE because we don't use the same LTE bands as they do in Europe.
In the US, if you're on a GSM network the best model to get is the T-Mobile model, even if you're on AT&T. It works 100% with AT&T and T-Mobile (refarmed areas or not) and has an unlocked bootloader.

I apologize to bring up an old thread, but I figured I'd ask it here as opposed to starting yet another thread.
Do you know if the Tmobile Note 3 is pentaband (i.e., like the Nexus 4/5)? I'm planning to use it outside of the US and just need to know if it can get 3G in European countries.
A poster above mentioned that the Tmobile Note 3 version is pentaband, but googling for the answer to this has yielded no solid results.

Yes. 850/900/1800/1900 on EDGE, and 850/[900 isn't mentioned but I assume it's there]/1700/1900/2100 for HSPA+. It should work fine.
EDIT: Confirmed 900 MHz is there. Look at the last post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536817
Europe uses 900 and 2100 MHz for HSPA+ mainly. Both are supported. The AT&T version would also work fine, but the T-Mobile version is the best one to get because of the unlocked bootloader and additional AWS support (1700 MHz), which T-Mobile uses in the US. N9005 - LTE Problem

Hello geniuses!
Before anyone asks, I have already tried the search function and was unable to get any pertinent results!!
I have a n9005 unbranded factory unlocked phone that I purchased through a retailer in Singapore. I absolutely love this phone it is such a beast!
However, I am having a problem with the handset. I am with telus up here in Canada and I am unable to connect to their LTE network. I called customer service to ensure that LTE is enabled on my plan and it is. I am getting HSPA+ speeds and I am able to make voice calls just fine, but I bought this phone thinking I would have LTE enabled on it.
Now from my understanding, the snapdragon 800 chipset has LTE bands that support numerous networks. However, since this is a phone from Singapore it may only have Singapore LTE bands enabled. Is there a way to change it so that it recognizes Canadian bands, more specifically Telus' LTE network?
I read that by flashing a new modem or csc I would be able to get LTE speeds, is this the case? If so, can some one guide me in the right direction on how to do this as I am a complete noob!

Singapore uses the 1800 and 2600 LTE bands, Telus only the 1700 band. You're using a phone that doesn't even see your LTE band...

That's why I asked if it's possible to flash a different modem on the phone that will enable the 1700 band?

if u havea 4g enabled device such as note 3 model number n9005 then u can use 4g untill its frequency is not supported.... the supported frequencies are not software based.. the are hardware based andcannot be changed.... note 3 n9005 supports LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 and note3 n900w8 supports LTE 700 / 1900 / 2100 ... if ur carrier transmits on frequency other than these then us device is useless.... many people buy these devices only because it has 4g but they arenot even aware of supported frequencies so u all must research properly before buying....
