Your link shows people are working on it at least for those rooted. Now if we could get it for those that are not rooted it would be great.

Yeah don't think that's gonna happen, unless Samsung miraculously decides to offer us it sometime (i.e. never). Why would you not root your phone though? I mean you could always triangle away and revert to stock if you're claiming warranty or something. If you need those extra goodies, rooting is a must.

I don't root mostly because I can't afford the possibility that the device could be bricked due to my not understanding or doing the wrong thing even though I am quite computer literate having worked on computers professionally and as a hobby since the mid 70's and have built and sold computer systems over the years.

No, because then who are the dumb a$$es going to blame and bug if it does not work, or breaks something.
Not a smart idea for a dev to post something that they are not sure of, and possibly have people lose faith in that developer. I know as a dev I would not post ANYTHING, that I was not sure if it worked or not. Even if I did it on a test unit, and not a retail phone.

Send me the stock boot image please so I can root it.
Mark.
Unless you're going to install a custom ROM, it's not as important anymore to root these phones.
The SIII lets you uninstall [disable] almost any stock app you want.
After disabling a ****-load of stock apps, I am getting awesome battery & performance from my S III.
I'd like to see some theming and custom ROM's and overclocking though of course.

Eh, that's debateable. In the end it boils down to what you want to do with the device. For me? I want root so I can reinstall Cerberus to the System folder so even if someone wipes my phone, I can still track it. Can't do that without root.

Actually most of the AT&T stuff can be disabled. The only thing I really can't disable is AT&T Address Book. Other than that? Every AT&T App (all 5 of them) was able to be disabled.....so I'm not sure what you speak of.

Yea, this is actually the first AT&T Smartphone where I haven't cursed them out for the amount of bloatware installed. Granted I did immediately load Apex Launcher to tide me over until I can install CM9. I hate how touchwiz looks, but that's not AT&T, that's Samsung. This thing honestly speeds along, especially with websites. I'm also apparently in an LTE test area.....with a piss poor signal I was pulling about a 20mbit download and 13 mbit upload. I have to say, it's faster and more responsive than my GSII with CM9. That's impressive considering it is running TW.
Also from looking at his posts he did order it....so he could be using the GNex until he can. Though this pretty much is the GNex....just not running stock Android.

Just wondering if you all are going to flash CM when they make it or another AOSP?
I know it will come soon especially since the Nexus 5 will have similar specs as with the 9005

I've owned Android since the good old days of the Google G1.
I don't think I've seen 1 version of CM that ran perfectly, no ROM was ever 'finished'.... so I'll be staying away from them from now on.
I'm actually probably NOT going to root my Note 3, can't see what I need to root it for tbh.

My first was the original galaxy i7500 but my cm experience was on the milestone 2 then g2x.
I really like cm when a device is no longer supported by their respective companies.
When I had the nexus 4, I used the latest cm 10.2 nightlies because to me the stock AOSP was lacking a few functions.
The note 3 has its own set of functions that I don't think we will ever see on CM.
However, would be very nice to have a dual booting system so I could flip flop between the two.

If the s4 has it, I am sure the note 3 900 will get it too.
One the biggest reasons for getting the 9005 was because I wanted to stick with a SOC that is easier for devs to work with.
Especially about a year from now when Sammy releases the note 5 and forgets about the note 3, we can at least update to the latest Android with CM

I usually run Paranoid Android on all my devices, but my experience with stock/rooted Note 3 so far has been fantastic, so I'm probably just going to run with things as is for the time being. Once PA releases I'll probably have to reevaluate though ;p

I kinda feel the same, I bought a few apps recently because it's not rooted. and these apps I'm happy to support because I use them on a daily baisis, like business calendar, poweramp, mx player etc. but I do find root useful for ntfs micro sdcard, especially when a file is bigger than 10GBs.
but what I really liked about a custom rom was editing minor things, having 8 icons along the screen horizontally. instead of what right now, 4? also all apps are HUGE dpi. I feel like when I load my mail. every mother fcker can read it from 5 metres away from me lol..
Ill Probably try it but wont stay with it. Lately on my s4 ive been preferring modded TW roms and will probably continue that with the N3

Not Cyano itself, but I'm waiting for an AOSP derivate, SlimBean.
I don't want to even see Samsung's bloatware ever again.
I'm done with rooting and adding ROMs. I've rooted just about every phone I've owned, and they've never ran 100%. Something always had an issue and not running properly. Today's phone are almost perfect anyway. The Note 3 is bad ass just the way it is! If I do anything to it, it's maybe using Themer to give it a fresh look, but that's it?

I have been pretty impressed with the performance of the GN3 even after rooting. I am also using the s-pen functionality a lot more than i anticipated. I doubt there is any need to go the CM route.
A little off point, but someone mentioned they hadnt rooted yet. I had gone a week without rooting and was fine, but i had to root for tethering (havent installed an app yet though). So far, i have also included quite a bit of additional apps for the Pen Window - VERY handy.
I just need a ROM that will allow tethering.

I'm here, my friend. Just waiting to see what devs do with this tab. It's lower-end, but it's snappy and feels premium. I hope we can get some CM action on this bad boy. Depends on the popularity, but I think the price point should help a lot.

I think part of the reason there's no one here is because you can't find this tablet anywhere but a few brick-and-mortar Best Buy stores right now. Wow. Can you post a guide?
Sure thing.
Here is towel root https://towelroot.com
Download the app a day run it, will give you root. After that download supersu from the market and run it.
Download xposed from here http://repo.xposed.info
I think latest stable is 2.6.1.
After that you can download the g3 tweak from the market. The g3 and 10.1 are very similar rom wise, I've been able go use some of the theme tweaks (every one tried has worked, but can't guarantee all of it works since it's for the g3)

I grabbed a 7" and hoping this picks up. Also a separate forum if necessary
I can confirm that this works. I even picked up an app from the play store that allows you to add any app to the duel windows. Ive wanted that function ever since i got this device! I havnt played with the framwork too much but seems to work.
I guess the only thing missing is a custom recovery. Any insight on that anybody?
BTW, towel root was the easiest root ever. One click app. No hooking up to a computer.

Flex multi window mod
I got one and i rooted it with towelroot with no problem. Even installed flex multi window app and works fine. The only problem is that it doesn't support NTFS usb sticks. I don't have any FAT32 right now to try but i'll search if it's possible to add NTFS support.
coming soon my 7.0 !!
Can someone please see if you can enable Chromecast's screen mirroring after rooting the 10.1 by using the Mirror Enabler app?
I greatly appreciate it.
I just got the gpad 7.0 from att with the G3 bundle for 99cents. Im trying to decide if I want to keep it or return. The screen quality isn't all that great. I also couldn't root it with towelroot as it says its not supported. I wish there were more activity in the forums for the g pads too.
Update: I was able to successfully root the G Pad 7.0 At&t version using purpledrake. LG-V410
I got my mom a like new g pad 7.0 off ebay for nice price but didn't realize it's the At&T version. We are just going to use it with Wi-Fi. That shouldn't be a problem right?
also, is there a way to stop the pad from asking for sim card besides turning on airplane mode? thank you

Plasma kernel beta testers

'Tis the season for Plasma!
After weeks of development, I will soon be needing some beta testers for the Note 4 version of Plasma kernel. Sprint TW variants only right now. PM me if you are interested, and when I have something ready I will contact you.
This version of Plasma kernel is entirely new and based on Note 4 sources, with many ported features completely rewritten from the ground up. As such, right now it still lacks some features from the existing (Note 2) Plasma kernel.
Oh oh Santa aka ffolkes has come with an amazing gift it's so awesome your building ur kernel for note4 thanks so much

Looks like I greatly underestimated how many bugs and features I had left to work on. So, here we are, like 2 months later...
Here is a beta version of Plasma kernel for the Sprint Note 4 (SM-N910P) ONLY. I have only tried it on TouchWiz version NIE, but it should work for NK2 as well.
Instructions:
Nandroid at least your boot and system partition.
Flash this: http://www.plasmakernel.com/downloads/trltespr/plasmakernel_v0-10_trltespr_kk_tw.zip
Clear cache/dalvik if you want, you probably don't have to.
Boot. Rarely it may immediately reboot once after the Samsung logo. I do not yet know why this happens.
For now you must manually disable Samsung's DVFS via Xposed (Wanam, etc) or similar. Don't reboot yet. In the future there will be support for hardlimit.
Download Synapse from the Play store.
Go to the "Utilities" tab and disable mpdecision and thermal-engine.
Now reboot.

Yes. The link was above, but my server is down at the moment due to sudden hard drive failure. I will be posting a new beta in a day or so. It is more stable.
I have put SO much work into this kernel, I hope people like it. The changelog (still unposted) is huge - It contains entirely new features from my wacky mind, as well as total rewrites of features from the Note2. I have gone to lengths to try to make it modular so I can maintain new features for the Note2 and Note4, and hopefully a tablet if I can ever afford one.

Rooting will not change the phone experience in any way... Swapping ROMs improve it though.
Welcome to the Note 4, I'm sure you'll love it!
Let us know how your experience goes.
I really love my Note 4. I am currently running Infamous ROM 2.8 and the performance is incredible. It blows the stock ROM out of the water.
Welcome to a real camera
I'm in a similar situation. Came from using a nexus 4. Not sure if I want to root or which Samsung apps people tend to turn off and which they find useful. Fun stuff though. I think I'm gonna wait for lollipop update and decide then.

Go a week or more and then decide which apps you'd like to freeze or leave alone.
Should be enough time to get a feel for it and decide which apps you like.
I would like to know if there is any way to get the voice activation on Google now to work while S-voice is on

Oh, but it will.. And it does. Rooting alone allows you to do most of the things you can do on a custom ROM, but you're doing it to the stock ROM. Even without a custom recovery, you can still modify system files, freeze/uninstall system apps, run root apps, etc.

Oh I know that, but I meant rooting alone does not degrade the experience. As you rightfully said, the experience can be improved drastically while rooted even on stock firmware.
Cheers ?

Take a look around the Q&A and General sections. Most questions you have, already have been asked

i also have an upgrade available but im not sure if i should use it on the note 4. it is tempting but in a few months the m9 will be here along with other s810 processor based devices. Plus i hear the n4s battery life isnt that great.

I would definitely root and flash a ROM asap. Stock rom is ok but any of the TouchWiz ROM for T Mobile will flat out just feel snappier.
Played with a n4 at bestbuy today. Lagged like hell for me. Even the samsung rep saw it. To say the least i walked away.

Not sure if I'm going to root yet as I'm still trying to get used to this phone. So far it seems ok.

Welcome to the majors op. You'll love it. I had an m8 before. The freedom of having an unlocked bootloader, root, and plenty custom roms got me away from HTC, as well.
No more having to s-off and the firewater exploits being closed and lack of roms.

Where did you hear that the battery life isn't good?
I typically get 2.5 days per full charge with between 4.5 and 6 hours of screen on time per charge depending on if I am reading, or doing media (games, youtube).
If anything I would wait for the Note 5, but that will be a while. I'd suggest getting the Note 4 because it's quite simply a very amazing beast of a phone and then using JUMP to upgrade in 6 months if you so desire.

Compared to the process of rooting a htc how difficult is it to root the note 4
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
It's way easier to root the note 4:
You're in in 5.
Here are the instructions:

Had to do one at my parents house.
It took me 10 minutes because I was downloading a rom, at the same time, and my parents internet sucks.
