You'll need to flash a kernel that has all those governers and i/o schedulars.
A Hero Can Be Anyone.
Read the explanation of Governors and I/O schedulers here.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663809
I recommend that you use Sio I/O scheduler to conserve battery and not noop..
and also to conserve battery without lags i recommend that you use a bcm21553 governor with undervoltage value of -120mV

what gov ? sounds like you could have a wake lock killing your battery

Tiamat kernel w smartass governor
It was suggested somewhere in the general forum not too long ago that the newer Linux kernels are less battery efficient, at least with respect to the Evo, and I tend to agree.
With constant use I was able to only use 10% connected to Wifi but now it's nearly 20% use, again in a constant setting on Wifi.
You can try running an app like "watch dog lite" and seeing if an app is causing an issue.
You can do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712990 which really works.

If anyone out there has overclocked there phone, does it still run well after a few months etc.
I plan on rooting and overclocking to 1.5ghz (on demand) and just want to know if it will wreck the phone after months of use. I am aware overclocking is not recommended for long periods but just want to see if people have had hardware issues after prolonged overclocking..
Thanks in advance

Its not the clockspeed you need to worry about. It's voltages that can damage the H/W.

So using SetCPU to 1.5GHz changes the voltage?

Well the higher the clockspeed the higher the voltage. Kernels like doomlords allow you to undervolt though. Keep in mind if you reduce voltage too much though, device will become unstable and reboot alot
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
Im currently running at 1.5GHz and have IncrediControl running undervolt at 1200 (tested for few hours seems OK so far)
Does this mean I am correctly undervolted and are these settings ok for battery life/temp etc
Bump

If it has been running well so far, I don't think you need to worry.
Just wanted to make sure undervolting doesnt cause damage to the cpu and battery

Undervolting wont damage the CPU. As long as it's stable, the less voltage the better

Thanks for the help guys
OK.First of all,I'm sorry if there is a same thread like this.So show a screenshot of Set CPU or whatever application you use to overclock and post a screenshot of it.

oh god, not another thread
I usually use smartass though..
Btw what app are you using? Is that setcpu?

You stuck Max and min to 729 MHz? Wow that must drain battery like crazy......

Lol yeah. Why not set governor to performance instead?
My phone becomes unstable above 748. Is it because i'm using stock kernel?

I am sure you can take this to the numerous threads already open on this topic.

I want to over clock my galaxy y but there seems to be no post about over clocking. Help?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
Over clocking isn't good for our phone right now.
Btw, you can head over to the dev section. There may be overclocked kernels.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
merruks dev editon kernel can overclock without heating our CPU.. but for experts only
Overclocking to 900mhz is now safe, without heating up our device , just google it...........

Meeruk technology 2.5 deluxe kernel supports overclocking....its developer edition....
and its not buggy...
U can try it.....and no over heating issues....

Werent u supposed to search and post as per rules...
Coz according to my knowledge there are hundreds of thread ...
Just search
Go with Merruk....
Or a 900mhz OverClock Kernel...
Search...

Ondemand is the best for batteries. Keep CPU frequency between 200-600. For performance, try smartassv2, with OC ofcourse.
