Tiamat kernel w smartass governor

It was suggested somewhere in the general forum not too long ago that the newer Linux kernels are less battery efficient, at least with respect to the Evo, and I tend to agree.
With constant use I was able to only use 10% connected to Wifi but now it's nearly 20% use, again in a constant setting on Wifi.
You can try running an app like "watch dog lite" and seeing if an app is causing an issue.
You can do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712990 which really works.

My Dinc is slow...512

I ran a full benchmark with quadrant and it came in at 512 which from what I can tell I'd pretty slow.
I killed most of my apps before running I do have a live bg and a good amount widgets. I also went crazy installing apps so I am sure all of this contributed.
Is that normal and how can I figure out what is killing my speed?

Stock 2.1
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Then thats why. Unless you use a 2.2 rom, you will not experience quadrant scores in the1000+.
I reccomend switching to 2.2. Its fast. You will get rather good quadrant and linpack.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Isnt that still pretty slow for 2.1? Is there a program to tell me which of my programs is hogging my CPUs?

No its normal.
Quadrant should be in the low 500's
Linpack should be 4-6

I am using the leak right now, and most bugs are fixed with the rmk patch
Also, theres always skyraider 1.9b and cm6...which only have one bug-the camcorder doesnt work.
And if you are rooted and plan to stay with 2.1 use hydra kernels (which dont work with 2.2)

Kushdeck problem

On the kushdeck almost everything is working fine but I was navigating with maps. Then got a phone call was talking and phone rebooted. This has happened before on cyanogenmod a couple times and on this mod a couple times.....anyone else.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
That is nice to know, looks like a problem when the navigations gets interrupted when a call comes in. You say that it happened with CM and now with kushdeck? If it is working that way they will be glad to find a solution to fix this bug.
Another thing, have you tried to update the google maps? That can solve the issue also.
Spoke too soon my phone just rebooted as I was surfing the web just now. Earlier when it happened it wasn't just when the call came in I had already been on the phone a while.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Are you running a different kernel and what are your clock speeds set to? 95% of my random reboots are caused by one or the other.
Stock clock speeds two hundred and whatever to 998 on demand. I don't over clock at all.

Are you using any other tweaks added to deck or just the rom?

Overclock

If anyone out there has overclocked there phone, does it still run well after a few months etc.
I plan on rooting and overclocking to 1.5ghz (on demand) and just want to know if it will wreck the phone after months of use. I am aware overclocking is not recommended for long periods but just want to see if people have had hardware issues after prolonged overclocking..
Thanks in advance
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
Its not the clockspeed you need to worry about. It's voltages that can damage the H/W.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
So using SetCPU to 1.5GHz changes the voltage?

Well the higher the clockspeed the higher the voltage. Kernels like doomlords allow you to undervolt though. Keep in mind if you reduce voltage too much though, device will become unstable and reboot alot
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
Im currently running at 1.5GHz and have IncrediControl running undervolt at 1200 (tested for few hours seems OK so far)
Does this mean I am correctly undervolted and are these settings ok for battery life/temp etc
Bump
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
If it has been running well so far, I don't think you need to worry.
Just wanted to make sure undervolting doesnt cause damage to the cpu and battery

Undervolting wont damage the CPU. As long as it's stable, the less voltage the better

Post your battery status here

Hello folks,
These kinds of threads can be found for other phones but I think we haven't such thing here for our beloved GN.
So please take a screenshot of your battery status from android setting and uplaod it here. Especially from the screen on time.
In addation please mention your ROM and kernel and their versions so we can have an accurate comparison and nice statistic pool.
Cheers,

Guys these stats do not mean much. I really like the idea of the thread and would like to see what stats other people are getting with their battery life. But all I can see are stats posted when the phone is hardly in use.
On screen time is all in bits and pieces. Can someone post a picture of their stats with their AWAKE and ON SCREEN tabs at full blue - meaning it was being used constantly. Those stats would mean alot more than these. Cause anyone can not use the phone at all and post their stats up having easily more than 1 & 1/2 day of battery.
I for one do not have screen shots but I do recall not getting more than 4-5 hours of on screen time.
I know this isn't long, but this is heavy usage screen on 75%of the time, I think it's awesome battery status for this.
And I still have 54% battery.

Ktoonz kernal

Hello all,
I recently flashed Ktoonz kernels and used the Ktweaker to set it to Performance. When I ran a Quadrant test after rebooting I was more than surprised. The numbers were much lower than a stock kernel. Any one know if I possibly did something wrong? This is the Quadrant score I have and also a shot of the Ktweaker. Thanks.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Do not ever go by quadrant, if the phone feels smoother and faster then it is smoother and faster.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
Okay. So what exactly is it that Quadrant is used for then? I always thought it was used to test the speed of the device?

Its a bragging rights thing really, any developer will tell you its completely pointless. Real life usage is what matters. For instance when forcerom came out it had problems with getting 6000 quadrants but was running smooth.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
Okay, thanks a lot! Yeah it definitely does feel faster and smoother. Just hoping that with the performance kernel I still get some good battery life.
