I know there was a way to do this with a rooted s3, could I do the same for the s4? I want the look of stock Android while keeping the great touchwiz features.

If you can do for S3 then it should be possible with S4
Nova theme, and find icons online that look similar, maybe even post a rar with everything for anyone else interested?

Just use Nova Launcher with Jelly Bean 4.2 HD theme..its pretty close

Wow, seems nice and smooth, what an improvement over 2.3!
Imagine using ICS with Spare Parts+ and an alternative launcher, then it would be EVEN faster!!!!
I hope battery performance has also been improved.

Touchwiz is great why would you want rid of it? All those mint things Like status bar brightness adjust, toggles in the status bar and swipe to take a screen shot. I agree thetouchwiz launcher is limited, but touchwiz isn't just a launcher. I use go launcher because its amazingly smooth. If you want the total ics look all you need to do is install the launcher from it. But IMO even the ics launcher is limited incustomisation, compared to the the likes of go, adw, launcher pro.

well its not official is it, does anyone what it is, is it the cyanogen port by any chance because i notice in the vid its a modded rom with rom manager there and superuser, and it certainly doesnt look completely stock, so does anyone have any idea what this is?
Id love to give it a trial run but i need stability and i use the camera a lot so for me, its a case of having to wait.

I have nothing against TW, just a personal preference. I also like TW but id like to experience the AOSP launcher. No need to go defensive.

It's an pre-alpha by CyanogenMod, CM9, not by Samsung
As expected, camera does not work, and it's pretty buggy and missing features.

Thats how CM's work you need to wait 8-9 months to enjoy the benefits. Till then stock roms are better. ( based on experience with S1 and S2 )

Thought so due to the camera not working. However performance looked great!
The camera and bluetooth will work when they get their hands on the right drivers.

Nottach Xposed allowed me to go 5x5 and everything seemed to work just fine with it but I haven't used in over a week. I'm sure a custom rom will come around eventually with a revised TW launcher.

I honestly just started looking into launchers today, and only because of my Note 10.1, but does anyone have any thoughts on Holo Launcher? As in, I see everyone recommend Apex or Nova, but what makes either of them preferable over Holo?

Only thing I know of Holo (or is it Halo?) is that it's on Paranoid Android, and from what I hear it's kind of integrated into the Rom, as I've seen people popping around asking when "we're" going to integrate it. (PS: Far as I know SlimBean has no plans on including it.)
PS: I prefer Apex.

Totally different thing.
Holo launcher is a launcher just like nova and apex.
Halo is the PA implementation you're talking about. Very different.

Pretty sure he's talking about the launcher, not PA's halo.
As for the launcher, I think apex and nova are much better. Holo seems to be more geared towards appealing to older versions of android (older than 4), that aren't compatible with apex or nova.

Now I know why I heard of it. my old Desire-Z, when I went back to gingerbread for some stability, I couldn't install Apex, Holo was one that was mentioned, aside from ADW.
I use Holo HD on my N4. I like it because it looks like stock but I can lock the desktop to prevent accidental changes, rename apps and it supports up/down swipe gestures in the free version. Otherwise it has too many other features I don't care for Performance is fine, can't tell the difference between stock, Nova, Apex, Holo HD.
I use it too. For me it is the best launcher with having option to adjust scrolling speed between homescreens - it is silky smooth.

I use holo as my daily driver and really like it its stable and you can backup the layout which is really cool. I also used it on my g2x to get the jb feel.
I actually just put JB on my wife's old ass Galaxy S and the ROM usues Holo by default and she really likes it and it actually runs smooth on such an antiquated device I imagine it would be good on an N⁴

I love having aosp's smooth quick feel while keeping samsungs watchon. if multi window or air gestures came by that would be incredible. as well as being able to customize the lock screen and perhaps a remove all button on the recent app menu
When source is released all aosp ROMs will merge the new changes.

Yes. I hate that its 4.3 I just seriously want 5.0 already haha cmon Google. Although 4.3 seems fast very fast

yeah ive enjoyed GO Launcher alot. but it just feels much much smoother on something like Liquid Smooth or Task's Rom than trying to theme touchwiz, ill still give it another ago. Nonetheless, the future has some goodies in store for us it looks like

try xnote you can remove all bloat with aroma and install nova or apex
Does Nova or Apex affect the performance? Cause I think the TouchWiz stuff will still run in background...

If you want all samsung features, like s pen, multiwindow etc then you have to keep touchwiz. If you don't like the look, install a launcher from google play and prevent touchwiz from running by killing it with an app like home manager.
