Hi guys, first post. So heres the problem. My HD2 screen is not glued properly to the base of the phone and it has a little space between them at the bottom right corner ( next to the Power button), whenever i press the screen to close the gap the phone freezes, and i have to remove the batery. It is getting really annoying couse i cant even put the damn thing in my pocket without it freezing. The hardware keys dont even work i just have to restart it. So my question is does any1 know of this problem and can he/she offer a way out?
Sorry for my english. thanks in advance
Sounds like it been opened before & had not the best assembly.
Would imagine hardware button ribbon is torn or pulled out of socket hence no buttons.
freezing issue could be down to issue with digitizer ribbon or button ribbon or worse ?
Do you have any issues with screen touch & do you know full history of the handset.
If black Void sticker is missing from case screw near battery pins then you know it been opened & most repairs including so called specialists are poor from ones I've seen.
I know this is the last thing you want to hear but if it were my device I'd take it apart and redo the assembly myself. Theres plenty of how-to videos with detailed steps. Hope this helps.

Hi mates yesterday i bought a used herm...with excellent condition. but when i opened any dialog. the window closed automatically. and the screen light remains always on. and touch is creating problems.
and after some time the touch screen totally stop working. i dont know what happened. al the buttons are working fine. i upgraded my t-mobile herm to its original t-mobile wm6 rom. and again the touch screen is not working. and the screen light always stay on..
so is this hardware or software problem.?
guide me if you have any clue about this..
according to my thinking.. i think some button is pressed continuesly.. but everything is working fine.. only the touch is not working.
broken digitizer for the touch screen, buy a replacement lcd/digitizer together and replace yourself, about $100Aud. Use Mike Channons site to download the service manual. Use the search function and type in "htc service manual hermes".
As for the light, you will have to use your buttons to navigate to settings>system>backlight>battery power and external power. you can select how long the backlight remains on for.
Cheers...
Hi mate thanks for your reply.. Actually the situation is that. the screen is working perfectly. all buttons are also working perfectly. but suddenly the touch feature stopped working.
that time i was just opening some menus and they closed automatically. it looks like that there is some button pressed. and the screen light never stops. it continuously remains on. all buttons are working perfectly and everything. on the touch feature is not working.
i upgraded my device with genuine shipped t-mobile wm6 rom and again it stopped at the starting screen where i have to click the screen and the device brings the window for stylus adjustment.
so i wanna ask that is this also possible that some touch drivers are corrupted or something like this.? or is this a hardware failure.?
Kind Regards
I had same problem, it was hardware. Thats why I said to change the lcd. It is theoretically possible to replace JUST the digitizer, BUT, it is a MAJOR hassle.
As for getting past the alignment stage, look up Remote Screen Alignment. Its a cab file that stores the alignment settings on your pc. You WILL have to have a friend that has the same phone so you can get their settings as you need to copy them to your pc first. You can then copy the settings to your phone so you can use it until you replace that pesky lcd...
Cheers.....
I had a similar problem with my hermes. After a lot of investigating, I found out that this is a heat related issue with the hermes. The unit will heat up an some connection somwhere gets messed up and continually registers ghost taps on the upper right corner of the screen, which causes the continual opening and closing of programs/task manager. This overloads the phone which then causes the screen to eventually become unresponsive due to excessive computing.
With my phone, it must be heat related because it will only occur during or after heavy use or overcharging. Other people have had this exact problem with the conclusion being overheating. The worse part is, there is apparently no way to fix this, replacing the screen doesn't change anything. setting your screen alignment very far left will fix the problem but then everything you tap needs to be compensated for.
Good luck, hate to be the harbinger of bad news, but it's better to know whats wrong and that you can't fix it then not know whats wrong and keep trying to fix it.
same problem here... only my hermes is overheating already after 5 minutes use...
in the morning it works and when i put it in front of the airconditioning the touchscreen also works...
somebody who has an idea where to look for a solution??

Some of the suggestions in the white screen thread/s might help. The problem is that those who have the heat related problem will find it very difficult to trace the actual fault. The heat may be causing miniscule expansions on the boards / components and connectors. The tiniest of cracks or poor connections can therefore break with the expansion.
Another theory is that rather than heat it might be a capacitor that is breaking down either over time or again through heating. Unless you are a skilled electronic engineer that is virtually impossible to check, particularly since schematics are not available.
You might just be lucky if you dismantled and re-assembled - it might just re-set a connector or adjust a board so it does not get affected in future. That would be very much a matter of luck and of course potentially the situation might be made worse!

Hi mates. I am back with some issue.. i moved my device to a repair center and he said that its a software issue. and he fixed my device without changing any rom.. i dont know how..
but again when i open some window like programs. the right scrollbar make a problem... when i move scrollbar it automatically press the top close button..i aligned my screen 3 times but same problem with right side scroll bar.
and after playing with it. the touch totally stopped.
now the thing is.all the buttons are working fine and everything is working fine. even sms and calls. but when i check sms and press my scroller button. it displays the right click menu instead of opening the sms. and the screen light is continuesly on. as something is pressed. so. i think this thing wil help. i am now trying this method to check my pc.
http://inuchanbt.blog54.fc2.com/blog-entry-99.html
check this out as well.
i will send you details soon.
might just have something lodged between the case and screen.. also to get rid of the screen alignment, cable it up and delete welcome from the startup programs and then reset it.. should get you past it so at least you can use it until you repair your screen
So I tried to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376035
My screw was loose indeed. In fact is was so loose it fell out before I had opened it completely.
I tightened the screw, closed the cover, turned it on, and... nothing. Only the backlight of the screen, but the screen stays completely BLACK. Nothing. (I know the phone is working though, because if I hold the off button I'll hear the "boink" sound)
I tried this:
- With and without SIM card.
- With and without tightening the screw.
- With and without the power cord.
Mind you I have NEVER had this problem before.
What is going on here? Did I **** something up badly while opening this phone? If I did I am going to be super sad, so please, help me!
Anyone?
I basically have the same fault mate. My vibrator lock screw was loose and it made the phone rattle.
I opened it up and probably either tightened the screw up too much and killed something on the mainboard or 'pinched' the lcd flex ribbon ( rusty gold coloured thing- it plugs into the small white ribbon connector on the MB ) with the opening tool.
Anyway - the phone could take calls , it seems to be working ,although I have no display , and the keypad buttons are all lit up very brightly , what scuppered me was with the constant case opening I eventually managed to break the power microswitch off the MB and I now have to use the reset button to power the phone on.
I don't want to waste money buying a new lcd screen for a phone which might be terminally damaged due to a mainboard fault , anyone narrow these faults down more ?.
shameless bump.
BUMP !!
Im just fixing my LCD on my P3600 and have it in bits,
is the display connector definitely pushed all the way in?
Yeah m8 - AFAIK it is all the way in , I am certain that it is the flex ribbon connector that is broken.
For anyone else interested in this or that has the same problem - there is a program called ' my mobiler ' which can be found in the forum somewhere , using it will tell you all you need to know ;
i.e = if it is the phone itself that's broken , or it's a damaged display.
Hi,
I had the following problem with my HTC Diamond 2 (it might have got wet & it might possibly have had too much pressure on the screen)
Problem:
The mobile boots ok and the normal buttons at the bottom work fine, as do the volume up/down buttons. The display, however, has what looks like the newton rings and when I press the display it detects a 'press' about 1cm to the left of where i pressed. This means I can't use the right hand side of the display and also can't enter my pin.
Error Diagnosis: (from Arvato Services in Germany)
Mainboard is defect. Cost to repair = € 303.17
Is this possible ? If there was a problem with the mainboard then I would expect to see other problems - and at present, I can only see that the touchscreen has a problem.
Please let me know what you think, thanks in advance !
(ps there should be a question mark at the end of the 'title', don't seem to be able to edit though)
Based on your description and from what I've read, it's definitely the digitizer.
It is possible that you have a damaged board, but regardless, your digitizer is bad.
I would attempt to replace this yourrself then see if everything is fine before sending it to repair.
I had the same problem!
The screen was getting worse in alignment over a time frame of a couple of days. If replaced the digitizer and screen and all is back to normal ..... however it seems to work better then ever before.
The only problem left is dust between the digitizer and my screen, but this is my own fault since I didn't glued the screens. I'll re-open in the next few days and use some silicone to close the gaps. Mainly the volume key has an opening to the outside.
Good luck with the replacement!
Hi guys,
I just disassembled my HD2 to replace my broken digitizer and touchscreen.
But now i'm stuck with a problem.
What shall I use to glue both items together again?
And the keyboard makes some issues.
I tried to place both parts over eachother to see if they fit but I can't press the keys after it.
Seems like they are stuck.
That's why I didn't want to use superglue because after assembling it I wouldn't be able to change anything.
Maybe pictures tell more than words.

hope that helps you
thanks wasn't the information I was looking for but nevermind
I assembled the device now .. but the next problem occured ..
the hd2 is loading without problems (led shows it) but when I try to power it on it's completely dead. nothing happends
with my old touchscreen it was at least possible to power it on.
my question is:
could the new soldered touchscreen + digitizer be broken? or did I break something during disassembly and assembly?
To be honest I didn't see any mistakes I made.
It's not my first time repairing stuff like that because I used to repair notebooks as a hobby.
Still i'm unsure what the heck is going on with my phone atm.
did you check if the flex cable from display is in the port, there is an white stripe that shows how far it must in the port. Did the phone vibrate when you pressed power button?
I checked the cables and found nothing suspicious.
and the phone didnt even vibrate after trying to power it on.
I'm trying to get a new hardkey board (i hope you know what I mean).
Had problems with the keys being stuck and maybe I killed that one by trying to assemble it.
if the phone doesn't recognize me pushing the power on key it's no wonder it won't do anything.
hope this will fix the problem

Most likely something is wrong with your Power button, but you should turn it on with 2nd method:
- pull out battery;
- insert usb cable(connected to PC)/charger in your usb port;
- insert battery.
This way it should turn on whatever OS you have installed on.
If your OS is Android through MAGLDR, connecting it through usb should turn it on by default, unless your battery is not dead!
Check it out!

Glad to hear that!
Definitely you should replace your keypad flex!
Did you fix the problem with the hardware keys
Hi,
I have very similar problem.
I changed the touch screen on my HD2 and after reassembling I cannot get the hardware keys clicked.
I ordered a brand new key board and brand new plastic buttons. I received them but situation is the same.
If somebody can explain is there any trick during adjusting the plastic buttons to the clickable "small dots" on the board - please help me.
Best Regards

Normally this is always down to glass digitizer not being aligned correctly when stuck to LCD.
0.05mm can make all the difference here.
You need review current digitizer position & pre test assembly to centre chassis without tape for a test run on button function.
Also check button board position is exact & located correctly in the pin holes at each end of the board.
original board quality is normally far better than most of the very cheap eBay pattern parts but one or two sellers offer a decent board around $4.50
Also clean all old tape from back of LCD & centre chassis plate so parts fit flush & once all checked new tape can be added, I also use small spots of up40 adhesive sealant near corners & near middle edges for final build up as holds far better than even the best tapes & gives an original strength & long lasting flush look to final job plus us easily removed with razor blade if repair ever needed again.
Super glue is a BIG no no NO.
Hard to get hardware buttons clickable

It is not the case in my case , because I ordered full set (digitizer + display) and they arrived factory assembled.
But you are definitely right - 0.05 mm make the difference. I think the problem comes from the fact that the board with buttons cannot be firmly fixed to the 2 small juts on the chassis. You know the plug of the buttons board is on the tail like extension. Probably when I try to cover the buttons board with the LCD+digitizer - the frame of the LCD slightly pushes the buttons board and the juts on the plastic buttons cannot be fixed exactly on the top of the actual buttons on the board. Anyway we are speaking about precise fixing something around 0.05 mm over something else, which is exactly same size... and in the same time you have to fix this without any visibility.
I will continue trying. If you can give me any other ideas - I will appreciate this.
Thanks

Do not rule out the LCD/Digitizer assembly as the china combos are prone to not the best accuracy of assembly as sounds like maybe LCD is mounted just a fraction too low on the digitizer perhaps.
Button board should be fixed via 3M style tape & most replacement boards come with tape ready for fitting.
worth making effort with button board to centre chassis to mount securely then mounting lcd to chassis without tape for a trial assembly & try and check for possible issues such as bent chassis or old tape not removed sufficiently or new assembly alignment not the best.
I would also recommend using original plastic button strip as the copy ones are not always good & have had experience with them before.
My HTC HD2 with kitkat os falling from my hand and after that the screen shows nothing, my phone is alive and everything works like ringing vibrate alarm even touch screen and touch vibrate, but i see nothing and the display is dark.
whats my problem? can i fix it?

probably need new screen assembly!
needs opening to check lcd connector to mainboard & if all connections good then new screen should be tried.
LCD & digitizer pre built assembly is only about $30 these days for decent ones but indeed not easy fit with some experience or good read up on procedure & good care when doing it.

How can i open my phone? And where is connector located?
Do you have a link to view that?
Have a read of this thread for start
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566179
Plenty more if do a search
Basically be very very careful, use plastic pry tool ONLY to remove back, start at top. 2 clips about 7mm in from top edges then once released work down right side, DO NOT stick any tools in near the volume key, if doing it right the back comes of very easy (2 pry tools are better as can keep one in top sstopping it clipping back in)
Once back off handle with care, rough handling breaks th spring contacts for antenna etc.
LCD from mainboad can be disconnected from mainboard without fully removing flex & is absolute best way do it.
I did write few posts on it so will try dig them up & link you.
If buy lcd/gigi assemble also buy a button board ribbon as they like only $3USD, with spare button ribbon you can easily plug new lcd/digi in & plug new button board ribbon into mainboard & hold a battery on it to do a test befoe sticking things together.
Also you likely damage ribbon if not careful so spare likely get used on rebuild.
